From Neo’s Diary, Entry nr. 20:

This Bandicoot was supposed to be my most important general. My machine, Cortex Vortex rejected him and now he escaped my castle! If he’s rebelling that way, this can’t go on anymore! I’ve decided to make a modification to Nickel’s body and hopefully she can defeat him in an instant.

And now some explanation:

N.Brio replaced N.Tire’s biological claws with metal ones (Nickel - like her name)

Those containers are filled with toxic chemical liquid that could kill if she injects it into someone’s body. (Brio did the whole operation, Cortex has only ordered him to do it) and with these claws she WAS supposed to kill Crash Bandicoot - Neo’s ‘failed’ experiment that we all know (and love lmao)

That plan of course failed too and Brio decided not to fill those containers ever again. (He didn’t want to cut N.Tire’s skin and mess with the operating again, because he knew Cortex’s plans would not come to fruition)
