I don't enough people talking about the Sleeping Forest scene?! bcs the way Cloud says "Come back!" and then drop to the floor while saying Aerith's name STILL HAS ME CRYING TBH 😭🫶💕 so maybe a gif someday if you have the time 👀 YOUR GIFS ARE KEEPING ME ALIVE SO TYYY

for reaaal!!!! i play in japanese and there he says “wait for me” and im like djhfkdkshsiwannaripmyhairout the voice acting and everything is chefs kiss 🤌🏻 and they had the gall to make him crawl as if the entire scene wasnt so emotionally taxing already TTwTT and the number of times he kept on calling her name??? the way it got more desperate one after the other ughhh

Something I like about Clerith is how their personalities fit with each other

Cloud is not a people person, Aerith loves helping people around her and she help Cloud with that and encourages him to really get out of his shell.

Not forces him, okay, she encourages him to help others, and not just for the monet.

But they also both grew up without friends

Don't even bring up tifa bc she was a neighbor at best to Cloud.

But both Cloud and Aerith were bullied as kids, and that's something that they share.

Aerith is kind and will call out someone on their bullshit if she needs to, Clouds not very good at communicating. Aerith encourages Cloud to again come out of his shell on that part too.

That's just something Tifa and Zack can't do to Cloud and Aerith, I'm sorry but it's true in my opinion.

But, Zack and Tifas personalities work well together too

Woke up thinking about how Aerith tells Cloud not to fall in love with her because she knows what’s gonna happen to her. I think that from the start, Aerith knew that there was a multiverse, and that she was gonna die. I like to think that the Aerith we saw in that resolution scene was OG Aerith, reaching out to Remake Cloud. And I can’t help but wonder if during some of the events of both Remake and Rebirth, if Cloud remembered what Aerith said that night. Like, during the Golden Saucer date, when Cloud asked Aerith if she still likes Zack, during their ideal date in the alternate timeline, and when the inevitable happened. I really like how Cloud tries to be respectful about Aerith’s feelings about Zack in the Golden Saucer date too. He sits far from her, but she comes to him anyway. Cloud seems to not try and open himself up to her too much, but she takes initiative, which I think makes him realize that Aerith might not like Zack that much anymore.

It’s also so sweet that before Aerith dies, in the alternate timeline date, she confesses to Cloud. She gives him her materia, and then thanks him for everything; tells him “it’s been fun.” And then she brings him back to the present just as soon as Sephiroth comes through the church doors.

I think in every timeline, Aerith knows her fate. But the fact that she’s so strong and resilient, even in the face of death, is so beautiful, but so sad, considering that her death may have occurred so many times in different timelines, that the thought of her death is normal to Aerith. To her, I believe, it’s just another fact that she has to swallow until the day it comes.

All right I'm probably going to regret this but I need to get these feelings off my chest.

I'm going to immediately preface this with I DO NOT CARE what ship you sail. I also DO NOT CARE what is canon or not - mostly because the canon has been changed and Rewritten and retconned so much over the years-. This is NOT to convince anyone one way or the other. These are just my personal feelings after playing the Ff7 remake.

-deep breath-

I personally feel Cloud and Aerith make for a better love story than Cloud and Tifa.

Take Cloud, a young man who has been pining for years after the Girl Next Door, who didn't even bother to give him the time of day. Who's friends teased and bullied Cloud; at worst she was complicit and at best she was complacent.

Then you have Aerith, a young girl who crushed on a "ladies man". It was never anything serious but the love was there. Then one day he disappeared and never returned.

Now years later these two meet. They are older and they have been wounded by the love and longing from their younger days. One is a surly dark cloud with a stone wall surrounding his heart, the other a ray of sunshine with a battering ram of joy.

Aerith can see echoes of her first crush in this new stranger but quickly realized he is not that same person. He is something new, something different, something better.

Cloud is taken off guard at how simple and easy this person is to talk to. She is someone completely unattached to his past, even by association. There is no hate in her heart and she is so sure of herself. It is a brightness so rare to find in anyone and he finds himself desperate to protect it. He finds himself wanting to see more and more of that smile.

Even though they just met the two seem to just connect so easily with one another. And through each other they find that love, the thing that had previously wounded them and gave them scars, can just as easily lead to happiness and joy. Through their blossoming romance, they both begin to heal and move on from the childish longing and crushes of their past. Instead of clinging to the past they are now able to move forward, together.
