it still astounds me what they're doing by bringing the audience into the story structure. like, when dean got the phone call from cas, they weren't just playing him, they were playing us, too, when it ended up being lucifer instead. they know we want cas back just as much as dean does, because they've been setting us up as dean this entire season. so if the author (chuck/the showrunners) is out of the cards now, and dean (us) gets to live his life how he wants... that means cas. that means we're going to find a way to bring cas back. we are the characters, and the story is ours now.

It wasn’t his reaction to what happened in 1518 that got me because we have seen it kinda before with the despondentness and drinking and stuff

It’s was that run he did with that fake phone call that, if you find yourself in doubt of endgame D/C next week, you should hold on to.

Coping mechanisms we have seen. We expected all that and while the last time he got like that, Cas eventually came back (with a phone call first).

The running was them not dropping it. The running is running us into 1520. If they ended it with just heavy grief that’s one thing but they chose to show us that run and that phone call which wasn’t grief it was hope. They aren’t making that the last bit of them “together”.

Unlike 1305, Cas won’t magically appear I think. Maybe he will but that run made me go “oh he’s gonna go after him some how” that hope was too much to ignore and having it just end there makes absolutely no sense. Ending it with just “meh gonna drink meh gonna pout” tells us one thing but they instead chose to include that scene

So you’re feeling doubtful, hold onto to that reaction to the fake phone call. That was hope and Dean rushing to it. That was them saying “keep running until you find him”.

That was them showing us there is still massive interest from Dean in wanting Cas back he’s just probably going to have to do it himself. But even if he didn’t have to, that scene right there pushes us into 1520
