I'm working on this digital painting of a specific statue and it's been difficult but also really fun. I had a breakthrough with the learning curve and it feels like much smoother sailing from here. I shall disappear into the void for another few weeks now

I'm having large thoughts that are far too big for my brain right now, but they're circling around two of the moments when Gabriel has memory flashbacks: there's an echo of a female voice overlaying his voice.
The first one "I remember when all the morningstars sang" is a direct quote from God, which Crowley and Aziraphale heard Her say to Job back in 2500BC.
The second one - "there will come a great tempest and the dead will leave their graves" - which sounds very much like a smash-up of quotes from several of the prophets including Isaiah and John of Patmos, who were meant to be writing down messages directly from God.
Compare this to the conversation he has with Crowley in the bedroom. His voice stays the same, his eyes don't change colour and he's fully conscious of himself and what he's saying.
And then it struck me that Crowley says in the first instance when Gabriel seems to be possessed by a Heavenly power: "what is the very first thing that you remember?"
I have the suspicion that Gabriel isn't remembering his own memories in those moments. Gabriel is remembering God's memories. That's why he says "I can't remember those things. My head isn't big enough" and "it hurts to remember: my head isn't built for that".
Which makes me wonder about the fact he describes his memory as being "everywhere". Because someone's memory is certainly sleeting through his head, giving him thoughts that aren't his own.
