This has always been the inevitable result of the strict abortion bans being enacted in these states. Even if the law gives lip service to the life and health of the mother, doctors will be afraid to act without prior authorization, and emergency or even urgent treatment will be withheld.

And while everyone already knew that those behind these laws don't give a damn about the women they hurt, I want all the sincere pro-life folk who believe in fetal or even embryonic personhood to watch the state level reactions to this very carefully. Because there are wanted pregnancies being lost here, babies dying if that is your belief, that could have possibly been saved if the healthcare workers weren't afraid they'd literally be arrested if they tried but failed. So let's see who cares and who doesn't, shall we?

Okay, as one of those people who will sometimes choose powering through (or hiding from) pain rather than taking meds, I'm just putting this out there -

If I mention pain, but then respond to your suggestion of pain meds in the negative, this is a personal choice which has literally no moral connotations unless they are explicitly stated. These posts calling people psuedo martyrs or ableist or puritanical are exactly the same as someone judging you for the meds you take.

Personally, I have digestive issues and am prone to rebound headaches. I have had multiple decades of experimentation to come to a personal cost-benefit algorithm of when to take the meds and when not to. And even if some form of personal philosophy played into it, it wouldn't fucking matter because I'm the one taking or not taking the meds.

I'm aware that people with severe or chronic pain face a lot of judgement, but no individual's medication choices are part of that judgement unless they say so.
