This fandom is interesting in the fact it mostly balances fictional charcters that are seen as extensions of the streamers that play them (let's call them actors). There hasn't been a distinct line drawn between the characters and actors other than slapping a c! or cc! in front of names.

It's also the first fandom I've seen that applies the standards set by the actors to the characters they play. I think most of the actors have a decent degree of separation from their SMP characters to not give a shit, but the fans still don't seem to get that means there are different standards.

So not only do you have average fandom bullshit of ships, theories, and other discourse, but you also have added onto it arguments about boundaries for the streamers that wouldn't fly in any other fandom.

Idk if people have discussed it yet, but that's my best guess on why discussion around the Tubbo and Ranboo marriage is particularly heated.

why is everyone so crazy about the mention of a romantic relationship C!Tubbo and C!Ranboo?  Canonically they are in love. So why does everyone hiss at art with non-platonic content? I mean… really. I saw simple cute art with cartoon stile where c!Tubbo and c!ranboo just cuddled in bed with clothes on them. And omg what what started… A huge pile of shouting by type “THEY ARE MINORS HOW COULD YOU!!! (there was not any sexual stuff) YOU WEIRD EWWW! THEY SAID THEY DONT LIKE SHIPPING!” and other. So  1.Even if we touch age topic. Yes, cc!ranboo and cc!tubbo are minors, but their characters - no. it’s been several years for lore. It means C!Tubbo and C!Ranboo are adult.  2.They said they dont like shipping, but they meant ship between content creators Ranboo and Toby Smith. Their characters have canonically romantic stuff so ban on shipping c!tubbo and c!ranboo senselessly. 3. People say “they could feel uncomfortable if see that”  Okay, but what about other SMP member? I don’t see the others being so actively protected. I kinda new in fandom so dont wanna offend someone. Just want to understand.

I find it hilarious whenever the British streamers complain about their heat wave because their heat waves push them into mid to high 80s whereas Californian heat waves have us at like 115 Fahrenheit. Then they start complaining about not having AC and I need to hold back on the fact our electric and gas providers do rolling blackouts because of wildfires, meaning sometimes we just don't get power and sit through our high 90s heat.

I laugh but I also cry because I wish to have that be my problem.

Nah dude because I was in an actual cult growing up and it wasn't as bad as mcyttwt "activists". Like, a lot of the behaviors they engage in are extremely reminiscent of the shit they do in cults, especially behavior and thought control in attempting to manage how you feel/react to situations, you could even add in information control since their info comes from and stays on Twitter usually. So they're already at the very least 3/4 for the BITE model for cults.

Add to it the fact that most of this is done by kids encouraging other kids and it becomes a lot scarier since it's likely none of them know what the fuck they're doing. And, like it is with most cults, it's fucking HARD to pull people out of.

I'm pissed about everything they do, of course. I think their goals are stupid and methods ineffective. But I'm moreso worried about how this is gonna fuck these kids up if it continues, but if you explain what they're doing is wrong and why they shut down and isolate further.

I dunno, I feel for them when it comes to feeling comfortable in what you know. I'm not excusing the little fuckers, but I do want to have a little hope they'll find a way out of that echo chamber eventually.

Coming out with a whole post saying how it's wrong to even think about comes off sanctimonious as hell, especially when this is fresh and we're all thinking about it.

Getting uppity about what other people think about the Twitter bio is going to make it an even bigger deal. Which is, if I remember right, wasn't what Tubbo wanted?

Point is, the people saying that assuming he's gay or an ally is breaking Tubbo's boundaries are causing a much bigger scene than those that are doing the actual assuming right now. I get the message, but also kindly shut up because jesus christ it's annoying.

Just wanna get my thoughts out on this before I head to bed for the night (unlike Ranboo AYOOO).

Saw this and went "yo wait I remember that feeling about 3 years ago." I know this was about clothing, but lemme get deep for a second.

Ranboo's a teen. He's growing up. It can feel scary at first. It can feel like you're becoming an entirely new person. Independence is hard the first few years. You need to become used to the way the world will treat you and how to handle it as a fully fledged adult, there's sudden pressure to be successful (whatever success means to whoever you're talking to), as well as coming to terms with the fact that you aren't going to be a kid again (passage of time my abhorred). Like, seriously, it's going through puberty a second time without the physical changes, it's wild.

Is going through these kinda changes while you're one of the most popular Twitch channels ideal? Oh fuck no. I'm struggling like hell without the eyes of thousands on me. Do I respect Ranboo for going through all the costs of fame ON TOP of just being a teen growing up? Absolutely. To go through all of the pressure that his fanbase can put on him and still be a very kind and respectful person shows a lot more patience than most of us could ever have. He's very charitable, as well as very open and honest about his allyship, which is still kind of a novelty in the gaming sphere. He managed to pull an extremely diverse and welcoming community as a gaming cc which, again, is really fucking rare and I don't think he gets nearly enough credit for that.

Basically I'm glad for where Ranboo's at in this stage in his life. He's not perfect, but he's definitely really fucking high up on that scale. Not saying this to put pressure on him, I just wanted to say that he's a really good person and I hope he knows that. If he continues making content well into adulthood, I'm excited to see the person he grows into.

And to people at his age or younger, from an older mcyt fan, yeah growing up is a little scary at first. Changes will come, but trust me they don't normally happen overnight. One day you're going to look back a few years and realize you were an entirely different person. But that's okay, that's how growth works. As long as you're doing your best, you'll be fine, just enjoy the ride.

Alright idk how coherent any of that was, I'll find out in the morning. Just wanted to get a little parasocial on main while the thoughts were still fresh.
