Life: Madonna x Smirnoff Audition
To say that Madonna has “loyal” fans would be me putting it modestly. Her fan base is almost cult-like. I say that in a good way! The ugly weather conditions did not stop these hundreds of people for coming out in hopes of trying to win the opportunity of a lifetime and that opportunity was to win a job as one of the dancers on Madonna’s next tour.
The camera crew was out there bright & early to capture everything
Tons of people from the New York & Connecticut area showed up and all seemed normal and fine until….
We spotted this man crying in the rain wearing nothing but a silk robe. Needless to say this was one of the most randomest things I’ve ever had to endure! lol
He then told security how he drove all the way from Michigan (Madonna’s home state) in hopes of meeting her. Security then had to break the bad news to him that this particular dance contest was for New York and Connecticut Residents ONLY. He then pleaded with the security to allow him to stay online in hopes that Madonna showed up because he desperately wanted to meet her, and give her “The Cure”. Whatever that meant! O_o lol
After getting kicked off line, he tried talking to another crew member in hopes that maybe they would allow him to meet Madonna (in case she showed up). Needless to say his request was promptly denied!
So, he did what any other normal person would do, and he chose to lay down in the middle of the street! O_o
At this point, it was confirmed that he definitely had a few screws loose. Eventually he ended up leaving the location quietly. Thank God
Back on the line, I met a bunch of unique individuals all of whom seemed like stars in their own right already.
Peep homies glasses & his demeanor, he already knows he’s the shit! lol
She instantly stood out to me thanks in part to her Fuschia colored hair :-)
I even bumped into my old friend Yessi. Whom I hadn’t talked too or seen in ages! I was definitely pleasantly surprised to see her on line :)
Homie not only came prepared for the weather, but he also came prepared to dance!
While outside taking pictures of a few of the dancers, one of the producers hit me on the Walkie-Talkie to let me know that a certain agency was sending down dancers to audition and what ever dancers came down from the agency didn’t have to worry about standing in line, they were allowed to walk straight in & audition. This guy was one of them! I didn’t get a chance to see him dance, but I’m sure he did his thing.
Brooke (Producer), Tarya (Production Assistant) and the other 2 girls I met on set going over the dancer list.
This is the reason EVERYBODY came out! With that being said S/O’s to Madonna!
This was my first time visiting the Broadway Dance Center and I was extremely impressed with how official this place was!
When dance classes are in session, your allowed to check out the monitors in the lobby and see what everyone is working on. I thought that was a kind of cool idea!
And, this ladies & gentleman is where all the magic happens. What is it you ask? It’s the dance classroom duh! lol
Found this Cue Card outside of the Main Room that the Auditions were being held.
I almost didn’t recognize her when I ran into her again because the first time she was hiding all of that hair lol! Swag wise & Look wise, nobody was fucking with her in my honest opinion! Dance wise she was pretty good as well. I’m almost sure I’ll see her doing her thing really soon! It wouldn’t even surprise me
This is a snap shot of what it looked like, when a dancer was auditioning lol. Everybody was cramming to the door to get a glimpse of each dancer’s 60 second routine.
This blonde hair guy was good! Tarya couldn’t stop raving about how he was her favorite! lol
I captured a shot of my boss / dudebro JG sitting down while Rich & Tone give their opinions on the dancers routines.
Rich & Tone gathered up everyone in the room for a brief speech & then they announced who the winner was.
Then came the Moment of Truth….The NYC Finalists all had to line up & out of these remaining people, a winner was chosen! Although, I know exactly who that winner is. Unfortunately, I won’t disclose that information ;-)
But, what I will say is that being apart of this Madonna x Smirnoff Dance Competition was such a great experience. Not only did I got too meet tons of amazing people but, I also got a chance to see one person’s dreams turn into a reality in the blink of an eye.
Needless to say, “Dreams do come True” you just got to protect that dream by any means necessary and believe that it can come true and then it will!
Kelsey is a new intern over at Decon. But, she’s also a dancer by nature. Unfortunately, Kelsey didn’t get a chance to audition for this Madonna competition because she was working apart of the set, so I did the next best thing for her. I took a picture of her and celebrity choreographers Rich & Tone so atleast she can hold on to the memory of “what could have been” until she gets her chance again to show the world what she’s got :)
And, if all else fails at the Broadway Dance Center, Private Eyes Gentlemen’s Club is always looking to hire new talent. That was the Joke of the day lol. But seriously, how ironic is it that these two establishments are located right next to one another lol.
