Hello, it has been awhile. I know.
The escape from Santuario was, all things considered, a smooth operation. Despite their mistakes when attacking this island I respect the way Libertad works. They have a good head on their shoulders.
I myself did not see the true battle- The destroying of the blockage keeping us on Santuario. No, Dani took point in that. She's a natural at guerrilla warfare. I suspect Clara wants to recruit her, sees something in her besides that tough attitude and good aim. If anything will convince her it could be this. Our heroic escape, the rush of war, leading us to victory.
I suspect Clara also wishes to recruit me. If anything would convince me it would be this.
While many of Clara's most important guerrilleros were attacking the navy ships I had a "more crucial mission" adequate for "my unique professional skillset." According to Clara and Juan, at least. She had me get everyone else out safely. It was terrifying, of course. As far as I could tell I was the only real soldier in my group. The guerrilleros under my command were young and old, inexperienced, and poorly armed. Their fear was...como se dice? Palpable? Si, palpable.
We left as soon as Dani and the others began their mission. They attacked the boats blocking the exit at the northern bay and we silently slipped out the smaller eastern bay, heading towards the Yaran province of El Este. It was night time but, as luck would have it, the moon was out and the sky was cloudless. We (myself, some guerrillas, the fishermen, and newer recruits that joined us in Santuario) made our way in five fishing boats. Truthfully, I'm surprised none of them began sinking on their own. I was in the lead and smallest boat, whispering back orders, and keeping us on the right heading.
Anytime we saw an enemy patrol we stopped moving and shut our lights off. We were spread out to present less of a target, so I knew if one boat was attacked they would most likely die before they could receive any help. And we did not have the weapons needed to take out the patrol boats, anyways. Lucky for us, the attack on the blockage was noisy and flashy. I am not sure what they did but even we saw the smoke and heard the explosions. Most patrols made their way to the navy ships or returned to based- Afraid of attacks or looking for orders. When we reached El Este I shot a horse patrol on the beach and we landed. Mision cumplida, no?
Not yet. Now we have a dangerous trek from El Este to the province of Valle de Oro. Clara's reasoning is to split the groups for safety, mine and hers, so we aren't all wiped out in one attack. She will head directly to the HQ and wait for retaliation. We will go to a rendezvous point and get a ride back to Libertad from there.
The group is in better spirits- We all know this was a victory. But I'm not as excited to celebrate. The journey is long enough for all of us to die- And we're in Castillo's territory now.

Que mierda estoy haciendo?
I don't know what I'm doing here. Not really. At first it was survival, claro, but now that I have linked with Libertad I am not so sure.
They have an escaped plan. The leader, Clara Garcia, has put her guerrillas in overdrive. She has sacrificed considerable manpower holding specific checkpoints and outposts. Specific men and women, like Dani Rojas, are working around the clock to set the right conditions for our escape.
Specific women like Dani Rojas and...myself.
I made a deal with Clara Garcia: I help them here. We all escape. I'm giving transport back to a U.N friendly nation. From my understanding Dani Rojas has a similar deal. This in itself is insane. Dani is one hell of a guerrilla.
And unlike Dani, I am not a fucking guerrilla. I could be- I have all the skills. Dios knows that Clara has been putting me to good use. But I am still a member del Ejercito Nacional, and of the United Nations. Can I go home having done what I have done? Will I be court martialed? Will my unique situation placate any judges?
And then there is also the matter of these people: Another Latin American country suffering from Western influenced oppression. My family survived La Dictadura in Uruguay. We didn't have guerrillas fighting for us- Or anyone fighting for us. Those that had tried before the dictatorship were in jail when they took power.
I remember well how, every year, my family would march in the capital. Protesting with thousands of others for the current government, the democratic and open-minded ones, to fucking find our missing loved ones. To actually put the criminals from the dictatorship to trial. And this was over twenty years later.
Can I let that happen here? And what if they lose? Marching for the rights of the dead isn't as harsh as being those dead- Stuck in a dictatorship.
I can't decide. Perhaps once we leave this damn island. Santuario ya no es. I'm ready to go.

It's been four days since I last checked in. I'm happy to report that I have found Libertad. Although, truthfully, they found me. I happened to be scouting an anti-aircraft site, the only one on Isla Santuario as far as I can tell, when I felt the barrel of a gun on the back of my head. A woman told me to drop my gun. Long story short: A guerrilla named Dani Rojas was on her way to destroy the site. After giving her my story she gave me back my gun. She asked me to help her and in return I would meet Libertad's leader.
I admit that I hesitated. As a peacekeeper, I am not meant to go to war. I defend myself and others. But that's over, no? The U.N has left the island, and me behind with it. The Yarans are being tormented and murdered here. And I am being hunted.
So I agreed. Together we blew the site to hell.
Dani Rojas led me to the Libertad base. It was well hidden in the mountains here. Apparently, Libertad uses old secret trails from the last revolution to move around, and the True Yarans don't have a copy of those old maps.
There's a plan to get us off Isla Santuario. If I want to escape with Libertad I will have to pitch in.

Scouting has been slow. I've learned the main guerrilla group fighting here is called Libertad. They attacked the island the night of the Esperanza purge and failed. It seems they're not helpless though. Fighting on the island has become intense as they attempt to survive annihilation.
Checkpoints have swapped hands. Explosions pepper the night. Bodies can be seen on the street. Peace won't be coming anytime soon.
The one thing that confuses me is how are they so...unseen? I have been sneaking my way across the island, I have taken photos, spoken to a few people, spied on the enemy, and more. Why have I not run into more guerrillas? Heard whispers of a command base? A leader?
I know my updates are taking longer but I will check in again once I've learned more.
For now, it does seem Libertad might be my best chance of escape and survival.

I escaped the Esperanza purge unscathed, although I can't say the same for those living there. I managed to steal an army raft, after killing its three occupants, and slipped past the patrols. I stayed at sea until dawn and before the sun rose beached at Isla Santuario. I thought this island would bring me respite, to no avail. I found fresh bodies on the beach, surely from last night's purge, and heard gunfire in the distance. Enemy patrols are everywhere. From what I can gather guerrillas are being hunted here. I don't know what the guerrillas would make of me. In this situation, they're liable to shoot first and ask questions later. For now, I need supplies, ammo, the lay of the land, and a plan. Personally, I love the game right now! But as a Latina there were creative choices when representing latin people that hurt my opinion on this game. As a gamer, there are definitely gameplay issues that hurt the game (for me!) TBH I think the hate was an overreaction, although I understand some points, and I really love this game overall though No hate to OP! I just think about this a lot and have nowhere else to talk about it sksksk
I don't know why everyone was tripping about Far Cry 6 being "bad." this is my new, favorite game currently that I've played. it's the decolonization, female-power fantasy I've always wanted.
and Dani is one of the most relatable female character I've ever played. finally, I can play a character who sings to the radio while driving and cusses at other drivers. she's just like me fr!

This isn't a labor draft. It's a crackdown. A bloody and unforgiving one, at that. Castillo's forces are going door to door seemingly grabbing people at random for work at the Viviro plantations. They're also taking the opportunity to arrest dissidents. The police has disappeared- Either aiding the soldiers, arrested, or disbanded. The city is on fire. Coming here was a mistake. I need to leave. Now. Capit谩n Mia Moreira, Ej茅rcito Nacional de Uruguay, signing off.

For eight months I've avoided Esperanza. It's so easy to tell that I'm not Yaran so I have avoided enemy soldiers. However, Castillo is ready to announce a draft and my guerrilla sources say the city is under a siege. Something big is about to happen- The draft will be violent. His power will further solidify.
I need to document this...and perhaps I can help.
I will provide an update tomorrow, or as soon as I am able.

My Far Cry 6 OC~!
Denle la bienvenida a Mia Moreira~!
Mia is una fotografa, a photographer, and a guerrilla. She was born and grew up in Uruguay her whole life and, like many Uruguayans at the time, wanted to leave to find a better life. For herself and her family.
Too poor to immigrant, legally or otherwise, to countries like Brazil, Argentina, Australia, or the U.S, Mia made the decision to join the Uruguayan Armed Forces, joining el Ejercito Nacional, or the National Army. This decision trained her as a soldier and also allowed her to see the world. She was deployed in U.N peace keeping missions to Sinai, the Congo, Haiti, and the Central African Republic. It was during this time that she would take on the role of combat photographer and journalist as well.
In 2016, due to increasing international pressure, Yara's presidente Anton Castillo accepted U.N peacekeepers and investigations in Yara. This was due to rumors and accusations of a revival of slavery, human rights abuses, and democratic fraud. In 2018 the product Viviro began to garner international attention, the U.N continued to interfere in domestic politics, and the western world had begun heavily blockading and sanctioning the island. These multitude of actions led to the presidente to evict the U.N from Yara and focus on consolidating his power, working on his promise to revive paradise.
In the very controversial "Batalla de Segunda", which took place in the town of Segunda in the Province of Cruz del Salvador, Yaran forces decisively defeated the under-prepared and outnumbered U.N peacekeepers. A contingent of Uruguay's Parachute Company Skorpion, an anti-terrorist unit, was part of the U.N forces that day, and this was the unit that Mia called family.
The Yarans killed fifty-three peacekeepers and took two hundred and five hostage, eventually freeing them to avoid more severe international action. To this day twenty-three peacekeepers remain missing. One of them is Mia Moreira, remembered by her family and unit in Uruguay for her bravery. Little do they know she chose to remain in Yara. Escaping the Battle of Segunda wounded but still alive, she lost people close to her and witnessed tremendous horrors inflicted on the innocents she was supposed to protect. Mia would spend months searching for other U.N troops to re-group with while hampering the dictatorships progress, and would eventually become an ally of La Moral, although it is unclear if she properly joined the guerrilla group. Her actions against Castillo's dictatorship include intelligence gathering, training the youth in La Moral, and press/propaganda, putting her skills as a special forces soldier, a photographer, and a journalist on full display.
Thanks for reading~! Tell me what you think?
EXTRAS:
Mia is twenty-eight years old. She speaks English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese fluently. She speaks some German as well. She's a lesbian. And if anyone, literally anyone, likes her I'll totally write more.
