hi. i am once again going through the eternal cyclic hell of a landlord 'deciding to renovate' and subsequently giving you 1 months notice that you Have To Move.

as someone whose income comes from Drawing, primarily, saving up a months move-in rent AND a damage deposit payment is a nightmarish and sisyphean task

(i dont know why she thinks we have somewhere else to go for a few months while she renovates. we live here. we would not live here if we had somewhere else to stay.)

i bounced a bit between making a post like this and starting a gofundme, which i may still do, but i more often see posts get more traction

exposition aside, me and my roommate have to move 1st of september. her work has cut her hours like crazy (she gets maybe 2 shifts a week if she's lucky) and i really do not want her to have to move back in with her abusive and homophobic father.

2bedrooms around here go for anywhere from 1200 to 2000. we are of course trying to stay on the cheaper side of things, but as it is, there is No Way we're going to be able to afford first months rent AND a damage deposit.

i would like to try and get at least $1000 (CAD) to put towards a damage deposit for us. i know this is a lot. please do not feel pressured to give beyond your means, even a reblog goes a long way to help.

what is art lore?

It used to refer to when people make dumbass bigoted posts concerning their art, for example there was a person who "didn't like drawing fat people because of an ex-friend" and when they posted a "fat" character it was the skinniest person ever. A lot of them are really obvious bait to get a rise out of people now but that one was genuine I think.

BUT now people just spam "art lore" on posts when they don't like the art style or content, despite it being harmless and not problematic at all. For example my Hazbin redesign tiktok gets a ton of art lore comments for literally no reason other than people not liking it I guess??? Idk man it's a jungle in there.

I wish I could say this off anon, but I can't deal with potential Tumblr bs. I don't like HH, never have, only watched a bit cause I know someone who worked on it. Absolutely not a fan of your redesigns, but I guess you can put that on different tastes. However the one thing that bothers me is the fact that you call the original designs "boring". My brother in Christ. The designs are insane. Maybe you don't like the designs but they're anything but boring, objectively speaking. Considering you have to animate all the patterns and everything - the first thing I thought when I watched it was why tf they didn't simplify the designs. So much details with patterns and colours - I've even seen people complain about the amount of details in the show

Changing a characters colour/ethnicity/bodyshape is the laziest way I've seen to make a character less "boring" and it would be more insulting to me that you would view especially something like skin colour or making a character fat as an improvement when it doesn't take or adds anything.

And I promise you, if someone did the reverse thing with a character design, these get cancelled.

You make great art, that's why I follow you. You have all the freedom to make all the character designs you like. Yet essentially you take someone else's original characters, say the design sucks and change it. It's such a rude waste of time.
