The Ouroboros Cycle released a year ago... yesterday!

I somehow completely forgot the date. You know. The anniversary of the largest piece of work I've ever produced in my life. The release date of the actual novel I wrote. The project that consumed my every waking thought for nearly 15 months.

Writing it was a journey. I didn't go into it expecting to write 140k. I thought it would be more like 40-50k to begin with, and then I sailed past that. But I did go into it aiming to explore Eramis's character further, and to develop a few characters to what I thought they deserved. And boy did that happen. I am so proud to say that several 'fix it' AUs existed before we got anywhere near to the end! Nobody was willing to let go!

I feel my writing and my methods of working grew so much through the course of drafting and editing and re-working TOC. It was a huge learning experience for me, and I'm glad for the opportunities to grow as a writer that it provided. On a personal level, it provided a focus I needed to get through one of the most traumatic periods in my life so far. My crab blorbos and politics were always there for me (perhaps because they were inescapable).

There were also so many points where I hit rock bottom and thought I'd never finish it, and so many times where I hit walls and couldn't get over them (which others managed to solve in about ten minutes flat). Without my group of fellow Eliksni enjoyers and obsessives, the work would not have been completed. So I guess this is also a celebration of being able to come together to accomplish a goal.

I can't really comment on how I feel about the work, as I really only finished it last month. I need a lot more distance to be able to talk about it! But I hope you can join me in celebrating its existence 🥰
