Hello! I recently discovered vulture culture and your work really stood out to me. (Your stuff is absolutely amazing and you're very talented btw). I've always been into taxidermy since a young age and I think it's a possible career for me to pursue. I'm going into High School this year and I'm just not sure where I can start at this age (14) and I was hoping you could offer some advice. I'm also an artist and I love drawing animals especially so I'm really glad I've discovered this. Thank you!
Hi! Thank you so much for the kind compliment! If you’re only going into high school now you have a ton of time to get started, so I wouldn’t stress about it too much. I started when I was in college by teaching myself, then I eventually got a local taxidermist to mentor me. At your age I would focus a lot on art (it is so important to understand animal anatomy!) and start doing taxidermy as much as possible. The more you do it, the more comfortable you feel with it and you’ll get better each time. Don’t get discouraged if your first couple mounts are rough around the edges, mine definitely were. Try to learn as much as you can about taxidermy through YouTube, sites like Taxidermy.net, and in person even if it’s just watching a local taxidermist work.
Once you finish high school you can decide wether you want to go on to college or even a Taxidermy school. Life can change a lot from the beginning of high school to the end, so try your best and don’t be too worried if you get sidetracked. There’s always going to be time to dive into taxidermy wether you’re 14 or 40. Good luck! You can always message me if you need some help!

Your coyote mount that you posted is awesome. Do you happen to sell anything like that? It would be perfect in my house
Thank you! Most things I do are commission based, so I don’t often have spare projects up for sale. If you have a coyote and you’d like to have one commissioned I can absolutely do that! Just send me an email at [email protected] :)

2018 has been an absolutely insane year, and I’m almost to a point where I can spill my big announcement. Not quite there yet, but very soon. I hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2019, especially those who had a less than stellar year. Cheers and a big thank you to every single person who follows me, I appreciate it immensely ❤️

Sometimes I do cleaning and mount debugging jobs for people and it is amazing to see what antique pieces people own. Feels so bizarre and wrong to be cleaning polar bear rugs and pre-mbta raptors!

This is Egore. He was a very loved pet jenday conure who passed away this year. Egore was known to be a cocky little bird with an attidude, so his family wanted him mounted with his head tilted to show off his personality.

A couple months ago John stopped to pick up a fawn that was hit by a car for me and I just got around to skinning him. I am deeply saddened and honored at the same time to have opportunities like this. He’s actually quite large, so it’s definitely going to be a challenge when I get around to mounting him!

Ok so this gray fox pedestal is in my opinion the nicest mount I’ve done so far in my career. Super proud of her!

Just two blackbuck hanging out. Blackbuck are known as the Indian antelope or even more informally: the emo antelope
