Summary: Kageyama made a promise to be your best friend through everything. But he didn’t seem to like that promise when you moved to Hyogo when he needed you the most.

You’ll find something waiting right there where you left it, lying upside down

“Hey Tobio? Promise me that we’ll always be friends. Even if one of us is gone.” Staring up at the familiar ceiling, you had missed the way your best friend looked at you. He didn’t understand where the question came from when you were previously talking about how much you missed seeing Oikawa and Iwaizumi. Maybe it was a rhetorical question? You’d tell him if something was going on like you always do right?

Feeling a bit uneasy with the silence, you looked at him, wondering why he was taking so long to answer. “I’ll promise if you do.” He replied and you playfully rolled your eyes, trying to keep your eyes from watering. You were afraid he wouldn’t catch on but still said nothing to confirm anything.

“I promise Tobio-chan.” As he got ready to speak up, to make his promise in return, your parents had called for you. Grabbing your things quickly, you waved goodbye. You knew this was your last time seeing him, yet you didn’t give him time to say anything else. ‘I could tell you tomorrow’, he thought. Little did he know he wasn’t going to be given that chance.

When you finally find it, you’ll see how it’s faded

“Y/n! I was asked to see what was taking so long. Kita-san doesn’t want us to be late.” Akagi called as you finished filling up the last water bottle for the team. Going to the third year, you began to head back to the gym Inarizaki were currently practicing in before their game. Making it to nationals was definitely not a surprise to you. When you began school, you were aware of how impressive their team was, especially with the Miya twins on it. Though you certainly didn’t expect to be asked if you could be the manager.

You already had plans on becoming one, if given the opportunity. It was certainly challenging with how much the twins fought but you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Pulling the door open, you heard an all to familiar voice. “Y/n watch it!” Atsumu yelled and you stepped to the side, barely dodging the ball.

“Are you trying to get rid of me?” You ask, placing the water bottle with the others. He stood for a moment, placing his hand on his chin like he needed to think about the answer before he shrugged. You roll your eyes at him and toss another ball so he could serve again. Five minutes until they needed to go on court and go against Karasuno Highschool.

You always wondered why the place sounded so familiar to you. Sure Kageyama has talked about it before when you were younger but it never stood out to you. Thinking of your friend, you wondered if he made it into Shiratorizawa or if he was going to follow in Oikawa’s footsteps and go to Aobajohsai. The longer you thought about your former best friend, you realized why Karasuno sounded familiar. “Atsumu! Who was the other setter at the training camp and what school did he go to?”

“Tobio Kageyama and he goes to Karasuno. Why?” By now everyone’s attention was on you. Not very surprising considering you had asked rather loudly and stopped the setter from serving for the last time. You weighed your options on telling them or not for a moment before speaking.

“Yeah, we knew each other before I moved here.”

“Well you’ll see him in a few minutes if that matters.” Akagi spoke, not sure if you even wanted to see him. Honestly you weren’t even sure if you wanted to see him either. It had been so long since you were friends and made that promise that you didn’t really want to open any old wounds. Before replying, the coach called for the team to head into the main gymnasium. Your stomach began to churn, the nervousness of what could happen when you saw him began eating at you.

A hand lightly touched your shoulder and you turned your head, meeting Osamu’s gaze. “You’ll be fine.” That was all he said before going past you and heading out with the team. You took in a breath before exhaling and following the guys. Your eyes roamed the court, looking for the familiar black hair that you had grown up with. It didn’t take long for you to see him talking to the coach and the number ten. Although nothing about him changed, the way he held himself was much different than the way he had when you were younger. You regretted not being able to grow up with him and seeing the progress he had made.

Water’s getting higher as the shore washes out

“Tobio? Do you think you’ll become a professional volleyball player?” You carefully set the ball over to him before he set it back. You knew he was starting to become relatively serious about the sport so you were curious on how far he was wanting to go.

“I hope so.” He replied, holding onto the ball whenever you had sent it back over to him. “I want to play as a setter too if I can.”

You hummed in acknowledgement, heading to your home as he followed behind you. There was only 5 days until you were moving and you still hadn’t told him. It’s not like you didn’t want to but you were worried about how he would react whenever you told him. The guilt was already eating away at you since you’ve known about the move for a couple of months. You had plenty of opportunities to tell him what was going on and you knew that you owed it to him to tell the truth but you just… couldn’t.

“You ok?” Kageyama asked, pulling you away from your thoughts. You gave him a fake smile, knowing that he wouldn’t tell the difference.

“Yep! Just thinking about how much of a nerd you are.” You reply, messing with his hair. He rolled his eyes in annoyance, smacking your hands away from his hair before fixing it to how it was originally.

“You’re the nerd, nerd.”

“Woooow amazing comeback Tobio-chan.” As the words left your mouth, he narrowed his eyes, rolling the volleyball in his hand around. You glanced at it, realizing what he was about to do before running. The two of you spent the rest of the day chasing each other with the volleyball in a game of tag.

Everything stays right where you left it

“Damn it! I can’t believe we lost.” Atsumu complained as you walked with the team. Kita let out a sigh, knowing there really wasn’t anything to say to make the team feel better. Especially after he made the comment of wishing he could say that he was proud of his team one last time.

“I can’t believe you declared to set for Hinata in front of everyone.” You joked, wanting to help lighten the mood. Atsumu glanced at you, playfully smacking into your shoulder with his. It had worked, just a little bit, but enough to make a ghost of a smile stay on his handsome features. “It was sweet.” You spoke up again, a little softer for just his ears. “I hope you actually get to do that at some point.”

“I do too.” He muttered. Before you had stepped into the locker room to clean things up, Atsumu grabbed your wrist lightly, stopping you in your tracks. You turn, furrowing your eyebrows in confusion and a little annoyance. “Want to go with me to wish Tobio luck?” You didn’t have to say anything, he knew exactly what your response was by the way your eyes seemed to soften at the mention of his name.

The two of you excused yourselves, letting Kita know where you were heading in case he needed you later. It took a lot more time than you both anticipated. But whenever you finally found him and Hinata, Atsumu wasted no time calling out to him. They began to speak as you quietly stood behind Atsumu, not wanting to interrupt their conversation. After they had spoken Hinata made a comment about the two needing to head back to the rest of their team.

You panicked momentarily, not sure if you’ll ever see him again. Atsumu nudged you forward so that you would be seen. Finally taking the opportunity you finally spoke up “Tobio-chan?” You were scared, not sure if he’d even remember you anymore. He froze, recognizing the voice that called him. Turning back towards you, he silently encouraged you to continue. “Um… we used to be friends when we were younger. I just wanted to say good luck with your next game.”

“Thanks. But I don’t remember who you are.” That was a lie. He knew exactly who was speaking to him. But after being abandoned by you in his childhood, he didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that he knew you. It was fair. You knew that. But it didn’t stop the pain that grew in your chest. Glancing at Atsumu, he nods, knowing you wanted to say more but didn’t know if you should.

Sighing, you looked back at Kageyama. “I didn’t expect you to. I moved during our second year of junior high. We made a ridiculous promise to stay best friends even if one of us was gone. But um, good luck again! We probably need to head back.”

“I didn’t make that promise. You left before I had the opportunity.” Kageyama admitted. As you went to look at him, he was already lost in the crowd of people. ‘Next year, I promise to talk to you more.’ You promised to yourself before following Atsumu back to where your team was waiting.

Haikyuu! boys final words to you

Hinata: You guys have been married for almost a decade. You had two children now too. When your house had erupted into flames he wasn’t as scared as you, but happy the kids were not in the house. Flames surrounded the two of you leaving no room for a possible escape. The two of you laid still on the ground waiting to soon be engulfed by the inevitable. Tears welled up in your eyes as you looked at your husband. He only wrapped his arms around you and smiled. He spoke to you softly in almost a whisper, “Don’t be scared.” he paused squeezing you tighter still smiling. “We’re together.”

Tsukishima: You couldn’t help the fear that flowed through your body as your car dangled of the side of bridge. The rocking back and forth of the car made the hairs on your neck stand. Though you hadn’t looked down you knew what waited many feet under. The big body of water that would swallow not only you but your boyfriend too once the car finally fell scared you. “Tsukki, I’m scared.” You whispered to your boyfriend of three years now. He pulled you into a tight embrace pushing your face into his chest so you wouldn’t look down once you guys fell in a few seconds. “Everything will be fine love.” he said steadfast while looking down at the water himself still pressing you into his chest. He knew everything wouldn’t be fine but he wanted you to feel serenity in your last few seconds. A tear rolled down his cheek before he whispered out his final thought “I love you scaredy-cat.”

Sugawara: Everything in your sight was spinning as blood dripped down the side of your face. You weren’t surprised when you turned you head to see your boyfriend covered in blood, it was everywhere. On the dashboard, on your clothes, on the window and everywhere else in the car. You stared at each other silently as felt a constant thump in your head. You could barely hear anything over the ringing in your ears. Finally working up the strength to break the silence you spoke, “Suga...Don’t forget about me, please.” it only took those words before a pool of never ending tears started flowing. He looked into your eyes with that same comforting smile he always wore. “What are you talking about, I’m not leaving you.” Sugawara wasn’t worried like you, he knew if he was with you he’d be ok because you would take care of him. And he would take care of you. “But in your next life-” he cut you off almost laughing. “We’ll be together there too.” “I promised you forever and that’s what will happen silly.” He let out a small contagious laugh, despite the pain he was in. you only laughed lightly with him. Until you couldn’t anymore.

Haikyu!! Boys At A Party

Yasss I put Kuroo, KiLl MeEe

(Kageyama’s was kinda long, I got carried away a bit)

Hinata: Don’t @ me butttt I feel like Hinata can lowkey dance just picture it. Baby is living his best life making new “friends” and dancing obvi. He isn’t very pressed about drinking (Probably got a mocktail thinking he might actually get drunk). Convinces Kenma to somehow dance with him. Eventually he finds Bokuto and they are just...being WILD. They are running around the place just clowning. He somehow gets a kiss on the cheek from a random girl (she probably thought he was CuTe~ [can’t blame her]) and then he’s just blushing up a storm. He’s like “Bokuto-san did you see THAT!” loud asf.

All in all I give his party vibe a 10/10 would highly recommend.

Tanaka and Nishinoya: I’m doing them together because they are together the whole time. Well until the ladies appear (that’s another story, ok? ok.). You think Bo and Hinata are bad? plzzz. These two are spilling drinks, in the bump and grind conga line (with some thique chicks), and anything else you can think of. They are playing beer pong, darts, and every game you can imagine (and are being hella competitive too). Eventually some girls crowd around them in an intense ping pong match and both the dudes are just soooo excited. Tanaka leaves with a few lipstick marks on his face (and they are not the queen’s) and Noya leaves with random phone numbers (from gals) on napkins, pieces of paper, and himself. The next day when they wake up they call each other and are like “LAST NIGHT WAS AWESOMEEE!”

They showed up.

Showed out.

And left.

10/10!!!!!!!

Sugawara: Suga can rap. I am not arguing about it. I knowww he has bars bro. Suga is hella sassy once he warms up to you so after a little booze he is in a freestyle circle somewhere. This man is spitting straight FIRE. The girls hear his bars and think he’s cute so they start grinding on him and ish and he cannot take ittt. Babie is just sent for a loop. Eventually he get’s away from the girls and he talks with Asahi for a bit in the kitchen before sliding back up on the scene. He starts talking to new people and tells them about how he plays volleyball and he starts telling them about his babies. He dances some more before heading home (He got school tomorrow honey~).

And I am not mad it him for leaving periottt.

Suga was on his own vibe 10/10

Kageyama: Kageyama prepared for this. He already knew beforehand he was not the most sociable person so bbyboi was watching YouTube vids the day before on how to avoid being socially awkward at a party. He was planning on staying in the corner and doing the fake texting thing butttt the video said not to do that because everybody knows that trick. So he did the thing that came up in all the videos he had watched; Stay in a group. But the only group he could really stay with was Tsukki and Yams. He tried to put up with Tsukishima for his own sake but he couldn’t take anymore king gabs so he stormed off far way from them. Now he is alone and eventually he wanders upon the DJ set up. The DJ asks what song he should mix in with the current playing song and Kageyama gets so nervous he just blurts a random song. (The song he blurted out was an opera type song so now he’s mad at himself questioning why he said that [poor baby]). But when the DJ mixes it in and overlaps it with the heavy beat party music the shit lowkey bangs. Actually highkey because the crowd get’s so hyped up that the DJ felt the need to shout Kageyama out. Next thing he knows he’s crowd surfing and everybody is chanting his name. You can guess how the rest of his night went.

Life of the party? 10/10 baby!

I’ll probably make another part but you guys can request specific characters (only if you want to)
