You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

Jonathan Sims my BELOVED (also i find it so funny I pictured him and Martin (and Tim in a lot of cases) similarly to how people in the fandom draw them kdjvgt The only difference was how I pictured Basira and Sasha (and the NotThem Sasha !). My uncle did this once with my aunt when they had their first kid. Hes an ex preacher (read: conman, he stole so much money during that grift), but when my cousin, their first kid, was like less than a month old, she was coming home from the store and he did that with the rapture He striped him and their infant down, but left their stuff laid out like how they would have been if he was sitting on the couch and my cousin in his crib And so she came home and saw their clothes and my uncles glasses laying there, she thought it had happened so she starts screaming and crying and sobbing and he lets her do this for a minute before he comes out, butt ass naked laughing his ass off at her ........

So, yeah, anyways, my cousin is like 21 now and my aunt and uncle are separated, but not divorced cause he doesnt want to pay child support for his two under 18 kids (they have 5 children) My grandma still laughs when she tells this story like it isnt the most fucked up thing you could do to a woman who shouldnt even be out of bed after giving birth less a couple weeks prior

When I was a kid my family pretended to get raptured so I would think I was left behind on earth while they all went to heaven.

I was like 8 years old and my sister and mom had gotten really into the Left Behind novels (bible fan fic about the rapture). In the books when the rapture happened the clothes that people were wearing when they got raptured were left behind in neatly folded piles.

One day when I was getting home from school my family decided that they would leave piles of neatly folded clothes around the house, and then hide in the basement.

The intended effect was that I would get home and see the clothes then, think that my family had been raptured and that I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven… or something?

The problem was that I had never read these books, and didn’t really think about the rapture very often. There was no reason that I would see some laundry on the floor and think “The rapture happened and I’ve been abandoned by God! I’ll never see my family again!! Oh nooo!!!!”

I just sat down and watched cartoons and eventually my family got bored and revealed that they were all hiding in the basement.

It’s a good thing I didn’t understand the joke, otherwise that shit would have been traumatic.

I had a dream about the magnus archive and now I have a new oc and personal fic I'm writing for myself. It likely wont see the light of day, but to sum it up, in the dream I was in the place of this oc, but I knew in my dream logic that I wasnt *me as I am irl*, but that I was this person And this person was an avatar of a new power, which didnt feed off fear and was the first one of that manner to ever show up. No one knew about it and neither did this person, who was already at the point of being nonhuman but JUST DIDNT KNOW. Dream was all over the place, but I wrote most of it down in confused dream journaling

Lowkey favorite part was them realizing this power fed off of love and happiness and when it started to emerge and take form in the world, there was more prominence of poly couples and people being open and happy about their relationships adkfhrh It was a good dream, minus the horrors, which i didnt even feel cause it wasnt a nightmare, so I'm gonna take creative liberty and say my new oc cant feel fear bc hes an avatar of this one new power 10/10 would dream again kjerghr

YES. Theres no such thing as bad writing!! Theres just writing that is and isnt for other people!! Young writers arent bad writers, they just dont have their footing yet! Its good for their skill level! Even if you look back and feel bad about your old writing, you should be able to remember how proud of it you were!!! This goes for art too!!!! No bad art!!!!!!
