A few years ago my area had a blizzard that dumped somewhere around 3 feet of snow on us in a 36 hour period. The plows could not keep up. I lived 15 minutes from work, one town away (which my work knows).

At 8am I got a call from work stating that I was still expected to show up for my overnight shift. 10 minutes later the DOT closed the highway between our towns.

I called my boss to let him know. And do you know what he said?

"They'll open the highways up for you and our other out of town workers because you're essential personel." This was. well. a lie.

He expexted us to put our lives at risk and attempt to drive through all this snow (it was snowing heavily all day).

I did not go to my shift that night. I felt bad that I couldn't be there to help my coworkers who had made it.

Did our boss stay to help? No, he had left at noon that day to get home (he lived 2 blocks away).

I quit my job about 3 months later.

the original post is not exaggerating. Everywhere (at least in the US) where there is crisis, where there are sick people who should NOT be at work, there are bosses whining about being a team player.

Am I happy Watcher rolled back their plan and apologized? Yes. Have I still lost any desire to watch their videos? Yes. Do I think people are being too harsh towards Steven, singling him out and such? Yes. Do I think Steven and Andrew bringing back worth it in the middle of a global cost of living crisis is extremely out of touch? Yes.

All of these things can coexist. Feelings towards the situation can be complex. It happens.
