Geeta was honestly such a disappointment as a champion. All the other major characters were fun and actually fought somewhat okay, even if they didn’t let their Pokémon have move pools. But Geeta just… misused a third of her team. And right after saying she won’t hold back. So glad she isn’t the actual final boss.

16 - Sword and Shield

These poses are nothing special, and to be honest the background just looks kind of lazy.
15 - Black and White

The background is almost nonexistent, and the legendaries aren’t doing anything interesting. Overall, it’s just kind of bland.
14 - Ruby and Sapphire

Not very dynamic poses, but the backgrounds are nice, and I like the layering! Not a fan of the white circles though.
13 - Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Barely any background, but the poses are decent, and the shining gems are a nice touch!
12 - Gold, Silver, and Crystal

Relatively dynamic poses, and the background is decent. Still, nothing to write home about.
11 - FireRed and LeafGreen

Love the poses. The backgrounds are alright, and the colors look pleasant.
10 - Red and Blue

Solid design! Pretty dynamic poses, and I like the layering! Background is pretty simple, but it works!
9 - HeartGold and SoulSilver

I really like the scenery in the background, and the mirrored poses are cool! Color schemes feel like variations on the same color, but overall a good design.
8 - Diamond and Pearl

Love the backgrounds, and the update to logo positions compared to older games is really nice! Still, the poses are pretty basic, which brings it down a couple ranks.
7 - Platinum

Love the background and pose, but the best part is the glow Giratina has across its whole body.
6 - Scarlet and Violet

Good poses, and the scaley backgrounds look really cool! Plus, I cannot stress how much I love the storybook theme.
5 - Sun and Moon

The poses are nice, but the real kicker is the mirrored sun and moon backgrounds.
4 - Black 2 and White 2

Holy hell these are cool. The poses convey a battle going on, and the fire and lightning in the background show you what you’re going to be getting into.
3 - Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

YES. Dynamic poses and angles, and the backgrounds fit the games perfectly. These are what Ruby and Sapphire should have been.

Those poses! Also, the way putting both boxes together forms a picture of Ultra Necrozma is such a cool idea!

Absolutely gorgeous, the poses are dynamic, the backgrounds have beautiful colors, and the letters highlight the shaded background in such a perfect way! Love these box arts.

I’ve seen a lot of ideas for what happened to Emmet after Ingo disappeared. For a few, Emmet ends up in some other random place. For many, Emmet gets the Big Sad and takes the only logical next step, which is to fight God. For some, Emmet is just depressed in his apartment.
But one idea I thought I would see a lot of that I haven’t seen anywhere is Emmet in Ancient Unova.
For this, Emmet would end up in Ye Olde Unova at the same time Ingo is in Hisui. It would work pretty well, considering there are plenty of documented events in Unovan history to work with. I figured, Ye Olde Unova was a medieval kingdom, so that would be a fun theme to work with too.
Now, where would Emmet come into all this? Well, what’s a job in a medieval kingdom that needs you to be a really good battler? That’s right, a knight! I figure, maybe Emmet could accidentally himself into the role of a high-ranking knight, and he’d take on a somewhat similar importance to the Wardens in Hisui.
Throughout everything, Emmet is convinced that Ingo ended up in Ye Olde Unova too, and is searching everywhere for him.
The plot for this idea isn’t very fleshed out yet, but I noticed a distinct lack of Ye Olde Emmet and felt I needed to change that.

A brief summary of the three main theories for how Ingo ended up in Hisui:
Theory 1: The One the Game Points To
Basically, Ingo was in the wrong place at the wrong time and fell through a rift. Or, maybe he wandered in through a space-time distortion? Either way, it’s Giratina’s fault. Maybe he lost his memory during the time travel, or maybe he just tripped and hit his head on a rock. Who knows. Either way, it’s Giratina’s fault.
Theory 2: The One That Uses Previously Established Lore
Ingo is a Faller. Similarly to Theory 1, Ingo just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and wandered into an Ultra Wormhole. In Sun and Moon, its established that Ultra Wormholes can transport people across space, time, and even universes while at the same time causing amnesia. This theory explains everything perfectly, and uses concepts that have already been explored, but it’s not too fun.
Theory 3: The Fun One
According to this theory, Arceus really loves that Battle Subway. So, when he needed someone to go to Hisui and fix everything, he was just like “this is my chance” and yeeted Ingo through time and space. Sadly, Arceus got a bit too excited and accidentally gave Ingo a minor case of severe amnesia. He pretended that he had nothing to do with Ingo and sent you to Hisui, this time with a phone that tells you exactly what to do and where to go so the amnesia thing isn’t a problem.

Game Freak really went through a breakup with trains.
Gen 5: They start off with an absolutely fantastic relationship with trains! With the Battle Subway as one of the most recognizable parts of the games, as well as an entire train town, the Train Game is going strong!
Gen 6: There’s still plenty of trains around the region, and one even takes you to the postgame. The Train Game isn’t as strong in Kalos as it was in Unova, but it’s still clearly there.
Gen 7: Game Freak starts ignoring trains. There are no trains in Alola, and it would be difficult to implement them, seeing as Alola is a region made of islands. The relationship has deteriorated.
Gen 8: Now Game Freak is starting to get pissy at trains. You are forced to ride trains for the story, and half the time they are interrupted! Because NOBODY on the trains could move a flock of Wooloo. Obviously.
PLA: This gets its own section. Because GameFreak decided to not only ruin the reputations of the trains themselves in Gen 8, but also split up Ingo and Emmet, who are basically the faces of trains in Pokémon.
Long story short, Pokémon and trains went through a nasty breakup and are now exes.

In regards to my last post: Hisuian Pokeballs do indeed have a locking mechanism. This begs the question: what happened to it?
Please keep in mind that I am using the anime for some evidence, and the anime definitely doesn’t align with the games.
In the Celebi movie, we see that Pokeballs from a few decades prior to “modern day” are made of metal, and have what appears to be a combination lock:
I assume that these exist for decreasing the chances of the Pokémon escaping randomly, much like the locks on PLA Pokeballs. Now, this brings us back to the question of what happened to them. While all historical Pokeballs have some sort of locking mechanism, modern Pokeballs have nothing of the sort, and in the anime we sometimes see Pokémon come out of modern Pokeballs all on their own. The most famous example of this is Wobbuffet, and with the trouble it escaping causes, it makes sense why older Pokeballs would have some security in place to prevent Pokémon from randomly popping out.
So, what happened to get rid of any sort of lock? Are people more trusting of their Pokémon? Are locks not able to work well with modern Pokeballs? Or is it just because it’s cheaper for manufacturers to make Pokeballs without locks?

Okay, so what’s up with the new Hisuan Pokeball design? I can’t figure it out for the life of me. When I first saw I just kind of assumed it was a zipper or something right here:

But seeing it in-game I’m not actually sure what to make of it, because it definitely has a normal opening like modern Pokeballs:

The best idea I’ve come up with is that it’s some sort of locking mechanism. Honestly, that actually seems like the only thing it could be after seeing it in-game. It would lock like this:

I know that the whole design is just to make it look familiar but also foreign in the game, but I can’t work this Pokeball out. Plus, things get even more confusing when you start to think about all the information about past Pokeballs we’ve gotten in the series!

Okay, so I’ve seen ideas in a couple places of a new ace for Emmet being Falinks because it looks kind of like a train, and I must say I like it. It implies that Emmet found himself in Galar with no explanation, saw a monster ready to murder him, and just went “omg train”

Guys, so I think Crobat would actually be a potential new ace for Emmet in a future Legends game. Hear me out.
Okay, so, first it lives in caves, and in PLA it’s actually in that cave you go through with Ingo, serving as a minor roadblock.
It also has a constant frown. Now, I know this may sound like a stupid point because isn’t the whole frown-smile dynamic just for the twins? And to that I say, well, yes, but I find it notable that Ingo’s new ace is Gliscor, a Pokémon with a perpetual smile. I think that extending this dynamic to the Pokémon would be interesting, and might serve to expand both of their characters a bit more (why did Ingo choose Gliscor as his ace? Is it because the smile felt familiar?)
One issue I was grappling with for a bit about this choice of Crobat was that it has horrible overlap with Gliscor, and they wouldn’t be a good pair in a multi battle. Then I realized, wait a minute, that could be used as a sort of way to show how Ingo and Emmet were forced to be separated for who-knows-how-long, so of course their Pokémon wouldn’t be a good pair.
Hence, why I think Crobat would be a good choice as Emmet’s new ace if he appears in a future Legends game.
