I plan on picking Sprigatito when scarlet and violet come out. And while I have a first choice name (Catnip), I don't have a backup name if the Nintendo censors refuse to allow Catnip. Any ideas?
My own idea for Sprigatito was to translate the names of various green herbs into Spanish. I went with Tomillo for mine, which is thyme - and has the added benefit of referencing a tomcat.
Other options I didn't choose are
Romero - rosemary
Eneldo - dill
Perifollo - chervil

In the meantime, I'll share the names I've thought up for the Scarlet/Violet starters! Keep in mind these are without knowing any of the evos, and so may not be fitting later.
Sprigatito
Cilantro: happens to be my favorite herb, but it's also a staple of Spanish cooking. (Sorry if you have the soap gene 😔)
Fuecoco
Caymenne: A combination name of caiman, a kind of small alligator, and cayenne, a spicy pepper
Quaxly
Mariner: It seems to have a little sailor aesthetic which I think is super cute (also I love the Seattle Mariners so)

Howdy folks! We know it's been a while, but we're a lot more energized and excited about the series than we have been, so over the next few days we'll be updating the look of the blog, updating our directory and working through some of our backlog of requests (and deleting ones that don't meet our minimal criteria!)
We're excited to be back at it!

What would be a good nickname for my female Skarmory?
Its feathers, which fall off as it grows, are thin and sharp. In times long past, warriors used them as swords. Its metal body is sturdy, but it does rust rather easily. So on rainy days, this Pokémon prefers to stay put in its nest. The wing feathers it sheds can be processed and made into knives whose sharpness is recognized by the finest chefs. Its body is draped in steel armor. It looks heavy, but it can fly at speeds of up to 185 miles an hour!
Medoh: After the divine beast Vah Medoh in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Falchion: A type of sword, relating to it’s sharp, blade-like feathers. Also sounds a bit like falcon, a bird of prey.
Icarus: Named for the greek mythical figure who’s father crafted him mechanical wings.
Mercury: Roman god of travel with feathers on his feet, and also a metal! (The roman version of Hermes, which might also work here just without the added component of being a heavy metal.)
