envisioned as an archipelago of interconnected halo-like masses, the ‘epiphyte chamber’ by canadian studio PBAI philip beesley architect inc. mimics human sensations through subtle, coordinated movements. conceived as an ‘epiphyte’, an aerial plant species that can grow without the support of soil, the immersive sculpture explores artificial intelligence, digital fabrication and interactive technologies to create a near-living environment. across each floating island, densely interwoven structures and delicate canopies made of thousands of lightweight components are drawn together in harmonious breathing and whispers. hovering fabric helps to frame the suspended pieces, lined with bulging, fluid-filled vessels and glands. the faunal groups contain metabolisms with chemicals, which move in response to slow reactions.

Check out this TED talk to find out more about the relationship between architecture, design, functionality and the city. What I enjoyed the most are the min 7.40 - 14, discussing the concept and development of the UK Pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai (2010).
You can find here other awesome projects from the Heatherwick Studio.

How would you react if you saw a painting coming to life? Or otherwise, movement and depth flattened to a 2D image?
Check out the video to see how painting directly on people or objects can trick your eye. Photoshop and great reproduction skills aren’t always needed to create an authentic painting. Or a picture of the painting, for that matter.

Beautiful jewelry design and great marketing idea.
These necklaces are inspired by the molecules of caffeine, LSD, nicotine and others alike, and I bet that they wouldn't look so appealing if they were advertised as presenting 'boring' substances such as milk or paracetamol.
You can find more of the 'wearable vices' collection here.

ART: Surreal Sculptures by Bruno Catalano
French sculptor Bruno Catalano works in bronze sculpture, with a reoccuring motif. His figures are always lacking mid sections, and seem to be eerily suspended in mid air.
Each of his sculptures feature somebody with a suitcase in hand, usually with an introspective or uncertain expression.

Yes, gender inequality exists, and Google search results prove how popular the views that women 'should', 'cannot' and 'need to' are. UN Women and Ogilvy & Mather Dubai came up with this series of thought-provoking ads that highlight the wordlwide problem of gender discrimination. Great print execution that doesn't only emphasize the revolting opinions about women, but also the fact that the options of 'not accepting the way things are' or 'not suffering from discrimination anymore' are largely ignored.
