One of my favorite parts of The X-Files is when Scully insults someone or teases Mulder and Mulder's face just LIGHTS UP. Every time she does it he looks like it's the greatest day of his life. He's so into that.

The live Krycek reaction the first time he sees Mulder and Scully together in the Quantico morgue is *chefs kiss* SO FUNNY

Mulder walking into the morgue so happy to see her but also keenly aware that he’s toting along an imposter and Scully won’t like it

Mulder being like half a mile in front of Krycek like the door fully shuts between Mulder and Krycek walking in

The way Scully’s face immediately drops the second she spots Krycek

Krycek hanging back until Mulder introduces him??? Like my guy already knew he wasn’t invited.

Mulder hesitating telling Scully he and Krycek are “working the case together.” Not partners. Just “working the case together.”

Scully making every indication that she’s going in for a handshake just to cold shoulder him THE WOMAN YOU ARE

Krycek’s FACE when he gets cold-shouldered 😂

Mulder also immediately ditching him to follow on Scully’s heels like the good little trained puppy he is uwu

Krycek turning to see the body: *immediately wants to throw up* (in hindsight, I think this was an act, but it’s HILARIOUS to think this is his first stiff)

Classic synced-up Mulder and Scully leveling Krycek with the most unimpressed looks you can get

Mulder fully turning to face Scully (the man’s shoulders are entirely perpendicular to the table), which also entirely blocks Scully from Krycek (this is the kind of shit you read in fic when Character A shields Character B with their body I’m hnng)

His apologetic look because they’re both already sick of this guy

*continues to scream about the tiny bubble he created for them to share*

Scully’s body language being a bit more closed off (girl fair if my ex-partner who I’m in love with showed up to my new job with a new FBI partner man I would want to appear nothing short of entirely emotionless and professional, too)

Fox “I do not gaze at Scully” Mulder hella gazing at Scully as she literally talks about the dead guy lying on the table right next to them.

Fox “hehe I love when my doctor talks forensics to me” Mulder coming in with some hella heart eyes

The way Krycek slinks into the frame but Mulder and Scully are entirely ignoring him. By choice or by “we’re so enraptured by each other the entire rest of the universe may as well not even exist” is up to you. My favorite option changes depending on my mood.

Until Krycek butts in with the very helpful “there was no fire 😐” like thanks Einstein

Mulder and Scully going straight back to ignoring him 🥰

I’m so obsessed with the camera angle change to be over Krycek’s shoulder because even though you can see him in the shot he’s completely erasable. Like cropping your ex out of social media pics. AND the zoom just slowly does exactly that: shunt him out of frame 😂 he literally goes ENTIRELY out of the frame as the camera zooms on Mulder and Scully standing facing directly at one another with maybe a foot of space between them

And THEN the camera cuts to a shot of Krycek where it’s focused on him (but he’s still framed by Mulder and Scully) and it’s just… THEE “live Krycek reaction” shot. He’s the “live ___ reactions BLUEPRINT. He’s been entirely extraneous this entire scene but they gave him a shot JUST FOR THAT.

Cut back to Mulder and Scully getting progressively closer as Scully starts to whisper her diagnosis because she feels insecure making her deductions in front of someone who isn’t her spooky-loving boyfriend.

Amazing. Just incredible. *chef’s kiss* indeed

my personal opinion is that we should have gotten at LEAST five (5) episodes of mulder & krycek being partners before we even get to The Conference Room Reveal. sleepless gave us a taste of what could've been and it wasn't nearly enough. think of the potential emotional impact, think of the Flavor!

i will forever be salty we didn't get that mini-arc, that we didn't get those moments before everything fell apart.
