ooc: blog refresh
I’ve noticed this blog has taken an odd turn at some point that I never really planned on it to take, but it’s at an odd point where I can’t really turn it back around… I’m not very pleased with it though, in all honesty! So I think it’s about time to do this here thing
This blog is officially getting refreshed. It’s starting anew, from the end of Sloop’s backstory and forward, just like when the blog first started.
How’m I gonna do this, you ask? Start anew on a new blog! It’s currently still in the works, but I will post a link to it when it is finished very soon.
I do plan on keeping some established relationships in his story, though! Message me if you’d like me to keep your muse and Sloop’s status and we can figure it out.

Her joke stirred another little chuckle, though it came to a small stop as he looked around with a small "Ah." It was getting dark. If they were just a pinch further south this would be alright, but they were in the tundra. Night time was dangerous -- not only because of predators, but the cold itself granted a death wish for those not careful.
The masked man's head turned left and right. He couldn't see any towns nearby, though those tinted lenses on his mask did not help much with the dark. "...we uh...we gettin' close?" He didn't mean to risk offending the native, but he was not good at hiding worry either. Unless it was just around a snow bank they did not seem close to anything.
A chortle slipped through a small grin. The fading daylight did not seem to dawn on Sloop yet nor did her growing concern.
“You could!” he mused. “That’d be interestin’. Especially since he doesn’ seem like he’s used to havin’ friends.” A hand slid from his pocket to lightly scratch at his cheek with a fingertip. “Though, I don’t know if he considers us friends just yet… Ah’d like to think he does.”
Again the man chuckled. Despite being the worried one earlier, he seemed more focused on the conversation now than their walk. It was both relieving and delightful to hear that the grump had made more friends!
Demi smiled a little, “I mean, if he’s not physically throwing you out of his forest, then I imagine he thinks pretty highly of you.” She joked. “Or at least respects you.” She added with a little grin.
As much as she enjoyed the good conversation and the fact that he was still happy, she was slowly growing more concerned. For a while she really debated letting him be the one to say something first. “Ah… Sun’s going down.” She admitted, teal eyes looking up to the slowly darkening sky and then back to Sloop. Embarrassment and slight worry were very tough things for her to conceal.

It took him a moment to connect the dots, but as soon as it clicked the Mudman's eyes blinked wide with an intrigued twinkle glistening his gaze. Another chortle pushed a smirk across his face, the goofy expression only visible by one eye pushed into a crescent, before he shifted his hold on both pieces to examine them more closely.
"Y'know," he began, partially speaking to the guardian and thinking out loud "Ah've never heard of anyone makin' dyes from plants 'round these parts! 'Cept for m’self, that is." His face was practically buried in the cloths with how closely he was examining them while he spoke. The more he thought about it, the more he realized he had completely forgotten where those recipes went -- and they always had more chemicals in them than desired.
Sloop’s hands lowered and attention turned to Eremite with a cheery smile, though quiet hesitance hid behind his curiosity. "Ah'd love to learn how ya make those dyes sometime, if ya don't mind sharin'." He hoped it was alright to even ask. Trolls were more often than not fiercely territorial over even trivial things.

Eremite scratched his neck. Well that wasn’t very hard to do. He hadn’t noticed all the dark colors Sloop wore until now….

And there he was! It was a little surprising to see him walk over and past instead of dropping from the skies as he usually did, but the shivering certainly caught his attention much more. A trace of concern crossed his stare, but was quick to adjusting his hold on the sack and following Eremite with just nod and a small "Gotcha."
Let him do business now, then talk later. Good plan.
Season Change
Eremite awoke in his den bundling under his fur cloak. He tensed at the cold air when he fully regained consciousness, and quickly went to work reviving his fire from the night before. After regaining his warmth from the weak flames he tried to stretch out the tension built up n his muscles from the night.
The air was very crisp this morning, even there deep in his den. As Eremite stood and approached the den mouth, it grew even cooler. He looked out to see many of the leaves had already shifted to the various colors of fall.
Eremite sighed and walked back in to warm himself by the fire for a minute longer before calmly using the remains of his dinner last night to make a morning broth for himself. He drank it as slowly as he could. He would have to try to keep as warm as he could.
He would have to travel to last year’s winter den today. His supplies for the season would all be hidden away there. Eremite popped his neck with a groan. If he didn’t do anything else today, he was going to at least get his hands on his larger cloak. He was not wanting to spend another night hiding under his lighter cloak.
Fall had arrived.

// Two dumb questions: What's RPnow and why can Tumblr messenger not find you
[[ Good questions! :U
1. RPNow is a website that makes roleplaying through IMing super easy. I like to use it for muses that aren’t on specific blogs (be it on my end or my RP partners)
2. tumblr Messenger doesn’t work on side blogs and that’s what all my RP blogs are, including this one, so sadly if ya wanna contact me it’s gotta be through an Ask, @Mention, Submission…. blah blah blah .

Sloop couldn't help but sit and watch the toad from his spot around the bush. He had his trusty notebook in hand and was jotting down notes on a few ferns, but when the massive toad caught his eye he couldn't help but stop to stare.
It was the biggest damn frog he had ever seen in his life. Was that normal around these parts?

And it was a marvelous Fall indeed! The trees were filled with an array of bright, vibrant shades of red, yellow, and orange, almost making the forest seem ablaze in the most tranquil and peaceful manner. It was one of Sloop's favorite times of the year. A trip through the woods was like walking through a painting! And this certain forest was no exception to that "rule."
Leaves crunched beneath the Mudman's boots as he ventured deeper into the familiar woods, just waiting for any sign of birds or critters alike hurrying off and notify their guardian of his arrival. Despite the chill in the air, Sloop's usual style had barely changed. In fact, he almost looked more comfortable in the cold weather despite his usual attire and large sack lugged over his shoulder.
It was still heavy, though. ... Hopefully the troll would make himself known soon.

Taking the sit as an invitation in itself, Sloop quietly joined him on the ground and listened carefully, leaning closer from where he sat to take a closer look at where Eremite pointed as he explained. When he dug through his pocket, Sloop took the opportunity to further examine the cloth in his hand, giving it another quick rub before holding it up to the sun and pulling it slightly taught to get a better loom at the fibers. A small, thoughtful puff slipped out as he thought. Plant based dyes were things he used to make, but stopped for reasons he did not remember. He wondered if he still had those old recipes somewhere... They held their color for a very long time. Perhaps Eremite would like to know them.
Only did the grunt bring Sloop’s attention back to the other, then down to his hand. Without question Sloop lowered his to hold it beside Eremite’s to accept whatever he was offering.
