these are my thotz as someone who has been directly exposed to 2022 and 1966 batman within less than a month: there's a sweet spot between silly/gloomy ways to write bruce wayne, there's unpleasant extremes, and then there's the real extremes that are such weird little freaks that they make perfect sense

One day, Clark is bored at work so he messages Bruce saying as much, hoping they could talk for a bit to help pass the time.

What he did not expect was for Bruce to tweet 'ostriches arn't real'.

The office becomes alive with activity. Perry marches over and tells Clark to write an article about how one of the richest men in the world does not believe a bird exists.

The interview?

Clark Kent: "Would you care to elaborate on what you meant about not believing ostriches exist?"

Bruce Wayne: "No."

Others then ask Bruce what his thoughts on other birds are. Penguins? Real. Flamingos? Not real. Pigeons? Some are, some arn't. It depends.

On the upside Clark's afternoon became a whole lot less boring. On the downside there is now a Twitter account called 'BirdsBruceWThinksArntReal'.

jason todd reads classics & damian wayne reads warrior cats and they’re both constantly beefing with jason acting like he’s all high & mighty and damian explaining every single plot line in warrior cats to convince him that warrior cats can be sophisticated, like there’s “racism & heaven and hell & a complex religion & class structure” and jason always responds with “they’re talking cats”

Oh the tragedy of modern fans not knowing that “dickie bird” used to be a way to generally refer to any little bird, and that the name Richard Grayson was most likely specifically picked for Robin just so that they could call Dick “dickie bird” because he’s just a little robin. And Jason would know this because he reads, and that’s why he calls him that. Like, it’s not just adding the -y or -ie sound to the end of Dick’s nickname to make it sound cuter, “dickie bird” was and actual term.

Headcanon Ask;

Snow Owl!Mary

Just about anything to that comes to your mind. No pressure

oooh okay!

this is probs gonna centre around my au specifically, but u can do what u want w her!

shes v protective of her son, and distrustful of anyone not in her immediate circle (so anyone thats not herself, dick, bruce, alfred and possibly clark).

this is cos of her time with the court of owls.

she got dragged into it all bc of her relationship with john, and while she loved/s him v much she can't relax around people the same way bc of how their relationship ended up. this is also one of the reasons why she hates the idea of being in a relationship with someone again.

she also had a v traumatic birth & dick had a somewhat traumatic childhood. which contributes greatly to this. she gave birth to dick while in the court of owls, and so she had very little control or knowledge about anything. she had examinations, tests, injections etc and she's still unclear on what they were for since she was left in the dark. She didn't get to hold dick after the birth and is terrified of what might have happened to him between the time of his birth and the time he was returned to her.

she also had to surrender dick to testing/training regularly while in the court of owls. she tried to make dick feel as though this was a normal thing to do, so that he wasn't scared and didn't try to fight back or cause trouble. but this just made her feel worse as she had to bottle up her emotions.

she & dick have quite severe separation anxiety

this is also bc of the above. their time in the court of owls, and the lack of control really affected them.

mary initially didn't want dick to become robin, but allowed it for a few reasons:

firstly, bc dick was shutting down after the court of owls. after a lifetime cooped up in a cult he couldn't adjust. he fluctuated between violent outbursts (testing boundaries) and depressive episodes. she wanted to give him something he was good at & confident in.

secondly, bc she wanted him to be able to defend himself from the court should they ever resurface.

thirdly, bc she wanted him near her so she could be sure he was safe. the sentiment was reciprocated.

this situation is actually why dick is /encouraged/ to be a part of young justice in this au, as their dependence on each other is bordering debilitating.
