Esen (He/She) Master of Wind

The second oldest of the Masters of the era. Eventual grandparent to Morro.

A bit of a free spirit with little care for authority. Follows Wu and Garmadon out of respect for them as people, not because of their relation to the First Master. Somehow manages to be even more laid back than Reiko when not on the job, which often leads to her not being taken very seriously by strangers.

He has essentially mastered the art of improvisation. The other Masters used to try to include her in their plans before realizing he was usually better left to do her own thing.

Tends to prefer bladed weapons for combat, such as swords or spears, but he’s also perfectly content to use more unconventional choices, like the occasional frying pan or bucket. Her combat flexibility makes for a formidable ally, and even more formidable sparring partner.

It isn’t unusual for her to disappear for months at a time when there’s no action going on. The other Masters don’t really have any idea where he goes, and he has no intention of telling any of them any time soon.

When he isn’t off doing who knows what, he tends to be closer to the younger Masters than those around her own age.

Though he hides it well, her powers began weakening shortly before Kei was taken in.

Keto (He/Him) Master of Water

One of the younger Masters, close in age to Enkh. Eventual grandfather to Maya, great-grandfather to Kai and Nya.

Takes his job as an Elemental Master and protector of Ninjago very seriously. Any joking around during a mission often results in an angry glare from Keto. The older Masters try to convince him to relax more, but he really only allows himself to let loose if he's certain he won't have to worry about sudden danger.

Prefers to strictly adhere to a well-laid plan. Should the tide of battle change, he will often stop to properly formulate a new plan of action rather than act on the spur of the moment.

Keto excels at most things he tries with little effort. A bit of a jack-of-all-trades, he rarely sees the need to train at any one thing for very long. He finds that being able to fill a variety of roles in the team is more efficient than dedicating himself to any one discipline. As a result, he is competent in a number of fighting styles with a variety of different weapons, but he can struggle if he goes up against a true master.

Frequently butts heads with Reiko, the Master of Fire. Her laid-back attitude towards their roles as protectors infuriates him and he isn't afraid to make sure she knows. He will often attempt to start arguments with her on mere principal, even if he actually agrees with what she says.

He is considered to be a very handsome man, and he knows it. This combined with his ability to easily learn almost any skill has given him somewhat of a superiority complex.

On the rare occasions when he allows himself to relax, he becomes something of a flirt. Potential suitors swoon left and right, but he never seems to pursue any proper romantic relationships.

Alder (He/Him) Master of Earth

One of the older Elemental Masters of the era. Has already married, but has yet to have any children. Eventual grandfather to Lilly, great-grandfather to Cole.

A very gentle and compassionate man. Considered to be something of a shared uncle by the youngest Elemental Masters as he helped to babysit some of them when they were still children.

He is often the one making the plans when the Masters need to go into action, with help from Kronos and Saga. Adjusting these plans in the spur of the moment isn’t his favorite thing to do, but he can be surprisingly flexible if it means protecting the other Masters. This has left him with quite a few scars.

Taking full advantage of the strength afforded by his element, Alder prefers to fight bare-handed or with something heavy like a hammer or ax. He takes no joy in this fighting, but he does what he has to for the sake of Ninjago’s people.

If he hadn’t inherited his predecessor’s element, he would have liked to go into some sort of work to help children. Has considered becoming a teacher when his time as an Elemental Master finally comes to an end.

Of the older Masters, he would consider Roswitha to be his closest friend. Her strength makes her a formidable sparring partner, and he greatly admires her defensive capabilities.

Jacoba (She/Her) Master of Lightning

Closest in age to Reiko, only being older by a few months. Eventual grandmother to Libber, great-grandmother to Jay.

Goes by Jaye or Coba for short.

Much like her descendants, she’s a bit of a blabbermouth. She’ll ramble on about nearly any topic if given the chance. Even more so when she’s nervous and her talking speed seems to nearly double. Which tends to be pretty often since she’s a bundle of frayed nerves almost constantly.

Second only to Reiko when it comes to impulsive battle decisions. Her anxiety over the repercussions of her actions keeps her in check most of the time, but she isn’t allowed to be partnered with Reiko unless there’s a third Master to keep an eye on the two of them.

Highly skilled at hand-to-hand combat. When sparring with the other Masters, she’s nigh undefeatable, usually only losing to Alder or Roswitha. Unfortunately she flounders more often than not during real combat situations, the pressure of the consequences causing her to make mistakes. Favors knuckle-based weaponry, especially those that can conduct her lightning.

She is fascinated by the potential future applications of electricity for bettering the lives of the people of Ninjago. Has tinkered around a bit with inventing, but she isn’t especially good at it.

“Falls in love” seemingly every other week. Her relationships have yet to last longer than a few months. Recently fell for a woman who is equally fascinated in developing new technologies, but who knows if it will last.

Altanenkh (They/Them) Master of Ice

Older than Reiko, but still one of the younger Masters. Eventual parent of Zane’s predecessor.

Goes by Enkh for short.

They are generally quiet and fun-loving, but tend to come across as very stern and stoic as a result of struggling to express their emotions. Frequently catches the other Masters off guard with sarcastic comments.

While competent with spur of the moment decisions, prefers to have a well made plan to follow in tense situations. One of the Masters to often get paired with Reiko and try to rein in her impulsiveness.

Prefers to work out conflict through conversation rather than fighting. While trained in a variety of weapons, when forced to do battle, they typically rely on their powers instead. They favor a bo staff when absolutely necessary.

Perhaps as a side effect of their element, often has visions of the future. While these visions used to cause immense distress, they have long since grown used to them.

Lost both their parents and only younger sibling to an especially devastating blizzard at a very young age. It is thought Enkh was the only one to survive due to the cold resistance afforded by their element.

Having grown up near the Glacier Barrens together, they have a close, sibling-like relationship with Kronos. They would often seek comfort from the Time Master as a child after having prophetic nightmares.

Reiko (She/Her) Master of Fire

The youngest of the era's Elemental Masters. Eventual grandmother to Ray, great-grandmother to Kai and Nya. -She tends to be laid back, with a very devil-may-care sort of attitude. The other Masters often scold her for being too reckless and not taking things seriously enough.

Excels at making snap decisions in the heat of battle, but doesn't always remember to take her own safety into account (much to the dismay of her teammates). On the flip side, she is abysmal at any sort of strategizing ahead of time.

She is an extremely skilled markswoman, having been trained by her predecessor to use her fire in conjunction with her arrows from a very young age.

Frequently "butts heads" with Keto, the Master of Water. Which is to say that Keto gets upset and tries to start arguments while she brushes off the matter.

She is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful and desirable bachelorettes in all of Ninjago. Unfortunately for any would-be suitors, she is completely oblivious to their romantic advances.

She has been smitten with the blacksmith from her hometown for as long as she can remember, having grown up together. He is equally as oblivious to her attempts at flirtation.

It's probably too late to be posting this and have people see it, but I hit post limit yesterday, and it's still April 3rd somewhere So I did a redraw of the picture I drew for the 15th Dannyversary, which was itself a take on the title card
