The rustling around you hear at the beginning of the video is me pulling the thermometer out of my bag and placing it on the shelf. Obviously, it wouldn't ride there. In other words, the shelf didn't beat the thermometer. That's simple how hot the truck would get.

Some of the most loved videos I have are how-tos. A few weeks ago I followed the lead of James Leiker and used Shark Bite connectors to replace a couple of worn out spigots. Of course, the repair turned into a YouTube video!

Back during WWII, the US government produced a ton of propaganda films to promote supporting the war effort and patriotism in general. These would be shown before and after feature films since for the bulk of America, that was the only way to SEE any "video." They also produced films targeting black America specifically since our government once again woke up to the fact that black America was a huge asset (something they'd learned in the Revolutionary War, but forgot... re-learned in the Civil Wary, but forgot... re-re-relearned in the Great War, but forgot...)
I digress.
I find them fascinating. They're a glimpse into a part of American history in a way we don't normally get to see. Some focus on day to day life, civic accomplishments, the arts, or anything, really. Most include at least one segment about how Blacks are participating in the war effort.
If you know the history of the optics of how a black man was supposed to act around a white man in the 40s, you will understand why one quiet little clip in this was probably a big deal to the people watching it.

I was friends with a navigator on a B17 G in World War II. Amazing man... I give a brief tribute to him before sharing a film about the fans Memphis Belle.
My friend, Jim Tollerson flew as navigator on the Mollie Mule. I'm going to be reading through the records of the battles he was in, and I might make a video about it at some point.
