Very odd fungus happenings in the big tank. I also haven't seen any isopods in there for awhile... hopefully this is not a bad sign, although how could it not be? A lot of my tanks have been suddenly decaying more despite zero change in their environments. Really makes one start to panic.

Haven't done a great job documenting the changes and transformations that happened in these jars, but they've been great to watch. Very successful, yet sort of unappreciated jars in my house! About 2 years old now.

Update on this jar. Right after I took the first photos of it, when it was just planted, nearly the entire plant turned brown and I thought it was done. Typically when a jar starts a death rattle, I panic and try everything to save it but with this one, I didn't do anything. I didn't even change it's location.
And, weirdly, not doing anything was just want I was supposed to do because now it's kicking off! It's really fluffy in there and doing great. Moss is growing and I see signs of mushrooms forming, which is a great thing. It looks so nice and I hope it takes over the entire jar eventually.

Who doesn't love mini-oak leaf creeping fig?? I mean, it's just the best.

Growing family! Added Dairy Cows (P. laevis) and Oranges (P. scaber) to the big tank. Very active little animals and excited to be out of their plastic cups.
There is also a new and very special someone living in the tank... but it's a surprise. I cannot wait to share him with you guys!

So today something magical happened. My nursery finally had mini oak leaf creeping fig and baby tears. They NEVER have them and yet they have this huge fairy garden filled with it in the greenhouse that you're not even allowed to touch. It existed only to taunt people, I guess. Anyway, two new tanks coming. Can't wait for winter to be over and moss hunting to resume.
Update: Tragedy. The baby tears all died as soon as they were installed in the tank. The creeping fig is thriving, but man. I loved those baby tears.

Update on the Midwestern tank and all its mossy glory. Lots of plants died... they were swarmed by Iowan slugs and snails, but now everything has mellowed and this tank is doing well!
Obviously except the maidenhair fern which hates living and especially hates me.
