Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can break the bias in our communities. We can break the bias in our workplaces. We can break the bias in our schools, colleges and universities. Together, we can all break the bias - on International Women's Day (IWD) and beyond. #iwd2022 #breakthebias2022 #iwd22 https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca1htSQsKkc/?utm_medium=tumblr

THE JOURNEY! Its been four amazing years since the Sarauta dream became a reality. Its been an intense journey, but we’re happy to have started. We have learnt, we have lost and we have grown as a team. The only way is UP and we’re determined to make Sarauta work! Not to work just for the sake of building an afro-centric brand, but we’re doing this because we believe there’s a mission. As a team we see Sarauta as a movement every young African can identify with. We have the opportunity to give hope and paint a picture, linking the past to explain the present, and to create a future. A future we can all be proud of, and one everyone can participate in. We are out to build a community of like-minded young, driven and passion Africans who would find an identity in what we offer. We are keen on growing a culture of people true to themselves and open to the growth that comes with culture evolving! #sarauta #sarautanet #afroculture #afrocentric #arewa (at Nigeria) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZt8Co1s5z6/?utm_medium=tumblr

See Africa: Nakuru Flamingo Season Lake Nakuru National Park, in Central Kenya, is famous for its huge flocks of pink flamingos. The birds throng on Lake Nakuru itself, one of the Rift Valley soda lakes that covers almost a third of the park's area. The Kenya Lake System comprises three inter-linked relatively shallow lakes (Lake Bogoria, Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita). The territory is home to 13 globally threatened bird species and some of the highest bird diversities in the world. It is the single most important foraging site for the lesser flamingo anywhere, and a major nesting and breeding ground for great white pelicans. The area features sizeable mammal populations, including black rhino, Rothschild’s giraffe, greater kudu, lion, cheetah and wild dogs. The long-legged, long-necked, and well-dressed into pink feathery coats, lesser flamingos must be top models in the world of birds. The shores of Lake Nakuru is then one of the world's greatest fashion podiums. In the peak season, local population overruns a million individuals, and the highest record was 1.5 million birds. Flamingos love the waters of Lake Nakuru for the abundance of algae they feed on. Unfortunately, recent climate changes aren't favourable for flamingos, and their numbers have been gradually decreasing. Flamingos boom occurs in the rainy season, between November and May, when food in the lake is aplenty. However, in drier months, especially during droughts, pink flocks move north of Lake Nakuru to another famous flamingos' feeding ground in Kenya—Lake Bogoria where these birds are actually observed year-round. Beautiful Chaos: While the title begets thoughts of what good can come from chaos, the concept is not far fetched. One can argue that for beauty to be created, there must first be a form of chaos or destruction, and only after can true beauty be found. Chaos precedes order, order precedes chaos and beauty is somewhere in between – Amy Larson Jos, Plateau state – the home of peace and tourism as it is popularly known, is no stranger to beautiful works of art. In years past, Jos was known as one of the best places for tourism. It was the go-to place to witness a healthy display of a part of Nigeria’s cultural heritage. This is no longer reality. Plagued by years of crisis and terrorism, the beauty of Plateau state has faded to the background. Terrorism, Kidnapping and bad governance now stand at the forefront. Despite the oppression and blatant disregard for human rights by the government, the Plateau state youth have refused to stand down and take it lightly. Beautiful chaos is documentation and also a showcase of the collective voice of the Plateau state youth and people of Jos. Documentation of unity, camaraderie and peace. There’s A New King In Town! Meet Ogiame Atuwatse III, formerly known as Omoba Tshola Emiko, has been crowned as the 21st Olu of Warri Kingdom. The coronation held on Saturday in the ancient city of Warri in Delta State with many traditional rulers and political leaders in attendance. Born on April 2, 1984, to the then Prince Godwin Toritseju Emiko, who later became 20th Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II and Gladys Durorike Emiko in Warri, the new monarch is a descendant of Olu Akengbuwa. According to Bini and Itsekiri histories, Olu Ginuwa, a prince of Benin Kingdom founded the Warri kingdom about 1480. In the 15th century it was visited by Portuguese missionaries. At the beginning of the 17th century, a son of the reigning Olu was sent to Portugal and returned with a Portuguese wife. Their son Antonio Domingo was Olu of Warri in the 1640s. Olu Erejuwa, who reigned from about 1720 to 1800, expanded the kingdom politically and commercially, using the Portuguese to further its independence of Bini and to establish control over a wider area. Warri later served as a the base for Portuguese and Dutch slave traders. Warri became a more important port city during the late 19th century, when it became a centre for the palm oil trade until it became the provincial headquarters for the British early in the 20th century. Today marks a notable moment in history, that on the 21st day of the 21st year in the millennium, Ogiame Atuwatse III, formerly known as Omoba Tshola Emiko, was crowned as the 21st Olu of Warri Kingdom. #sarauta #sarautaarchive #sarautalifestyle #historyclass #today #oluofwarri #nigeria #culture (at Nigeria) https://www.instagram.com/p/CS2bQfrMzA3/?utm_medium=tumblr
