Hello, your work is absolutely amazing and I just stumbled upon your video on nikki conversions (a year late) as I am trying my own hand at cc and I have a few questions about how you texture;

How do you make those nice opacity transitions? Is that only in the render or will it show up in game too? Do you still need to select the sims glass shader in ts4s for those particular parts? And I assume it has an alpha channel (in photoshop) right?

As for the serious lack of space in the sims UV map, how do you get your textures to be so crisp and clear still? Mine tend to look washed out.

It’s a steep learning curve but I’m willing to get there :)

The opacity transition is just a texture thing. I assume by opacity transition, you mean the texture turning from transparent to non-transparent?

If you make an opacity transition in the texture in Photoshop and set the shader of those particular parts of the mesh to simglass, it shows up in game too. It always looks better in Blender because of the lighting, but it still looks pretty good in game! As for the textures sharpness, I try to delete any parts of the mesh that don't show in-game. For example, if the sleeves/dress is covering parts of the body, I just delete that part of the body. That gives a bit more space for textures. It doesn't always work, sometimes a texture just doesn't fit or it becomes a bit blurry, that's just the limitations of the sims game unfortunately...but generally you can get pretty far with this method.

I also sometimes put small textures here if I'm really running out of space for an accessory:

RIP, CmarNYC

I’m very sad to report that Sims 3 and 4 creator CmarNYC passed away in October 2023. For 15 years, Simmers benefited from Cmar’s long-honed computing skills as she created much-loved modders’ and players’ tools, including the Sims 3 and 4 MorphMakers and Skininators, the TS4 SimRipper, the Sims 3 XCAS core mod, and many CAS sliders. She was also a contributor to S4PE, which likely was used by creators you rely on. Without Cmar’s work, the Sims franchise would have had a much less rich array of mods and custom content. She will be greatly missed.

As well as Sims, Cmar loved cats, and donations are suggested to the ASPCA, the TinyKittens Society, or an animal-related charity near you.

There's a dress up game known as life makeover that has such gorgeous clothes and accessories! Similar to how you covert Shining Nikki sets, do you think you'd ever covert sets from that game?

I know about this game! I love the outfits, but I don't know how to rip them from the game. They use a newer engine, so it's much harder to get the meshes. Not only that, but I think the outfits are so intricate it might not work in the sims. At least it wouldn't look half as good, because LM is really created to make the clothes and the models look as beautiful as possible, whereas Sims graphics are not really meant for that.

so my ibs took me away from work for a while and while it was paid, my last paycheck didn't cover my rent so i have to pay late. the problem with paying late is that my paycheck is usually 1100 and the rent will be 1300 :") i haven't asked for help in long time but i will definitely need to this week so my child and i don't get evicted!
