Quick update--
A fic I started in 2017 is now only short an epilogue before I can call it done. It was at Chapter 16 when I started Intimacy Log in 2020. It's now at Ch. 45, and is 179,700 words long.
I don't abandon my fics. I might take forever, but I don't abandon them.
However, I can't control the brainworms.
Intimacy Log will be updated when they let me return to it.

Deck, this is so good! I really enjoy seeing pieces of Hordak and Imp's life pre-Entrapta, and I love that headcanon that Imp collects shiny things for his nest. Delightfully inhuman.
Fantastic work!
Snowball Fight
Summary: Imp's first winter.
~
Through eavesdropping on conversations Imp had learned the weather getting colder was called ‘winter’ and the white stuff that fell from the sky and coated the ground was called ‘snow’. It had all been complaints; it was cold and crops couldn’t grow. The snow was deep enough that it had to be trudged through in some places and in heavily trafficked areas it was reduced to a dirty gross slush. Ice was slippery, dangerous and a nuisance to get rid of. Seemingly there were no redeeming qualities to this change in the weather.
Despite that, the group of children had begged to be allowed to go out in it and had eagerly rushed to do so once given permission. It was not Imp’s job to spy much on the children, even the ones in the care of the Horde soldiers, but it was odd behavior and investigating such was his job. So he followed them out.
It was bright and white outside. There was nowhere to hide other than in the snow itself which would make it hard to see anything in addition to being cold and wet. Which would make the bite of the cold air even harsher and it already had him feeling like he’d rather go back inside. Too wrapped up in whatever they were excited about though, no one seemed to notice him climbing up the exterior wall so he stayed to watch for now.
The group quickly split into two. One gathered up snow into small balls to throw at each other. The other started rolling up a big ball of it. If either had a purpose, Imp couldn’t discern it. The children tended to behave odd in general but this was a whole new thing that made even less sense than normal because everyone else hated the snow.
Imp stayed and watched for a while. Eventually the group rolling the big snow ball started rolling another which upon finishing the stacked atop the first for some reason before starting a third. Odd behavior with seemingly no reason for it. He could stay for longer and try to figure it out but it didn’t seem likely to make any sense any time soon.
So he scuttled back down the face of the building. He gathered up some snow and bunched it into as big a ball as he could comfortably carry in one hand. It was so cold it hurt his bare hands as he pressed it together but it was pretty - if it weren’t doomed to melt he’d have stolen it to hide in his nest with his other shiny things – so he could see the draw of making it but why throw it?
Once it was done, he took it back inside. It was warmer in here so it would melt much faster so wasting no time, he climbed up to the vents and started for Hordak’s sanctuary. Hopefully he was in and alone. Hordak didn’t like it when Imp asked questions when others were around.
Luckily he was in and indeed alone. He was at his workbench working on something, his stance stiff and intent. Imp had express permission to interrupt with important stuff. This wasn’t important but the snowball was quickly melting and wouldn’t last until a more convenient time.
Unnoticed, Imp made his way around around the wall to behind Hordak. He then threw the snowball, purposefully not hitting him but going past his shoulder to splatter on an empty part of the table.
Hordak jerked around with a growl. “How dare…” he stopped as his gaze found Imp. He let out a sigh as he brushed himself off, much of the tension leaving his body. “Why would you throw that at me?”
“Snowball fight!” Imp played back at him because that’s what one of the kids had shouted before throwing the first snowball. It hadn’t been a fight though, no one was dying or even bleeding, none of their shouts had been of pain. And there was seemingly nothing to fight over. No disagreement, petty or otherwise, or territory either side wanted.
“I don’t have time to play games with you and you have better ways to spend your time. So unless you have something important to tell me, get back to work.” With a huff, Hordak back around to clean up what was left of the quickly melting snow ball.
Imp headed down the wall and climbed up to sit on the table as he did so. “Why would you throw that at me?” he repeated before Hordak could repeat his order to get back to work.
Hordak stared at him in silence for a few seconds before replying. “You’re asking why they were throwing snowballs at each other?”
Imp nodded. It didn’t make sense. What could it possibly accomplish?
“I presume because they find it to be fun. Which is a concept I have little familiarity with, making me not a good person to ask.” He was the only person Imp could ask though, they both knew that. “Personally I find it a waste of time but forbidding such behavior accomplishes nothing as far as I can determine and thus I haven’t. So I suppose if you wish, you are free to play in the snow too as long as you don’t let it get in the way of your main duties. Understood?”
“Understood.” Seems this was going to be another one of those things Imp was just not meant to understand. But having been given permission to play in the snow maybe he would. Not a lot of course but perhaps stacking some snowballs on top of each other might make it make more sense. It was certainly worth a try, right?

@cruelfeline Is this you?
I feel personally wronged by the fact my body language is so limited. No pointy ears to flatten. No tail to wag. No hackles to raise. No sharp teeth to bare.

I feel like I should pop in every once in a while to let you all know I'm not dead. And Intimacy Log is still not abandoned.
I'm currently trying to finish a fic I started in 2017. And another I started in 2018.
So the lesson is, it might take 6 years but I finish my fics.

Prisoner chapter 11
Summary:
The raid on the Fright Zone was a resounding success. They got Adora back. They got the sword back. Nobody managed to open any reality-destroying portals. And somehow, amid all the chaos, thrown lab equipment, and pieces of ceiling raining down on their heads, they got Hordak. Now Hordak is in the spare room. Hordak. What in the world are they supposed to do with him?
He’s a surprisingly cooperative prisoner – except for that thing about the armor. They couldn’t exactly let him keep it, could they? And that thing about Entrapta. It’s just best not to mention Entrapta.

This post is making me laugh. In part because I cannot unsee Horde Prime screaming that natural aging is a lie and biologic immortality is the norm.

A lichen is a very romantic gesture.
i arrive at the gay bar in full butch getup and i look like super hot like trust me and i start buying chocolate milk for the femmes at the bar…..between my striking good looks and my generosity concerning tasteful dairy products i have impressed them greatly and after an hour of chatting I make my move. i reach into my pocket and remove a large, gorgeous lichen affixed to a piece of bark from its protective herbarium packet that I have concealed in my pants pocket. “it’s a symbiotic relationship between a fungus and an algae,” i begin,

I feel like one of Entrapta's skills, aside from being good with technology, is the ability to speedrun un-gaslighting someone. Basically, she takes someone who is a victim of gaslighting, convinces them that their memories were true all along, and gives them the courage to overcome their doubts and take action within less than a few hours. Her behavior (partly?) rebuilds the information and confidence that the gaslighting destroyed.
On a small scale, she does this with Scorpia. Catra said that Entrapta was a traitor who got what she deserved, but Emily had footage of what really happened that day, and of Entrapta being a good friend. On a larger, more disturbing scale, she does this with Wrong Hordak by showing him the ruins of Krytis and comforting him ("there, there...") when he starts to panic and cry.
In the first example, she is not physically present, and in the second example, you're supposed to laugh at the gaslighting victim and find him annoying (which is kinda yikes) so it is understandable that people do not notice this trait of hers, or find it to be heartwarming. But I noticed, and I wanted to share.
(Without Entrapta's help, Adora overcomes Shadow Weaver gaslighting her. But it takes a lot of interaction with the outside world, and a tremendous amount of courage, and a long, long time, so I think my point still stands).
I politely and respectfully disagree--not because I don't think Entrapta is an incredibly supportive friend! She is. It's a highlight for me that she is so strongly supportive of folks in crisis. Especially since scientific characters--or autistic characters, let's be real--are often reduced to the formula of "logic =\= empathy". Personally, I think empathy is (or can be) very logical. Even if you can't intuit what a person is feeling, you can use past experience to logically determine their most probable emotional responses to a situation. Low empathy does not mean "cruel" or "incapable of compassion".
So, I do fully agree that Entrapta does a marvelous job of supporting the people she cares about when they are confronted with horrible realities. But I don't want to rob those characters--Scorpia, Wrongie, Hordak--of their agency in those realizations.
They come to those conclusions themselves--often with outside assistance--and Entrapta supports them through those realizations. The support of someone they love/care about absolutely eases the process, and I love that Entrapta--a character who is often regarded as not being very empathetic--is the one to offer that support. But I cannot rob them of the work they do themselves to overcome that abuse.
I hope that makes sense, and I hope you don't take it personally. (...though I also suspect I may have taken you too literally here. Maybe you don't mean it's an actual "magic" ability, just praising that she's a supportive friend. Apologies if I misunderstood.)

Am I wrong, or is this actually a pretty decent description of living in society while neurodivergent?
