My very first animation! âď¸âď¸âď¸
This took me nearly a week to put together, from drawing and coloring each frame to trimming and synchronizing the audio as best I could. The latter comes from a Youtube video of Bruno's voice actor John Leguizamo hosting "The Daily Show", mixed with a clip of "Songbird" by Kenny G.
How many people are still in the Encanto fandom? Show of hands! (Cause it's kinda hard to find people, that I don't already know, that are still in the fandom)
Luissaaaaa!! Luisa is a pretty calm person (thanks to her husband) though with 1 person she is someone else. She doesnât remember her father at all but every mention of him saddens her up easily. She has a bad relationship with Alma since Mirabelâs disappearance. Sheâs blaming Alma on it and is always in a fight with her. Luisa is a very kind and good mother, she cares more about her kids than anything she has. Giving birth to her children, julieta, pepa and Bruno was hard, mostly because mirabel wasnât there, but also because of exhaustion. In her wedding mirabel was there, since she got married way earlier than Isabela. Luisa constantly lives in pressure and guilt, she misses her baby sister very much, her relationship with Isabela is great tough, she canât handle both of her sisters gone yk?
She often wishes her kids to be closer and not mean to each other because she doesnât want one of them to be gone one day and the others feeling like she had left. Luis is very thankful to have a husband like Diego, in her teens Diego was her life saver, the only other one than mirabel who could keep her calm. He has the purest heart in Luisaâs mind, she wonders what she wouldâve done without him. And she ofc loves her pet birds too!! You can guess who they look like ;)
Julieta, the oldest triplet, has it the worst of them. She keeps getting pressured which revolves her into forcing herself getting past her own limits. Julieta has many chores daily who take a lot of hard work and time. She gets help sometimes by her father or Tia, she never complains but she tells them that she can do it herself often too cause she fears them being disappointed. Julieta gets bad sleep which makes her get eye bags but she doesnât want anyone to know, so she hides them with makeup, but because of her lack of sleep she falls asleep anywhere and anytime. Anywhere and anytime literally. The only one who knows about her struggles is her secret boyfriend agustin!! She knows sheâs too âyoungâ for love but she never can stop herself from loving him. He cares for her and does everything for her often which is so charming for her, he keeps her up on everything and daily brings her rare flowers he has picked up for her.
Julieta has a bad relationship with her siblings, well, more with pepa. Pepa and her are always fighting, she doesnât know what pepa has against her but it makes her upset. Sheâs left out often and bullied by pepa. Her life gets harder with those burdens on her. Bruno is still on okay terms with her but he leaves her out too (mostly because of pepa) and heâs akward to her which makes her feel like sheâs boring. Being the âbest grandkidâ isnât so great. Also her hair is inspired by isabelaâs!
Pepa is feisty teenager. She is a mood but itâs not her fault often. Pepa has a lot of free time which she actually doesnât like that much, she wishes her chores could be more but her gift isnât that special. She is only friends with 2 people because she is bad with other teens, they either mock her, betray her or straight up do something bad. Thatâs why she only needs her 2 besties, Bruno and FĂŠlix! She loves FĂŠlix more than just best friends but she fears that if she steps out of line that sheâs gonna destroy her friendship with him so she does everything to keep quiet. Pepa hates julieta with her guts, she hates how julieta gets all the paise, how she gets more chores, more people liking her. She hates everything about her. So she will make it visible.
Pepa is often like an forgotten child who never can find herself, she cares about her looks too much because of others or so that others could at least notice her. Though who she deeply loves are her primo Camilo and Bruno, they both make sure theyâre here for her and pepa loves to prank people with his primo or make people scared with his brother very much. She was the one who was the happiest when they found out Dolores was a girl, she always treats Dolores like an little sister and is happy to have her too. Sheâs also a major daddyâs girl like Dolores used to be.
Bruno who is done with his life is still holding on! He is pretty sassy but not the mean kind. Like his siblings he gets picked on too but his mama makes sure that they stop doing it to them and everyone fears Luisa so they pretty much stop. He only has little chores and he loves his free time, his gift is awful and he hates it often. He spends most of his free time napping or dealing with pepaâ a shit. He loves pepa, but being dragged here from there, the entire time and then needing to be there for her the entire time can be exhausting too. He feels very bad for julieta, he knows about her lack of sleep but he doesnât say anything. (Heâs scared pepa will do something.) Bruno is also the one who remembers the most from their Tia mirabel, he also loves his Tia, and her disappearance broke him a lot.
He feels very targeted by his grandmother but his mom always makes him feel better. Heâs very much a mamaâs boy like Camilo, he has often a mother-son lunch with Luisa and they just talk about anything. He still loves his dad very much!! Heâs great friends with Antonio too! He loves to hang out with Antonio a lot, just finding him cool and chilling mostly. Sometimes he also likes to babysit Dolores, she gives him a lot of peace or never trouble. (His greatest friends are his rats)
Diego my beloved is one of the sweetest man is the Encanto. He is an amazing husband an amazing father. His job is creating class, either if itâs shapes, decorations, plates etc. he wasnât much of an approval of Alma but that doesnât stop him from being included in the family. Heâs a chubby and short dude so often Luisa picks him up like a teddy bear and carries him around while snuggling him. He makes sure Luisa doesnât exhaust herself or eats and drinks, the same goes for his kids too. Diego got raised by a single dependented mother, his protectiveness came from her and he wouldnât hesitate to stand up for his family members.
Diego was good friends with mirabel too, her disappearance makes him feel a bit lonely sometimes but he handles it. (Not really)
For any of my (American) followers who needs it for whatever reason, here is the # + website for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
I am going to be real blunt here and I need you all to read what I am actually saying and not whatever you decide I mean.
You cannot be glorifying suicide the way you all are.
Seriously. You cannot be over here making fan art of someone's suicide. You cannot be pointing at fucking reddit posts and end-of-life planning (something that MANY suicidal people do in the calmness right before an attempt) as evidence of someone being "of sound mind." You cannot be publicly praising someone for committing suicide.
You are going to kill someone. You are telling suicidal people that they can kill themselves in a way that will not only make other people happy, but that will also make a positive difference in the world. That is the absolute #1 thing you DO NOT DO.
Just STOP. Please. I am at a point in my life where I am passively suicidal but that was not always the case. I know how I would've felt seeing those posts when I was a teenager, how validating it would've felt to be told that my suicide could change the world, how encouraged I would've been. Think about the people reading your posts. Think about the messages you're sending to people who are only alive right now because they feel like their suicide would be a waste.
Chag Pesach sameach to every Jewish person. No matter your observance practices, whether youâre at a Seder with family, working or anything else. Every Jewish person deserves to feel safe, no matter their politics or visibility. Because right now? Itâs beyond left/right. Itâs simply being Jewish. So celebrate (or not) with lightness, love and above all, safety. Take care, be proud, chag Pesach sameach!
happy passover! iâm seeing the stuff on my dash die down a bit so i figured iâd drop this list of passover-friendly meals, whether youre jewish and starving without your typical meals or youâre not but youâre sharing a meal with a jewish friend and want to make something youâre sure you can eat, or if you just want some new recipes.
lol PLEASE donât fall for the âtheyâre banning TikTok bc the Zionists are controlling the media and donât want people to know the truth about Palestine!!â shit
My guys itâs literally a national security/international relations tiff between the US and China. The ban is fundamentally flawedânot because theyâre oppressing âfree speechââ but because the US wants to set a precedent to seize or ban Chinese companies. Itâs sinophobia, absolutely, but acting like this is a free speech issue or an example of âZionistâ media control (just say Jews, your antisemitism is so obvious at this point) is laughable. US politicians going after TikTok has been ongoing for far longer than the current crisis in Palestine. The push to ban TikTok has its roots in the Trump administration, so thereâs been political momentum for over 4 years now.
Social media companies are not venues for protected free speech! Theyâre profit-seeking corporations and donât give a damn about free speech if it gets them money. Youâre already censoring your speech on TikTok for fuckâs sake. If I have to see this one more post about âZionists are controlling the media!â from someone that regularly types âunaliveâ instead of âkillâ and has to put a đemoji when they mean âcockâ Iâm gonna scream.
"School districts that donât respect transgender and nonbinary studentsâ pronouns or force them to use restrooms that donât align with their gender identity could be committing federal civil rights violations beginning this fall.
Today, the U.S. Department of Education announced the issuance of a final rule under Title IX to protect people in public schools from sex-based discrimination and harassment. The announcement marks a significant update in federal efforts to combat sex discrimination in federally funded educational institutions. During a call with reporters, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona emphasized the administrationâs dedication to ensuring that Title IX effectively serves all students by providing safe, welcoming, and rights-respecting educational environments."
If a scene feels flat and you can't figure it out, ask yourself:
⢠What can MC smell? Is there an ocean breeze, sweat, a cinnamon roll fresh out the oven?
⢠What can MC hear, besides the dialogue? Is a bird singing, river flowing, a car speeding, clock ticking?
⢠Can they taste something, even if they're not eating? Previously drunk alcohol or juice, aftertaste of a cigarette, smog, too instense perfume?
⢠Can they feel something on their skin? Rough clothes or delicate material, blowing wind, an allergy or a rash, grass that theyre laying on?
⢠What does the character see, besides other characters? Is the room dark or is sunlight coming in nicely? Are the colours vibrant or dull? Are there any plants?
⢠What's the weather? Is it snowing and the cold is making goosebumps appear on their arms? Is it hot and sweaty and clothes are clinging to their body?
⢠HOW DOES IT MAKE THEM FEEL? To any of the above.
Do they like the smell of cinnamon rolls or are they weirdos (I'm a weirdo, I don't fit in).
Does the clock ticking calm them down or annoy them?
Do they enjoy the aftertaste of a cig and like how dirty it makes them feel?
Are they sensitive to touch and how their clothing feels on their skin or are they indifferent?
Would they enjoy the scenery more if it was more sunny out, because they're afraid of the darkness?
Do they like it snowy or are they always cold and hate winter?
Come on, give them persoanlity, likes and dislikes, don't be scared to make them people and not only likeable characters.
I'm begging the pro-Palestine movement to inject even the slightest bit of nuance into their rhetoric. I'm basically pro-Zionist at this point, but even I believe you SHOULD be pro-Palestine to an extent.
Here are some things to consider.
Israel has a right to exist. They didn't steal the land. You can say Britain did, but it doesn't matter. It's their land now and they have a right to live there, just as Canadians have a right to live in Canada despite the history of the indigenous people. Apply this to basically any other nation.
The October 7th attack happened. It was bad. It was an act of terrorism. They killed innocent civilians on purpose. The civilians didn't deserve to die for living in Israel. You condemn the attacks.
Hamas is a valid military target. They are a terrorist organization who are constantly attacking Israel. They're not freedom fighters. They may use the plight of Palestinians as an excuse, but they cannot be taken in good faith. You condemn Hamas.
Israelis are not Nazis. There are far right people in Israel as there are anywhere. Right now Israel's right wing is exaggerated due the attacks they've experienced. People's rhetoric can get extreme when such a thing happens. It's certainly something you should be concerned about, but comparing them to Nazis is not useful at all.
Generally speaking, Israel has a good track record of taking a lot of care to avoid civilian deaths. They have a strong history of calling areas by phone to warn civilians. They will then drop a knock bomb onto the roof to scare people out before dropping the actual bomb. They do not have a policy of killing Palestinian civilians.
The reason why Israel has the reputation they do for killing civilians is threefold. 1) Palestine is densely populated which creates huge complications in war. 2) Individual IDF soldiers or groups sometimes commit attrocities, on purpose or by accident. 3) Hamas has one of the most devious PR strategies the world has ever seen.
Hamas uses human shields. And I'm tempted to say they use them more effectively than anyone has in the history of the world. They operate in or under civilian infrastructure... seemingly exclusively. They make damn sure that, if you want to bomb them, you are taking civilians with them.
Combine that with the fact there's basically no way to identify a member of Hamas from a civilian and Hamas can generate an insane civilian death toll. Why? Because they can sell it to us. The western liberal is horrified by civilian deaths. Especially if the skin color of the victims is darker than the people doing the killing. It's the perfect plot for a terrorist group to pretend they have noble intentions of freedom fighting and whatnot.
So is being pro-Palestine just utterly foolish? Absolutely not. Palestinians are in an utterly horrible position in this world and you'd be absolutely insane not to care about that. They absolutely should have their own nation with their own government. They should have the opportunity to live in peace. They should have the opportunity to live in freedom. It's almost self-evident.
Of course Israel is too expansionist. The settlements are a disgrace. The IDF's reputation is not totally unearned and neither is their government's reputation. There is the stench of far right rot in both their military and their government. Netanyahu is absolutely a religious zealot.
All I'm saying is you can't look at this as a totally one-sided thing. Most of the people posting pro-Palestine stuff are being misleading at best and spreading flat out lies more often than not. This is not a valid strategy to enact change. And, frankly, you deserve better for yourself.
You do not need to lie about Israel to be pro-Palestine.
