Husk does not usually control Alastor in front of other people because then he runs the risk of being stabbed in his sleep /hj

Honestly the two have a very tricky (and rapidly deteriorating) balance. Husk can only pull Alastor back so far until the man snaps and seriously injures either Husk, himself, or an innocent bystander. So Alastor is allowed a certain amount of "freedom". But on the other hand, if Alastor pushes too far and attempts to disobey Husk in major ways, Husk will say "fuck it" and pull Alastor all the way back, regardless of the consequences. So neither of them can move too far without running the risk of major retribution. But, generally, things have been tipped in Husk's favor, as he's been slowly but surely chipping away at Alastor's powers the whole time he's owned his soul.

Right now, Alastor is severely weaker than he was before he gambled with Husk. This doesn't mean he's not dangerous though, as half of Alastor's strength comes from his cunning. Husk controls what he works on, tho he doesn't specify when he needs to work. He also keeps tabs of who Alastor interacts with, and Alastor is not allowed to make deals under any circumstances.

Husk would only pull on Alastor's leash in public if he was posing a genuine threat to either Husk or one of Husk's friends/business partners. If there's no instant danger, he'll wait until the two of them are in private.

Husk ends up telling her, and he also makes a deal with her, with about the same terms as Canon Al's deal too.

When it comes to how Husk got this information, Carmilla actually told him. Husk is the "friendliest" overlord, in the sense that he doesn't really have many enemies in terms of other overlords, and he can get his fellow demons to tell him a lot. He doesn't spill secrets, and he still has that "no bullshit bartender" vibe that he has in canon. So when the overlord meeting ends in episode three, Carmilla invites both Zestial and Husk to her office, and they all discuss the death of the angel.

(I was thinking of finding a way to get Alastor in this meeting, but it occurred to me that forcing Alastor through trust exercises would be much funnier.)

ough juat realized that alastor is kinda like an icarus symol here flying too close to tye sun (his fast soar in hells hiarchy) and crashiing and burning cause of it (man doesnt even have much acess to his powers in this au that goes to husk)

and the fact that if he hadnt soared so high or at least hadnt been so loud abt it (w the whole getting powerful and toppling the previous overlords by way of murder and broadcasting it n all, broadcasts that probably boosted his power if anythingso the metaphor still works) he wouldnt have fallen so low (husk wouldve just dealt his soul away, to likely a lesser demon who he wouldve gotten free much easier from) like man

I noticed that in a lot of the doodles your made for the Bad Beat AU, Alastor seems to crack quite a few genuine smiles, which is interesting given the circumstances. Perhaps he's able to be a bit more laid back and less mysterious now. I find this absolutely adorable! And I love Angel and Al acting as two frantic dad's for Nifty 😭.

You are correct! Alastor is a bit more genuine in the Bad Beat AU. However, it's less do to him being more laid back (on the contrary, he's like 500% more on edge) and more to do with him being too ... tired? I guess might be the right word, to keep up his cold facade. He's under too much stress to be able to keep himself that put together, so genuine emotions tend to bleed through more. Both genuine joy and genuine anger. And genuine fear! Isn't that fun?

One thing I'm really curious about is how the Extermination would go. I know Husk restricted Alastor's powers, so I don't think they'd send Alastor to hold off Adam alone, but does Husk have that same kind of overwhelming strength? Would Husk take Alastor's place on the rooftop, would Alastor face Adam anyway, or would the battle go completely differently altogether? And what would be the aftermath of that?

Husk does take Alastor's place on the rooftop! He doesn't have the overwhelming strength of Canon Alastor, but he makes up for by being less arrogant and more cunning throughout the battle. He lasts for about the same amount of time as Al did in canon, and though he does leave for a short amount of time, Husk returns to the hotel to fight again before the battle ends.

As for the aftermath, Husk does get injured, but it's less severe than Canon Alastor's injury. He reacts quicker than Alastor did, and manages to throw his arm up to block the attack. Also, Alastor is also injured by an angel during the fight. It's kind of like the two of them split the one injury Canon Alastor got lol.

In your Bad Beat AU, will Husk be the one fighting Adam in during the battle against the Exorcists? And if so, how would it go for him?

Husk is fighting Adam! And this is a great time to elaborate on some of his abilities.

Husk has the same weapons as canon. The throwing cards, the dice bombs, the insanely sharp claws, all of that jazz.

He also has a pistol he carries with him at all times, just in case.

He's extremely agile, being able to leap large distances and scale walls with ease.

His tail is as sharp as a blade, and he can sharpen his feathers as well.

Bit of an odd one, but he has poisonous blood. It disorients anyone who consumes it and makes them incredibly lethargic, as if they were blackout drunk. You can guess who that might have been affective against. It can also work as an irritant, so sometimes in a fight Husk will purposefully bloody his knuckles so he can use it as a deterrent.

Speaking of, Husk is a huge brawler. He gets in close and he fights dirty, something that gives him an advantage over a some of his fellow overlords, who are mainly just magic users and are kind of wimps physically.

Husk's gambling effects his whole life. Like, if he has a shitty hand and loses a game, he's going to have bad luck until he plays again and wins, and vice-versa. He wants to fight on a winning streak, because it means he'll be incredibly lucky during the battle. He actually convinces the hotel residents to play a game the night before the extermination bc of this.

Though Husk is very powerful, he's not as powerful as Alastor is in canon. However, he's also not as cocky. Husk is getting beat by Adam, no doubt about it, but he'll last as long as Alastor did bc he makes smarter decisions during the fight. Once he's injured, he retreats like Al did, but he's also much quicker to rejoin the fray. He actually comes back while the fights still going, and takes care of some of the other angels.

Quick note about Alastor's role in this fight: He still makes the shield. He brings the idea up to Charlie, and Husk tries to shut it down, but Charlie insists that Alastor should be allowed some of his power back to protect the hotel. Alastor goes a bit crazy during the fight, since it's the first time he's had some real power in a while. Just like in canon, his overconfidence is his downfall, and he gets nicked in the side pretty badly. This time though, he's in the fray with the other hotel residents, and they immediately have his back. Emboldened by this, he doesn't retreat, and they fight together.

Well that depends ... We have no idea why Alastor is on a leash in the first place, and what reasons he had for making a bad deal. I will say, whatever situation Alastor is in from canon, I don't think Husk would find himself in the exact same spot. But just because Husk wouldn't find himself in the situation Canon Al is in, doesn't mean there isn't something shady going on in the background. It's just, maybe a bit different. A bit ... riskier ;)

oh my goodness wait i just realised that if alastor is the one who goes to the club instead of husk, does that mean once niffty gets wasted he just sticks her on alastor instead 😭 its a good thing its niffty because i doubt he’d would tolerate anyone else crawling around him like a jungle gym (though, i doubt canon husk would have either anyway)

Yeah Angel ends up dumping Nifty on Alastor. But it should be noted that Alastor is far more protective over Nifty in the club than Husk was. So instead of it reading like one chill dad and one nervous dad, like with Husk and Angel, it's two nervous dads and a runaway Nifty. When Angel finally catches Nifty and gives her to Alastor, he basically plants himself in a booth and scares everyone away for the rest of the night.

The only time Nifty gets away is when the commotion with Valentino happens and well, y'all know how that went.
