Okay so I don't normally post my random thoughts here but Sonadow enjoyers just hear me out.

It's normally Shadow losing his shit in most sonadow media I've seen while protecting Sonic.

And while I do think it's cool and feel like Shadow is definitely the type to commit horrendously stupid/violent acts in the name of love depending on the circumstance (just look at his entire arc in sa2), I don't think we give enough credit to how scary Sonic can be and how dangerous he'd be if he weren't such a nice guy.

I just think Sonic being the one to wreck somebody's shit would be neat tbh

Thank you!!!! But yeah thats happened to me at least twice. I always go woah i love how people are mixing up their jdv designs only to look into his eyes to see that he looks fucking exhausted and traumatized in that Unique way that only a guy whos experienced horrors of the cucurucho variety can do. at which point i go 'oh! Cellbit!'

(sidenote i have now begun considering what would happen if you put cellbit and jonny in a room together. I think their personalities would cancel eachother out. I'm trying my best to be in-character for all of them. I don't really know how close I am, it's really hard for me to judge that because like. I'm the one writing them. Of course I'm going to think they're in-character. But I think, at the very least, that it fits the vibe of an OG episode.

Oh, also, this is my 'personal' rewrite, not the one I've talked about before that I was developing with my friend. I think both are neat, this one just follows the OG show a lot more closely with a few... 'minor'... changes. I really wanted to keep those kinda "too serious for a kid's show about mermaids" character-driven drama vibes of the original... The goofs are still around, but they're not showcased here.

As for content... It's what kid me wanted out of s2 (and, further on, s3... I have a bit of that written as well, but I wrote most of it while high and I hate golf with a passion, so it's not The Best......) so it's pretty much just suuuuper self-indulgent XD

I hope you like reading a bunch of existing scenes with new angles applied for funsies, because that is the majority of it LMAO

Also, Charlotte deserved better both in-universe and in writing, and she will (hopefully?) get it in this fic, so help me god-

And IK Rikki seems kinda aggro in the last scene. She... Is. Yeah. She is. Tbf, she is in the OG too. She's my favorite merm, but I also wanted to keep her in-character which means she is a bit hostile until the volleyball bit.

If it helps, she's also a little less mean during the power showcase scene bc she gets to rib on Lewis for not having any powers except for the dream vision stuff (hey did I mention I latched onto double trouble as a kid like a baby bird wrongfully imprinting onto a human?) because their sibling-like rivalry is a dynamic I live for

A thing i noticed about the public's reaction to nope and jordan peele's movies in general is that many criticisms concern the symbolism and mostly how allegedly hard to follow or complucated it is. Oftentimes people will condemn his movies because they just don't get it or they interpret what is there in a very different way than it was intended to benor they even claim the movie is shallow because they perceive it to be surface level when the real issue is their disregard of the much deeper themes and messages hidden in plain sight throughout his movies. What i'm trying to say is that i personally think these sorts of criticisms feel pretty unfair when they very much concern the critic's own lack of media literacy and inability to see more in a movie than it's surface narrative layer. This is an issue that really gets put into perspective especially when we constantly more "mainstream" blockbusters like mcu or the star wars franchise get praised to hell and back for having even an ounce of obvious surface level symbolism in the first place

they would kill each other is because cantarella scene my beloved (and also. well.). but nah the layers to them are really what make it work for me. sometimes you have ships and one character is pulling all the weight but with utenanthy you have both of them un/intentionally sabotaging their relationship for much of the series because they're not on the same page despite ultimately both wanting the same thing in terms of escaping the cycle. they're both fully realised characters but (and this is similar to satorika for me) it's exactly because they're the characters that they are that they end up talking right past each other. and yet, because utena kept trying and anthy kept up her own small acts of rebellion, they are able to come to an understanding and the promise of a future together (and that's why I couldn't bring myself to tick off 'they make me sad').

sometimes i get really weird about masonry. like. carved from the earth to build dwellings, build monoliths, build cathedrals. the brick or block may be one of the first materials ever used and in places where they don’t have earthquakes these structures have stood for thousands of years.

Chaleon's second form is now complete! Say hello to Kamen Rider Chaleon Ronin! Armed with the Sunsetter, this is Chaleon's fast, stealthy samurai form. In this form, he's much faster than in his base form, but his melee attacks are much less powerful.

At 10 Diamond Power, Chaleon can use the Solar Strike, a powerful overhead jumping strike capable of defeating weaker enemies in a single blow.

At 25 Diamond Power, he's able to envelop the surrounding area in a dense fog with his Lunar Haze ability. In this fog, enemies' reaction & movement time is drastically reduced. Lunar Haze's effect consumes one Diamond per second and lasts until Chaleon's Diamond Power hits zero.

And lastly, at 50 Diamond Power, Chaleon Ronin's finisher attack, Dragostrike, becomes usable. Once activated, Chaleon stabs the Sunsetter into the ground, causing a giant, serpent-like dragon made of energy to materialize. Chaleon then leaps high into the air and Rider Kicks the enemy, the energy dragon surrounding him and giving the kick an enormous power boost. However, if the attack misses, or the enemy protects themselves, Chaleon will be forcibly reverted to his base form.

As for Chaleon Ronin out-of-universe (for lack of a better term), this form is based on Red Stealth, the samurai form assumed by Kid Chameleon's unnamed protagonist. Something odd about Red Stealth is that his two in-game sprites (the detailed one that appears on the title screen and the one that actually shows up in-game) and his two illustrated designs (one from the US maunal, the other from the Japanese manual) are all ever-so-slightly different from one another. Like... okay, here. Below is the title screen sprite. Note the two colors, red and orange.

Got that? Alright. Now, here's the sprite for the same character, mind you, in-game:

I'm sorry?? Where did all the silver come from? And where'd the orange go? And he has human hands now??

Design inconsistencies aside, no matter how egregious they are, the form's name, Ronin, comes from the Kid Chameleon wiki's article on Red Stealth, as does most of the other info about him. For example, the page says Red Stealth's weapon "glints in the sunlight as he runs", so I called his sword the Sunsetter, since ninja are commonly associated with night, which only comes when the sun's light sets.

In-game, Red Stealth only has two Diamond Powers, and I wanted all of Chaleon's forms to have three, so I turned the little downward thrust-bounce-thing you can do in-game (at any time, regardless of diamond count) into an actual attack. I'd imagine Chaleon Ronin could do something similar at any time without actually activating the attack, but it wouldn't be as powerful.

I also slightly adjusted the number of Diamonds required for each tier of attack, from 5, 20, and 50 to 10, 25, and 50, mainly just because it felt more "right". Other than that, I don't think there's anything else I really wanted to mention, beyond the fact that his eyes are still sunglasses, just differently shaped ones.

Comments, questions, suggestions, etc. are always welcome & appreciated. Chaleon's next form'll be ready probably tomorrow. Maybe tonight (I'm on a bit of a creative streak rn) but tbh I doubt it.

there's complicated dynamics at play with that one, because like sometimes people are older than you, then they die while they're crime-ing it up, and then you outgrow them. i don't think people wrote the bible with readily available photographs in mind, it has kinda been a bit of an oversight. i don't usually like people all this much older than me, so a couple times it's a problem - normies'll crush on the middle-aged nerd killer dude and don't worry about things like this. generally, i'm not hybristo. but a criminal may be attractive by chance for me, i don't find it elevates someone i am otherwise unattracted to. i'm attracted to hybristos ngl, i just like people who like me for my evil ways and not in spite of them. i'm super into vlad the impaler though, that dude could hit. probably actually my oldest human crush. my first ever crush is debatable whether they count as a serial killer, because it's the grim reaper (hence specifying human re vlad, i think death itself is a tad old). actually, i just realised, i have fallen victim to anti logic in this ask because i'm talking about people who are dead and killed people actually for real, and acting like the only thing that complicates a potential ethical crush is whether or not i'm a bit older. i think it's probably already in an ethical grey zone, me, i think we're past it. dude, my favourite story about vlad is once he was eating, and a child wouldn't stop crying... likely due to the fact that he had just impaled its parents. eventually, he got fed up of the noise and he impaled the kid. i mean, if that isn't a 'tism mood idk what is tbh. technically vlad isn't a criminal, as war crimes were not invented. complete aside but i recommend this david mitchell video about people viewing crimes hundreds of years ago vs crimes now, the description there makes it sound dull, but it's a very funny thing.
