Late Valentine’s Day—No Longer Accepting

“...Me?” she asked in disbelief, a breathless chuckle resonating off of her ruby-red lips. How could he possibly feel this way for her..? She wasn’t very important. She was an outsider to this world. She was a halfbreed, not all the way shadow yet not all the way light. There were so many things wrong with her... 

And yet... Here they were. With him saying he loved her. She wanted to ask how... how in his right mind would he ever want someone like her..?? It seemed too good to be true... Still, she wished it was. Oh, how she wished his words were true. That he loved her despite all of her flaws...

“Dark...” They were both outcasts. Kira could never find a place where she felt she belonged, and Dark... No one even cared to get to know him. Not before Kira came around. She didn’t see a monster—a mere shadow—when she met him. Instead, she saw a friend... And now, something more. 

She closed her eyes, her pale hand ghosting over his as her other one delicately rested on his arm. She leaned her head on his chest, just breathing in his scent... Her heart was thundering against her chest. What was this, this feeling she couldn’t even begin to comprehend... Was this love, perhaps? Did she love him? No...she knew that answer to that question... Of course she did.

Kira opened her eyes once more and tilted her head up to look at him. Her hand hovered up his arm and shoulder until she cupped the side of his face in her pale palm. Her lips ghosted over his, hesitating just slightly. Fear that this beautiful feeling she discovered will slip through her fingers if she’s not careful... 

“I... I love you too...” she whispered, her voice as gentle as the breeze before tender lips met with the shade’s own.
