After about another half an hour, the credits started to role and you quickly shot a text to your director, telling him he did a great job before your boyfriend stole your attention.

“You were Ghostface?” He asked hysterically, a ghost of a smile on him. “That’s so cool, I don’t know how I’m not going to end up telling any of the guys”

You giggled, knowing he wouldn’t really spill the plot to any of his friends. “You liked it?”

truth is, a lot of kpop stans don’t care about the boycott or palestine if they cannot use the idol they dislike as the villain. because instead of raising awareness they’re trying to search for evidence about other idols ex: blinks suddenly posting old pictures of bts drinking starbucks to involve them on the narrative knowing pretty wel those are old pictures instead of holding bp accountable and spread the word about the boycott. armys are legit boycotting disney+ for bts documentary so i am sure their fandom can do more to raise awareness instead of trying to switch the blame.

joining the boycott doesn’t meant you don’t owe things from the companies being boycotted. i brought puma shoes in august and sadly cannot afford to get rid of them since i brought them for the gym but the boycott is for you to make a conscious decision to not continue supporting them until they stop funding genocides (or better yet, forever).

and most importantly, stick to BDSs boycott list. it’s shorted and a lot more manageable because they’re actively targeting manageable companies. take a look at how much money starbucks has lost to the point they need to seek out celebrity/idols sponsorship. there’s also a lot of alternatives to starbucks like local coffee shops (which south korea is full of).

REASONS FOR DISBANDMENT / KICKING OF MEMBERS!

hey, angel! this is a unique ask cuz i dont think ive ever seen anyone asking for such a post before haha but ur english is fine btw! hope u like it, thank u sm for requesting 🤍

DISBANDMENT:

unsuccessful

→ unfortunately, a common reason for disbandment. with the kpop industry being so highly saturated, it's insanely hard for groups, especially groups from smaller companies or companies that aren't the big 3 or HYBE, to ever reach fame, let alone be recognized. thus, the company might think it's not worth to keep the group.

poor management

→ creating a kpop group requires millions of dollars; producing their songs, making music videos, styling them nicely, training their skills... if a company fails to have enough budget or resources to support or promote their group, then they'll ultimately crumble.

contracts ending

→ when kpop idols join an entertainment company, they have to sign a contract to agree to be taken under the wing of the company and train with them. contracts are time-limited, which means once the contract reaches its expiration date, the group disbands if all members don't wish to renew their contract.

scandals

→ kpop idols' second biggest fear. (first is being caught lipsyncing 🤭 joking) no matter how serious it is, from accidentally making a rude gesture to bullying former classmates pre-debut, it tarnishes one's reputation and career and harms their group and company. sometimes, the damage is irreversible and so terrible that the company has no other choice but to break up the group as a response.

bad blood between members

→ being in a kpop group with people you don't know is similar to working on a group project without ur friends. ultimately, you're all working towards the same goal, but it doesn't mean all of you will go about the same way to achieve it. tensions arise if members can't coordinate with one another behind the scenes and arguments and fights occur too. in worst cases, isolating members or bullying. due to their inability to deal with each other, it's best if they were separated.

KICKING A MEMBER OUT:

heads up, there's a difference between a member leaving on their own accord and the company kicking them out, but i'll assume anon is talking about both in this case.

scandals

→ dating, bullying, assault allegations, harrassment, bad behaviour, etc.

company's decision

→ or what i call the 'coward's' decision, it is rare, but sadly did happen to certain idols before. the company never revealed the reason for kicking the member out and in some cases, neither does the member.

mistreatment

→ treating their idols like slaves by overworking them to the bone and underpaying them are just the tip of the iceberg of mistreatment in kpop. idols then usually file lawsuits against the companies to sue them for it when they leave the group.

health-related issues

→ depression, anxiety, severe injuries like back or leg sprains, etc.

personal reasons

→ pursuing another career, got tired of the idol life, settling down by getting married or starting a family, etc.
