@ingravinoveritas idk why I’m getting a weird vibe from it… maybe it’s the mention of the children or the fact the she tagged AL. But I don’t get her humor most of the times, so…

@nightingalecottage @qazskc It is a weird vibe, and I'm glad other people are noticing this about Georgia's posts, too. How deliberate they are. Because Michael's been tweeting up a storm the past few days and him/David are getting a lot of attention with the whole "Thin Dark Duke" thing, and now all of a sudden Georgia and AL are promoting Staged again. These things never really feel like a coincidence, especially since this also just happened on Twitter, too:

...But what I think is really telling is that use of the word "shipping" in Georgia's story. I noticed that she referred to a whole album of Michael pictures, but not AL, nor a "Michael & Anna" album. As we've said before, Georgia is very deliberate in what she posts on social media, so I think that and "shipping" was purposeful...which makes her tagging AL in the corner of the story with #staged seem even more like an afterthought/awkwardly tacked on.

(Possibly also because Georgia pinned one of her previous stories to her profile--a picture of Michael, David, and Ty hashtagged #mumanddad--and titled it #fam, and while AL is part of posts promoting a professional project they were in, she is noticeably not part of something far more personal. It's all very weird and interesting, for sure...)

I’ve just been made aware of the most recent shenanigans involving Rosie Darby (this post sums things up pretty well, for those who don’t know what happened). The basic gist is that someone tagged her on a tweet for a Stede Bonnet version of the “gay loser” meme that’s been going around on Twitter, clearly intending it as a joke...but instead of taking it as such, Rosie took the (very obviously Photoshopped) picture seriously, and reacted thusly:

First of all, I am not sure that pun was intended, because going by her previous clashes with the OFMD fandom, I am beginning to think this woman neither possesses any discernible sense of humor nor actually knows what a pun is. Second--and more importantly--it’s very apparent that Rosie seems to see “gay” as an insult, which is distressing at best and very, very gross at worst, especially given Rhys’ role as Stede and the fact that a large majority of his fans are now members of the LGBTQ+ community.

That Rosie’s initial impulse is to defend Rhys’s sexuality and reaffirm her stance as his wife by attacking a 15-year-old queer OFMD fan is appalling but also incredibly telling, and it makes me feel the need to very specifically mention Georgia Tennant.

As my followers know, I am absolutely more than willing to call Georgia out on her occasional bullshit…but in this instance she is completely and totally the anti-Rosie. She has literally referred to Michael as David’s “other wife”:

...And basically has no problem whatsoever being like “YEP, WE’RE POLY. DAVID AND MICHAEL ARE FUCKING. THAT’S TOTALLY COOL” (albeit in a much more subtle, British kind of way).

There is a stark contrast between Rosie’s not-so-mildly homophobic response to that recent tweet and Georgia’s continuous fanning of the flames of speculation about the relationship between Michael and David. She clearly does not have an issue with people thinking there is something between them, or with people thinking David is anything other than 100% straight.

She has also never felt the need to project her own insecurities by defending David’s masculinity or deliberately distancing him from his characters, particularly characters in which fans have found comfort and a sense of identity.  Georgia has proven to be an (imperfect, but reliable) ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and is able to step outside of herself and see the larger picture.

So even if Georgia’s reasons are sometimes questionable, she understands what Good Omens and David means to the fans, and I will take that over Rosie’s absolute lunacy and homophobic weirdness any day of the week and twice on Sundays...

Also wanted to jump on the ‘David is so adorable train.’ I struggle to get my head around how cute and so very pretty this actual 51 year old man is! He’s so lovely and no wonder Michael is mad about him. He also melted my heart like the other anon in those new year videos 😍. Also just wanted to say to pay no mind on what that vile person said to you. I think you’re a beautiful lady and your photo was gorgeous. That person has serious issues to send a message like that.

I agree with you both, David is thoroughly lovely, and it’s very, very easy to see why Michael is head over heels for him. I can also see David as someone who loves to cuddle and be cuddled, and I feel like Michael would be more than happy to give him anything he wants. It’s like I said in my response to this Ask from yesterday: David gets that same soft look around Michael, who no doubt knows when David wants/needs physical contact.

Imagine him having that need during the filming of GO 2 in Scotland, aimlessly walking up and down the length of his trailer until Michael finally finishes shooting and comes to him. David practically leaps into Michael’s arms the moment the door opens, and Michael chuckles, guiding the two of them to the couch. He’s in a worn t-shirt--David’s favorite--and a pair of joggers, perfect for the occasion. Michael is the first to lie down, making himself comfortable, and David immediately follows, closing his eyes and curling up against Michael’s chest. Michael already has his arms around him when he feels David tilt his head up for a kiss, soft and unhurried. One more point of contact, and to know for certain Michael is there and won’t ever let him go.

Oh, yes...I could definitely see that happening. Not to mention goodness knows how many other occasions there have been for David and Michael to cuddle since then. (Michael going to see David’s play/the filming of Staged 3, perhaps?)

Speaking of the play, I so love that you got to see Good, Anon #2! I am delighted that so many of my followers/readers have gotten to see David in that, and have shared how sexy and gorgeous David is in person. I just wish I could’ve seen the play, too, but...hopefully someday I’ll have a chance to see him in something.

Also Anon #1, thank you very much for your kind words, re: the nasty Anon I received the other day. I reblogged a post this evening that was a screenshot of a response I got from Neil Gaiman on Twitter, because I suddenly remembered that Neil (apparently?) thinks I’m hot. I certainly don’t require that as any sort of validation, but it definitely was a nice morale booster, and another item to add to the list of reasons not to pay attention to that Anon. (The very nice messages I’ve gotten from you and many other people, both as Anons and in DMs, are also on that list!)

I’m just glad we’ve been getting so much delicious David content lately. Hopefully Georgia’s been texting those pictures to Michael, too, so he can enjoy them as much as the rest of us. Fingers also crossed for even more David content when the GO 2 press tour rolls around...

Did you happen to see ALs short lived IG story yesterday? She’d posted a screenshot of a message between her and MS. Nothing major just him saying he was finished filming and he was heading home and it was pizza night, followed by loads of kissy faces. She commented over the post something like, “when it’s your favourite night of the week” or words to that effect. Puzzled as to why it was quickly deleted and how nobody else seems to have seen it/mentioned it. Seems like she was trying to copy GT and DT, with their recent wordle texts, but no one seemed to mention it, even over on the bird app. Maybe didn’t get the attention she thought it would. I know DTs been trending a lot lately, and sometimes GT can cause him to blow up on the bird app depending on what she posts photo wise etc. Maybe ALs trying to get some of the same attention and it fell flat?

Hi, Anon! I know you sent this like two weeks ago, so apologies for me taking a while to answer it--I wanted to answer the Anon about Georgia’s #MarriedSexting screenshots first, so that this one would have some context.

Backdating from when you sent me this message, the day AL posted the story you mentioned would be January 27th, just four days after Georgia posted the “what’s for breakfast?” text. (Unfortunately, I did not get to see the Insta story myself, so if you or anyone else has a screenshot, please do feel free to DM me, or send it in with an ask.) 

That being said, my first thought on reading your message was that it seems like AL was copying Georgia yet again, which is nothing new under the sun. I think there are also a few possibilities for what could’ve happened and why the Insta story was deleted so quickly. One is that Insta lets you choose who you want to share stories with, so perhaps AL meant for it to be shared with Close Friends and shared it publicly by mistake. Or maybe it was a case of Michael probably being a lot less agreeable than David about having his texts out there, and consequently either he or PR asked her to take it down. Another thought I had was that AL has hardly posted anything since Christmas, so it could be that she decided (or PR told her) to wait to post until Michael’s birthday the following week.

The thing is, some of what she did post on Michael’s birthday didn’t really get much attention, either, and was just downright...underwhelming, in my opinion:

Once again...I am confused. The first picture is the same as every picture of AL and Michael, in that both she and he have the same tight-lipped smile, with his noticeably not reaching his eyes. And there could not be anything more generic about the “Happy Birthday, my darling!” caption, which just feels so...planned. Like a post you’d make and a caption you’d write days in advance and queue, rather than something spontaneous and heartfelt. The generic feeling of the caption also stands in stark contrast to the specificity of Georgia calling Michael David’s “other wife” in her birthday post.

And the second picture...Lord help me, because all I can say is that the first thing that came to mind when I saw the word “petal” was a really hot MS/DT fic where David is topping and calls Michael that as he is bringing him over the edge. I seriously doubt that is what AL was referencing, of course, but I’m fairly sure she was also not referencing an Aziraphale/Crowley fic of mine that is also called “Petal.” I mean...what are the odds, really. Haha.

It’s also interesting that, from what I’ve read and had said to me since this was posted, while “petal” can be considered a term of endearment in Britain, it runs the risk of coming across as condescending, depending on how it’s said and who’s saying it, especially if that person is a non-native speaker. And that was indeed how I perceived it in this post. But what really didn’t help was that AL chose such a bizarre picture to go along with it. It’s (again) a picture of Michael taken from far away--which seems to be her specialty--but it’s not at all giving the “romantic glance from across the blossoms” vibes that I’m guessing were intended. Because when you look at his expression up close, Michael actually looks, well...visibly annoyed.

I just...why? Why would you choose these two pictures? Of all the pictures she has of/with him, she chooses one from months ago (presumably the night of the NTAs, which is just...we know what happened there, and that she is still not pulling focus away from Michael and David)...and then one where Michael looks like someone just slayed the Welsh dragon right in front of him. If as you mentioned, Anon, the aim was to get attention, it really does seem like it fell flat. Georgia’s “other wife” post was the highlight of Michael’s birthday and even got the attention of the media. AL’s post/Insta story...didn’t.

Even more interesting is that Georgia’s post made it painfully obvious that whatever is between Michael, David, and her is between the three of them, and AL is not a part of that. This goes back to what I said above, about the generic nature of AL’s caption calling Michael “darling,” versus the intimate nature of Georgia’s, where “other wife” is a specific and personal nickname. Neither of these posts said very much, number of words-wise...but at the same time, both posts said a lot. I’m just not sure that it was exactly what some people were intending.

Ah, well. So much weirdness abounds these days, and it’s only getting weirder. It will certainly be interesting to see what (if anything) Georgia and Michael post on David’s birthday in April, and what else happens from here on out...
