Daniel not wanting to eat the living fish…. yeah I can empathize
Raglan James - Is that a real name???? (LOL)
Love the banter
Daniel doubting how many Rashid’s there are… indeed
I like that they’re echoing Louis being away in last season this one as well
The underlying threat of Armand being able to kill them all if he so chose
That audio visualization will become important still I bet
How do you hide from the cloud indeed
Louis being asleep during the day?! Why this time? He was awake during the day before?
“Lestat’s prophetic vision”
Yes, be snarky Daniel :)
Flashback!!!!
Ugh incineration by fire gift
Oh Armand watching Lestat as harlequin - he has it baaaaad
Armand hinting that Lestat has powers he has not touched, and them talking to each other in their minds….
Viens a moi! Come to me!!! There it is! Armand said it to Lestat, yes baby!
And Armand admitting to stalking and then kidnapping.
And I love that they’re doing it all in French - I cannot quite judge but hope it’s well done
mhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh YES I CANNOT LIE I APPRECIATE IT AND I LOVE IT
the time freezing was so well done
Gosh Nicki. Gosh that feeding
to summarize: Liar, liar, pants on fire (LOL), but I love it. Ah yes, great fanfic, I like
Great now I will imagine Lestat and Armand beeeeeeeep in that box for ETERNITY lol
And Daniel… not buying it lol
“He abandoned xyz”… ohhhh there we have it. There we have it (not). The crux of the whole matter.
Louis knows what’s up. Deep down he knows. But them matching the stories is almost cute.
Claudia humbling herself like this to be part of it all breaks my heart
The sneezing made me cry with laughter
Ahhhh the wet room. And the rats. And the tombs. The tombs. Ohhhhh they’re so gonna lock Louis up there later. Oh boy.
“That’s a bit german” re the incinerator !!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Holy shit?!)
God Lestat interrupting that moment. And Armand sensing “Bruce”. Daaaamn.
Daniel getting distracted but the Talamasca. Who have access to his computer. (!!!)
“Where is Claudia at this point” 😔 (and no answer)
Santiago’s maker being down in the tombs is IMMENSELY interesting. WHO THE FUCK IS HE
Also him telling Claudia that her lies are almost convincing….
The “come to me” scene. Even better in total. Oh Louis. Armand calling him out on it.
And the philosophical discussion there. The admission despite the warning. Something Louis ALMOST remembers…
“that’s debatable” - “she did”. Oh MAN LOUIS
“I told you I loved you” - “And you said nothing.” Holy hell.
THAT KISS. the music.
It’s RAW.
God they’re on another level
AND THE PHOTO: Lestat being there… and then vanishing!!!!
Louis knows. He knows. Also that little story Claudia makes up there… oof.
The Bacon triptych - that is so weird. WHO wants to buy it. I BET that’s important.
And Daniel using the time to go through the material and find the proof of the theater burning.
The coven pressuring Armand. I LOVED that. The trepidation. Ugh.
And them throwing Louis out when she is initiated. Does he know of the five laws??????
And Claudia’s expression at the laws. Oh maaaannnnnn.
And I KNEW it!! Armand is playing with the fire there “threatening” Louis. I mean, he ultimately doesn’t, but he ALMOST does. The discussion in the sewers. The foreshadowing once more. Louis calling on what Armand promised, and Armand throwing the lies into his face. DAMN.
And Armand stating that Claudia won’t be there for long.
God I knew the coven would go and humiliate Claudia with that role. I knew it. Damn. Her face.
“The Savage Garden”. The roaring of the fire behind Louis. More foreshadowing.
“Did he break you? Or did you break him?” 😭😭
A century ago. Yesterday. So much pain.
That kiss. And Louis inviting Armand in on the premise that he won’t kill him!!!!!!!!!! Holy shit.
NO PAIN.
AAAAALLLLLLL THE PAIN.
Argh, loved it, maybe a favorite so far. There is so much going on. So much foreshadowing. So much knowledge suppressed, or endured. So much bitter realization. So many things hinted at and introduced.
Also, as clear as it is (and was said in the episode insider) that this is Armand’s little fanfic version… (as Assad how much of it is used to "paint Armand in a good light"?!) :))) . It was a LOT of fun. :)
And that banquet scene will be in the next episode already!! Whoop whoop, cannot wait!

hi, i know the episode came out weeks ago, but i wanted to talk about ep 277 and your essay on it. i thought it was very well thought out and had brought up lots of concerns abt apollo's other victims and the harm persephone caused to others that i just. hadn't really thought about myself because honestly this webcomic is a BLUR to me LOL. thank you for writing these insights and putting them online for others to read ! i think you manage to keep a respectful distance to rachel [1/]
Yeah, regarding how the SA was handled...
I think Rachel did exactly as well as anyone might have expected someone like her to write a plotline like that.
Honestly if Rachel really did want to do the arrow thing, I think it would have worked WAY better if she had used the arrow of hate. First of all, because it had already been established back in S2 when it was shot at him by Psyche, but ALSO because making it an arrow of love confirmed that Eros literally did what Apollo asked despite the fact that he's Persephone's best friend and should have been more suspicious of what he was going to use it for. Why not just do a bait & switch where Apollo is under the impression that it's an arrow of love but Persephone trusts in her friend and pieces it together that it's probably an arrow of hate? It would also payoff the whole "news crew being nearby" thing (as well as all the other gods that just randomly showed up) because uh oh now they all see his true nature and he can't hide behind his lies anymore!
After all, as I mentioned in my previous post about this (the one I believe you're referring to) it's not like there wasn't already foreshadowing that Apollo was going to fall on his own sword the way of Mr Waternoose from Monster's Inc, he was already showing signs of cracking under the guilt that he was feeling towards how he treated Persephone/Eris/Hermes/etc. so why did it have to be Persephone taking a massive risk by sticking him with an arrow of love that still doesn't fully explain why he would even suddenly be a changed man? Loads of people like Apollo think they're in love / define their infatuation as love so I don't see how an arrow of love would suddenly make him empathetic to her pain. Especially when, again, he still begs her not to make him confess, so the guilt he's feeling is still completely empty and unmotivated.
I will leave this with one final thing that I saw the other day that very much reminded me of the Apollo SA plotline and I think it rings very true for the misdirected conclusion of the plot itself:
One of the biggest issues of the Apollo SA plotline, at least in my opinion, is that it never really gets to the root of why people like Apollo exist. There absolutely were strong foundations for this - he's the son of a guy who's known for being a serial cheater, he's popular and egotistical and is used to women wanting him, etc. - but all of those foundations kind of fell to the wayside in favor of turning Apollo into just another boogeyman, especially to lift Hades up as a "good man" by comparison (when Hades himself also falls on this spectrum). But many people like Apollo aren't just random guys in an alleyway or conspiring with some "higher power" that's manipulating them, they're men who fundamentally do not understand consent and assault on the varying spectrums in which it exists from "SA just exists, oh well" passiveness to "I'm an actual monster who gets pleasure out of victimizing women" aggressiveness. I think there's a lot to discuss about how people like Apollo exist WITHOUT sympathizing with them, but LO manages to do neither - not only does it give us uncomfortable and unnecessary looks into the rapist's POV more than we get the victims, but it does it in a way that doesn't actually address the issue of how people like Apollo come to be, it's just "Apollo is the big evil boogeyman who raped Persephone". Not only does it not actually put enough focus on the victims, but it reduces the societal and cultural complexities of where Apollo's brand of egotistical entitlement comes from to just "some guys just be evil like that". Guys like Apollo don't just come out of the womb like that, they're often shaped into what they are by a society that both excuses them for awful behavior towards girls ("Boys will be boys!") and enables - if not outright encourages - them to objectify women as trophies that they're entitled to. Even the seemingly innocent and sentimental practice of "giving away a bride" at a wedding is rooted in these patriarchal systems, with the belief that a woman first "belongs" to her father before being "given to" her husband.
It's the part of feminism that often gets overlooked - it's not just about uplifting female voices and helping survivors speak up about and heal from SA, it's also about deconstructing and challenging the patriarchal systems that lead to SA victims being created in the first place. Sure, Apollo got sentenced to building temples in the Mortal Realm, but what is that actually doing to address the bigger topic of how men like him come to exist in the first place? Especially when it was also treated as a good thing for TGOEM to be disbanded, instead of, idk... reworking it into a women's support group for survivors like Persephone?
IDK, it's a very complicated subject that you can approach from a million different angles, I don't think that my criticizing it should outweigh the opinions of those who were satisfied with the punishment that was given to Apollo (my saying the SA plotline sucked doesn't mean you're not allowed to find your own validation in it) but I do think that, at best, Rachel ended the SA plotline the only way she could because she herself is just not equipped to tackle such broad subjects that require a lot more education, experience, and nuance than what she's capable of writing. There are definitely 1298423108 better ways that plotline could have been resolved, but not with Rachel Smythe at the helm.
And that's my many cents on that.

I have a big google doc thing where I keep track of media and stuff (putting everything in loosely ranked categories), which is mostly just for my own reference so I know what tv shows I've already seen before, etc. and I never really look back through it, typically just a quick "okay, watched two movie in the past 8 months, need to quickly slap them somewhere in the lists. okay. done. save document. exit". But today I was actually reading through some of the old notes and there are like... MULTIPLE places where my comment is basically "It would have been good if it were about elves" or "I wish there was a fantasy show made in this same style" or "It's well made, but I just keep thinking about how I would like it more if everyone was an elf or was in old 1700s costumes" or etc like...... lol.... Most biased media ranking system on earth blatantly made by someone with an extremely hyperspecific range of narrow interests. It'd be like if a food reviewer only had 5 foods they actually liked, so they'd just go to a pizza place and be like "eh, the pizza was okay, but I just think it would be better if it was cereal instead. :/ ...2 out of 10"

Like there's an interesting comparison between how people treat Dean fulfilling his destiny versus Sam. Dean is the Michael Sword. He is a weapon, something to be used. In contrast, the demons want Sam to be a willing participant. Lilith wanted him to actively raise Lucifer, she didn't force him at gunpoint to kill her. The entire point was that he had to choose it. He wasn't to simply be used, he was to be seduced. And I think that difference is really shown in how Lucifer vs AU!Michael treat them as their vessels. Lucifer gives Sam twisted "gifts" because he's a sadistic asshole but also because he wants Sam to like it deep down, while Michael basically treats Dean like a particularly well-made suit or an expensive accessory.

last wednesday evening my household received news of a passing within our family. because of this my activity may be spottier than normal, i know its already slower due to playing reload, but i want to thank everyone for their patience. next weekend its likely i will be traveling out of state to attend the funeral & say my final goodbyes, i may or may not be mobile during the travel but absent from here or im / disc communication regardless during that time frame.
while kind words are appreciated & im not saying they are unwanted; the best way to help or show support if you want is to just aid in distraction. asks, threads, plotting etc help more for me as a person than a ear to listen. so dont fret over special attention nor avoiding the topic of death that is so prevalent in this series, i'm alright & this online space is a good reprieve for me. again, thank you so much & have a good day !

it’s so funny when terfs are like ‘um actually that trans historical figure was really just a woman dressing up to escape the patriarchy!!1!’ because like.. you mean to tell me a person dressing as a man despite ‘not actually being one’ was a) believed because people knew someone’s gender was none of their fucking business and b) an important contributor to whatever they contributed to + didn’t just dress up to look at coochie in public bathrooms

21. favorite animated film?
哪吒闹海 nezha 1979 hands down! i don't really watch animated films to begin with out of preference (though i should try more at some point) but it is very special to me!
38. in your opinion what's the most overrated movie?
lolol this is the most difficult one so far!!! man, there are way too many movies i do not like/enjoy as much as people seemed to. NOT the most overrated, but one of the representatives for me is f/rewell my concubine 1993, considering its status as ""number 1 of chinese cinema""...... hoping nobody stones me to death at this point :] not saying it's bad-bad, just saying i personally didn't manage to connect with it and the ultra high praises surrounding it.

what chess piece represents you?
the black knight.
you are a black knight, the black sheep, the underdog. as the only piece that can jump over others, you can easily get yourself in and out of situations - always catching people off guard with your charisma and cunning. you move in the shadows, trading information with shady people, getting the upper hand through not always good methods. how far do you think this road can take you? for all your charisma or cunning, lies can only get you so far. one day, that mask you've put on will slip, and you'll be left defenseless. but until then, oh black knight, live like there's no tomorrow - because there might not be.

Real quick PSA for the followers, just to make sure my positions are clear on some issues and to make sure I am not causing any unintentional harm (that devolved into a minor hiatus):
-If I'm intending to talk about something specific, I'll mention it, I promise.
-I do be forgetting that you all recognize me on both my A03
and my tumblr. It is surprising to me every time. I tend to be vERY flippant on here, especially in my tags. I think we have reached a point where I should be more careful lol. I am not used to having an actual effect, so if I have an effect you don't appreciate, or I say something hurtful, please please bring it up to me! Dms, anon, replies; idc, I'm always down for a conversation.
-I am not in the business of apologies I do not mean, and I certainly do not back down from my opinions, I think that's been fairly clear. So, if I apologize it's because I mean it, and that won't change.
-I make a lot of posts that are critical of fandom culture in a lot of different fandoms, and culture around specific characters as well. I want it to be very clear that unless I am directly interacting with another user, then the criticism should never surround anyone specific. I never want to direct hate ever, unless I'm tagging.
-If there are questions about the appropriateness of my headcanon posts in response to asks, that can be changed. I would really hate to be making my very small community uncomfortable. I had thought I was fairly clear on the blogs boundaries and what I think is appropriate, but perhaps I haven't been careful enough. Please feel free to address issues with me, or to block me. That is always an option of course.
Uh, that being said, I might take a couple days. I have used this blog for fun and friends since 2015, it's not my first time fucking up nor will it be the last. But, it's upsetting to me that my blog might be harmful to some (who I hadn't intended it to be harmful to, it's always been an active warzone for irredeemable character excusers lol, since 2015). The queue will go on as usual but no new posts for a bit while I figure out if things need to change. I'll respond to DMs tho, probably, bc I'm obsessed with my mutuals.

@temporarydaydream sent in this question ages ago and I loved it so much that I wanted my answer to do it justice.
Dude, I ate this question up I loved it soooo much, I will be going hugely overboard on this answer because I have THOUGHTS haha
For reference, this is the post...
Also, I know you didn't ask about Matt but Im including him here too (for good reason, you’ll see) and ALSO I am nowhere near as well versed in L as I am with Mello and Matt, so his description may be a bit more brief.
....
Wammy’s Boys and Asexuality Headcanons
(ft: L, Mello, & Matt)
...
L: Aromantic/Asexual (Sex-repulsed)
Oddly enough, L was the most difficult to write for.
L knows that the title of “L” needs to be what everyone thinks him to be. Very little emotional personal life, a need to be perfect or “pure” in a sense (something something Lawlight foot scene and how its a biblical reference yada yada) and a career-focused life dedicated to detective work.
This outlook was likely introduced to him, as well as the other children at Wammy’s at a very young age, but L knows he is simply best fitted to fulfill that standard. He took on the title because it worked for him. He is able to function with less "distraction" than others simply because a romantic or sexual connection is not what he personally values. Only justice is.
Which means he chooses to value refining his skills in his free time, rather than seeing it as work. That's also why Lawlight exists. Light is the only other person able to keep up with L, and both of them value each others intellect in a personal and possibly emotional way. L's values are in his work and no one was ever able to really empathetically understand him until Light. And in a way that understanding and appreciation is intimate enough, especially for L.
...
Mello: Demiromantic/Asexual
Like L, Mello’s lofty standards for self-achievement are reflected in his sexuality. And a big reason as to how Mello is able to dedicate his entire life to his cause is because he does not have to “deal with” the “affliction of sexual attraction” (if I were to put it in his words).
However, unlike L, Mello is not sex-repulsed in the slightest. Well, not in a typical sense. Mello has a pretty active sex life but not for the reason some onlookers assume him to be. Mello specifically and exclusively uses his attractive appearance and sex appeal as a tool and ONLY as a tool. Whether it be to obtain information for a job, or just as a no strings attached stress reliever, Mello has gotten in the routine of using sex for a non-sexual purpose because of the one-up it gives him. It him feel powerful and in control in an area many others would feel exposed.
Consequently, Mello actively avoids sex in his personal relationships because the idea of a sexual relationship has been tainted due to his unhealthy use of the act in his line of work. And that can also be difficult with his demiromantic alignment, if he doesn’t know how to express his feelings. So I think Mello represses. A lot. Which brings me to his relationship with Matt.
I’ll get into Matt’s details next, but Mello is in fact capable of having romantic feelings for Matt, but his actions have left him stuck without a way to communicate that in a way Matt understands. We have an epic stalemate of love languages between the boys and it’s often a train wreck of a miscommunication because neither is capable of meeting the other’s romantic needs without compromise. And Mello already doesn’t do that well.
Mello already does not feel sexual attraction to begin with (even if we ignore his questionable work relationship with sex) and Matt would never dream of trusting a stranger to share a bed with him. They are circles of a Venn diagram that will never naturally intersect.
...
Matt: Greyromantic/Demisexual
Ah Matt. I see him as very similar to myself, so I usually base a lot of my HCs for him around my experiences.
Matt is complicated. He is Mello’s foil in a lot of cases, but in terms of their sexualities, they conflict in more ways than they agree. Specifically because Matt exclusively cannot feel inclined to have sex with anyone unless he knows and feels safe with them. And that is rooted in a lot of trust issues, especially including when Mello abandoned him at Wammy’s. But specifically, Matt would much prefer to feel safe in everything he does, and being in a vulnerable state without trusting the opposite party is just not something Matt can do comfortably.
So when we look at that in the context of his near-lifelong relationship with Mello we run into a massive problem. Matt wants to express his feelings in a more sexually intimate way, whereas Mello actively avoids that in personal relationships in which he is emotionally and romantically invested in. The only way Mello intends to communicate intamacy is in asking Matt for help in his work. And that leads to A LOT of the tension we see between them.
If Matt wasn't complicated enough, his crushes are usually people he knows as close friends, but not always. However the shortest crush Matt has ever had was about 4 months. The longest (excluding Mello) was 4 years and was on a friend he lost touch with after an unrelated falling out of their friendship.
He almost never acts on his feelings but doesn’t exclusively fit the demiromantic description. The demi label confuses him immensely and is the source of a lot of insecurity on top of his confusion and anxiety around his relationship with Mello, so he falls more into the grey category.
...
***I am not an expert in this (I’m still learning) these are personal observations and opinions as a questioning demi if I say anything offensive, please let me know and I will correct it, I mean no ill intent here just well-intended character analysis***
Hope this answered your question! Thank you SO much for asking, I had a lot of fun writing this up <3

Went to a place where alcohol is served and was so brave about it. I obviously didn't order anything, my friends ordered a beer and a spiked lemonade of some sort so that we could sit there.
When they suggested the place, I immediately stated 'I don't drink though.' to which one of my friends responded with 'Chill, I'm not drinking today either, spent enough money today.'
When we were going, I said that I might actually just go home, but they were so chill and understanding that I decided to stay with them in the end. 'Seriously, you don't have to drink, we're just gonna try out the cool board game I bought.' 'Don't even worry about it, it's not like we're going there to get sloshed, or even drink, really.'
And there was genuinely no pressure, no asking, no nothing. We literally did just try out the board game and it was really cool.
With how strong the alcohol culture is here, with how many family members and random people insisted on me drinking or got blackout drunk around me (with no way for me to escape) despite my goddamn trauma, I'm just so genuinely moved? They have no way of knowing what's up with me, I never told them. They can only suspect something is up with the way I never go with them whenever they meet up specifically 'to go to a pub'. Yet they're way more understanding than my own damn mother.
This is such a basic thing - respecting people's boundaries - yet here I am, getting sappy about it. Man, I love my friends. I really got lucky, many people don't get to hang out with their friends from grade school like I do.
