Animage June 2024 Issue ft. Soma Satoru Interview (translation below)
Publication: May 10, 2024 (between episodes 10-11)
The True Face of a Procurer
Suddenly coming and going before the Boonboomgers and procuring what they need from out of nowhere. A mysterious man with a soft yet elusive appearance. That's the procurer, Genba Bureki.
"What brings me joy is supporting and witnessing the progress of people who are serious about tackling something."
Genba had been involved with the Boonboomgers as a procurer after repeatedly turning down countless offers from Taiya Hando. Taiya said, "We're gonna continue to crank up. I wonder if you'll be able to keep up," and Genba was blown away by how he saw them team up to fight and overcome their challenges. Understanding that he isn't strong as he is now, he makes the decision to join the Boonboomgers.
Just like Taiya, who dreams of winning the BBG (Big Bang Grand Prix), a car race held throughout the universe, each member of the Boonboomgers has their own goals and objectives. Genba also said that when he joined, he'd be able to do "what he wanted to do" as a Boonboomger. He also said, "I'm not sure how serious I am when it comes to myself." For Genba, who wants to "do what he wants to do," will the moment come where he gets serious? To begin with, what is it he "wants to do"? Genba's actions are still shrouded in mystery, and we can't take our eyes off of him!
-Genba's character development will make you think about his background-
"Genba Bureki, who had been supporting the Boonboomgers as a procurer, finally changed to BoonOrange in episode 7."
Soma: When I lined up with everyone else and said "Boonboom Change!," I finally felt that I had joined the team and had become a Boonboomger. It used to feel like as soon as I appeared, my time was over, so when I picked up the Boonboom Booster and Changed, I thought, "I'm a Boonboomger!"
"Your transformation pose is also impressive, with your left leg raised to use your knee to push the button."
Soma: The first thing I was told was to push the button with my knee. I consulted with a bunch of people, including BoonOrange's Suit Actor Ono Yukimasa-kun, about how to make it look cool and sharp, and conversely, how to make it look mature and relaxed, and we ended up with the pose I have now.
"As the number of episodes increase, the pose will become alot more polished."
Soma: That's right. I'd like to compare the Change in episode 7 with the Change in the final episode. In the end, I might be able to lift my leg up really high (laughs).
"(laughs). Genba is often mysterious, but is there anything that's important to you when playing the role?"
Soma: I'm conscious of creating a character that'll make the viewers think, "What kind of person is this person?" To be honest, I don't know everything about Genba either. I'm trying to include a mysterious element that'll make people want to imagine what this person is thinking as they watch.
"Speaking of, Soma-san, what kind of past do you think Genba has?"
Soma: At first, Genba didn't join the Boonboomgers, right? I feel like there's some meaning to that too. Also, in episode 6, when he muttered "Madrex…..," in my mind I felt that he might have a connection to Madrex and the other Hashiryans. For example, I'm thinking that there must've been some event in the past that made him lose the desire to make friends, such as the loss of a friend due to the Hashiryans.
"Since joining the Boonboomgers, you've had more scenes with members other than Taiya Hando, what do you keep in mind when interacting with those members?"
Soma: I think it's important to bring out the different flavors or colors of each character. I'm hoping to bring out the other's characters, like Mira’s naivety, and Jou’s hot bloodedness. Especially with Chasshiro, I'm much more conscious since we're both very cool and have easily understandable positions.
"We think the exchange between Genba and Chasshiro regarding Taiya in episode 9 showed the difference between the two."
Soma: That's for sure. Even when we were performing together, I thought to myself, "This is how Chasshiro's supposed to be."
"Soma-san, are there any other members besides Genba that you are interested in?"
Soma: I like the straightforwardness of Jou, it's impressive because it's something that Genba lacks. We haven't had that many interactions in the story yet, so I'm looking forward to seeing how we'll be involved in the future.
-Episode 10's action supported by the staff-
"In episode 10, many scenes were depicted of you and Mira as a duo working together."
Soma: This was the first time where I was heavily involved with a member other than Taiya, and it was also the first episode where I was able to do some solid action untransformed.
"Another major point is the fact that the Director was Watanabe Jun-san, who usually works as an Action Director."
Soma: Right, I thought there'd be alot of action since it's Jun-san, but there was more than I expected (laughs). For my role as Genba, I have to show composure even when fighting, but I myself was fumbling around trying to figure out how to move, so it was difficult to avoid not being myself.
"Assistant Producer Yoshikawa Fumiki, who happened to be there said, "I didn't know that kid could move to such an extent" which became a hot topic."
Soma: Really?! I might become overconfident (laughs).
"Was all the action in episode 10 done by Soma-kun?"
Soma: I asked Ono-kun to stand in for some parts, but I did the whirlwind kick and the actions with the suitcase. Ono-kun has been practicing Chinese martial arts since he was a child, and all of his movements are beautiful and cool. In episode 10, I played the role while learning alot from Ono-kun, such as, "It'll look cooler this way." After all, I can't lose to Jou.
"The most mobile of the Boonboomgers is Jou, played by Saito Ryu-san."
Soma: That's what I think. He works out alot (laughs). I'd be happy if I get the chance to do some more untransformed action in future episodes. Since they have me play it cool after the transformation, I also want to move more easily, so I want to train for that. I want to challenge myself and grow in action throughout this year.
"We're looking forward to seeing more action scenes in the future! Finally, please tell us about some future highlights."
Soma: I think we're probably at the point where there'll be some rumors about "Engine Sentai Go-Onger" appearing or not (laughs), but I hope you'll keep high expectations for that. The most recent episode 11, which was also directed by Jun-san, is an episode where you can see everyone's different from usual Boonboom Changes. Personally, I had alot of fun with it through trial and error, and everyone did a cool Change, so please make sure you pay attention to that! _
Q: What's your favorite anime/manga? I've played soccer for a long time, so I've seen alot of soccer anime and manga. I especially enjoyed "Captain Tsubasa," which I watched when I was in elementary school. And then there are works which I think everyone has seen before like "ONE PIECE," which I also like. (-Soma)
Q: How do you unwind in your private time? It's futsal. Kicking a ball is fun, and I like that I can forget about things like work. It's not a reaction to the exercise, but I also like to eat whatever I want after futsal (laughs). Also saunas! Just recently, all the male members went to one. (-Soma)
Q: What's something you'd like Genba to procure for you? I wonder what it'd be……something from the lottery? (laughs). To be realistic, I'd want him to procure a smart phone for me since my camera lens broke and I'd like to get a new one. However, asking Genba to do it might be abit risky, as I'm afraid he'll charge me alot of money for it (laughs). (-Soma) _
Genba's Words By looking back on them, we can get closer to his true feelings……maybe?
"Seems like you're having trouble……" (Ep. 2 + others) This is a common phrase often said by Genba. With this phrase, he appears out of nowhere to accept requests from Taiya and the others, or to hand over items he's procured. Sometimes, like in episode 7, it ends in failure, with the Boonboomgers overcoming their situation before the items were handed over.
"Can you deliver the Boonboomgers?" (Ep. 4) With ISA trying to take control of the Boonboomgers, during the discussion between Taiya and the others, the Hashiryans appear in the city. On the scene, Genba asks Taiya to make a delivery: the Boonboomgers to people who need help. This little pretentious phrasing may also be a characteristic of Genba.
"It's me. I'm gonna accelerate you guys." (Ep. 7) Genba's reply to Taiya's question, "Procurer. What'd you bring us today?" With Taiya's invitation, "You'd be closest to us and get to sit in the best seat in the house to witness the moment we crank up," Genba takes control of the "wheel" known as Boonboomger and changes into BoonOrange for the first time.
"Deliverer, it's surprisingly interesting." (Ep. 10) Genba becomes interested in the work of a deliverer that Taiya's so passionate about. Together with Mira, who he met by chance, he delivers the energy source in a case to the research lab……by making the Hashiryans think that way in his successful decoy mission to lure them out. Genba has discovered the fun of being a deliverer, so keep an eye out on his future actions!

dude your art is so GOOD!!! Do you take any classes or have any tips to share? that resource post you reblogged the other day was helpful but i've felt so stuck in my art. I don't know if you have anything u learned that just made something click for u or anything like that?
Tysm anon!!!👍
In terms of your questions, I apologise i advance for the long answer im about to give and possibly things you already know haha:
I guess in terms of what classes i take, Ive gone from GCSE to A level Art and design (Fine art), and both courses have helped me to learn the importance of observation studies.
However, its moreso all the art i practice in my own time that has played the biggest part in my art improvement journey. I adopted art as a big hobby around 2018, and really ever since then I tend to draw/create for myself every day, however big or small it may be.
I guess my first tip would be to indulge in a 'sketchbook' or space to work in freely, it could be any form but the importance is that its personal and can be picked up whenever. I find that having a sketchbook to draw in has really helped with productivity and creating new ideas. I think you can go into a sketchbook space with any mindset and it can work wonders, like for example if you wanted to focus purely on challenging yourself, you can do that! If you just, want to doodle without thinking, go ahead! After all, its a sketchbook for you and nobody else, so go wild!
My next tip would definitely be, when you are feeling stuck in art, to take inspiration from a wide range of different things be it in real life or on the internet, a building or a really cool tree, since I find it defintiely fuels the creation of new ideas/concepts that can provide a path out of that creative rut. I guess to an extent there may always be periods where you have that 'I have no idea what to draw!' Feeling, and thats okay! Sometimes its refreshing that helps the most. But I often see that the solution to being in a rut is usually REFERENCING, wether it be trying to accurately draw the anatomy of an arm or if I just saw a cool design/pose/style on Pinterest and i drew a bunch of wacky characters from it. In fact, I find that places like Pinterest or Resplash are such good resources to hone imagination and generally most art skills by looking at and drawinf from all the cool images (and get some of that inspo!). And if im not using Pinterest, im usually using an art book as reference! (The itsv and splatoon art book helped me so so much lol)
On the topic of REFERENCING, its mega important! Depending on imagination/memory feels pretty good at times but its always beneficial to have image references in your process when you find its good to have them. I woudl always recommend having a reference when drawing poses/expressions/anatomy because the more you use them, the more you learn about how an object like a face muscle, a torso or even light behaves and looks and the easier it is to draw/depict them.
The next tip is uh YOUTUBE, or any account/person who's art inspires you in particular. I found that certain channels like Ethan Becker, Marc Brunet, Marco Bucci and more have helped me the most to gain confidence in drawing and learning how to practice it better. Of course, theres a lot to learn from a plethora of other channels too, even ones that dont specifically promote themselves as teachers! Also, if theres a certain style/art approach or an artist that appeals to you, study it in any way you like! Analyse an artist's work or ask/find out about their personal process (or even watch a speedpaint/art stream)! Sometimes it can be a big inspiration booster and skill boost to do just that (plus the 'artist' could be any piece of media/thing too!! Like a game or something).
Ok ok last paragraph haha, on the topic of your last question. Thinking back, its hard for me to define any specific moment or thing that gave me a 'click' moment. Its more like a process of growth that starts with learning and understanding a new thing, then familiarizing myself with using it successfully/'correctly' by studying and practicing, so that eventually its like muscle memory or easier to use in my work.
Hope this helps!!! If theres anything else you want to ask, dont be afraid to dm or send another ask!!

Inuyashiki Review
As time goes on, and technology progressively gets more and more complicated, we as humans can’t help but feel a little bit of fear. Any tool or technology, put into the wrong hands, can become a weapon of mass destruction, regardless of original purpose. What happens, then, when a person with a pure heart, and a bitter person, both gain something extraordinary? Will they make changes for the better, or lay waste to this land? All of this is to say, I was assigned the anime adaptation of Hiroya Oku’s hit manga Inuyashiki for my club’s monthly anime exchange. The series, which was surprisingly short, packed a hefty emotional punch, but sometimes left visuals at the wayside.
Tumblr media
Inuyashiki follows the titular character Ichirou Inuyashiki, an elderly-looking 58 year old who is diagnosed with late-stage cancer and given only a few months to live. While standing in a field, he and a highschool boy are struck by a mysterious object, killing them instantly. Their minds are transferred to robotic bodies, which look nearly identical to their original ones, but offer them extraordinary powers. The two grapple with their inhumanity, using their powers to try and regain a lost sense of self, and eventually come into conflict over the lives of Japan itself.
Tumblr media
Much of this series focuses on the deterioration of the human body. From the beginning, the concept of the human body being fragile and weak is ever present, as Inuyashiki is given his cancer diagnosis with little hope of recovery. Only when his body is quite literally destroyed then replaced does his health improve, but then, it is not quite his own. His back pain is gone, but so is his spinal chord, now replaced by rocket boosters. He can take down a few dozen thugs in a fist fight, but doesn’t bleed. His new body is a  spectacle, but also a horror, something which the series doesn’t shy away from discussing. Unlike other popular ‘suddenly-superhero’ anime characters, Inuyashiki is horrified of what his body has become, and takes a while to accept his new form and all it’s abilities. This, is what I believe, makes his story compelling.
Tumblr media
Inuyashiki is not your average hero. His combat skills are lacking, and even when he chooses to fight, the computers in his body usually have to finish the job for him. His ranged attacks, while impressive, are rarely under his conscious control, though when they are, he can pull off some insane damage. For the most part, though, Inuyashiki chooses to forgo violence and instead try to help as many people as possible. Despite having at least a dozen cannons attached to his body, he is hesitant to use them, and takes quite a bit of effort to do so. His reluctance to use violence, even in the face of danger, is what makes him such an interesting character, and sets him apart from other anime cyborgs.
Tumblr media
Rarely have I seen such a kind-hearted, gentle killer robot in all of my years of watching anime. Over the course of this series’ 11 episodes, I watched this man give everything he had to anyone in need, never asking for a cent in return. He has the sort of generosity and caring that you only ever really find in the elderly, to be honest. It’s not often that I find myself admiring a character of his age, but after seeing all that he had done for the people of Japan, I think I can make an exception just this once.
Tumblr media
However, this series wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, at least, for me. I know that it’s a common complaint among anime fans, and at this point, most might be expecting this, but the I didn’t like the CG animation in this series. Please bear with me, as I understand this makes me sound like a whiny weeaboo, but it is important. CG animation is not the killer of anime, as recent shows like Trigun: Stampede have shown. In the right hands, CG has the potential to create charming and lively animation, but in the case of Inuyashiki, it’s clear that it was just used to save money. The series flip-flops between 2-D and 3-D on a whim, giving viewers like me visual whiplash. It makes sense why the studio would use 3-D, given the complexity of the robot bodies, but did they have to swap between styles so often? Perhaps this series would've been better if it had just been 3-D the entire time.
Tumblr media
I say that, but the 3-D in this series leaves much to be desired. While not abhorrent to look at, there were times where a character’s expression was clearly supposed to look dramatic, and ended up looking comical. Its never a good sign when a character is fighting for their life, and your first response is to laugh. This series is not that old, too, which makes this even more egregious. If 3-D is the future of anime, someone get me a time machine, I want to go home.
Tumblr media
I wish I could say more positive things about this series, but it’s quite the mixed bag. For every groan-worthy or unintentionally hilarious moment, there were ones that were genuinely heartwarming or memorable. The villain, while a bit confusing motivations-wise, was a genuine threat whose powers were equally silly and terrifying. The dog, Hanako, was adorable, but her barks sounded like they came from an early 2000′s free sound effects pack. There were moments in this series that I really enjoyed, like Inuyashiki saving a woman from being kidnapped by the Yakuza, his unlikely friendship with a boy obsessed with Gantz, and the final fight between him and the main antagonist. This isn’t a terrible series: it’s got a strong emotional center that it uses in healthy amounts to keep audiences worrying for it’s protagonist or important side characters, a catchy opening that I’ve been humming all day, and pretty good fight scenes. If you are willing to look past the CG, give it a shot. It may not be for the faint of heart, but trust me, I’ve seen worse.

ted kord!
yahoo!
• favorite thing about them:
i love how human ted is. all of his struggles with his mental and physical health, the way he copes with them, his relationship to being a hero and guilt and responsibility, they make him more realistic, more well-rounded. i like seeing (most of) his ups and downs and how he feels both compelled to be a hero through his feelings of obligation to the man that came before him and his own rush of attachment to it. i love his funny bug-themed gadgets and how inventing is a genuine passion of his and and i ted. <3
least favorite thing about them:
• the entire club JLI arc. half the things giffen and dematteis write for him, honestly
favorite line:
• i can’t do these easily so i might go digging and come back later. LOL
brOTP:
• TED AND TORA!! They have such a sweet, caring friendship and they don’t underestimate each other. tora understands ted and he enjoys her company. the scene during the first JLI despero arc where they both leave the embassy and he calls her sweetheart… and the ways in which they parallel each other when it comes to their relationships to their closest friends. i adore them. i also love ted and bea! they’re fun :) and ted and babs! their friendship in BoP was such a nice thing for the both of them, i loved their banter and they were surprisingly very compatible! i like how they were able to choose to stay friends even when their romance didn’t take off, and how they helped and hung out with each other.
OTP:
• non-question, it’s ted/booster. i’m not going to get into exactly why here because there’s meat to it that goes beyond the standard “blue and gold are classic, lol!” but essentially even if they have ups and downs they’re some of the most important people in the world to each other and their relationship is one of my favorites in all of media, really. as a gay dude it hits the spot.
nOTP:
• i haven’t really seen a lot of ted ships i HATE other than ted/maxwell lord. i don’t like him with bea or tora romantically because i enjoy how they were able to be very platonically close despite the expectation that “oh, two girls (bea and tora) and two guys (ted and booster) let’s pair them up”.
random headcanon:
• big fan of prog music. 20 minute long songs help him focus when he needs sound and he enjoys concept albums as an adult sci-fi dork
unpopular opinion:
• many people including writers forget that he isnt really that quirky and misunderstood in the way they make him out to be. i think it started with g*off j*hns and spiraled. also, more solo content please. i love him with booster, but they’re ALWAYS together in more modern content. i want some classic ted back with him and his own supporting characters.
song i associate with them:
• don’t let’s start by they might be giants
favorite picture of them:
• for some reason tumblr isnt letting me post? i’ll do this one later as well but i like the one where he’s in the bunny ears and the other one from extreme justice where he gets really excited about the alien tech he’s uncovered. also any picture of him crawling and hanging on things and the various images of him hanging from the bug’s handhold.

The Future Of Games: Comprehending Video Game Boosting
Tumblr media
The gaming field has taken a remarkable change lately, no more simply concerning pure enjoyment yet additionally affordable functionality. Within this new arena, a particular niche method has actually developed that is transforming the method players approach their beloved labels: game boosting.
Coming from newbies to experienced gamers, the principle of fortnite boost is actually both fascinating as well as questionable. This article is going to certainly not simply debunk this pc gaming subculture yet additionally explore its ramifications for the future of digital pc gaming.
The Importance of Boosting
Game boosting is the act helpful gamers improve with video game quicker than they could possibly by themselves. It's a kind of solution provided through professional gamers, a lot better called "boosters," that are hired to enhance yet another player's in-game stats or even advance via degrees. This relatively easy act has profound effects for the pc gaming area.
Boosting services may feature a series of tasks, including leveling up characters, obtaining rare items, or even accomplishing specific in-game accomplishments. While the strategy possesses its own critics that dispute that it undermines the feeling of video gaming, it has actually gained significant traction for a range of causes.
Explanations for Boosting's Increase
youtube
Opportunity is actually Amount of money: In a busy world, game opportunity is priceless. Boosting companies enable time-poor people to take pleasure in web content that might or else be out of range because of real-world time constraints.
One-upmanship: In the realm of multiplayer video games, some information can only be accessed by means of notable in-game feats. Boosting gives an alternative to grinding so gamers can easily still be competitive without the opportunity expenditure.
Development of E-Sports: Along with the growth of e-sports and also specialist games, there is actually a growing viewers of those that wish to experience reasonable play or even web content without the in some cases lengthy training called for.
Money making and also Purchases: Video games are actually significantly changing to a company style, with in-game acquisitions and memberships. Boosting suit this style, allowing gamers to spend genuine amount of money to obtain in-game benefits.
The Future Improvement
Looking ahead, dota 2 boost is likely to become more prevalent, especially along with the carried on growth of live-service video games as well as their associated digital economic conditions. This can trigger both even more sophisticated companies and also, potentially, an in-game economic condition landscape that incorporates video game boosting as component of the regular games ecological community.
For developers and also publishers, comprehending the job of game boosting might provide understandings into just how gamers value their opportunity and also the content they want to spend for. It could also offer a chance to design video game bodies that are actually extra accommodating to unique play types as well as player purposes, potentially lowering the requirement for exterior boosting services.
To conclude, while video game boosting presently exists in a quite grey location within the games neighborhood, it is positioned to mold the future of electronic pc gaming as well as is actually a part all video gaming aficionados need to understand. Whether it's consulted with visibility, disbelief, or policy, the video gaming garden our team're moving into is actually one where the standard concepts of game development and accomplishment are constantly being redefined.

Oh, look, another preface. I am not fond of war movies or faith-based/adjacent movies. With that being said, I will try to remain as unbiased as possible.
The first half of this movie was very reminiscent of Letters from Iwo Jima. I see a lot of similarities between this film and that (though Letters left me distraught and bereft and miserable etc etc so on and so forth) with Mizushima kind of being known for the harp playing and Saigo being a baker. It's hard not to separate the two in my mind but I will say this movie is at least less brutal than Letters because owie talk about depressing.
I love the importance of music used throughout this film. It connects everyone both within the regiment of the Japanese soldiers as well as the solidarity when their troop gets surrounded by the British at the beginning. The music of the harp unites pretty much everyone at some point in this film (Mizushim and the child, the nurses at the hospital singing hymns over the grave of an unknown Japanese solider, etc) and I think that's done fairly masterfully. I'm a huge music buff so I vibe with that hard. I also like that, in a sense, Mizushima directly calls into question that mentality Bushido during the war when he goes to the mountain to talk down the other Japanese troops that refused to surrender.
I love that everyone who meets Mizushima just loves him so much. His troops' dedication to him is so sweet. His captain, too. Probably has to do with the fact that he was their morale booster during the war, and battle buddies etc. Likewise, Mizushima's dedication to going back to bury all the bodies of the Japanese soldiers he found trying to find the camp is commendable.
There were weird audio issues throughout that would take me right out of the story. The audio not syncing up particularly with the old woman and also for like a good chunk in the center of the film. Also, the music would start to crescendo and fit the action on screen it would immediately cut out to near-silence. It was extremely jarring and uncomfortable.
There was, however, an excellent match cut part with the bodies lying in Triangle Mountain and Mizushima after he was rescued that I love love love. Makes me think of the movie The Fall (all time favorite movie) and I just love a well done match cut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The vibe I get from this film is very much survivors guilt. Mizushima felt responsible that he couldn't change the mind of the soldiers in the mountain when that was his mission and they all perished. Trying to find his troop after he stole the monk's clothes he saw nothing but the bodies of his fellow countrymen left to rot to the elements. Mizushima is a character that loves his country and his brothers-in-arms above everything, and he couldn't live with the disrespect that they were facing. He even tried to talk the others out of a meaningless death with refusing to surrender because he loves his people. It could read as a commentary on how bushido killed an untold number of his brothers-in-arms unnecessarily, because the mentality itself is toxic.
The two parrots being swapped is just like masochism for each other, I swear. Constant reminders that he is choosing not to go home while the bird reminds him that his brothers care so deeply for him--and the flip side, his words telling them that he can't return with them like he promised.
Could've done without the faith bit but again that's my own personal bias. You do you, buddy. I respect your dedication to your cause regardless.
For a war movie I didn't entirely hate it. Probably because it was more character driven and the war was just the backdrop.
Final thoughts: like in the picture I used it gives me so much Odin energy despite him being a whole ass monk. I love the Captain. There were several humorous bits.

FIRE PRO WRESTLING CARD BOUT - THE CCG 'LOST' TO TIME.
Tumblr media
In preparation for exploring Fire Pro Wrestling Card Bout, it's essential to first have a concise overview of the history of Fire Pro Wrestling.

Developed by Human Entertainment, this milestone title made its debut exclusively for the PC Engine platform in Japan. As the inaugural entry in the series, Fire Pro Wrestling Combination Tag holds a significant place in the history of wrestling video games.
It laid the groundwork for the beloved franchise that would go on to captivate wrestling fans and gamers alike for years to come.
After a substantial wait of nearly a decade, North American fans finally got a taste of the Fire Pro Wrestling series on June 11th, 2001. The highly anticipated debut of the franchise in North America took place on the Game Boy Advance console, which conveniently launched on the very same day.

Now, let's take a little leap back in time to the year 2001. Fire Pro Wrestling Card Bout has now entered the scene. Unlike its predecessors, this game took on a different form, emerging as a collectible card game (CCG).
Limited to a release exclusively in Japan, Fire Pro Wrestling Card Bout allowed players to engage in strategic battles using trading cards.
Tumblr media
Above is a look at the now defunct website for Fire Pro Wrestling Card Bout.
Fire Pro Wrestling Card Bout (FPW: CB) transports the action from the screen to the tabletop arena. Given the scarcity of information on FPW: CB, it's important to note that this article cannot encompass all facets of the CCG and might contain inaccuracies.
The product lineup consisted of two options: a Starter Kit and Booster packs. The Booster pack contained 10 random cards and initially retailed at ¥381 upon launch. The game features a total of 256 cards, distributed as follows:
20 'Wrestler' Cards
35 'Skill/Technique' Cards
35 'Throw' Cards
35 'Strike' Cards
35 'Flying' Cards
21 'Defense' Cards
33 'Auxiliary' Cards
22 'Effect' Cards
20 'Special Move' Cards
Tumblr media
The Starter Kit comprises a Rule Book, 1 Damage Marker, and a total of 64 cards, with 1 wrestler card and a mix of 63 non-wrestler cards, retailing for ¥1,429. There are 10 starter decks available in total, although they lack distinct markings on the packaging and are distributed randomly. A starter deck provides sufficient cards for a single player, so each player must assemble their own deck from a starter deck and boosters if they wish to customize their decks. While the Starter Kit does not list a player mat, there are images of a player mat being used.
Three promo cards are confirmed, but additional ones might exist. The first promo card was bundled with Fire Pro Wrestling D (Dreamcast) on March 1st, 2001. The second accompanied Fire Pro Wrestling A (Game Boy Advance) on March 21st, 2001, while the third was released on April 1st, 2001, alongside the Fire Pro Wrestling CB Official Playing Manual.
Tumblr media
The official playing manual, listed at ¥1,760, is a comprehensive gameplay guide encompassing everything you need to know about playing the collectable card game. The manual covers a range of topics, including detailed explanations of game rules and mechanics, instructions for gameplay, introductions and comprehensive overviews of the available cards with their associated data, and suggested decks for optimal performance. The following three chapters are within the 96-page book:
Chapter 1: Fundamental Concepts and Essential Card Game Specifications.
Chapter 2: Strategy Guide for Card Bouts and Deck Construction to Outmatch Opponents.
Chapter 3: Comprehensive Card Catalog (Wrestler Cards & Sample Deck Strategies, Offensive and Defensive Moves, Supportive Elements, and Special Effect Cards).
As of this writing there are no videos or examples of gameplay and the Official Playing Manual and Rule Booklet that accompanied the Starter Kit has not surfaced in a digital form/PDF online.
Tumblr media
Above is a preview of a guide being worked on currently. With no release date set it is currently unknown when it will be completed.

I don’t know much about booster gold, but I will say, seeing ur posts abt him is delightful and has increased my enjoyment of his character :] like I said tho idk much, what’s like the basics? Or what u think is most important about any of ur fav heroes to know?
Oh thank you! I'm glad my crazy ramblings can make ppl happy. I'll keep this to Booster bc it's gonna get sorta long.
I have...so many thoughts about Booster (he is my second favorite dc hero behind Ted!) and If I were to have to sum him up really quickly I would say "He seems like a really simple character but that's his mask, you peel back that mask and he's actually really nuanced."
Which yknow, really vague way to say something about him so here are the top things I first mention when introducing him to people (outside of the fact he's from the future).
I think "he is imposter syndrome as a hero" is a really good way to phrase it if people are willing to have a more nuanced look into WHY that is the case. There are a million reasons he thinks little of himself, he wants everyone to think he is the best to make up for that.
He grew up poor, this is probably one of the most important base things about him when you look at his relationship to money throughout his stories. Also he lived with his twin sister Michelle and his Mother (Ellen) but it seems the weight of expenses in their lives were mostly on HIM because of the circumstances.
Side note: We see Booster often take up roles of caring for people, he sort of has a motherly aspect to him (he's actually a better parent than a certain popular dc hero but lol).
He has a gambling addiction that affected his backstory. He inherited this from his dad, but Booster originally started gambling on his own football games to help pay for his mothers health issues. Only he couldn't stop even as she got better. ( I honestly prefer the original telling of this story where Boosters father never comes back, and Booster can't stop because of his own issues with gambling.)
The basics of Booster wanting to outwardly to the public be seen as "the perfect all American commercial celebrity hero" really leads to interesting retrospection. You can read his story as a lot of things, a lot of people read it as a metaphor for being gay (or trans) and in the closet. I also find he's interesting to read as a disabled and neurodivergent person.
His survival relies on how others view him. This goes for both financially and emotionally (his self worth) This is what fuels a lot of his actions and emotions inwardly. Also how he will explicitly self sabotage his image in explosive ways in moments of high stress To add on to that: In bg vol 1 there's an arc where the league thinks he's turned on them when really he was under cover. when nobody would believe him that he was doing it for good he literally has an explosive reaction. He blows up his house/base for his heroism business then tries to LEAVE to go back to a future time. He also self sabotages his own image post 2000s because he wants other heroes to think lesser of him so his identity as a time master is secret. Just interesting to me.
Overall he's just a really high-emotional guy, need's therapy but considering what dc apparently thinks of therapy he will never get it, deserves better than he thinks he does.
There's so much about Booster I can't fit it all here! But he's worth the reading to find out everything about him if you ever do decide to get more into him :-].

ISAAC BATTERY BUDDY UPDATE
ISAAC BATTERY BUDDY PLUS
On June 27, 2018, a Kickstarter page for The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls, a card game published by Studio71, was launched, and was successfully funded. The release date trailer for this expansion can be found here. It also improves the co-op mode by allowing players to use full-fledged characters rather than babies, and includes a metric boatload of quality-of-life changes to previous content. The expansion is an Updated Re-release of the Antibirth Game Mod, featuring the alternate path and expanding on it with new secondary floors, a plethora of new items (a good number of which originating from Four Souls), and a new set of alternate forms for each playable character. Repentance, another expansion for the remake, released on March 31st of 2021.The fifth and final was dubbed "The Forgotten Update" by Nicalis Inc., and you can watch the trailer here. It also received five "Booster Pack" updates throughout 2017 and early 2018, adding even more content to the game, mostly official versions of mods. The expansion not only includes even more items, bosses, and characters, but also features a detailed Monster Compendium, official developer tools and a Lua API specifically intended for modding the game. Afterbirth† (pronounced "Afterbirth Plus"), a slightly smaller expansion for the remake, released on January 3rd of 2017.Some of this new content are ideas suggested by the community this includes items, challenges, and other features. Not only does it come with the usual stuff (such as new items, bosses, and a new character), but it also features Greed Mode and even more alternative areas. Afterbirth, the remake's first expansion, released on October 30th of 2015.The expansion features its own hard mode where almost every enemy and boss receives an Elite Mook variant known as an "Eternal Champion".
ISAAC BATTERY BUDDY UPDATE
Eternal Edition is a free update to the original game, released by Florian Himsl on May 2015.
ISAAC BATTERY BUDDY PLUS
It adds a new category of collectibles called "trinkets," plus new and upgraded items, enemies, bosses, alternate areas, room types, a new character, a new ending and more.
Wrath of the Lamb is the very first expansion, released on May 28th of 2012.
Following it was the smaller Christmas update at the end of 2011, which added one new boss and item. The Halloween update released on Octoand added a new character, demon-related items and bosses, and an extra chapter with a new final boss.
The original game received two free content updates prior to its paid expansion.
Variety is the name of the game here, and the sheer volume of rooms, bosses, items, characters, secrets, challenges and endings ensures that no two runs through the basement will ever be the same. The game utilizes procedural generation to make each playthrough a unique experience, while additional characters themed after important people from Abrahamic myth can radically change how the game plays. The player visits item rooms to acquire powerful upgrades and faces off against a boss on every floor, heading deeper and deeper downwards with each room cleared. Isaac wanders the maze that is the basement and beyond, collecting items and trinkets to slowly amass enough power to survive a confrontation with Mom and eventually greater foes beyond. Gameplay follows Isaac as he descends into the labyrinth underneath his house. Isaac discovers her intentions and manages to escape into the basement, where, still naked, he goes on the run as he fights off nightmares both physical and mental (using his own tears, no less), discovers memories of his own past, and ultimately confronts Mom in an effort to survive. After his fanatical Christian mother begins hearing the voice of God, she removes all of his worldly possessions and strips him naked, confines him to his bedroom, and unhesitatingly accepts a commission to kill him in sacrifice to prove her devotion. The story follows Isaac, a young boy who finds himself in possibly the worst situation imaginable. The Binding of Isaac is a Horror Comedy, Black Comedy, Roguelike Top-Down Shooter made by Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl, released in September 2011.

Hey! Long time no see.
I'm currently working on wrapping up a project that I got really engrossed in over this past month. I figured it'd be fun (read: a great way to procrastinate) to go back, look at how this project evolved over time, and talk about why I made the decisions that I did. Sound like fun?
The project is that I've been slowly accumulating a bunch of designs and arts for custom MTG cards that represent characters from various D&D games that I've been a part of. I intend to get some of these cards professionally printed, and then I'll put together some "half-decks" themed around specific characters. So, you could, for example, grab an Eva half deck and a Kavrin half deck, shuffle em' up, and play a match of magic vs. an Emilio + Dench half deck.
Over the course of, I dunno, a few weeks, I'll post design stories that detail how the designs of some cards have changed over time, one post per character. Before I get into that, though, let's use this post to define some relevant terms. I'm sure that as this goes on I'll think of other things I need to define, and if that happens I'll come back here and update this post with new vocabulary (assuming, of course, tumblr lets me edit posts once they're out there):
In Pie / Out of Pie - This refers to the "color pie"; basically, all five colors of magic are allowed to have certain mechanics (considered "in pie") and are disallowed from having others (considered "out of pie"). This is to incentivize players to strategize around the colors in their decks; if your opponent is playing red, for example, you know they won't be able to deal with enchantments, and if green, for example, was able to have pretty much every effect imaginable, then there wouldn't be any reason to play a color other than green.
Break/Bend - Another term that references the color pie, a "break" signifies that a card does something that its colors should not be able to do, and a "bend" signifies that a card does something that its colors usually wouldn't do, but is still acceptable within the pie.
Commander - A multiplayer format where four people compete in a 1v1v1v1 free-for-all. You don't need to know all the rules, just know that it's pretty different from regular, 1v1 magic.
Constructed vs Limited - Constructed and Limited are both ways to play magic; "Constructed" means that both players put together decks out of cards they already own, whereas "Limited" means that players put together decks out of cards that they just opened from booster packs on the spot. In general decks in limited are lower-powered than decks in constructed. This project is sort of in a middle ground between these two concepts, since I built the decks out of cards that I own, but to achieve a result that feels more like limited.
Flavor - Can't believe I forgot to explain this one, "flavor" describes every aspect of the card that isn't mechanical. Technically, you could design a magic set where every creature was named something procedural like "blue creature #44", but that would be pretty lame, so magic cards come with a lot of extra stuff like art, names, flavor text, etc. that give life to the cards beyond just what they do in the game. A card has "good flavor" if its mechanics match up well with its theming, and has "bad flavor" if they don't. This is especially important in a project like this, where I have to design cards to match characters rather than the other way around.
Bottom Up / Top Down - I can't foresee this one being relevant, but I think it's a pretty cool concept so I want to include it anyway. These terms describe approaches to set/card design; a "bottom-up" design means the design was created by starting with the mechanics and creating a flavor to match, while a "top-down" design means the design was created with a certain aesthetic in mind and the mechanics were designed to match. In Magic, Zendikar is an example of a set that was designed bottom-up. WotC wanted to try a set that focused really heavily on lands, and created an adventure world where the land itself is alive to match that mechanical identity. Innistrad, by contrast, was designed top-down. WotC wanted to create a set themed around horror, so they mechanically centered the set around the graveyard and creatures that can transform into horrifying monsters to match that theming. Every design in my project is top-down.
Cycle - Series of connected cards. The most common kinds of cycles are "horizontal" cycles (five cards, one in each color) and "vertical" cycles (three cards, one at each rarity)

Headcanons of Sukuna being turned into a child for an entire day
A/N: This is my first time doing headcanon, hopefully I do it right. I find the idea of Sukuna, the feared king of curses getting turned into a child hilarious for some reasons. Might be my tired mind which wants a break from studying😅. For this idea's sake, Sukuna has his own body. I leave it to your imagination if he is still a curse but was somehow enrolled into helping sorcerers (highly improbable), or he is born as a sorcerer.
Also, I wish to thank my followers, for liking my content enough to want to stick around. I won't be posting much (University just started but I am already so busy with assignments and such). I will try to write as much as I can but there will be months where I won't be posting lengthy stories. So yeah, sorry for the long ramble, just wanted to let you know how grateful I am. Without futher ado, let's jump right into the arms of Sukuna lol.
Tumblr media
You were sent on a mission of high importance.
It was your first time doing it and you were proud to be the one chosen for such a task.
However, Sukuna was bored and according to him, you were the only interesting person in his eyes (besides Megumi of course) when it comes to hanging out with either Itadori or Nobara or god forbid, Gojo Satoru. Beurk, his own words.
Actually, he was kind of forced to say that since you are dating.
And Sukuna doesn't date boring or weak people.
So, with him in toe, after you made him swear he won't interfere unless necessary, you both headed to the place where the exorcism would take place.
It was a special grade curse. One of which was that the nature of it's jujutsu was unknown since it was only discovered recently.
In hindsight, knowing the elders, the mission could have been a suicide missio meant to get rid of you because you disagree with the system.
And it doesn't help that you are Satoru's student. A well-known thorn in their side despite his immeasurable strength.
Despite that, a mission was a mission. And with Sukuna by your side, you were quite confident of coming out of this alive. Not that you couldn't on your own, but he is like a booster...or a support character. But don't tell him that.
The mission was going smoothly. The curse was not as impressive as the document made it out to be.
Or so you two thought.
When you were ready to go, a beam of light was thrown at you.
Sukuna threw himself in front of you.
You were quite worried. He is your boyfriend for God's sake! Despite him claiming he is the strongest, you were still allowed to fret over him at times! And the curse was already exorcised. So where did the beam come from?!
However, there were more important matters at hand.
Like where did he go?
Why were his clothes lying down like back with a bundle in the middle?! Why was the bundle moving?! Why was it cursing?!
Then...the cutest red eyes emerged from the kimono and stared at you. His eyebrows were furrowed as were per usual.
You had to hold in a squeal because...how could you imagine he would be as adorable as this as a child?!
"Oh my God! Sukuna! You are so cute!"
He grimaces.
"Shut up, woman. Help me out."
Immediately after getting him out from the mountain of clothes, you find out that he is naked.
Quickly averting your eyes, you bunch up his clothes and try your best to protect his modesty.
You returned to the school by teleportation and went to find Ieri-sensei.
She was perplexed but didn't see anything wrong with his body or soul.
"The effects might last for a day or two. Don't worry about it."
So you didn't worry over it. But you had to find him clothes.
So you got off to the city to buy appropriate clothes for a grumpy Sukuna who was clutching at you tightly while glaring at anyone who looked at him for more than two seconds.
It was the first time you entered a baby's clothes shop and you were in awe at the multiple array of choices of clothes and toys they sold here.
You went over to the male isle and with some convincing, managed to buy a tiger onesie for him. And another with the saying "I'm a little adorable cuddly monster"
A man tried to flirt with you there.
To which he glared and declared, "She is my woman, you idiot."
You had to clear up the misunderstanding.
"He is the son of my neighbour, haha. I'm babysitting him."
Still his glare scared off the guy.
You gave Sukuna a disapproving stare.
As punishment, you told him he would have to let you take pictures of him in the onesies.
This got you the scariest glare he could manage and a cute pout.
After your little shopping trip, you guys decided to drop by a cafe for some sweets.
He would have refused if he knew they would meet that annoying blindfolded kinky bastard again.
"AH! (Y/N)-CHAN! I didn't know you and Sukuna had such a cute kid!"
Cue, he tried to poke at Sukuna's cheeks.
..."ITE!!!!"
Satoru held his offending finger which was now a glaring red. Because he was wearing his sunglasses, you could see big fat tears droplets at the corner of his eyes.
You were skeptical because, shouldn't Sukuna have bitten down on the infinity separating him from the world?
"Your kid is as mean as his dad! That's so unfair!"
Sukuna swore angrily while trying to kick the man as best as he could in your arms.
You explained the situation to Satoru who only started cackling as if he was mad.
"That's Sukuna? Hahahahahaha."
Sukuna hopes he dies on the spot.
After that humiliating meeting, you head back to your dorm.
The only good thing that came out of this was that he could stay with you.
After dressing him up in these adorable onesies, a photoshoot was a must.
He glared at you during all this.
Midway through, he fell asleep.
You decided to tuck him in safely in case he rolled over.
This was truly a blessing in disguise, you decided before your eyes closed, tired of the excitement of the day.
.
.
.
.
Bonus
You woke up to someone holding you in a death grip.
It was way too warm.
Trying to push the offending furnace away, your eyes suddenly opened.
"Wha-?"
There was a sight that was even more precious than kid Sukuna.
The man was sleeping soundly, soft snores exiting his parted mouth.
Truly, he is the most adorable man in the world...when he wasn't being murderous and mean that is.
One of his eyes cracked open.
"Take a picture, it will last longer."
With a smirk, you did that.

Booster Gold
Content Warnings: N/A
Summary: A brief character history and analysis of Booster Gold, the greatest hero you've never heard of.
Comic Issues: Booster Gold (2007-2011)
Tumblr media
Booster Gold, legal name Michael Jon Carter, is the greatest hero you've never heard of. To a majority of the Justice League, he's not taken very seriously as a hero and it's easy to see why. The man has had more advertising deals than most heroes, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
Booster was born in the 25th century Gotham City. He has a younger twin sister Michelle Carter. His father left his mother when he was young to follow his one true love, gambling. Booster ended up getting a sports scholarship to Gotham University where he played football. When his mother needed rather expensive medical treatment, he began to gamble on his own games. He got caught and was forced to quit. He ended up working in a museum where he ended up stealing the items for his Booster Gold costume. He traveled back in time to the 21st century to reinvent himself as a superhero, determined to become a member of the greatest Justice League of all time.
He ended up joining Justice League International, a branch of the Justice League after hiring the Royal Flush gang to make an impressive interview. While he served as a member of the JLI, he met Ted Kord, the second Blue Beetle, his best friend. While the two pulled several pranks on the rest of the league, they both knew how to be serious. A post about Ted and Booster to come later.
Booster has a rather public persona as either a Jackass or an idiot depending on how good his reputation is starting to look and how he needs to knock it back. The reason for this is because Booster has the very important job of protecting the time stream, and unfortunately, history has decided that he was an idiot. The few people who happen to know better are Rani, Rip, Michelle, Ted, Bruce, and Dick.
A few things astute readers have already noticed, I haven't referred to Booster as Michael or Mikey. While a handful of people have called him that- his adopted daughter Rani and his sister. Very few people tend to call Booster by his first name whether he's in or out of costume. The few exceptions are for when he's getting lectured. Booster was actually a nickname he got when he was still playing football, when he had initially introduced himself, he meant to call himself "Gold Star" but screwed up, leading to him being "Booster Gold" instead. When Michelle comes back to the past with him, she takes on the name "Goldstar" instead.
Tumblr media
Booster has attempted to go back to change solid time several times, this has lead to him being held prisoner by the Joker and tortured when he tried to prevent the Joker from shooting Barbara Gordon. Bruce ended up getting the pictures from that night which lead to him respecting Booster for what he does. He also tried to save Ted Kord which lead to a timeline where O.M.A.C.s and Maxwell Lord took over the world. He uses his cover as a 'fool' to protect his identity, and he succeeds. History only remembers him as a fool, but his attempts also earn him the respect of Dick Grayson as well as Bruce Wayne.
The first incident was a lesson from Rip Hunter, a time master who uses an alias to obfuscate his timeline who just so happens to be Booster's son. The second incident was a result of Booster getting manipulated by the Time Stealers because he wanted to believe Ted could be saved so badly.
Booster has often been at odds with his son when it comes to how the time line could best be protected, but an older Booster understands exactly why things had to happen the way they did. It's not a situation Rip enjoys finding himself in, but in order to preserve the time line, his father can't know, at least not at the ages that Rip has seen him so far.
In spite of Booster's externally cheerful disposition, he hides a lot of grief and anger, likely compounded by the fact that he can't really talk about it with anyone. Protecting the time line means he's had to ensure that Coast City is destroyed or that Ted Kord dies, or that 30th century Daxam is destroyed by Darkseid. All of those things have to happen, and it takes a toll on him, even if he tries not to show it.
Booster gets a lot of flack from all sorts of heroes for being an idiot, an imagine he has carefully crafted. But I think for right now, it's worth acknowledging that he is the greatest hero most heroes in the DC universe would never hear of.
