what are your tips and advice when shopping for a phone? all these new models are shite and I hate the push of google files and google photos replacing generic built-in apps

i used the site gsmarena a lot! they document every phone ever, and have a space to filter through phones and also you can compare up to three phones to see what specs are better.

for me personally i used the phone search and filtered by: good enough camera (64mp and above), released after 2020, 6gb+ ram, and with a headphone jack. i couldve gotten a better phone if i let the headphone jack go but no ❤️ <- musichead

i've heard samsung and oneplus are good, and motorollas as well but they seem to have bad cameras. (google pixels are good as well but im sure you wouldnt want one !!) i also looked up '[phone i want] camera test' on youtube to see if they sucked LOL.

though, i dont know too much about the apps side of things! i have a samsung tablet (and now a samsung phone) and fortunately you dont need google for it + it has a gallery app thats separate from google photos/files!

hope you find a good phone soon!! 🫡 cause it fr took me a solid 10 hrs of research what the hell all these androids were just to find a suitable one 😭
