my voice does not need to be added to the conversation but what i will say is that both ateez and kq as a company have continually asked that fans use the emails they've provided as well as places like fancafe/bstage and fancalls/fansigns to inform them when there are times where they fuck up so there's no issue in taking advantage of those avenues to bring up the very blatant issue. and while the video has been privated and removed from public view, that's not nearly enough of a proper response or action taken to address the issue. san and yunho need to give both written and verbal apologies to those they hurt. they're at a point in their careers as well as their lives at their grown ages where they should be aware of things like this without a shadow of a doubt and if they are going to be part of a group who is so internationally focused and so loud about being inclusive towards their fans, then this shit should not happen at any point in time ever. they do know better and they need to act like it.

No one is asking for the tour to be stopped, by formal apology we literally just mean that they acknowledge the situation and just say sorry. It can literally be a post on bstage. That's it. We're not asking them to cry or go live or something big. They don't need to go back to sk to do that. They can have an online meeting with their pr team. There are so many ways this can be done if they want it to be done. And other companies not acknowledging such situations doesn't mean shit to us. Like the other anon said, Hongjoong asked us to tell them when they are wrong. Which means that technically he meant that they would not let such situations be swept under the rug, is it really too much to expect an apology from the members? Wouldn't you want one if it was your identity that was being mocked, even if unknowingly? It's literally as simple as saying sorry. That is it. The fact that the kpop industry expects idols to apologise for dating and being happy but not for hurting people is so hilarious to me.

ngl it SEEMS like people are asking for the tour and ateez's whole schedule to be halted to deal with this issue. some even said smth along the line of ateez should be going back to sk to deal with the issue in the middle of their taiwan schedules. I so totally get people wanting ateez to take responsibilities esp san or yunsan, but damn those demands are ridiculous. their schedules is jam packed already, they're not gonna be getting rest and you somehow want to squeeze in a meeting with the pr team. what do you want them to sacrifice ? sleep ? meals ? this is literally kq prioritizing, considering the situation and deciding which can be handled by the company so that the boys can still function normally. you and i will never know how hard it is to tour around the world and perform for HOURS whilst still having to deal with things like maintaining physique, diet, and schedule briefing. like oh my god this is such a logical issue and it's gonna sound very unimportant or miniscule but it's such an important thing to take note, with kq being the ones releasing the statement, they're ensuring that the idols won't have more mental burden that could affect their mental health. you know what guilt can do to people right ? okay so imagine being dead tired and then having to release a personal apology that exposes your vulnerable side and wearing your mistake on your fucking forehead whilst still having to give it your best for the next 6 months. I'm currently a travelling EO and last week i had to deal with an issue in my event and even though my parents owned the event, the mental burden and absolute shame i felt even after the issue was resolved and the event ended weighed so heavily that for days after, i lost sleep even in my zombified state thinking of ways i could've handled the situation or things i could've done to prevent the situation from happening. And it wasn't even a mistake i did. so i can't even begin to imagine what san is going through. Honestly? I believe he want to put out his own statement but ofc circumstances that you and i can't even begin to understand prevents him, circumstances that we can't start to imagine.

yesterday i saw this clip of trevor noah talking about how fans seem to be comfortable with celebrities and what his brother said that really stuck out. us fans have been managing and establishing a relationship with celebrities but that relationship is one sided, that's why we tend to get easily entitled and i see that in the way you said "hongjoong asked us to tell them". while we made personal relations with them, they didn't do it with us, they don't know us personally but they're still treating us as best as they could. I'm not saying that "oh kq did something, just be happy with it" i'm saying acknowledge that kq took this step, they so totally did not seeep things under the rug as seen from previpus "controversies" and how they seem to not be reccurring with the boys. honest to god, i personally feel like they don't owe ANYONE the absolute perfect knowledge of every single culture nor do they owe anyone personal apologies because who among us know EVERYTHING ???? if we can't even be held accountable for the same thing, why do we expect it from them ? bc they're "global idols" ?? no, they're global-scaled kpop idols, they're still people who are learning new things.

you can't expect me to answer how i would feel if my culture is mocked bc i won't know until it happen and by god i hope it doesn't and it won't. another anon mentioned that this is such a westernized issue being pushed to eastern context and yeah i get it. like the anger and the disappointment is not just from this one incident with ateez but it's an accumulation of recurring incidents by other unrelated parties that exploded bc this "hits close to home" (for a lack of better words).

and no, the kpop industry does not expect idols to apologize for dating, some fans does. no one in the kpop industry is penalizing romantic relationship. idk how you actually mean it, but you're so wrong for that. and dating and having a slip up can't be compared bc dating is very much intentional and what san did was a mistake that if you see the video did not mean as mockery on his part.

!!!!!!!!!! Did you see SanHwa doing the Hard and Bouncy challenges with Minho? The way I lost my absolute shit. I never ever expected my two favorite groups from 2 gens apart to even share the same camera space, let alone do any sort of dance together, especially my top two biases 🥲 - I was not okay yesterday and my friends took every chance to remind me that it really happened - I was probably more excited about it than the damn members 🤣

Also YES - cast Yunho as prime suspect who makes everyone else uncomfortable and everyone thinks did it because he has all the motive and capability, but not the actual killer; that should be Yeosang, who everyone brushed off as sweet and in the wrong place at the wrong time, incapable of a murder so brutal. Wooyoung should be the comic relief rookie investigator that accidentally destroys/misplaces some piece of evidence that is vital to realizing it's Yeo 😂

Also yes I looked up the fancall after you mentioned it! (I completely forgot to respond until today bc my brain is made of swiss cheese, but still). I cried - holy shit, San was so gentle and knew exactly what to say. He didn't seem confused or weirded out or anything, just totally open and supportive and loving, and wanted to make the fan feel welcome and supported in the fandom and I just 🥲

This particular fan call really did mean something. Speaking personally and seriously for a moment, as a transmasc kpop fan, I do often feel alienated in the fandom. Not only because I worry about fans being uncomfortable (I won't go stealth for that reason, online, because I feel like that distinction between cis and trans is vital when historically cismen have been awful in fandom spaces like this) - but also because in my experience kpop boy groups themselves just kind of expect their fans to all be girls/women. (Younger girls/women but that's a different topic).

Not only are most songs gender coded for that (which most of Ateez don't seem to be, and let me tell you that is a huge relief), but there are times that the confusion or surprise when a member meets a male fan is visible and that just :/ is super upsetting in a way, because I worry they're weirded or grossed out, etc - esp given the historical cultural discrimination against the queer community - it's just hard to really know.

People can talk about supportive idols across the board until they're blue in the face - it's really easy to support in theory, donate to charities, say equal rights, etc - when you're not face with it.

So something like this - a one-on-one conversation that with someone openly of that community, that as far as San knew wouldn't be published on a public platform, etc - having him not even hesitate to be comforting and supportive - that really touched me. And to have him try so hard to get his support and love across in a language that wasn't his own, it just... Really really solidified how deeply, inherently good he is. (And made me 100% sure this was the group that will be my ult for the foreseeable future).

That live was absolutely horrifying, thank you. Seonghwa really needs to invest in a lock for his door when he does lives 🤣 or a spray bottle - just start spraying him like a misbehaving kitten when he creeps into lives like this 🤣🤣🤣

Also, I am so sad promotions are officially over 😭 - It's been a very very long time since I have followed a group's promotions all the way through to the end without getting absolutely sick of the same song performance 😭 - I usually give up after about week 1, but I had zero problem this time around and wish they had another week 🥲
