TODAY ya got a fistful of sketches. Again.

Old drawings from 2 months ago, (Carmen having an existential crisis and being a trash goblin) sprinkled in with new sketches. Trying my hand at his design again. I adjusted his smile and laugh lines to match up better.

2nd to last sketch is of a concept I’m playing around called “The Crown of Twigs.” He becomes an ent-like creature after absorbing the braided twig crown Alma made for them.

Carmen, Carmen. You wonderful doppelganger.

Still playing around with the new crunchy brush by sketching Carmen and Alma.

Sketch 1: Alma and Carmen just chatting as they walk around the neighborhood. I imagine Alma likes to sit on their shoulders to get a better view while they chat. Plus it doesn’t bother Carmen due to their high walking endurance.

Sketch 2: Carmen has no idea of his physical strength. Which is why he doesn’t use doors (He breaks the handle or frame). Windows work much better for them. *Insert Ralph crashing through the window meme*

A late 90s, early 2000s teen that also no-clipped. Unofficially adopted by Red, Millie, and Bartholomew.

They do whatever they want, loves to explore and met Red’s doppelganger near some thickets by accident, gave him an existential crisis and now he’s their bestie.

Carries their cousin’s Walkman. (Forgot to give it back whoops)

Grew out their hair to braid.

Very tired this week, but got some oopy spoopy sketches of Carmen being a little shit.

Sketch 1: I image that because of his enlarged eyes, Carmen has a Tapetum Lucidum. Though I don’t know whether to go with bright white deer eyes or that strange red-ish pink in humans/rabbits.

Sketch 2: Just because he’s a horrifying anxiety-inducing entity, doesn’t mean he can’t be polite.

Sketches 3 & 4: Pencil sketches of Carmen distorting their face. Sometimes skin just doesn’t right, but that’s ok. They’re doing their ✨best✨.

Our lovely, lovely doppelganger got themselves a reference sheet. I have some facts and details listed down below the cut (it’s long) if you’d like to know more about Carmen.

Details

Is referred to by the nickname Alma gives them; Carmen.

Has the ability to subtly shift their appearance to match the "copy" they are going to destroy, then take place of.

Because of its enlarged eyes, they take in a lot of information about people's behaviors. This allows them to accurately mimic such behaviors, this also means they can tell when someone is lying to them.

Their main goal is to take the place of their "copy", so all their energy is reserved for getting through obstacles, such as breaking into enclosed spaces or neutralizing other entities in it's way. In the beginning, they start off with no information but over time accumulate and use it to become clever and deceive the people around them. For the case of this doppelganger, their "Copy" is already within this realm, But a distortion occurred in the transition between this reality and Doppelganger's Heaven (Earth) causing Carmen to not match up exactly with its "Copy"; Red.

Incredibly quiet when walking. When they talk, their voice is reversed so they inhale air while they talk. Their speech is also comprised of conversations they have analyzed.

The sound of teeth grinding can be heard from them when they are waiting or pacing in circles. This is their form of being bored or impatient.

Carmen can make other facial expressions, but it's strained and forced.

Carmen, on occasion, voices his own thoughts and feelings. Which is something Doppelgangers are not suppose to do. Carmen will voice that, "My mind feels empty", "My hands are not their own.", or "I'm not supposed to have a name." In most cases, he keeps these to himself. But bottling it up causes him to grind his teeth or stand in the corner.
