Background/History

Lucia was born in Ariccia, Italy to Bianca and Simon, she is the second oldest. She spent much of her life in Italy until three of her grandparents were killed by death eaters and then her family moved to Britain hence her heavy accent

Lucia’s father taught her everything she knows about fighting which led to her physique and fueled her laser focused aim of protecting her family which is why she was so distraught when Cirilo went missing. For months she was basically inconsolable

This changed when Lucia realized she can try get Cirilo back by learning everything he did in his investigations of the cursed vaults when she starts Hogwarts.

In her second year, she met Cassandra Cresswood when she decided to search the library on her own for information on the Vaults

She took Cassie to the Celestial Ball but much to Cassie’s disappointment as friends (Lucia didn’t want to jeopardize their friendship despite her having a crush on Cassie)

But later in the year, Cassie got fed up with Lucia and full out asked her out though they tried to keep it secretive

Year 5 was bittersweet for Lucia, on one hand she got her brother back and he decided to not abandon her but on the other hand Rakepick escaped after torturing Merula.

During her fifth year, Lucia also forged her magic gauntlets at The Tower of The Regal Sunset Sea which is also her family’s ancestral home. Her gauntlets increase her speed and strength

Time for a lot of canon divergence Lucia gave up on the cursed vault hunt, leaving it to Cirilo and everyone else but just in case she hired the Dark Sun Assassins, which is led by her extended family, to kill Rakepick just in case to calm her worries

In her sixth year, she very reluctantly came along with Ben and Merula to investigate rumours of an R meeting in the forbidden forest, this is where Rakepick tried to kill Ben and when Rowan tried to get in the way of Rakepick’s killing curse. Lucia pulled Rowan out of the way just in time and anger welled up inside her due to her remembering her helplessness when her grandparents died causing her to use the full power of her gauntlets ending up with Rakepick’s left arm being obliterated.

After this is when she got her tattoo, it represents Cassie

It is also in her sixth year that her relationship with Cassie is found out by the school when they are caught kissing before a quidditch match

In the final battle of the cursed Vaults when all of R tried to get the treasure of the final battle, Lucia joined in the battle and was the one who ended up killing Rakepick

After she graduates, she briefly becomes a wand maker and magizoologist before finally becoming a baker with Cassie

Three years after she graduates, she and Cassie get married

Four years after she graduates, she has her first kids, Alissa and Selene though they are carried by Cassie

When Voldemort returned she was openly defiant of him and joined the Order of the Phoenix. She also sheltered Muggleborns where she could and commonly was found dueling Death Eaters sent after her and her family alongside Cassie

She had Aurea a year before the battle of Hogwarts, this time she was the one who was pregnant

She was absent from the Battle of Hogwarts as she stayed behind to protect her family from any would be attackers while Cassie went to fight in the battle which she survived much to Lucia’s relief and the two were able to live their lives in peace

Personality

Lucia most of the time is very happy, always smiling in some way but this hides her extremely protective side for her loved ones and the anger that follows when her loved ones are hurt. She will never give up on anyone and will always do her best to help them.

However if anyone she cares about is hurt and she can’t get revenge either because the perpetrator is gone or whoever or whatever did it did so out of fear, she will be very distraught and blame herself even if she quite literally couldn’t have done anything and will shut herself away for days but if the perpetrator is not gone then she will be merciless and will kill them if they hurt her loved ones badly enough(Before Year 5, she would not readily kill).

She for the most part cannot handle people who are seemingly grumpy all the time and will intentionally avoid people like that.

She is very empathetic and tries to do her best to help her friends out when they are in bad places but she fails to take the same advice and apply it to herself and will fall into dark places easily if the signs aren’t noticed quick enough.

She is very resistant to sleeping potions and charms to such an extent that by the time she’s in year 7 she is basically immune and requires extremely potent versions used on her for it to take proper effect

All her scars came from a magical accident when a spell she was trying to create backfired injuring her and Cassie

She is very proud of her heritage and will fight people if they insult it in her presence

She has Norse ancestors on her father’s side of the family though most of the traditions and practices from them have been lost in time

She is fluent in Italian, English and Scottish Gaelic, the latter of which she learned from Cassie

She for most of her life had a huge fear of heights which came from her fall, she overcame it with the help of her friends when she decided to watch Cassie’s quidditch matches

She is very physically affectionate and will hug all her friends without a thought and will always make it known that she cares about them

When she first started Hogwarts her italian accent was very strong but over time it began to fade and once she graduates and moves in with Cassie, she starts unwittingly adopting a slight scottish accent which is tinged with her remaining italian accent

She is a very good singer, she taught herself and was naturally good from the onset. She knows many italian songs and lullabies

She is a black belt in Karate and despite her much less chaotic life after Hogwarts and the Second Wizarding War she maintains her strong AF physique

Hannah Bernard: Hi, I’m Hannah Bernard. You’re watching Market One Minute and I’m here today with Mark Binns of Netcoins. So, Mark, let’s start at the beginning. Tell us how Netcoins began and tell us exactly what it is.

Mark Binns: Yeah, Netcoins started here in the Vancouver area by two brothers about two years ago — Michael and Dominic Vogel — and what they saw was an opportunity in the market to help the average consumer buy or sell cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency is becoming more and more popular, especially over the last number of months. It’s in the news all the time, but in the earlier days, even as early as middle of 2017, it was very difficult for someone to buy. They would go on-line. They might have to wire money, they’d have to upload an ID and then they might be only able to buy say $100 at once.

So, what they did is they built a software product called Netcoins and it is designed to help retailers sell cryptocurrency. So, they can put this software into a convenience store, like a 7-Eleven, or a Gateway Newstands, or even like an electronic store, or a beauty store, anyone with a checkout. And a consumer can walk in, walk up and say “hey I’d like to buy $500 of Bitcoin” and that retailer using the Netcoins software can sell it to them right there on the spot and all they need is an email address.

They don’t need to understand anything more about cryptocurrency. They don’t need to have a digital wallet — our software does everything for them. Emails them the cryptocurrency and they walk out of the store and in two minutes it’s done.

Hannah Bernard: They’re making it very easy.

Mark Binns: We’re making it very simple for the mass consumer to be part of the cryptocurrency economy.

Hannah Bernard: And how is Netcoins evolving. In what other markets are you tackling right now?

Mark Binns: Yeah, that’s a great question. So, we started out as a retail business as we’ve talked about. We’ve grown to about 21,000 different locations across Canada, Europe, Australia that you can walk into a retail store. But then we had consumers coming to us and investors coming to us saying, “I want to buy $100,000 worth of bitcoin or I want to buy $500,000 worth of bitcoin,” and you know bigger purchase, and you couldn’t do that in a convenience store. So, we opened up a private brokerage and we call it an over the counter business OTC brokerage and we’re enabling now these high net worth individuals, investors, even crypto hedge fund managers, crypto miners, to come to us direct and transact. Buy and sell both bitcoin and all sorts of other cryptocurrency’s as well. So that’s a new market that’s been becoming very successful for us.

And then finally we’re opening up a dealer brokerage business where we help the traditional brokerage houses in Canada, and soon abroad, sell cryptocurrency to their customers. So, this is the same place you’d go buy your GE stock, your Apple stock — we’re enabling them to sell cryptocurrency to their customers using our software on the backend. So, we’re working with them and we’re working with the regulators to get that set up, and we’re hoping to open that market later this year.

Hannah Bernard: Very exciting. How are you effected by the volatility in crypto prices which we’re seeing lately?

Mark Binns: Yeah, we actually really much enjoy the volatility in crypto pricing because when crypto is going up or down quickly that means people are buying or selling. And the way we make money is as a brokerage is we get a transactional fee on every trade. So, the more trades that happen the money we make and the more revenue we generate. So, we’ve seen some big days up and down in the past couple of months. Where you know if bitcoin drops $800 in a day — I know people never like to see things go down — but Netcoins has great days on those days. So, it’s really a benefit to us if anything as long as people keep trading.

Hannah Bernard: And are you going to add more coins to the platform and if so why is that important?

Mark Binns: Yeah, we’ve already started adding more coins. There’s more than 1,800 cryptocurrencies today and they are being created almost on a daily basis. They’re called alt coins usually, the more alternative coins. Other than the big five sort of major coins. And these coins need exposure and they need to be in markets so people can buy and sell them. So, we’ll list them and make them available on our platform. They’ll pay us usually for a listing fee, which is great, and then when people buy and sell those coins on our platform, we also make transactional fees on it. As we have more coins, we become more of a one-stop shopping place for a wider group of crypto investors. So, there’re multiple benefits and we rolled out our first alternative coin last week called Pareto and it’s been a great success, and we’re looking to add many more alt coins as we go forward here.

Hannah Bernard: It sounds like you’re positioned very nicely.

Mark Binns: We are, we’re in a good place in the market.

Hannah Bernard: So if we’re investors what are some catalysts that they can look forward to coming from the Netcoins stock?

Mark Binns: Yeah, there’s a couple of big catalyst. The first one would be this OTC desk that is really growing, and announcements tied to crypto miners, so we’re really becoming a great liquidity partner to help crypto miners sell the coins that they generate and they mine on a daily and weekly basis because we can do it very quickly — pay them out the same day and make it a very smooth process for them. So, this will really ramp up our volumes, our transactional volumes, these are large institutions that we’re dealing with. As we announce these deals that will be a great catalyst for the Netcoins company and the stock. And also, our crypto basically dealer/trader businesses I talked about with the traditional brokerage houses, as we launch that, that is a game changer for the whole industry and for us. There’s nowhere you can go traditional brokerage and buy cryptocurrency. Right now, you’ve got to go to a crypto exchange. But as soon as the average Joe can call up his trader and say “I want $500 worth of coin X,” that’s a big deal. That’s going to open up the market and expand the volumes and be good for the whole crypto market overall and especially us, obviously.

Hannah Bernard: That sounds like a great investment opportunity. Thank for being with us Mark.

You are unlike any other of your kind. You are from a respectable pure-blooded line but your parents always stayed neutral in politics so they never filled your head with such things as purity. What mattered to them was that you grow up to be the heir they needed — one that would take over the family business, marry well, and have children. But what they wanted wasn’t what you wanted. You wanted to work for what you had, you wanted to protect others, and preserve justice. You wanted to stand on the right side of history and fight for those who couldn’t fight for themselves. You wanted to have an opinion, and Merlin, is it going to take you far.

I. Kingsley grew up surrounded by kindness. It’s easy to see why. Born the eldest son of the Shacklebolts, things aligned for him in a way they rarely do for anyone else. Known for the excellent lawyers who bear its name, the Shacklebolt Stock Exchange (informally termed), and its warmth with friends and loved ones, the Shacklebolts carved a space for themselves among the elite around two hundred years ago — and Kingsley fit in perfectly. Both his parents were busy with the family business, but they always made time for their son and for each other. Kingsley remembers spending his childhood flitting between Lagos, Berlin, Paris, or Porto-Novo, never staying in one place for too long or speaking the same language for more than one year. He remembers, too, his father’s bedtime stories and his mother’s lullabies. Between chasing the latest market craze, the Shacklebolts made family meals an unbreakable tradition, went hiking or took that strange, metal, muggle flying contraption, and never allowed Kingsley to doubt that he was loved.

Still, Kingsley’s early childhood was a lonely one. The world of his parents was exciting, and the people they introduced him to always spared a moment for his countless questions, but spending time all over the world prevented Kingsley from putting down roots. Though he made friends in one city, it would only be a matter of time before he’d have to leave them behind. Kingsley kept in touch with a number of his favorite people, but owls were poor substitutes for the excitement of a shared adventure, and floo calls were alright, but unreliable. Floo travel was even worse — the twin problems of timezones and conflicting schedules made them it infrequent. So, when Winfred was born, Kingsley had all the time and sympathy in the world to dedicate to becoming the best big brother he could be. A familiar instinct seized his eight year old mind: that Winfred was the most wonderful thing in the world. That instinct was love, as love can only be when one is willing to be responsible for another. A year later, that instinct grew to include Meredith, the youngest of the family.

Following Meredith’s birth, the Shacklebolts settled in 13.5 St. George’s Drive, Pimlico, in a neighborhood close enough to London to maintain their financial ties, but removed enough from the hubbub of a city for a new phase in their lives to begin. Kingley’s father, Bernard, retired from his legal practice and stayed at home with the children while his wife travelled. With his London pen-pals and siblings all in the same area, Kingsley became more confident in himself, and it showed. His old friends and his siblings looked to him as their leader. He fit the role well, leading their excursions through Bessborough Gardens or Battersea Park, a twin stroller with Meredith and Winfred safely buckled inside. Kingsley isn’t the first to speak now, nor was he then. Instead, he fit the role of a leader of ideas — always suggesting new games or neighborhoods to explore.

It’s only later, as a teenager, that he realized that he had an unusual amount of freedom during those years, between the ages of eight and eleven. He had the same standard set of lessons that he later learned most purebloods had had, but aside from that, he was given free reign over where to go, and more importantly, who to be. Moreover, his parents had trusted him to keep Winfred and Meredith safe.

II. Kingsley grows up surrounded by dreams. They are his parents’ dreams: the dreams of two visionaries who fell in love, who will always see poverty as a failure of the government rather than a failure of the people, and who lobby for laws to improve the system and donate to charities when the laws refuse to budge. Bernard and Marie, Kingsley’s mother, worked to create opportunities for young people to gain internships and experience at the stock exchange. They donated money to the Hogwarts’s Orphan Fund. They donated money abroad, too, in cities where students found it hard to access faraway wizarding schools. Both Bernard and Marie still donate their time to volunteering wherever they can. They dreamed, too, of peace and acceptance for muggleborns and muggles. They dreamed of coexistence and magical and muggle inventions mixing together in one brilliant burst of new innovation to finally banish social injustice, disease, and famine for good.

But Bernard’s and Marie’s dreams are patient dreams. Instinctively, they knew that it was too soon for the world to change so dramatically. So rather than taking on the roles of trailblazers, the Shacklebolts remained diplomatic even as tensions between the pureblood elite and the rest of Wizarding Britain began to increase. Of course, they attended their fundraisers and continued their humanitarian work (particularly Marie), but they did so at no personal cost to themselves. The family business continued to boom, Marie continued to travel, and Bernard received calls at 13.5 St. George’s Drive from a cautiously assembled list of pedigrees. The Shacklebolts did what they did best: dreaming of a new times in secret and positioning themselves at an acceptable distance from the other families of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.

Eventually, Kingsley, too, learned to dream. He dreamt of Hogwarts and its innumerable towers. He dreamt of being sorted into Ravenclaw like his father. When his letters from Beauxbatons and Hogwarts arrived, he chose Hogwarts. He learned, soon, that all too often, dreams are fragile, soap-bubble creatures that can’t bear even sunlight. In school, he’s sorted into Slytherin, like his mother. Of course, Kingsley made friends and enjoys talking with his new housemates, but he always felt a strange disconnect from most of the people he meets. Kingsley had never thought of himself as ambitious or cunning. His family, while prestigious, had never mingled much with the rest of the British elite. He found, too, that he believed in fundamentally different things than certain circles within Slytherin. As a result, he fell back on hold habits. Kingsley has always found it easier to connect with younger people. The mentor role fit him like a glove. He talked to his younger housemates and pointed them to the kitchens when the upperclassmen had the backs turned. He whispered with them with well-hidden amusement about who was the most awful Slytherin prefect, and who was the most lenient professor. He taught scores of first-years the history that Professor Binns did not cover. In his fifth year, Kingsley was made a prefect, and found that his new duties were really no different from anything he already did.

Kingsley also learned to dream of change, and of making it. Seeing discrimination and hatred first-hand stayed with him. It wasn’t just the muggleborns, the magical creatures, the muggles, or the squibs. It was also well-hidden stigmas of disease and parseltongues. It was the incredulity with which he was sometimes met -- a British and Nigerian pureblood who associated with everyone equally. Unwittingly, Kingsley had stumbled on the sickroom of society: prejudice, that silent strangler of dreams. And in his peers, he saw the beginning and end of an interminable conflict -- the beginnings of war.

III. It’s not to say, of course, that Kingsley took it all in stride. Really, he grows up toeing the line between caution and bravery; between action and inaction. He has his acts of defiance -- teaching his siblings how to pick locks, or how to raise the colony of pygmy puffs they discovered in the woods. He’s a strict mentor with his trainees, but every so often, he sits with them at the Leaky Cauldron to knock back a shot (or two) of firewhiskey. And, ever since his graduation, Kingsley has worn traditional Yoruba robes as a form of protest against who and what a society pureblood should be. Every so often, he tells Frank more about auror intel than he ought to.

But his most important act of courage to date is telling his parents that he simply cannot sit back and do nothing as rumors fly about Voldemort. He tells them to wait for a successor to the Lagos Wizarding Stock Exchange, and to move Meredith and Winfred overseas -- anywhere, really, to France or to Lagos or New York. (They decide on France). He tells them that Winfred has a clever mind, a mind for numbers -- and is much more suited for the position of heir than Kingsley himself. He tells them that he’ll be an auror and promises a thousand times that he won’t be reckless, and that he won’t get hurt. They haven’t taken it well, and it’s a conversation that has continued to today. With each reiterance, Kingsley wonders how long he can promise the same things. After all, he believes in law and order -- but his parents have never taught him what to do when the law fails.
