Can we all collectively start to view parents who post online about the "fuck-ups" their child did as what it is - abusive? I genuinely do not care about the "reason" somebody has for posting their child on the internet, if it can be "solved" in the public court of shame and humiliation, it can be solved in a home that should love them.
Public humiliation is not an appropriate response to a child being a child. If your first line of defense is airing out your dirty laundry to millions of strangers, you are at best not mature enough to be a parent, and at worst, you are completely abusive and should not be a parent, and both options are pretty grim.

i'm sure disney doesn't want to license any potc merch in the year of our lord and savior 2023, but do they know how much chumps like me would pay to have the dead man's chest/at world's end soundtracks on vinyl. do they know. do they know how much capital i would be willing to put up to hear those soundtracks in slightly worse and scratchy quality on my shitty little $80 record player. have they considered that i have disposable income. do they know

I'm a menace because my mom told me about the six degrees or less theory so here are some fun flexes that I have mostly because my parents were in the comedy / theatre industry (also most of these are becuase of Bob Martin so thank you for that)👍👍
- 1 degree away from Trey parker!!!! (my mom's friend who met me as a infant worked as a waiter and she served Trey parker and on the bill he drew cartman saying "get me a goddamn drink [name])
- 1 or 2 degrees away from Andrew rannells!!!! (one of our close family friends is Bob Martin and he wrote the book for the prom and Andrew rannells was in the prom movie!!!)
-2 degrees away from mark shaiman!! (my mom is Facebook mutuals with him lmaooo)
-3 degrees away from christan borle!!!! (My mom is Facebook mutuals with Mark shaiman and he worked on some like it hot the musical and smash and christan borle plays main characters in both those things!!!) (And also my aunt saw legally blonde with him in it and she got her playbill signed by him and she gave it to me
-Gonna be 1 degree away from Steven!!! Spielberg💪 (Bob martin is co writing the book for the smash musical and Steven Spielberg is producing it!!)
-sadly 1 or 2 degrees away from James cordon🤢🤢 (he was in the prom movie😭😭)
- 1 degree from j Harrison ghee!!! ( I got my some like it hot playbill signed by him)
I'm sorry if this makes me seem self centered or something like that I just think this is cool :D

Random Bob’s Burgers thoughts #4
Tina Belcher would either be the creator of hatsune miku binder Thomas Jefferson, or she would see miku binder thomas jefferson as a christmas carol style wakeup call and change her life forever.  there is no inbetween.

How do you see Gortash as queer coded?
Oh, it would be my genuine delight to explain.
Alright, so I have several lines of reasoning, so I’ll start with the low-hanging fruit first.
Gortash’s obsession with his appearance
Okay, so we all know about Gortash’s eccentricities when it comes to the way he looks.  He wears an ostentatious villain coat, bedecked with golden bits and bobs, matching pants, and a matching shirt (that he wears provocatively low and can’t seem to ever lace properly).  He also clearly styles his hair, which given its length, takes a non-significant amount of time each morning.
Now.  Am I saying these things on their own make him queer?  No, of course not.  The assumption that gay men take more care with their appearance is a stereotype, though I would argue that there is a subset of people for which this is true.  However, stereotypes also form the context for which we interpret characters and situations, and that social context is very real (even in cases when a stereotype is not), which is why I don’t discount these details either.
Additionally, when it comes to the Netherstone, Gortash could have easily stuck it in the middle of a suit of armor like Ketheric and called it a day.  But as a politician (and someone who likely doesn’t see a lot of combat), I get that a suit of armor wouldn’t be his first choice.  Nonetheless, the option he goes with (and presumably takes the time and effort to craft and construct himself) is the pair of gauntlets, which are essentially ornate jewelry.  Jewelry that’s functional and dangerous, yes - but also needlessly beautiful.  And he really only needed one of them, but - again - his attention to detail with appearances drove him to build a matching set to become part of his Signature Look.
Cool.  So let’s move on to:
Gortash’s political career
Alright, so I like to view Faerun as a fairly equitable place in terms of gender distribution in positions of power (at least compared to reality).  From what I can find on forgotten realms sources, it seems like the Council of Four was composed of 2 men and 2 women (at least until Stelmane is murdered); therefore, I think it’s not a stretch to assume that power is pretty evenly divided.  Great - love that for Baldur’s Gate.  Which it was true out here as well.
Even still, that means that 50% of the high-ranking government officials and patriars that Gortash is charming and manipulating as part of his rise to power are men.  As a devout follower of the God of Tyranny, I find it hard to believe that he would just pass up on the opportunity to use sex as a form of manipulation with men, when we have canon evidence that he uses this tactic to gain power with women (hello Lady Jannath).  Why would he - someone who views ascending in power as a holy mission - suddenly be squeamish when it comes to seducing (both literally and metaphorically) the other 50% of his targets?
Also, like I mentioned earlier, although Faerun may be a veritable gender utopia, the social contexts that influence us in reality don’t suddenly go away when we boot up bg3.  The writers of the game as well as the consumers - us - are very much bound by the social contexts within which we operate, meaning that certain character traits can be queer-coded for us, even if they wouldn’t necessarily look that way to someone who lives in the world of the game (if they suddenly became sentient and engaged in discourse).
What does that mean?  Okay, so we live in a society that is highly patriarchal and run by men (read: politicians as well as all other highly influential positions of power).  Within these circles, men are forced into “compulsory relationships” with other men (because remember, women don’t hold the clout they desire, and therefore don’t matter) in order to exert and obtain power; relationships such as “male friendship, mentorship, admiring identification, bureaucratic subordination, and heterosexual rivalry” (Sedgwick, Epistemology of the Closet) characterize these spaces.  Now, as Sedgwick - one of the mainstays of queer literary theory - explains, men enter into these “male homosocial” relationships because they must if they wish to gain power and ascend the ranks; however, the very necessity of these close, male relationships (to the exclusion of, or in superiority to relationships with women) also puts men in the dangerous social position of making it easy to become too close with other men and therefore jeopardizing their access to the very power they sought.  This is the foundation of her argument about forces that keep men in the proverbial “closet.”
Okay.  So back to Gortash.  Gortash is not driven by fear of stepping over that line - he seems utterly unbothered by professing his connections to whoever he views as influential, regardless of gender (see: default Durge, which I’ll get to later).  He is not scared of stepping beyond this larger, societal “closet” that most men get defensive about in order to protect their relative power.  Sure Faerun is less homophobic than our reality, but again, the coding of these characters doesn’t change drastically based on the in-game setting, because it is ultimately people in our reality who are interpreting and interacting with the game and its characters.
Also, I make a distinction between Gortash being “queer-coded” and not “gay-coded”; if anything, examples from the game would have me characterize Gortash as bisexual - if he even conceives of sex as an identity factor and not just a means of gaining power over someone, which is a big assumption.  I definitely view him as someone who thinks more along the lines of the latter - and wouldn’t it benefit him, in that case, to be an equal-opportunity manipulator?
This is getting long, so I’ll jump to my final point:
Gortash’s devotion to the Dark Urge
Whether you read the past relationship between Gortash and the Dark Urge as sexual/romantic or purely a business dealing, the fact remains that Durge is the one character Gortash views as his equal.  And yes, you can customize Durge’s appearance and gender, etc, but the default origin character is male, so a certain amount of “canon”, I believe, can assume at least the possibility of a male Durge.  Gortash - the Chosen of Bane, who loves nothing more than domineering over others - wants to willingly share his Empire with Durge, once he’s conquered the city; that is not a level of devotion that you could expect Gortash to hold for anyone but his “nearest and dearest.”
And from the letters you can find, it’s apparent that Gortash specifically sought Durge out - tempting him with information about Bhaalist artifacts that had been “stolen” and displayed in a museum in order to form a connection.  This, combined with his desperation to regain Durge as a partner in Act 3 (to the point he’s weirdly forgiving of insult and refusal), offer queer subtext, if not text-text, confirming his particular interest in Durge as a person.  After all, he only “tolerates” Orin, who, despite her own eccentricities, is only trying to accomplish the will of Bhaal, just like Durge presumably was as well.  In fact, most of the characters dismiss Orin as just some “crazy bitch”, which I find hard to believe isn’t rooted, at least partially, in sexism - especially since people forgive Durge very easily for similar crimes.  (I could write my own dissertation about Orin, but I’ll save that for another time).
In conclusion, there is enough queer-coding between Gortash’s appearance, habits, career, known manipulation tactics, and special relationship with the Dark Urge to at least make the case that he isn’t super straight.  Even without the letter in which he wrote his penpal Franc that he loved him for bringing “wet, slithering malice” into the world.

✂️ & 🎓 for ken, rome, & shivvy <3
hiii thank you for asking <33
hc + 🎓 for an education-themed headcanon
ken
i think kendall was always a very good student because he had to be for logan, i don't think that's a controversial take. i think teachers never really liked him because he monopolized class discussions, was not above name-dropping his daddy to the administration, and just generally had a sweaty-forehead vibe of desperation and effort that was sad and unpleasant to look upon
rome
incurably mediocre student, below average in math and science. i've played with the idea that he had teachers who were charmed by him and his class clown antics, but i think there were other teachers who had like a sadistic hatred of him (and not jsut in middle school) in that way adults sometimes do to children and convinces children there must be something deeply wrong with them. i also think there were books that roman skimmed in school that actually left a pretty profound impact on him (or at least the way the teacher talked about them did) like he would never admit it but Austen does something for him...
shivvy
definitely effortlessly a better student than ken. like picks things up faster, probably did really well on the debate team (which begs the question what format of debate did she do all my former speech and debate kids sound off), never visibly struggled in any subject. i dont know if we ever learn what college she went to? like in the prop auction was there a diploma for her? im team shiv4yale to contrast with ken going to harvard, but i could also see her going to brown because that school is probably the world's capital of pretending not to be rich for clout.
hc + ✂️ for a hair-themed headcanon
im going to do these all in one clump because i have similar thoughts about all of them--
all three of them have had breakdown/sudden self-reinvention haircuts (romans bad fash haircut, shivvy's amy dunne bob, ken's monastic buzz) which is sooo--
i think there's a certain asceticism (dare i say eating disorder-coded?) that goes along with haircuts for all three of them-- like cut away the excess, start fresh, be sleeker, be different, be unburdened, be made new. i think shiv in particular would get a haircut as a replacement for some other emotional outburst (ed-related or not) that she would feel is embarrassing. i could see roman wanting short hair for the same reason he likes tight clothes- there's like an agony/ecstasy to being so bare, where you feel clean and defined, but also painfully exposed and naked.

The complexity of "The Incredibles"
Buddy Pine looked up to Mr. incredible as a father figure, and instead of teaching this kid exactly how to help people the right way; as he was inspired to do. He stated outright that the burgeoning Eminem was an inferior person not capable of helping anybody and should just go away.
Bob Par treated him like the poor little red headed step-child he saw him as.
Exactly how to help people, what counts as helping people, and what is the right way in which to help others is the *key theme* to this movie. And while working at his soul crushing job, Bob lost his temper and took it out on his boss.
Of course; his boss didn't know he was a super. The Supers were all in witness protection. From his perspective; Gilbert Hugh was protecting Bob from his *own* mistakes.
Par on the other hand was a direct cause in the firm he worked for to lose a lot of money; because he didn't follow the protocols, and authorized every claim that passed by his desk.
He never verified if any of his customers were at fault; as far as Gilbert knew: Bob was a lazy worker who didn't do anything besides approve the applications on his desk.
This comes to a head, when Hugh stops Bob from stopping a mugging. This scene is framed as the Boss going on a power trip against somebody who is superior to him. Bob felt like a dog on a leash. But Gilbert was protecting him from himself (and racking up his own insurance bill the company would have to pay for.)
And there's another take; Bob didn't know if this "Mugging" was self-defense and he didn't care to find out.
He just wanted to live out his "Hero" Fantasy. The same attitude he had when Incrediboy got in his way.
Why were the supers all in witness protection you ask? Because they had a habit of doing damage first and asking questions later. Living this sleek nighttime fame, while taking on none of the responsibility or consequences for the negative outcomes of their actions.
The government was essentially paying them to stay out of the way and to stop doing damage. That was their Job.
<aside>Let's take a step back and admire the naming choice "incredible" as in "Not Credible". It's an excellent naming choice.</aside>
<aside>If this sounds familiar to another movie by Mike Judge; "Office Space" you've got it. Where the unreliable protagonist abuses the power he's entrusted with.</aside>
<aside>This style of messaging being purely entertaining to kids, but attempting to appeal to parents and older audiences with much deeper messaging and imagery is really an amazing construct that is prevalent in all of Judd's work.</aside>
And this extends well past this; after losing his job, Bob is contacted by a secret organization in order to "relive his glory days" and jumps at the chance to do so.
However; this is where the story loses coherency. We as the audience don't actually know what is the right thing anymore. We start to see the entire plot through the eyes of the unreliable narrative.
Because Bob sees all of these things as his own person enemy, and worries about how he's getting old and obsolete. And starts literally fighting the future that will make him obsolete; we as the audience can no longer discern right or wrong and we root for the good guys.
Because Syndrome, and his monstrosity literally built to make Supers obsolete, becomes a weapon for evil as far as the story goes.
But if we look at it from an alternate perspective; Syndrome had worked his whole life to protect the world. He started at a young age, and when he was rejected by his hero; he started seeing the world differently. He started seeing the damage and the reckless behavior that Supers routinely displayed in the pursuit of the clout that comes from being "The Hero".
He was protecting the world from the threat supers demonstrated, and something even stronger than they were. Possibly even stronger than Jack -Jack.
Syndrome didn't have the experience or wisdom that the Incredibles had, but he still showed a work ethic and dedication they did not. He probably shouldn't've called child services on them though... That was a bad move.
After tearing apart his dreams, treating him awfully, Mr. Incredible [terminated] his biggest fan, without any evidence at all that he was the cause of the other Super's death.
<aside>A lot of the spin-off stuff tries to create a solution for this, including creating a kind of jumping point for "brain in a jar" or matrix style world building. But the truth is; Bob didn't even know how old the deceased were, as far as he knew he was watching simulations of heroes who died of old age in Incredibles 1.</aside>
Instead of helping out the next generation of superhero; the Incredibles showcased a war between generations. One that Bob Par started with his inability to let go of the feeling of superiority and being the only one who can do the right thing.
What did Syndrome do? He created a situation where the supers, and his Hero didn't have to live in hiding anymore. He played the heel because despite the Par family's intense self-absorbed nature; they were in fact being treated like second class citizens.
He created a world where people were free to be Super. Just like he said he would, and unlike Mr. Incredible; he didn't do it for the clout.
"Oh noo, I've lost control of my custom built robot with millions of safe guards against this exact thing happening. WHATEVER WILL I DO?" - Syndrome Sarcastically

It’s interesting how race is treated in this fandom. Fuck Bob, protect Ray against all internalized racism, but please excuse Lynz for pretending to be Indian for clout just a few years ago. She doesn’t have to apologize because she’s Gerard’s wife, which is not misogynistic behavior BUT criticism of her is.

Saw this video awhile a go of this douche on a motorcycle bobbing and weaving through cars and incoming traffic and he acted all big and bad. He then turned off the comments of the video because apparently endangering the lives of random people on the road for clout is okay but saying mean words to him on the internet is too far.

That Mordred was so nearsighted the world beyond seven yalms around him was a blur was, and always would be, an amusing shock to people who just found out.
Theodore once thought Mordred's refusal to wear corrective eyeglasses outside of delicate crafting was along the same vein of stubbornness that prevented him from telling people he had asthma unless he thought it would become a physical liability. Maybe it was. Mordred's mulishness zigzagged some...strange lines Theodore could not always understand, keen though they were to each other's feelings thanks to their Echoes. But really, by this point? He knew the cat kept the "I can't see" card in his sleeve for comedic effect.
And because he always produced those binoculars-on-a-stick with which he used to espy far-off things clearly with such a flourish so as to constitute an arcane gesture, Theodore knew for a second fact that he enjoyed settling into a mood of nosiness.
"You are so dramatic," Theodore said, not looking up from his book. Behind him, the couple having the loudest breakup in the Northern Empty, right there on the far end of the Last Stand, had kicked it up a notch. "You know they are only twenty steps away and could very well take their business over here and fling you into the ocean?"
Mordred lifted the binoculars from his eyes for a moment to give Theodore a look. "They're not going to," he said with certainty. "Not when they're getting that heated. What's a thesis defense? Why does it matter that the fellow failed his?"
Theodore shrugged. He had only two weeks to finish this Hingan martial arts novel before he needed to return it to Hancock, but it was becoming impossible to concentrate.
"You're just like all the other boys!" the young hyur woman screamed, her voice cracking with passion.
A table over, a gleaner leaned over and told Mordred, "A thesis defense is like a final, presentation-style quiz from a chosen committee to make sure the scholar who wrote the thesis they were defending was actually knowledgeable in their field. It is a formality, really. The thesis would have been approved before then."
"That's a good way to verify their expertise," Mordred replied.
"A tropical storm must be on its way to Old Sharlayan if you are complimenting anything this country does," Theodore said.
"Yes, well, you're just like all the other girls!" the Au Ra boyfriend who failed the pre-described formality shouted back. "Shallow and clout-chasing and--"
"Don't you dare!" his soon-to-be-ex shrieked.
Mordred put the binoculars back over his eyes. With the other hand, he fumbled around the table.
Theodore looked up from his novel long enough to pull the cup of hollandaise sauce away from the danger of dirty fingers dipping into them, then pushed the plate of cashews under Mordred's questing reach. He popped two of them into his mouth with a grunt of thanks.
"Poor fellow," the gleaner sighed. "Risch is a brilliant young man. It's well known to everyone that he is a terrible speaker, though. The lad probably lost his nerves during his thesis defense and bombed it that way."
"That's a shame," Mordred said with real sympathy.
And then, in a truly gender-roles-defying moment, the Auri young man named Risch started bawling.
"Oh pumpkin," said his almost-ex-but-apparently-not almost immediately. "Oh, sweet love. Come now."
Theodore closed the book and set it aside, then turned sideways in his chair to very surreptitiously look at the couple. There was no denying this unfolding drama was more fun than his novel, at this point.
The hyuran young woman had circled around the table and had her arms around her boyfriend, who was still sobbing hysterically with his hands over his face. She must be saying something because Theodore saw his horns bob up and down as he nodded, but could not make out the words.
The tables around them, naturally all occupied because this was the Last Stand, seemed to relax. One girl dressed in red scholarly robe two seats over started clapping, only for her blue-robed friend to quickly punch her in the arm.
"Ah, young love," the gleaner sighed. "Hopefully, that will be their last fight in awhile."
"I--" Mordred was interrupted by a fit of coughing, because of course he would, he just ate cashews, he coughed when eating most nuts, but did he order a plate of it? Yes. Theodore sighed and poured him a glass of lemonade from their pitcher and handed it to him.
Then he picked his novel back up.
"You're not the least bit stirred by that?" Mordred asked him, squinting over the lip of the glass. "Pretty cold."
"We used to see that weekly in the Scholasticate," Theodore replied as he flipped to the last page he was on. Depressingly closer to the beginning than to the middle, let alone the end. Maybe he should just have sex with Hancock and slip in an extension to this book-borrowing in the afterglow, at this rate; make it two treats for the hassle of one trip to Kugane. "The youngsters here have nothing on the youngsters from prestigious Halonic backgrounds. Our grudges resulted in girls ripping out their rivals' fingernails."
Mordred said to the gleaner, "I heard there was a study about the effect of prolonged lack of exposure to sunlight resulting in clinical insanity. D'you know anything about that?"
Theodore sighed.

► BIOGRAPHY
TW; n/a
Max was born and raised in the seashore town of Asbury Park, NJ. Though small, the town holds such a tight-knit community filled with nothing but love and acceptance. Not only the community, but Max's parents always held the same warmth. It's why Max always felt free and lived without fear: she was accepted for who she was. It made it that much easier to come out when she was in middle school; Though, no one was surprised and obviously celebrated her for being herself. She found a love for art at an early age, as well. From paint splatter rooms with her mother, to "slaying dragons" with her father - Max's imagination, emotions and dreams were always believed to be within reach. That was before she became a local treasure in the realm of singing within the LGBTQ+ community. Soon enough, the young 17 year old Max was signed onto a record label. Little did she know that that would be her first big mistake in life. The record label attempted to control every aspect of her music, and so she stopped for a period of time; Enrolling into college and gaining her degrees whilst making music behind closed doors. With the support of her fans, she was able to buy back her music and take her image back. Her life, her art - it was hers. Now at 31 years of age, Max is living her best life in NYC. Writing, producing and putting out her own music under her own label. She made it a point for her label to assist smaller artists who found themselves in the same position she had, and she won't stop until the poetry in the streets are raw and authentic from their rightful poets.
► DEEP DIVE
Max gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. Her heart is too big for her body, and she shows it through leaving a piece of herself in everyone she meets. This is an aspect most admire, though she tends to leave herself vulnerable due to it. She also is a big presence in activism and one can easily find her on the frontlines of various marches and protests. She loves to travel and appreciate other cultures; It's one of her favorite things to do when she is touring. She can be comedic and chaotic, but ultimately she's benevolent. She appreciates art and loves getting lost in movies or an art museum on Sundays. Max tends to get bored easily, and this is her biggest fault as a human; She does fight this, but it helps if one could keep her attention for longer than a week. A big lover and fighter - don't make her pick. She loves to go out, but also stay in. She's loyal to those in her corner. She does change from day to day and this goes hand-in-hand with her boredom. She's also very blunt and will say whatever comes to her mind in the moment. Max also loves 3am smoke sessions and talking conspiracies. At the end of the day, Max is a wild ride but a fun one at that!

Robinson v De Niro trial update:
So a couple of Bobby D’s other employees have testified and told of their experiences working for/with Chase Robinson.
I said in my post last night that Chase is not the hardworking, overworked, underpaid angelic assistant she has made herself out to be and now the tea is being spilled.
She is a clout chasing asshole. And while I don’t necessarily think she was in love with Bobby D (she may have had some weird idea about how important she was to him or perhaps had some other kind of weird fixation with him) I do think that she wanted control over his life and finances especially after he separated from Grace.
I think Chase felt threatened by Tiffany and Tiffany not being a pushover started setting boundaries and putting Chase back in line at the townhouse she shares with Bob. Tiffany tbh I don’t think understood that she had no clout in Bob’s company and Bob must have set her straight at some point but Tiffany as we will find out had other suspicions about Chase that were prove to be correct. Tiffany is set to testify in the next couple of days I think or maybe just to keep us hanging she might not testify until Monday but either way if her testimony is the same as her deposition things are going to get interesting.
