While browsing Vogue magazine, Sébastien Mitton found a photograph of Ruby Aldridge from the Céline Fall 2011 fashion show. He said, “Boom! We have the direction!” Her beauty and her unsettling gaze drove the first concept art for Emily.

Don't get me wrong but I'm genuinely confused why Jimin is mot doing any activities like other members. All the members are preparing for solo album and doing other works. But Jimin is only working on his album and nothing else. If we look their solo activities since announcement.
JK - he doesn't do many activities but things he does is pretty large scale. L&R MV + making + recording. Most charted somg by k soloist on BB. Performed on fifa stage - first Korean to perform on a WC, #2 debut and many locals fell for him lol.
RM - attended a museum activity, sexy nukim, WKorea with hobi, performed with balking tiger, podcast + interview, Pharrell interview + photoshoot, now host for a show.
Hobi - listening party something no members did ever lol, Lola + BTB + interviews, radio talk shows, crush collab, IU's pallet, crush interview, Zico interview.
Jin - Multiple movie premiers, Chef baek episodes, yesterday's liquor show, running man, CP concert performance, Youngji interview, interview with an old man idk his name, GQ top 10 things
Tae - ITS with wooga squad, movie premieres, Celine event, Vogue shoot, Paris schedule 2, dj radio show.
Suga - That That+ performance with Psy+ BTB, NCB event, dropping dropdead pics of insta which is definitely some photoshoots for a collab going behind scenes lol.
* Didn't included ost of vocal line because it was while they were performing and active as a group and didn't had any behind scenes.
Jimin - literally nothing and I wonder why. Is he not intereste in other activities apart from performing ? And not comfortable on appearing for those event. He's working for his album with various producers but that's it and rest members are doing the same, we saw how many collabs RM has on Indigo. Apart from all of these he's not active on sm too. Not even posting a single pic or message. I just miss him so much and not even getting to see him even as part of work.
Hello Confused Anon...
I can see why you are “genuinely” confused Anon. You seem to have Jimin mixed up with some other person you think is Jimin...
Especially since you proceeded to compare him to every other member in the group as if lauding their accomplishments like it’s some sort of competition between the members... what’s the point of that? why does your mind even go there?
You sort of answered yourself right away in your third sentence:
"But Jimin is only working on his album and nothing else."
But in case you really are “genuinely” confused... I wonder how you got so mixed up about who Jimin is? Maybe you do not pay enough attention to Jimin... here let me help you figure it out:
Jimin has said repeatedly that he is working hard on his album. Over the last five or six months we’ve seen the pictures from so many award-winning producers and musicians who are excited to share that they are working with Jimin.
Tumblr media
I am assuming Jimin’s involvement is very time consuming and leaves very little time to travel across the globe to see fashion shows and such. He is probably feeling a little time crunch with that thing called military service looming and we know Jimin is a perfectionist... well, the rest of us do but you probably are not aware Anon because you were confusing Jimin with someone else.... anyway... Jimin being the perfectionist is cooking up some great music for us and is laser focused and has chosen not to do any one-off collabs. Any collaborations he’s done he is keeping under wraps until he is ready to release his album. Why hold that against him?
I understand you "miss" him but he’s not been totally absent... he’s had some time to get out and about...
During June/July/August 2022:
Jimin went to watch a few soccer matches with Hobi and with Sung Woon. He also went to see his friend Sung Woon’s performance in a stage musical one evening.
One thing Jimin is not: an attention seeker. Crowds are not his thing. He tried to keep it lowkey but alas, people can’t help themselves and take pics and post them on social media. People have no chill when it comes to that. Red carpets are work for him. He obviously chooses not to do them. No red carpets mean no premiers.
Jimin made a side-trip to Chicago for Lollapalooza to support his Hobi-hyung. While there he also took in other Lolla acts including TXT. Maybe you missed that too. He's living the life, Anon.
Tumblr media
On to Los Angeles for his work and while there he hung out with Benny Blanco amongst others. Perhaps they even worked together again? We’ll find out eventually!
He also went to the beach at sunset again while in L.A. Jimin loves him some U.S. west coast beach at sunset (I wonder why).
Tumblr media
On September 1 Jimin was with Jungkook on JK’s birthday. Remember JK's little smirk and giggle on HIS WeLive when Jin asked him if Jimin visited him that day and JK said yes, he did. They probably reminisced about that west coast beach sunset...I KNOW you couldn’t have missed the pic Jimin posted... but maybe you did.
Tumblr media
Then Jimin did a few WeLives for us, I think three of them, spread out between then and his birthday on Oct. 13. So he's made himself visible when he's in the right frame of mind.
One thing that has become obvious... Jimin requires structure in his life. He flat out said going to work every day was something he needs to do... “it feels like clocking out, not clocking in” when he gets to work. It lines up with his near obsession about his workout regimen. During the pandemic he tearfully told us he wasn’t sure what he was supposed to be doing all that time. The man needs a schedule to function.
Another thing that’s quite obvious. Jimin is not gonna share anything he doesn’t want to. Except that he loves to eat but is constantly trying to maintain his weight/physique. And also he just lays around the house. Oh and also there are five moon tattoos running down his back now... see’em when you can he says... that boy...
Yes, he’s an idol and he’s stated he is not a solo artist, he is part of a group. So this period is a real growing time for Jimin. Out of all the members, I believe Jimin will show us some things that even HE had no idea he could do. I am waiting patiently for him to be ready to show us.
So I hope that made things less confusing for you, Anon. Any “outside” work that has nothing to do with is album is probably non-existent because that is what Jimin has chosen for himself. If you are still “genuinely” confused about that then I will just chalk it up to you choosing to be a “genuine” douchebag of a person and I hope you eventually grow out of that mindset.
But hopefully you meant to be nice.

https://www.tumblr.com/dearweirdme/730612157431054336/httpswwwtumblrcomdearweirdme7305452643136471 Same anon here. 😁 I think there was a difference in Taekook after Paris but I think a lot of it has to do with how busy they both got after that. We still had them arriving (late) together and leaving together from Yoongi's concert. Obviously, the Seven mv shoot and Bruno Mars concert happened where they wore those matching shirts which is for me my second favorite Taekook moment of the year after the Dream premiere. Apparently the necklace JK was wearing that same day in the Seven mv is also an old piece from Celine that is no longer available and came from his personal collection because he also brought it to the recent Vogue photo shoot that he directed. Make of that what you will, but finding out that info from Vogue I'm convinced the shirt was also his and obviously they planned to wear them. I honestly don't get people who act like he talks about Jimin all the time or way more than Tae? I feel like this is a very biased view. Tae solos will tell you that Jungkook mentions Tae all the time for attention, and Jungkook solos will tell you the reverse is true. Since Paris we got Jungkook confirming that he played Seven for Tae first and that they always send music they're working on to each other. Tae talked about working on the songs for Layover at Jungkook's house. They're clearly still spending as much time as they can together, they're just also both really busy. I'm Jungkook biased, I listen to him and I don't notice him favoring Jimin so heavily. He does seem to talk about Jimin and Tae more than the other BTS members, but I think that's because he's closer to them than the other members of the group and also he gets asked about them A LOT. On a different topic, did you see the previews of the concept photos for the "Substance" version of Jungkook's album? It includes graffiti of his tattoos, and one thing stood out. There are least two Vs. I think it's very interesting, one of the Vs is next to a crown like the one he has next to it on his hand, but the crown is oriented correctly. The V should be upside down if it's from his ARMY tattoo...but in this photo set it is just a regular V now. I really don't know what to think about that, but I'm curious if anyone else has thoughts. Also, some misinformation being spread about the other graffiti people are saying it says J 🤟 V, it does not. The tattoo in between is his 🤘 tattoo which was actually a basic flash design by Mijoo and it's been there since the beginning, although he did get it retouched/colored by PolyC (who has really been doing a beautiful job on his sleeve)
Hi again!
Yes, great points! Them being busy definetly has to do with it as well. I feel the difference lies most in how freely they mention each other in lives. I had someone comment it's because of the shipping comments, and I i do agree. They do lives for themselves, and to have people ask for shipping proofs must be annoying, because it takes the focus away from their music and their own connection with army.
I did see the pic with the tattoos, I'm kinda hoping to see some behind the scenes of the whole backdrop with his tattoos (which is super nice by the way, really love that pic), to see if I can get a larger idea of how his tattoos were spreaded.

No. I'm getting you right, you are a Jimin-anti. In the last four five months Jimin has been super busy with work and so many producers have met him, and all the members mention him being busy with work every time they talk about him. When the result of this hard work come out what will you do anon?

"sad sack of potatoes", lol. fr though, you can tell when tae is actually upset vs when he's just putting on that model-type resting bitch face, but i got actually upset vibes from those celine pics from yesterday - he also looks like he's lost a lot of weight...in the span of a few days? i wonder what's wrong.
He probably did lose some weight, but that doesn't mean anything is wrong... They really starve before events like that, or for comebacks. Jimin was dieting for a long time before filming stuff for FACE. Taehyung last year posted about only eating chicken breast and even posted a photo of a scale showing his weight lmao, then soon after he traveled for his Vogue shoot. Jungkook this year too suddenly went back to boxing and dieting around the time he was shooting for Calvin Klein. I'm sure Taehyung spent a couple of days on water before Cannes.

Your Complete Guide to the Most Stylish It-Girls of All Time
Plenty of celebs are well-dressed—but it takes something truly special to elevate a person to “style icon” status.
The women who reach that rarefied realm do so in many ways. They might define an entire genre of style, like Brigitte Bardot did with her effortless, French-girl chic. They could be masters of using style to communicate emotional states, like Princess Diana did in her famous post-breakup “revenge dress.” They could embrace a totally unique vision, like Solange Knowles in her ethereal, avant-garde designs. Or, like Tommy Hilfiger ambassador Gigi Hadid, they might simply exude youthful joie de vivre in a way that captures everyone’s imagination—and inspires legions of imitators.
Whatever the special alchemy is that makes a stylish woman an It-girl, the 16 women ahead definitely have it. Read on for the legends who defined—or are re-defining—style as we know it.
Gigi Hadid
More than any of the other young models and influencers known as the “Insta Girls,” we’ve loved watching Gigi Hadid’s evolution into style icon. Hadid has a way of mixing streetwear, sexy basics, and high fashion, and she can definitely turn it all the way up to high glam for a night out (as she did here in a metallic mini dress).
But Hadid is the opposite of the haughty fashionista—she has a sunny spirit that imparts every look with a breezy, care-free elan. Like Christie Brinkley or Lauren Hutton before her, Gigi is a very American sort of fashion icon.
Photo: Raymond Hall/GC Images/Getty
Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell
Why yes, we are cheating by including these two legends in one pic. But Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss were simply the alpha and omega of ‘90s supermodels, badass Brits, and style icons. Fashion-wise, they were worlds apart—Naomi favored body-conscious, high-glam creations from designers like Azzedine Alaia while Kate favored a quirky mix of thrifted finds with avant-garde designer pieces.
But they were both supernova-hot, impossibly chic, and had an irresistible It-factor that made them the ones everyone wanted to swill champagne and kick it with them. Name a more iconic fashion duo—we’ll wait.
Photo: Dave Benett/Getty Images
Francoise Hardy
A singer-songwriter who emerged from France’s early-'60s “ye-ye” scene, Francoise Hardy was the sensitive girl with a guitar and a killer sense of style. With her wardrobe of slim-cut trousers, wide leather belts, Chelsea boots, and teeny miniskirts—and, of course, those iconic blunt bangs—she cut a figure of tomboy elegance that set the template for Daisy Lowe, Tennessee Thomas, Alexa Chung and so many It-girls since.
Photo: Andrew Maclear/Redferns/Getty Images
Chloe Sevigny
It’s a sad fact of fashion that an outfit that looks au courant right now will look a little tired in one year, and downright laughable in 10. But Chloe Sevigny has the miraculous ability to overcome this curse: Somehow, the looks she wore in 1998 and 2008 look just as amazing in 2018.
Maybe it’s because she never blindly follows the trends du jour, but instead works her own quirky, vintage-inspired style. Unlike many celebs who look “dressed” or “styled,” Sevigny looks like herself, and rarely like anyone else. She's the quintessential New York cool girl.
Photo: Gustavo Caballero/WireImage for Dan Klores Communications/Getty Images
Rihanna
Rihanna is the embodiment of DGAF. When she wears an underground designer, it can literally put them on the map (hey, Adam Selman, creator of the instant-legend “naked dress”), and when she embraces a trend, she instantly inspires a thousand imitators overnight (hello, every Instagirl wearing teeny shades).
She’s always willing to experiment with outlandish silhouettes, and unapologetically loves and flaunts her body through all its fluctuations. She dresses for herself and no one else—a true inspiration.
Photo: George Pimentel/WireImage/Getty Images
Marisa Berenson
A granddaughter of legendary couturier Elsa Schiaparelli, a model who was a fixture in late-'60s Vogue, and a muse to everyone from Halston to Yves Saint Laurent—fashion credentials do not get much more purebred than this, people.
But Marisa Berenson was so much more than just a pretty face: She was a fixture on the socialite scene, a patron of the arts, and a pioneer of the luxe-bohemian style that today finds expression in women from Mary-Kate Olsen to Rachel Zoe.
Photo: Gian Paolo Barbieri/Condé Nast via Getty Images
Solange Knowles
Anyone who still describes Solange Knowles as sister to a certain superstar is missing the point. Not only has Solo fully emerged as her own unique talent, with plaintive songs that explore love, loss, and Black identity, she’s done it all while pioneering a new kind of otherworldly style.
Ethereal layered gowns, metallic ruffled tops, dramatic jeweled headpieces—Solange effortlessly embraces avant-garde looks and serves up space princess like no other.
Photo: Mireya Acierto/Getty Images
Brigitte Bardot
Along with Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte is the woman who defined “blonde bombshell.” She also unwittingly created the blueprint for that whole French-girl chic that everyone’s still obsessed with (even if they don’t want to admit it).
Her striped, bateau-neck tees; slim-cut capri pants; ballet flats; cat-eye makeup; and what can only be described as “bedroom hair” single-handedly created the “pouty French beauty” archetype to which many women still aspire.
Photo: Sunset Boulevard/Corbis via Getty Images
Alexa Chung
After years of Hollywood starlets such as Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton dominating the gossip pages, Alexa Chung was such a breath of fresh air when she hit the scene around 2007. The gravelly-voiced Brit with a cheeky sense of humor and winsome, '60s-inspired style had plenty of wit to go with her beauty.
After Alexa, every indie girl worth her salt invested in a Peter Pan-collar dress, a pair of ballet flats, and learned to flick her eyeliner—a look Alexa borrowed from Francoise Hardy and brought into the 21st century.
Photo: Ricky Vigil M/GC Images/Getty Images
Diana Ross
It is impossible to overstate the importance of Diana Ross. She was many things: An iconic singer with the Supremes and solo, an Academy Award-nominated actress, a fashion and beauty icon, and one of the world’s first Black superstars—all feats she achieved in an era of widespread discrimination. And yes, she was also a diva whose style was always about capital-g Glamour, darling: sequins, feathers, gowns down to there, and hair to the sky.
Photo: Waring Abbott/Getty Images
Meghan Markle
So much recent ink has been spilled about the Duchess of Sussex, it almost seems like overkill. But Markle’s impact on the royal family and the world of style truly matters—she’s the first truly fashion-forward royal. While women like Princess Diana and Kate Middleton were undeniably graceful and always occasion-appropriate, Markle brings a sense of experimentation and youthful sophistication to her tea-length skirts and sheath dresses that sets her apart from any royal before.
Photo: Chris Jackson/Getty Images
Bianca Jagger
This Nicaragua-born model and actress officially entered the realm of style icons when she married Mick Jagger in Saint Tropez in 1971, while wearing an impeccably cut white suit. Throughout the ‘70s, she emerged as the reigning queen of the Studio 54 scene, holding court with luminaries from the art worlds (Andy Warhol, Grace Jones) and bringing an unforgettably dramatic flair to her style—think giant flowers in her hair, red-sequin gowns with matching berets, and, oh yeah, that time she arrived to her birthday party in an off-shoulder dress riding a white horse.
Photo: Central Press/Hulton Archive/Getty Images
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
Their fashion sense may be divisive—especially Mary-Kate, who tends to favor more eccentric looks than her twin—but in 2018, no one can deny that these women are fully-fledged style icons, both for their personal fashion and for the work they’ve done helming their luxury label The Row.
In fact, they don’t always get credit for embracing trends years before the rest of us catch on (Birkenstocks, circle sunnies, and Celine-esque oversized layers all spring to mind). But that probably doesn’t bother them—these are women who do their own thing, and let the rest of the world catch up.
Photo: Rabbani and Solimene Photography/Getty Images
Princess Diana
From the moment she announced her engagement to Prince Charles in 1981, Diana had an uncanny ability to connect with people and inspire fashion fervor. While some of her ‘80s formal looks veered into ruffly excess (it was kind of the style at the time), she always had a joyful approach to color and silhouette that thoroughly modernized the formerly-stuffy House of Windsor.
By the ‘90s she’d dropped her philandering husband and pared her style down to just the basics: sleek silhouettes, and sexy shorter hemlines that many interpreted as the ultimate revenge.
Photo: Jayne Fincher/Getty Images
Carolyn Bessette Kennedy
The fashion publicist entered the world stage fast when she began dating John Kennedy, Jr. in 1994. The pair were constantly followed by paparazzi, and Carolyn’s minimalist, luxe basics—sleeveless turtleneck sweaters, pencil skirts, kitten-heel pumps—was widely imitated by women everywhere, and defined chic in the mid-'90s.
A savvy, New York City blonde in the fashion industry with impeccable style, we see a lot of Carolyn in Carrie Bradshaw, and so many women since who come to the big city to pursue their fashion dreams (and maybe find love, too).

Nicolas Ghesquière Photographs Louis Vuitton’s Fall Campaign – WWD
https://ift.tt/2P0sqK2
Confinement pushed many fashion people to be creative in different ways, to move outside their comfort zone and usual perimeter of expression.
It gave Nicolas Ghesquière the bold idea to shoot Louis Vuitton’s fall campaign, his extensive “portrait gallery” as direct, sharp and carefully considered as his fashions, though with a lighter spirit. He even coaxed some full-on smiles.
“It was something I wanted to do for a long time, in a very humble way,” he said. “I thought it was interesting to add a new point of view for Vuitton, and they were kind enough to agree to take a risk on a very young, new photographer.”
Ghesquière laughed. He’s actually not such a newbie, recalling that he photographed his designs earlier in his career “to try to give them that second dimension,” and for years toted an old Leica to snap personal pics, accumulating boxes and boxes of images. “I think maturity, probably, and experience give you confidence to take positions you never took before,” he mused.

His pitch to Vuitton chief executive officer Michael Burke and executive vice president Delphine Arnault was to bring coherence and unity in communication across multiple categories of product. “And I told them, ‘I think I’m ready to do that,’” he related in an exclusive interview.
Indeed, the campaign, slated to run over three months after it breaks Aug. 1 in Le Figaro, amalgamates what would have been several campaigns: showcasing not only the fall runway collection, but also the new Since 1854 range, plus permanent products designed long before Ghesquière arrived at the French luxury house in 2013.
Ghesquière acknowledged that one of the most challenging aspects was photographing the leather goods. “You know how essential handbags are at Vuitton, and we love handbags, but it is so hard to give handbags a great visual effect,” he said.
French actress Léa Seydoux, in perhaps the most joyful of the images, found a way to suspend a monogram Dauphine bag over her forearm and elbow as she folds her arms behind her head and lets out a laugh.
“There are so many things that I like about this picture: the attitude, the fact that he captured a genuine moment where I was laughing. He didn’t ask me to laugh on purpose,” Seydoux marveled. “As with everything he does, Nicolas was a pro. He knew exactly what he wanted, talked me through the brief and took the time to explain what he wanted to achieve. He guided the team and me throughout the session, creating a really relaxed atmosphere, so we got the shot very quickly.”

Ghesquière said his motivation to shoot a campaign was to “show that I could have a point of view.”
To be sure, the French designer said he has long been inspired by fashion photography “so it was interesting to be on the other side of the camera,” he said. “Some people have this crazy capacity to be so photogenic, and some other people that are so gorgeous in real life are not that easy to photograph. I mean, it is the reality and this is a discussion I have had with many photographers.”
He’s worked with the crème de la crème: Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Weber, Steven Meisel, David Sims, Juergen Teller, Collier Schorr, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin among them. What’s more, Irving Penn has shot the designer’s portrait, and he attended a Penn fashion shoot for American Vogue featuring model Gemma Ward.
All have different working methods, and Ghesquière gleaned many insights.
“Some people can catch the moment very quickly, and the first picture will often be the right one. Bruce catches that moment of emotion that is very raw, and David has that gift, too,” he said. Penn, meanwhile, was all about building up the image slowly and methodically. “The way he was putting the girl and the clothes and the composition together was exactly like what you can imagine a painter would do, and the time for him was limitless,” Ghesquière said. “He could take days to do one shot.”
During his debut Vuitton shoot, “what I was looking for was the direct emotion,” Ghesquière said. “So I was the more quick type. I was trying to get something right at the beginning of this session.”
A heritage trunkmaker still closely associated with travel, Vuitton campaigns have been shot all over the world, from the swamps of Cambodia and downtown Moscow to Pompano Beach, Fla., and the storied Île Saint-Louis in Paris.
Yet Ghesquière decided to stay put, inviting the entire cast and crew to his Paris apartment, where he could closely follow all safety precautions to protect everyone from the coronavirus.
“I wanted to welcome people at home, to make them comfortable, and to set up a relationship of trust,” he said, also describing the space as very feng shui. “Today I think home means a lot to people. In the moment we all just went through, going home, being at home, is even a stronger symbol than before. So that was why I wanted to do it there.”

The designer assembled a large and diverse cast for the shoot. They include British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, transgender model Krow Kian, actress Stacy Martin and the Congolese-Belgian singer known as Lous and the Yakuza. Ghesquière said he was often sneaking off to the makeup area to listen in on conversations, always curious to know about the personalities he recruits, their artistic expressions, and their interests.
“You have to try to shoot models for who they are in real life, not because they are models,” he said, noting, for example, that sleepy-eyed Mariam de Vinzelle is studying engineering and talks science as fluently as the designer does fashion history. “She’s a model, but I see her more as the student she is,” he said.
For Seydoux, who will be seen late this year in the James Bond film “No Time to Die” and in Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch,” the designer “wanted to catch that sense of humor she has in real life and this lightness,” not forgetting her inimitable mix of French beauty and Hollywood glamour.
Martin, who stars in the acclaimed sci-fi film “Archive,” said Ghesquière approached the shoot with a “precise eye” and clear intentions.
“Nicolas always seems to see beyond the clothing — he creates not only a silhouette but also a character in a distinctive world. I think that’s why I respond to it so much, it echoes cinematic worlds,” she said. “He looks for what magnifies women and makes them feel unique by going past the conventions of beauty and fashion.”
French actress Marina Foïs lauds Ghesquière’s bold use of color and mash-up of references in his fashions, and yet “no one disappears behind what they wear,” she says. “What strikes me about these photos, mine and the others, is the directness, the strength of the gazes and the truth of the smiles. It’s simple and sophisticated.”
Ghesquière worked with professional crews to achieve the lighting and framing he had in mind, leaving him free to conjure moments he described as simple, positive and at times joyful. “It’s also the message I wanted to give,” he said.
“Probably my work when I do fashion shows is much more about drama, because the fashion show is usually quite dramatic. And I thought the campaign would be interesting if I could achieve a different kind of emotion,” he said.
Ghesquière acknowledged that he had to occasionally resist the urge to drop the camera, and jump onto the set to adjust the clothes, leaving that job to stylist Marie-Amélie Sauvé, who draped a hoodie over Asher-Smith’s head, a wink to her athleticism.
He said it was inspiring to see how “all these elements came together with great coherency. There is a strong proposition at Vuitton that says a lot about how much people are working together in that brand.”
The designer also felt a strong sense of accomplishment having followed his clothes from their creation to the “final point,” which is the campaign. “It was interesting to take control of that and to really go through the whole process until photographing the clothes,” he said. “I took so much pleasure to do it. It was a joyful experience, and safely done. I shot the different talents one by one.”
Very few designers pick up a camera themselves, with the late Karl Lagerfeld perhaps the most accomplished of them all, having lensed campaigns for Chanel, Fendi and his own brand for decades, along with advertisements for Dom Pérignon, Adidas and Coca-Cola. Hedi Slimane followed in his footsteps and shoots all brand imagery for Celine.
Recently, Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli and Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing picked up a camera to shoot their resort campaigns.
Ghesquière made it clear his expansive fall campaign is not a one-off.
“Yes, I hope to continue shooting,” he said, “but I also want to keep working with great talents. Vuitton is so large and we always need different images.”
Ghesquière suggested to Burke and Arnault that he could do a “working session” just to reassure them he was up to the task, but they did not insist.
“They were very supportive right at the beginning, they never saw any picture that I did before. And they really trust my vision from in the first minute I shared the idea of this project with them. It was really great to explore a new artistic expression I could add to the Vuitton story we’ve been telling over the last years,” Ghesquiere said, describing himself as “someone that could really put together this message with a lot of unity, a universal message about what is Louis Vuitton today and how it can reflect the world of today.”
According to Burke, Ghesquière offered “a more focused point of view” for Vuitton at a time when new media is exploding. “There are very few global buys anymore,” he said. “We’ve empowered completely all our countries and regions.”
Also, Vuitton is forgoing the past impulse to dedicate campaigns to certain seasons or product categories. “People want to see Nicolas’ point of view on the Vuitton woman,” he said. “There’s more movement, more attitude, more inclusivity — all the things that resonate with digital media platforms.”
While he didn’t give numbers, Burke said Vuitton would spend more on advertising in the second half of 2020 than the same period last year, reflecting a rebound in business in many markets, and unspent monies carried over from the first half. It is also to support a stronger pipeline of new products, headlined by Since 1854, a range of clothes and leather goods featuring a new jacquard.
Burke said the new campaign would lead to a sequel, done with the same dedication to diversity and inclusion, and a reliance on local casting. While the latter was a necessity this year due to travel restrictions, Burke said “that’s also the future.”
While he didn’t rule out campaign shoots in cities other than Paris, Burke said Vuitton would rely on talents in town at the time rather than flying in models, singers and actresses from all over the world. “It makes for a much more authentic set,” he said.
Vuitton will also run separate campaigns for its men’s product universe and high jewelry in the second half, he noted.
Deciding to shoot the women’s campaign was not the only new idea Ghesquière had during lockdown.
“I took that opportunity to step back, to think more deeply about how I do things,” he said. “I want to be an actor of change. To change in everyday actions, in everyday decisions is important.”
In lieu of a destination cruise show — Vuitton has shown as far afield as Brazil and Japan — the designer created a more concise collection of about 20 looks, pouring a lot of energy into fabric development, including a new monogram toile incorporating playing-card motifs.
“It is a very strong statement in fashion, I did it with the same honest message, the same conviction, with no compromise,” he said. “It pushed us to go straight to the essentials, maybe to do fewer prototypes, to waste less maybe, to be more focused on the message.”
He said he was heartened by the positive feedback, though he still plans to do a physical show in October,
“I’m going to do digital stuff like everyone, I’m working on different projects that can reach the people who will be far away from us unfortunately,” he said. “But I need a physical, live event that will take place in Paris and I’m doing everything to make it happen, limited obviously by the sanitary conditions. I really hope the fashion week will exist. Everyone has a responsibility and the big brands are important in this calendar.”
He allowed that the show is likely to be smaller, “more adapted to what we’re going through.”

If there was one place to be seen at the 2017 Met Gala, it was the video booth!
Everyone from Celine Dion to Jaden Smith and his dreads rocked up to the impressive set-up at the glitzy New York event.
EXCLUSIVE PICS: Inside the 2017 Met Gala!
While Perry started off with her back to the camera, the “Chained to the Rhythm” singer then swung around to show off her much-talked about Maison Margiela number, with dramatic and somewhat spooky music playing to match her bold look.
Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour kept things simple, standing in one spot in her sparkly Chanel gown, while Smith was anything but still as he pranced his way around the booth wearing Louis Vuitton and clutching his dreads.
The 18-year-old son of actor Will Smith raved away to a trippy tune against alternating red, black and white backdrops.
Quantico star Priyanka Chopra pulled a classic over-the-shoulder turn against a pretty, floral background, while Serena Williams took her baby bump for a twirl in her gorgeous green Atelier Versace gown.
Sisters Kim Kardashian West and Kylie and Kendall Jenner, meanwhile, posed against the wall, with a cameo from rapper A$AP Rocky.
EXCLUSIVE PICS: Kylie Jenner Seems Disinterested in Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds at the Met Gala
But it was Dion who slayed the booth, sashaying around in her Atelier Versace leather, cutaway outfit and origami-inspired headpiece.
Crawling along the catwalk, flashing her killer legs and even popping off her heel and holding it to her ear like a telephone, the Canadian singer could do no wrong with her fierceness!

Hello there again! It's me again. I know you're bombarded with asks right now, and I feel sorry for ranting to you. You don't need to reply to me. I would totally understand. Strangers dumping their own emotional baggage to you can be emotionally inordinate. I admire your patience. Please bear with me a little longer. You don't need to read nor respond to this. Please don't ever feel obligated.
I will just share something to you today. I saw Tae's photos from the Celine party and Naomi's birthday. Not one in those photos did we see him smile genuinely. Do you think the issue took a toll on him? I feel like something's really off with all this. We still don't have the answer now, and we may not get the answer in the future. Not to judge him based on the photos shared, but he looked bothered or something. He even looked skinnier to me. I was debating with myself whether it was just due to his hair or make-up, but really, his face looked thinner.
Also, the media is acting kinda sus. Suddenly, they've been writing captions including Jennie. Vogue even mistook Lisa for Jennie. What the hell is going on? Could the PR theories be correct? This feels like a kdrama right now. I can't wait to see how this story unfolds.
I'm so happy to see Tae, though. I just really hope he's doing okay. I want him to go back to Korea now and be with Jungkook and Yeontan. I want him to stay away and take a rest for as long as he needs. This is all a mess and he's about to do his solo work soon. Ugh!
I hope you're doing okay, too. Thank you for being my emotional sounding board. Have a nice day!
Hi anon!
I am indeed being bombarded with asks. Aside from that, my live is being very lively at the moment. Work, kid, weddings, etc... are kicking my ass a bit. Yesterday I started feeling guilty for not being able to answer everyones asks as quickly as i'd like, but after sleeping on it I feel... this is my blog, I can deal with it as suits me best... so any anons still waiting... have a bit of patience with me :).
Tae's pic's did not concern me at all. I feel it's just his serious-model-Tae-face. Those pics were taking for marketing-purposes only, I'm sure Tae enjoyed the event inbetween taking some promotional shots. Park Bogum is with him, that to me is a good thing.
Media are always sus. We've long past the times when journalists actually went out to gather information. In this time of pr-teams and socialmedia, 'journalists' have become textwriters who base their articles on company-issued statements, social-media trends, and a bit of online research. So I always take those things with a grain of salt, and with my knowledge of how media works in mind (I myself work in marketing, and have a background in journalism).
Seeing how things play out in media right now, to me this absolutely falls in the pr-categorie. I would stil have fallen in that categorie if I thought Taennie was real.
There are rumors of Jk leavinf SK soon, either to Europe or US I believe, but it's all stuff I've read somewhere else. So could be that we won't see them together for a while still. They are both working hard though, and have had a lot of time together the last few months. This is their time to work hard.
Enjoy your day!

Hear me out - I actually think the video of Taehyung signing the magazine is true, and maybe even the video with his manager. BUT it's from last year when he was in Paris, because he was wearing last year's collection.
Then Jennie's PR team got hold of that video and recreated the look - easy to get an older Celine jacket and then pretend that what Tae signed was a recent magazine and not the older Vogue shoot.
That is, if this isn't tae and Jennie walking lmao
Also wonder if YG / HYBE have some leverage over Taehyung to get him to participate because this scandal does way less for him compared to Jennie.
Hi anon!
I am open to the footage being older than we think, but I also think it’s possible it all recent. What you describe seems very much work and having to fake a lot of things, while they could easily set it up with the actual persons at the actual time.
If Yg wanted someone to stunt with Jennie for promo, they could probably get many idols to do so (queer ones, but also straight ones.. just because they’ll get attention for it). So they don’t need it to be Tae (although they’re probably thrilled) and therefore they wouldn’t have needed to copy his exact look. They could just have used another idol, since that would also get Jennie attention enough.
I don’t think Hybe or YG has something over Tae. Except for his queerness, what could that even be? Hybe would get nothing but bad press by outing him, so they can’t hang it over his head for pressure and Tae is not that important for YG’s plans. I think Hybe just knew how to sell this to him. It’s promo, gives him a cover for his queerness, allowing for more artistic and personal freedom probably and I think that just did it. While the rumors and reactions are wild, his actual actions in this stunt are still minor. One walk, wearing jewelry, and posing for some pics.. there’s probably more to come.. but I think the benefits just seemed higher than the negatives to him. Not that he likes it, but with all jobs sometimes you have to do something you don’t like to get the desired results.
