Dabei trotzte der Sohn des ehemaligen Formel-1- und DTM-Fahrers Ralf Schumacher einem Reifenschaden nach einem Kontakt in der Startrunde. “Ich habe das ganze Rennen über an den Titel gedacht. Die Rookiemeisterschaft war von Anfang des Jahres an mein Ziel, jetzt habe ich es geschafft. Ich bin natürlich überglücklich. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass es reicht”, sagte Schumacher.

Mit 317 Punkten liegt der 16-Jährige vom Team US Racing CHRS in der Nachwuchswertung vor dem letzten Saisonlauf am Sonntag (ab 15.40 Uhr) uneinholbar vor seinem Konkurrenten Niklas Krütten (15, Trier, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.), der auf Platz acht ins Ziel fuhr. Serien-Champion Lirim Zendeli (18, Bochum, US Racing CHRS) feierte indes seinen neunten Saisonsieg.

Im Gegensatz zur Meisterschaft und Wertung des besten Newcomers ist das Rennen um die Vizemeisterschaft und Teamwertung noch nicht entschieden und verspricht Spannung bis zum Finalrennen am Sonntag. Dank des zweiten Platzes von Mick Wishofer (18, Österreich) holte sich US Racing CHRS die Führung in der Teamwertung von Van Amersfoort Racing zurück, die der niederländische Rennstall mit einem Dreifachsieg im Auftaktrennen übernommen hatte. Das Kerpener Team liegt vor dem 20. Saisonlauf mit 530 Punkten knapp vor den Niederländern (518).

Im ersten Rennen des Tages auf der Traditionsstrecke in Baden-Württemberg hatte der Belgier Charles Weerts (17) einen Dreifachtriumph von Van Amersfoort Racing mit seinem ersten Saisonsieg gekrönt. Hinter dem Belgier komplettierten Lawson und Vesti das Podium. Schumacher hatte bereits für eine Vorentscheidung im Kampf um den Rookie-Titel gesorgt. Der Bergheimer kam als Sechster ins Ziel und baute seinen Vorsprung auf Krütten schon vor dem zweiten Rennen auf 30 Punkte aus. Zendeli konnte nach einer Durchfahrtsstrafe nicht das Podium angreifen und wurde Siebter.

Im letzten Saisonrennen der Highspeedschule des ADAC am Sonntag (ab 15.40 Uhr) starten die ersten acht des zweiten Laufes in umgekehrter Reihenfolge, sodass Krütten, Achtplatzierter des zweiten Samstagrennens, von der Pole Position startet. Morgen wird noch um die Teamwertung gefightet und ich will den zehnten Saisonsieg. Dann hätte ich genau die Hälfte der Rennen gewonnen.”

Charles Weerts (Sieger des ersten Rennens, Van Amersfoort Racing): “Ich bin richtig, richtig froh über den ersten Sieg. Die harte Arbeit über das ganze Jahr mit meinen Ingenieuren und meinem Team hat sich heute ausgezahlt. Wir hatten zwar immer wieder ganz gute Ergebnisse über das Jahr, aber immer hat ein bisschen etwas gefehlt. Heute hat alles gepasst und ich bin wirklich froh darüber, dass ich heute gewonnen habe. Natürlich war es auch ein großer Sieg für das Team, weil wir ja auch noch um die Teamwertung fahren. Dass wir heute auf den ersten drei Plätzen gelandet sind, ist großartig.”

Frederik Vesti (Dritter im ersten Rennen, Van Amersfoort Racing): “Ich bin glücklich für das Team, dass wir heute auf der Eins, Zwei und Drei gelandet sind. Wir arbeiten jede Woche sehr hart. Mein dritter Platz ist gut, ich bin ja von Position zwölf gestartet. Dabei hatte ich viele Überholmanöver und ich glaube, dass ich das schnellste Auto auf der Strecke hatte – das ist schön. Aber auf der anderen Seite bin ich mit dem dritten Platz nicht glücklich. Der dritte Platz ist nichts für mich. Meine Erwartungen an die letzten beiden Saisonrennen sind aber recht hoch. Ich will gewinnen, ich bin Vierter in der Gesamtwertung. Ich muss weiter nach vorne kommen und Rennen gewinnen – dafür werde ich alles geben.”
