You know, for all this evil lair stuff, at the very least in HC, since Kim Possible is part of the cornerverse, you could totally just say Gabriel bought the lair and weapons from Hench Co. or something like that lol. Like Gabriel could legit know Señior Senior Senior and stuff too.

But also I'll be honest, if I had the kind stupid rich levels of money the rich characters have, I probably would build a whole ass secret lair too. Just look up Colin Furze on YouTube. The desire for an overly elaborate secret base/tunnel is real lol.

Modern day AU Junkrat (er. Jamison) only has one realistic career path and that's "insane homemade engineer youtuber" or whatever you call that "genre" of channel. Colin Furze, Hacksmith, Allen Pan, I Did A Thing... probably most accurately that last one honestly, though iirc Colin Furze actually did make a Rip-Tire IRL a few years back. Honestly I think "Junkrat" works as an alias in this context too. He's trying to make a job out of it but for some reason sponsors aren't super interested having their logo painted onto scrap metal exploding, but he doesn't budge on this being part of the ad read. Honestly can't decide if he's lost his limbs in this AU too or if they're just perpetually bandaged or in a cast for... obvious reasons.

Mako's the cameraman who mostly just likes seeing how Jamison's gizmos explode and is also there to take him to the hospital if needed. He has his own channel but it's just him doing Pachimari unboxings and other little trinket showcases with minimal editing and a messy recording setup, but he still gets views because people just enjoy the big gruff Australian man having such simple glee over squishy toys. His channel's called "Hog's Hoard" or something. He's not monetized or anything, it's all funded by his real job as an automotive shop worker or something, he just does it as a hobby.

I think Dean Dobbs said his shop shutting wasn’t his choice, but irl scaling back. Seems like they may carry on, but in a smaller scale just for dnp.

Tbh I can’t imagine they didn’t make money on the merch sold at wad, but I don’t know how well things were going before then. Dnp haven’t really released much merch for ages, outside of Dan’s tour. I don’t know how much the other creators irl work with we’re selling? Could be that people just haven’t been buying much merch over the last few years. A pandemic and cost of living crisis, creator merch isn’t exactly a priority.

interesting, and it would make even more sense if dnp were releasing regular content and merch related to it. but as you said they aren't :) as to other creators irl merch works with, i think lilsimsie is probably the most profitable (or Colin Furze? man, how did they get him?). Lucy Moon was always a "niche" creator, just like Savannah Brown. can't say much about Hazel and Carrie other than they are more focused on writing? and others i just don't know.

i agree that the pandemic probably played a role, also brexit and shipping costs. merch is always overpriced, so unless something is super popular or you're super fixated on it, chances are you're not gonna buy it. also, the creator market expanded since irl digital got those ones under their wing. og youtubers (and i'm using og loosely) aren't that profitable anymore unless they adapt to the algorithm or change platforms. so, stopping working with some of them only makes sense from a business perspective. still sad though.
