“ he’s still family, despite everything ”
ooough oooopfh my god. i couldn’t stop thinking abt New Era au and and and it ended up turning into an intense urge to draw some healing.
After Leo takes Marcus back to the island I imagine they form an unexpected bond where Marcus will lean on Leo during some of his worst moments, because Leo is the one that saw him at his most destructive and chose to reach out. They still bicker and get on each other’s nerves a lot!!! But!! Leo’s the one Marcus feels he can turn to when everything becomes too overwhelming (especially when Douglas is around).
URGHHH they’re FAMILY and it squeezes my heart!!!! NNGGHGHH!!!!!

Something interesting I noticed is that all the main villains of Lab Rats(not counting Elite Force or the Mighty Med part universe) are somehow related to Douglas.
Tumblr media
Marcus is an android created by Douglas and is basically Adam, Bree, and Chase’s brother/cousin
Victor Krane worked with Douglas. He also founded Douglas’ work after Douglas lost the funds/money from Donald and Davenport Industries.
Sebastian(along with Lexi and Tank. The other two students that helped Sebastian during the rebellion) was a bionic solider created by Krane. Kane never would have been able to create bionic soldiers without Douglas. He was the reason Krane found out about bionics.
S-1/Taylor another bionic solider created by Krane. Again, Krane only knew about bionics because of Douglas.
Giselle Vickers is Douglas ex-girlfriend from college. She later rebuilds Marcus(who was built by Douglas). She wants to use Douglas’ bionic tech to upgrade her robots/androids.
Tumblr media
Troy android created by Giselle to get Chase’s super intelligence. The trio’s bionic chips were created by Douglas.
Dr. Gao a science that worked with Krane after the events of “You Posted What?!”. He used Douglas’ research on bionics(that Krane had) to create the liquid bionic thing.
Even Adam, Bree, and Chase themselves go back to Douglas. Douglas is the trio’s biological father and the one who created and gave them their bionics(same with Daniel). He is even the reason that Donald was raising the trio in the first place. Douglas even gave Leo his bionic arm.
Tumblr media
There are few things in Lab Rats that don’t tie back to Douglas in some shape or form.
Donald and Tasha’s relationship
The creation of Eddie
Leo discovering the Lab and meeting the Trio(Adam, Bree, and Chase)
Tasha and Leo in general (that includes Grandma Rose/Tasha’s mother)
It’s interesting how Douglas actual impacted the story. Without Douglas, most of Lab Rats as we know it wouldn’t exist.

The Lab Rats sibling dynamics when they were little!
Adam and Bree
They had the most civil relationship when they were kids
Which isn't saying a lot, but it counts for something
They didn't argue any more then the normal set of siblings would
Bree never saw Adam as the "big brother," and she tended to act more mature then him, but Adam still made it very clear (at least to himself) that he would always be there for Bree
When Bree had a nightmare, she would just sit in her capsule and try to handle it herself
But Adam kept his capsule door cracked so he could hear if she was crying, and he would go to her
They played together a lot when they were kids, because Chase didn't play a lot with them
In general, they had a very chill sibling bond when they were kids, but they trusted each other with everything
Adam and Chase
The opposite of Adam and Bree oml
Even when they were kids, they were always fighting
Adam didn't use his strength on Chase when they were little, but he still tended to annoy Chase a lot
Because Chase liked reading, and drawing quietly, and using really big words
And Adam wanted to run around, and play cards, and preferably not talk at all if it wasn't necessary
So they got into a lot of arguments
Sometimes Chase was the one starting it, though
He would follow Adam around and make a lot of smartass comments
(Chase was a sassy kid)
Adam would get annoyed and both of them would lash out
They could barely be within 10 feet of each other (which sucked because they were stuck in a basement)
But on good days, they would team up and try to annoy Bree, together
As far as comforting each other goes, Chase would always go to Adam whenever he had a nightmare or when it was too loud, but he stopped doing that when he was around 7 or 8
Yeah, so not the best relationship there
Bree and Chase
From a very young age, Bree took on the role of Chase's main caregiver
Well... she tried to
The sentiment was there, but she's only one year older then Chase, so it was a little hard to be nurturing
Plus, Chase was a genius, even when he was a baby, so he really preferred to raise himself (whether that was healthy or not)
Bree teased Chase, but not as bad as Adam did
In return, Chase would annoy Bree
They weren't really friends when they were little, and they didn't like playing the same things, but they still developed somewhat of a sibling type bond
Chase never actively went to Bree when he was hurt and tried to get comfort, but he did enjoy her company when Adam and him were fighting
Bree, personally, liked playing with Adam more then Chase, but she would begrudgingly let him tag along with whatever she was doing
So in conclusion...
Adam and Bree were friends (kinda)
Adam and Chase were most definitely not
Bree and Chase had the more stereotypical sister-brother sibling relationship

Throwing this into the void ‘cause Idk if I’ll ever get to it but I really wanna write a fic about Douglas and the Rats before Donald found out about them. Maybe even a little bit after
‘Cause one of Douglas’s most consistent character traits, both pre- and post-redemption, is him considering the Rats to be his kids. He regularly references himself as their father and the thing that motivates him take a step back and reevaluate is Krane disregarding their safety
Dude’s got the moral backbone of a chocolate éclair but imagine getting ghosted out of your own company, your brother’s not returning your calls, and you go out to your secret lab only to find your 3 super toddlers just fucking gone

concept: Adam goes to Seabrook and joins the cheer squad
yoooooo, I’m still salty over the fact that Disney didn’t let Adam stay on the Mission Creek cheer squad, but YES let’s take him to Seabrook just bc we can.
also, ummmmm this got long. lowkey turned into a whole AU because I had to make sense of everything I guess, so my headcanons are under the cut!
Tumblr media
- The Davenports move to Seabrook after a close call on the bionic secret almost getting exposed (early lab rats era) and Davenport smelling a potential mission with zombies getting integrated into human school, aka he pretty much takes the humans’ word for it and assumes they’re dangerous.
- Adam and Bree both take an immediate interest in joining the cheer squad. Bree, because she realizes the squad is Seabrook’s epitome of popularity and wants in, and Adam because he’s always had a passion for cheerleading.
- They both pass the try-outs with flying colors, the Aceys especially impressed with Adam’s ability to easily toss girls in the air on his own (and relieved at Bree’s ability to move fast enough to catch them all). So Adam becomes a base and Bree becomes a spotter.
- Bucky had spoken against them joining the squad because he found the siblings’ talents to be “suspiciously freakish,” but in the end, he was outvoted.
- For cheer initiation, Adam and Bree are paired up together, expecting Zombietown to resemble a villain’s lair like any of the countless they’ve seen on their missions, but are shocked to find that it’s a town like any other: families and children just trying to live life in peace on their side of the wall. Exactly the kind of the people they’ve been trained to protect. Bree uses her super-speed to trick Bucky and the Aceys into thinking they’ve egged the house so they can keep their places on the squad, but relay to Chase/Leo/Mr. Davenport that their “zombie problem” may not actually be a problem.
- From there, the Davenfam does their research on zombie-ism and conclude that the only real threat in Seabrook is the rampant anti-zombie sentiment on the human side of the border. Chase and Mr. Davenport set to work on inventing a more effective/foolproof Z-band while Leo does one of the things he does best: activism. Adam and Bree are unfortunately limited in their cheer circle, but Adam is less afraid to vocally defend zombies - no filter, plus we all know he tends to speak from the heart.
- Adam is clearly the cheer squad’s new superstar, gaining fast friendships and admiration from his teammates who appreciate his unique personality in a way it hadn’t been back at Mission Creek. They couldn’t care less about smarts or academics, and are more than happy to follow Adam’s excited, often weird trains of thought. Many come around to his positive view on zombies, especially after Zed starts winning football games.
- His positive energetic approach to cheer is contagious, and as Adam’s popularity grows, Bucky becomes more and more agitated having to share the spotlight with a newbie. A newbie who supports zombies nonetheless, as if his cousin weren’t enough. He’s constantly throwing rude-ass shade Adam’s way, often coaching him too harshly just out of jealously, but Adam rarely picks up on it, being as… full of potential as he his.
- (Adam’s cheerful friendly replies only irritate Bucky more).
- When Addison and Bree 1 (as Addison’s best friend is delegated) start the zombie cheer that gets them kicked, Adam joins right in and gets kicked as well. He loves cheerleading, but it’s still his duty to protect the innocent, whatever that entails. It’s clear the squad suffers from his loss and the Aceys want him back - at least for the competition - but Bucky is too prideful to ask.
- Bree or “Bree 2″ is too afraid of losing popularity in the moment, but later leaves the squad of her own volition once Bucky starts eliminating the rest of the pro-zombie members.
- After human-zombie harmony gets restored at the end of Z-O-M-B-I-E-S (in Seabrook High at least), Adam and Bree 2 are reinstated on the squad, as well as Addison and Bree 1.
- Once Bucky gets over himself a little, he and Adam actually grow to be great friends, bonding over their love of cheer and respect for each other’s skills. Bucky admires the way Adam doesn’t care what anyone thinks and simply lets his heart guide his actions - that and whatever other random impulses he gets throughout the day. It inspires him to care less about his own image, and more often say what he really feels.
- Adam brings all the dogs to Zombietown and somehow ends up bonding over them with Zoey, so now they’re “pet pals”, whatever that means.
- Bree 1 paints his nails the Seabrook green-and-pink before every competition for good luck, a tradition he whole-heartedly believes in.
- Adam and Bonzo often engage in deep philosophical conversations about the meaning of life, not that anyone would ever guess listening in. Bonzo will only speak zombie, which Adam has zero understanding of, but the spiritual connection between deep-thinking individuals can bridge the gap of any language. (”That’s not a real thing, Adam.” “Oh, Chase. Just because you don’t have the gift, doesn’t mean I don’t.”)
- Adam creates cheer chants to help him memorize material for school or important mission instructions. Ok, but just imagine him in the middle of a highly volatile mission trying to remember something and then suddenly breaking out into a full cheer chant with matching dance moves and all. Bad guys are very thrown off.
- The cheer squad movie nights tend to always happen at the Davenports’ because ~billionaire media room~ and also because they are very efficient with the popcorn, i.e., an industrial-sized bag + heat vision. Adam is an even more valuable edition than they think.
- META HC: Every time the cheer squad breaks into song musical-style, the effect is ruined thanks to one off-key Adam who can’t sing to save his life.
- This whole time, Chase and Leo were chillin in computer club with Eliza.

Dude tell us ab the LR Descendants AU that sounds so fun I would like to hear the infodump
DUDE. Dude.
okay so this is a jumbled mess bc honestly this just started as an excuse to make silly little animatics in my head to my silly little songs LOLZ. BUT. I’m an idea man at heart. So here’s just a bunch of loosely connected ideas (that you can probably poke a ton of holes in). Just do what I did and take whatever you like and RUN W IT
- The VKs are Marcus and Skylar because Marcus is obvi and Skylar being evil was fun…. and also!! I think they should b friends!!!!
- Was pondering making Oliver and Bree the other VKs to fill out the cast and so I can unite my power couples and let them all be evil together. There is no real conclusion 2 this pondering bc I couldn’t decide which version I liked more AUWGh
- All the big baddies are on the Isle, so Douglas, Krane, Mr. Terror, Annihilator, Giselle, etc etc you get the gist
- Donald snuck the rats off the Isle where Douglas had created them before it descended into chaos and was closed off, and they now go to Auradon Prep where they continue to pretend to be average students
- People in Auradon know about bionics, but only the context of the Isle, so the general association is bionics = bad
- Leo takes the place of Ben, he helps keep their secret under wraps and coaches them on how to blend in
- Davenport constantly prepares them for the worst case scenario, telling them they have to keep their secret at all costs
- Bree tries her hardest to pretend she IS a normal student, hoping one day she’ll just forget that she isn’t. She never asked for this in the first place. She hates that she has to feel different at all.
- Adam doesn’t understand why it has to be a secret. He’s pretty sure if they told the truth and explained it to people, they could help others see that they’re not so bad. Chase is always telling him it’s “not that simple.”
- Because Chase is high strung. Really, truly, high strung. He doesn’t want to know what would happen to him or his family if everyone found out they’re like the people on the Isle. He doesn’t want to mess up whatever’s going on with Kaz by revealing he’s a freak and has been lying this whole time. He also doesn’t know when he also started resenting the “different” part of himself.
- Kaz and Oliver are their friends and have seen them doing weird unexplainable things before, but Leo lies and says it’s because they actually have superpowers
- Great, another thing to lie about!
- At least we get that Leo + Kaz + Oliver friendship that we all needed
- Attempts to integrate and rehabilitate the Isle and Auradon begin with bringing in VKs to Auradon Prep
- Idk what the balance between the Descendants universe and the LRMMEF universe is here so the wand is either the same or it’s the Arcturion or some weird mix of both. Anyway it’s The Plot Thing.
- Rats have REALLY got to hide their secret now bc tensions are high and they don’t want to be associated w the VKs
- Oliver and Kaz are truthfully on the fence about the ordeal because they used to know Skylar before things went bad. They want to believe she’s not beyond help but they also know the things she’s done since the Isle was closed off, and they aren’t sure just how far gone she is.
- Conflict is v family centric w other interpersonal conflicts mixed in
- The rats have to choose between risking the safety of Auradon or risking being potentially hated and ostracized by their friends and peers in their attempts to appeal to Marcus and Skylar
there’s??? too much and yet too little to say abt this bc again. Really Great Idea Man, less good Execution Man. and still I’m not sure which version of the VKs I like more bc it would sort of make sense for Oliver to be a VK since his mother is on the Isle and I like the idea of Skylar meeting Bree and being like “hey. fuck all your inhibitions. everyone sucks so why not just go be evil.”
but THERE IT IS!!! PLS add on or build off this or tweak it or whatever you’d like!! It’s been bouncing around in my brain and I watched Descendants 2 last night so yes we r thinking. Also, I wrote most of this in my notes app at like 1am while sick as balls so this probably makes even less sense than expected. Just know this is how my brain looks on paper.
bonus stuff I’m tossing in (mostly just to talk about the soundtrack teehee):
- Pretty sure this whole thing started because I thought Did I Mention was so flamebrain coded. I’m still right about that btw.
- If Only is also very much Chase inner struggle moment
- One way that I get to still have the 4 VKs for Ways To Be Wicked is that I pull the same trick they did in Descendants 2 and the whole number is all a daydream in Marcus and Skylar’s heads. Camera pans out and they’re both just like “sigh… wish they were evil and gay for us… oh well, time to go make them worse.” This is me eating my cake and eating it too.
- I don’t know WHEN or HOW Chillin’ Like A Villain would ever be plot relevant but it made me think of Skylar and Marcus talking to Oliver (the crisis that would be for my poor boy. someone help his sappy ass). Anyways it’s just a good song listen to it RN.
- okay yes I know that technically it’s a song from Z-O-M-B-I-E-S but LET ME HAVE THIS bc if you skip like the first 20 seconds of context in Someday - Ballad… it’s very marliver 2 me. Imagine they get their shit more figured out off screen and just get to be cute n stuff except Marcus still has to lie about not being evil ouuGhuhhggggh. It would b funny.
- One Kiss is also self indulgent marliver with identical setup to Descendants 3 (despite the fact that that movie was…ahem. i mean it was definitely a movie) bc I LOVE that song and HELLO the inner conflict of wondering if true love’s kiss even applies to you because you’re an android and what if there’s no way to save him, what if you’re not even capable of loving him like you think you do?? (but then Oliver wakes up, and it’s the best answer he could’ve gotten <33)
- Good Is The New Bad from Wicked World doesn’t have anything to do with anything but I’m saying right here and now that it is TOO catchy
- also Evil (from Wicked World as well) has been on my Marcus Davenport playlist since the beginning. needed to be said

Straight transmasc donald? tell me more.
HAHAHAFSJHA. Okay I KNOW it doesn’t make a lot of sense but. Something about him just doesn’t have me sold on him being cishet. Like I cannot explain it but the moment he walked in the door holding Tasha bridal style and being all disgustingly romantic had me thinking hmm. hmmmm.
Also, and I could be wrong here, I don’t remember him ever perpetuating any weird ideas about masculinity? There might be some moments I’m forgetting. But I don’t think he ever like, emasculated Chase or something the way Adam and Bree do (don’t quote me on that tho). Also if he’s not at least a LITTLE gender how the HELL did he get all these trans kids. Yknow. It just runs in the family.
TLDR something about being a goofy self-centered tech billionaire with questionable ethics gives off the itsiest trans vibes to me. Just a bit. He can have SOME. And if I’m not actively headcanoning this I’m firmly believing that he’s just A Guy Trying His Best (and failing 💔)

The show makes such an effort to say “Chase is like Douglas!” on multiple occasions but he’s NOT.
Chase is Donald’s son, down to his ego, his selfishness, his control freak nature and even his immaturity. But he’s also nerdy, goofy, innovative, and driven. He takes pride in creating. He’s the best and worst of his father, just like a lot us are to our parents. Chase says himself that Donald is their dad, not because of biology, but because he raised them, and you can really see that in Chase’s character. He is his dad’s son, through and through!!
They’re a FAMILY [sobs & wails]

I just need everyone to be aware of the fact that, in the episode where Chase and Adam compete for student of the semester, Adam has a poster on the side of his party bus that reads “A vote for me…is a vote for ME!!!!” and yes it is The Best.
