I wanted to draw Rell with a cute Afro puff hair style and the skin developed from there. It was either pentakill or some dragonmancer rework and I chose the fantasy concept because I’m not really in tune with metal and hard rock aesthetics, I don’t listen to that music I’m more in the surface punk side of things lol

I made up tigermancer since we have phoenix and dragon mancer and they are based on the four sacred beasts based on the cardinal directions the other lines would be tiger and turtle. I didn’t wanna do dragonmancer because metal scales would kill me, I didn’t wanna design chainmail. I don’t normally draw dragons so it would’ve been a severe breach of the comfort zone. I don’t normally draw tigers either but I like kitty so that was that lol.

Everyone wake up new Seol skin here is Dragonmancer/Fae Dragon Seol

I had an idea to put EDG Phel in the Dragonmancer skinline and then put Seol in that skinline to match. I still kept the idea of her being a dragon rather then a bunny vastayan from EDG Seol too, she’s like the spirit of all the fae dragons living in her forest.

She's the forgotten dragon spirit of the Fae Dragons and the one who gave her power to Ashe as her home and her source of power was destroyed by Eternal Dragon Brand. She's forgotten by the people, as her magic is very weak beacuse of her forest's destruction. EDG Phel (Who I like to name something like Platinum Dragon Aphelios, if he was in the Dragonmancer universe) finds her in the forest and promises to protect her, and rebuild it.

Since Rakan’s dragonmancer skin finally got it’s splash text, I decided to make a skin for Zephyr as well

Their lore is as follows,

Zephyr took a vow alongside Rakan to be by Xayah’s side, to fight for the magic of their homeland. They were both faced with manifestations of their deepest fears, tasked with overcoming the darkness within themselves. Finally quelling the fear that had plagued them for so long, Zephyr was granted the power of the Emerald Dragon, their mental fortitude and prosperity exemplified by their crystalline wings.

Okay I've been home since yesterday, but I'm finally fronting so here are the SB thoughts now that I've seen the content:

I actually like all the skins, even if I don't agree with some of the champion choices, though there has.. rarely been a line where I've agreed with every champ choice so oh well. All of them look as good as the first batch in game in my opinion and the legendary is probably my favorite one for this year.

That said I wish Karma got one because she is.. literally the Spirit of Ionia. That's her entire thing the existance of "Karma" is a being passed down generations of people. Only reason I can think of is that she got Tranquility as her last skin, but I still think they could've just given her SB anyway. Sett has a dragonmancer skin and got a legendary so. 🤷‍♀️ They could've used Soraka's slot considering how many skins Soraka has by this point, but I like the skin anyway so I don't mind I guess.

Syndra looks gorgeous and I wish they had given her the legendary because her old model and outdated voiceover certainly needs it... I like that she's happy in this skin universe she deserves it. Plus I actually do like her midscope update so #Syndrasweep for Syndra fans and players like me.

I don't like Sett's lore the entire half-and-half thing is so stupid to me in some skin lines by this point that I instantly dislike it the moment I see it sorry. But the skin itself is gorgeous and looks godly VFX wise in game, I like the voice over and I'm happy for him being bisexual, huge patch for Sett players.

Darius shouldn't be in this skinline. Every other character makes sense or at least with their spirit blossom lore they do, but for the love of god there are like 10 other ionian or even noxian characters you could've given this to. I am so fucking tired of seeing Darius be put into skinlines like this where they could put in ANYONE ELSE and have it work. Katarina and Talon who were previously mentioned in Cass' lore from the first event, Riven is already a spirit of war so you could've done something else. Or if they wanted a spirit of war 2.0 they could've given it to me, just saying. It fits my lore and I'm not Darius, plus Syndra is in this batch so you know how Riot is with their zendra. They could've fully committed to it. 🤷‍♀️ Or how me and Yi match skins in 10 different universes or something so it could've been it again.

I would've picked Vex for a skin slot over Tristana, but I think Trist still fits in and Teemo has a skin in this universe already so the choice makes sense to me at least. The two recalls are a really cute idea that I'm glad they included.

Eve being a good spirit was a bit confusing, but I love the skin and I don't mind her being one of the good spirits in this universe.

I like Yorick, but they could've given him more attention with the skin because I feel like out of everyone he's the one with the more underwhelming effects.

TL;DR I really like the batch, but I think they should've just given the Darius slot to like.. anyone else. And in my opinion Syndra deserved to have a legendary more than Sett, but I love the skin in the end so it's whatever to me. #Settpheliossweep or something, happy for shippers of it.

Season 2024 Look Ahead

A very quick summary of the dev video posted an hour ago. This summary is mostly skin/champion-related with very little regarding gameplay.

Skarner VGU is very close to being released

An Arcane character will be receiving a VGU early next year -> this was specifically called an "Arcane-inspired VGU", aiming to bring "their Arcane version to the rift" featuring updated visuals, voice lines, and gameplay, which leads me to believe that this character is Viktor though Singed and maybe even Heimerdinger also seem possible.

Shyvana VGU will be released in 2025 after the Arcane character VGU -> her VGU will focus more on visuals and expanding her lore rather than overhauling it. from the concept art, they appear to be working on making her buffer, which was, from what I saw, a common grievance about her Immortal Journey splash art.

Dragon ADC Smolder has been revealed. His abilities can be found in a video posted by SkinSpotlights.

Mel's mother, Ambessa Medarda, will be released as a champion and "won't be for the faint of heart in game".

Arcane S2 will bring new gameplay and new skins -> based on the trailer, both Singed and Warwick appear to be contenders for receiving an Arcane skin. Viktor, especially as a fan-favorite, also seems likely, though I'm not sure how that might work if it is released before his supposed VGU.

The following champions will be receiving a prestige skin in the first half of 2024: Rakan, Ezreal, Kindred, Evelynn, Kayle. Rakan's has already been revealed to be Prestige Dragonmancer Rakan. Ezreal's prestige will be for this year's Lunar New Year skinline, Heavenscale, which will focus more on an ancient thematic similar to Lunar Revel.

Other champions receiving a Heavenscale skin include Lee Sin, Kai'Sa, Master Yi, Diana, Janna, and Smolder. -> this makes Kai'Sa's second Lunar New Year skin when counting Wild Rift's Lunar Fairy Kai'Sa (third if you also include her Special Edition/Prestige), Ezreal's second (third, again, if you count his prestige), and Diana's third without any variants (bc she's the moon get it).

New Primal Ambush skinline revolves around tiger thematics and draws heavy inspiration from Southeast Asian cultures. Champions receiving a Primal Ambush skin include Vi, Talon, Sivir, and Riven, each with icons.

Porcelain, Faerie Court, PROJECT, and Blood Moon will be returning in the first half of the year -> this was not included in the video but was posted by BBB: the champions receiving a Porcelain skin include Kindred (prestige), Graves, Darius, Miss Fortune, Morgana, Irelia, and Aurelion Sol.

Old legendary skins will be revisited to receive loading screen borders.

Rammus and Olaf will probably be receiving skins this year.
