Drake is one of the most successful artists in the music business. He's been at the top of the game since ages. He is very active in several spheres of the entertainment industry, be it music production, NBA, fashion and so on. 'Started from the bottom' is among Drake's most popular songs and it was released on 1st February 2013 as part of his 3rd studio album 'Nothing Was the Same'. Song Meaning, Story and Review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RubBzkZzpUA Drake gained a lot of traction from this song. Back in 2013, he was a star but not at the level that he is today. A lot of people associated him with this song when it was released. It talks about humble beginnings and tough times which later transformed into heights of success in not just the music game but also business in general. Several fans questioned if his times were actually all that tough as he was talking about in the video. His parents had separated and he was living with his mother in Toronto, Canada. He spent most of his childhood in Weston Road and he described his family financial conditions as 'very poor, like broke'. Later on, he and his mother moved to Forest Hill when he was in 6th grade which was an affluent neighbourhood. He was into several disciplines at the time. He was an actor in 'Degrassi' at age 14 while also heavily into music. He released his debut mixtape 'Room for improvement' in 2006 and second mixtape 'Comeback Season' in 2007. He mentions in his lyrics about having quarrels with his mother and uncle. It could be hinting at the fact that they didn't approve of his endeavors. Drake knew the importance of connections and teamwork as he emphasizes his team in the lyrics. At the same time, he mentions how crucial it is to have true friends and know who has good intentions for you. The music video is all about him having a good time in the most luxurious amenities one can possibly have. The song can come across as rant to those who didn't believe in him and at the same time a motivational one for people to follow their dreams. That was my opinion on the song. Let me know what you all think of it in the comments below.

1. Little Brother (Phonte, Big Pooh & 9th Wonder)
Tumblr media
First offering: The Listening (2003)
Highlighting the enduring influence of 'The Listening' on contemporary rap and its impact on hip-hop's major players, particularly Drake, who stands as a prime example. The collaborative efforts between Drake and Little Brother on 'The Comeback Season' Mixtape underscore their creative connection. Noteworthy is Drake's public acknowledgment of Phonte during his acceptance of the BMI Songwriter of the Year Award in 2011, underscoring the lasting imprint of Little Brother's influence in the hip-hop landscape.
Currently on my second listen of "The Minstrel Show" released in 2005, and I'm appreciating the inventive approach with the TV show format. It's pretty dope how they embody the show. This album reveals a different facet of their artistic expression, and it's clear that they've evolved since.

DRAKEVEMBER PART 16: A spaced out review of Comeback Season by Drake
Tumblr media
via rateyourmusic
This album felt longer than every other Drake album I've listened to, and that's saying a lot considering some of their runtimes. The music isn't bad, per se, but it's so mediocre and there's so much of it that it just becomes tiring. The bars are an improvement over the ones on Room For Improvement, and they're not as derivative of Lil Wayne as they are on So Far Gone, so that's a point in its favor, though. The one track that stuck with me is City Is Mine, which has a beat that had me in shock with how incredibly fucking goofy it is. I beg you to listen for yourself. I'm gonna be thinking about it all day.
SCORE: 2/5

Last week was his birthday 🥳
what’s your favorite song/album from him
October’s Very Own: Celebrating Drake’s 37th Birthday With Our Favorite Photos Of Him Over The Years
Written by Davonta Herring
Source: Prince Williams / Getty
One of the greatest artists of this generation turned 37 today. Click inside to check out some of our favorite pictures of The 6 God over the years.
Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At the age of five, Drake’s mother Sandra (who worked as an English teacher and florist) and his father Dennis (who was a drummer) divorced. Drake and his mother remained in Toronto while his father returned to Memphis. As a youth, Drake was a very promising hockey player. He was forced to stop playing due to a neck injury. At just 10 years old, Drake showed an affinity for the arts when he appeared in a comedic sketch which aired during the 1997 NHL Awards. This eventually led to Drake dropping out of school at 15 to pursue his acting career. He portrayed Jimmy Brooks on the Canadian teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation. Drake supported his mother and himself with the money he made from the show. Even after making a name for himself as an actor, Drake was still really drawn to music. He would oftentimes show up to set late after spending nights recording music.
Drake released his debut mixtape Room for Improvement in 2006 and his second mixtape Comeback Season in 2007. The success of some of the tracks on Comeback Season caught the attention of Young Money’s founder, Lil Wayne. Tunechi invited Drake to join his Carter III tour. While on the road, the two recorded multiple songs together. In 2009, some of the tracks they recorded ended up on Drake’s third and most critically acclaimed mixtape So Far Gone. It debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 and spawned a bidding war from various labels. Drake ended up choosing to sign with Young Money Entertainment and the rest was basically history. Thank Me Later, Drake’s debut album, was released on June 15, 2010. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with sales of over 447,000 copies in its first week.
Over the course of his illustrious career, Champagne Papi has been nothing short of a legendary hit maker. The five-time Grammy-Award winner has released eight studio albums, one collaborative album, three compilation albums, four extended plays and seven mixtapes. With over 170 million records sold worldwide, he is among the best-selling music artists in history. Last week, ‘First Person Shooter’ (feat J. Cole) reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It became the 13th Drake hit to reach number one status, tying himself with Michael Jackson. The only artists he’s trailing are The Beatles (who have 20), Mariah Carey (who has 19), Rihanna (who has 14)The Boy extended his mark for the most number one debuts with nine, the most top five hits with 41 and the most top tens with 77.
Alongside his longtime collaborator 40, Drake founded the OVO Sound record label in 2012. The following year, he became the “global ambassador” of the Toronto Raptors, joining their executive committee. Drake began collaborating with Brent Hocking on the bourbon whiskey Virginia Black in 2016. In addition to these things, he also heads the OVO fashion label and the Nocta collaboration with Nike. Graham also  founded the production company DreamCrew and the fragrance house Better World. Last year, he obtained partial ownership of Italian soccer club A.C. Milan. It’s very safe to say that whether it’s within music or outside of it, Drake is a huge part of the culture and continues to show that year after year. We can’t wait to see what else he has up his sleeve for the next year. HAPPY 37TH BIRTHDAY DRIZZY!

7 Best New Music inclusive Megan Stallion and more
Tumblr media
Check out this week's top new music, which includes works by NIKI, PinkPantheress, Megan Thee Stallion, and more. Include these new songs in your playlist for the weekend. 1.Megan Thee Stallion, Traumazine Her most recent album, Traumazine, updates us on her life since yelling out Houston and the Hotties at the Grammys while revisiting the themes and content of her first. We nevertheless view the release of her second full-length album as a blessing. Some of the early favorites on Traumazine are "Her," a club-ready anthem with a sticky minimalist beat, and "Anxiety," a clear-eyed assessment of feelings and being alive with Meg's trademark swagger and honesty. Similar to Eminem and Ye, who wrote ruder, sadder, and funnier songs about their relationships with the public in their early albums, Megan is currently writing songs about her interactions with the public that are more frank, sad, and humorous. The album features an all-star roster of interesting collaborators, including Lucky Daye, Rico Nasty, and Latto. https://youtu.be/Z3qfL3bktl0 2. PinkPantheress, Sam Gellaitry, “Picture in my mind” One of the most anticipated musicians of 2021, PinkPantheress, has spent the past several months working with artists like WILLOW and Mura Masa. She has also remixed a Drake song with GoldLink. We have already played this PinkPantheress collaboration repeatedly. The duo's infectious duet, with its ideal late-summer atmosphere, is accompanied by a dancey little electronic beat. No lies were found when Gellaitry referred to PinkPantheress as "a visionary" in a news release on a squiggly track called “Picture In My Mind”. https://youtu.be/SIHS1lLzqOo 3. NIKI, “Nicole" Our new favorite tracks are all on NIKI's sophomore album Nicole, which was just published. NIKI is one of the most exciting pop performers of recent years. Nicole includes compelling, intriguing tracks like the frantic love mayhem of "Keeping Tabs" and the lovely longing in "Backburner," in addition to fantastic singles like "High School in Jakarta." "High School in Jakarta," NIKI's most recent release, has received over 4 million streams so far. Since its debut last Friday, the song's music video has received over 3 million views, making it NIKI's fastest video to ever reach this milestone. https://youtu.be/d4CF4km1rUQ 4.Yeah Yeah Yeahs, “Burning” The new single from the New York City indie legends Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "Burning," the latest taste of their upcoming album Cool It Down, is a welcome aftershock to the band's recent comeback. The polished new track features the group's distinctive noir disco style. Karen O claimed that the incendiary composition, which was created by Andrew Wyatt and included lyrics and inspiration from The Four Seasons' song "Beggin," was also influenced by an actual inferno. https://youtu.be/vSffKUyr0lk 5. Chappell Roan, “Femininomenon” One of the pop stars who is currently rising the fastest is Chappell Roan. She has been on a big roll ever since her song "Pink Pony Club" gained cult-like notoriety in 2020, and she shows no signs of slowing down. The production of her new song, "Femininomenon," which has a long name, is chaotic. The song begins with the noise of a dirt bike in the distance, and yet manages to move in a million different directions while still fitting together so nicely. The chorus turns everything up to 100 and rhymes "Get it hot like Papa John" with "It's a femininomenon," as the lyrics and pre-chorus lament online love and cheating guys. The tiny voice that sings "Can someone give me a fucking beat" by Chappell before the chorus begins. It's all so exciting and loud, but also so complex. https://youtu.be/ouyqexyf5eU 6. Danger Mouse & Black Thought feat. A$AP Rocky and Run the Jewels: “Strangers“ This Friday, August 12, sees the official release of Danger Mouse and Black Thought's joint album. A$AP Rocky and Run the Jewels are featured on one of the more intriguing collaborations on the tracklist, which was revealed on August 9. Underneath Black Thought's incisive and boastful verse, Danger Mouse's looping fuzzy drums and clacks tickle the ears and the intellect. https://youtu.be/yPdHD1neCV8 7. Alvvays: “Easy on Your Own?” One of this summer's most welcome shocks has continued to be the long-awaited appearance of Alvvays. Our second preview of Blue Rev, the band's first new album in five years (Oct. 7, Polyvinyl), features their most recent hit "Easy on Your Own?” When Blue Rev was first announced last month, Alvvays delivered the album's opening single, "Pharmacist," and now the follow-up track, "Easy on Your Own?" It's a quick burst of the band's recognizable dream-pop sound with intricate soundscapes that haven't been included before in their repertoire. https://youtu.be/tWfG7F-TAWY Read the full article

PERCEPTION CHANGES
PERCEPTION CHANGES
January 30, 2022
One day I was listening to The Boy, (Drizzy Drake), I believe it was No Friends in the Industry, and I was like wow its crazy how menacing Drake sounds now. I remember when he was the bud of soft jokes, he may get those jokes still but its nowhere near how it was pre Nothing Was the Same. It had me thinking like man perception really changes.
Perception can be defined as “ a way of regarding, understanding, or interpreting something; a mental impression “. I vividly recall Drake’s original reception among rap fans. He was the loverboy way before CLB, but thats it, He was the guy who rapped extremely well but he was just a “soft guy” in his feelings. I never felt Drake was soft, if that’s the case everybody whoever made a R&B song is soft. People was letting his R&B side define him because that was extremely popular with women. So if you cater to women somehow you'‘re “soft”.
Anyways…
I believe perception started to changed for Drake starting with his 2015 release “If You’re Reading This Its Too Late”. Some may regard it as his best album and if it isn’t its definitely his most controversial release. As we all know, Drizzy’s pen was brought into question when Meek Mill exposed via twitter that Quentin Miller was the ghostwriter behind the most coveted singles on the project. Hip Hop purists were left flabbergasted, “oh no the boy didn’t write his raps for this album”, “how long has this going on???”, “is his 6pack even real"???!!”, by the way no one said that but pillars in the hip hop community were disappointed in the news. However, the real Drake fans did not give a single damn that he had help with his hits. We heard the demos, we were elated Quentin did not release the records as the main recording artist.
As most can recall when Meek called out Drake many thought it was the end of Aubrey Graham as we know it, and if this was to go into an audio world war, Meek and boisterous voice would surely come out the victor. What’s so ironic is, back in 2013 during our college days me and my roommates had a hypothetical argument about who would win in a battle, Drake or Meek Mill?
Me and one of my roommates instantly said Drake. My other roommate said Meek without a second thought and his reasoning was the same as any other rap fan, “Meek was a battle rapper this is what he do!!”. That mattered to me none beloved, I knew Drake is a perpetual student of the game and I recalled some spats he had during the Comeback Season era. I knew he would be more than ready but the world didn’t.
So Drake released Back to Back after the warning shot Charged Up and from this moment he began to look like the big bad wolf to me. Check it out, he drops Summer Sixteen which was basically a taunt for the first half of the song. Then he makes songs like Free Smoke, talking reckless saying anyone can get it. He gets so deep in his aggressive Drake rap bag people started rumors that he had XXXtentacion killed. And people supposedly had evidence! Wait… but this was just the guy everyone called soft but now people believe he’s capable of murdering bubbling rap stars.
It doesn’t make things better when he then drops a song called “Mob Ties” bragging about his “alleged” Houston street connections. It doesn’t stops there beloved, he gets on the 2019 song of the year, SICKO MODE and had everybody singing about driving down Ye’s block and shooting it up lmao! Oh you thought it was over??? No!! During the 2020 quarantine he dropped a viral tiktok inspired hit “Toosie Slide”. Everyone’s dancing but he spends the whole song basically talking about murdering someone and no one batted a eye! lmao.
So how did perception change from softest guy in the universe to 6God Badmon??! It’s quite simple actually,
I. CONSISTENCY
Often first impressions are last impressions, meaning what someone first meet you as that’s how you are always perceived at them. If you was the square dude that wasn’t known for having money or being flashy but years later you turn into a flashy street guy, no one’s gonna think hey that’s “flashy street guy”. They’re going to think why is “square basic dude” trying to be “flashy street guy”.
The only way we’ll believe “flashy street guy” is who he is, is if he consistently shows us that. We gotta see you flashing more than a year or two, and its gotta be gradual, you just can’t pop up on the gram with a stick in your hand when you just had a Charles Darwin book in your hand. Boy go sit down!!
Drizzy didn’t just start popping up outta nowhere with more aggressiveness in his raps it was build up. He let us know in 2013 on Pound Cake/Paris Morton 2 “Screw all that happy to be here ish yall want me on”. He was being bold saying yall gon respect, when his respect was tested for the first time on a huge level with Meek he responded accordingly. Another thing his image changed, he wasn’t scrawny Degrassi drake. He got muscles and a beard and looked like he was capable of physical damage. So the progressive tough talk was easier to digest.
This went longer than I intended, but all in all I wanted to make my point that someone perception of you can change over time. Various factors must come into play first. It even happened in my own life but that is a story for another day.

Note
No one notices that they do this every Drake album? Say it's mid, then a few months or a year and a half later they say it was good. Even a classic. They did it with Take Care, Nothing Was The Same, Views (if you were a Drake fan online in 2016 you remember how bad it got), More Life, Scorpion, and now they're doing it to CLB. I'm not buying into the hate train, I'm trusting my instincts.
CLB is a bar heavy return to form, with clear influence off Comeback Season and So Far Gone, down to all the Texas homage and references, with as many beat switches as switches from singing to rapping as on NWTS. Give it a while. They'll be saying it's the finest thing he's ever put out 🙄
I mean I thought scorpion, views and more life are all mid by his standard and I still think that to this very day so 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s just my opinion though. Like don’t get me wrong, the bar is high for him because he’s got two classics (Take Care and NWTS). If another rapper had made, let’s say, Scorpion then it would have been received better by fans and the hip hop community. He’s been giving us the same formula over and over again since Views, which he is a curse and a gift depending on how you personally feel
