supernatural s10e13 halt & catch fire (w. eric charmelo, nicole snyder)
maybe i should rewatch halt and catch fire. i watched it as it aired so it's been a minute. lee pace as a very messy bisexual disaster in the early pc industry through to internet times. and mackenzie davis was amazing. really well done show. i recall the first season was a little too hard on the mad men-esque feel but really got into its own stride in subsequent seasons (it was airing on amc at the end of mad men's run which was mid 2014 and this spn ep aired feb 2015. the phrase itself is an old computing term). anyway!
is the mark making him ogle the college girls too? cmon
DEAN And Trini is? SAM Ah, you have to excuse my partner. When it comes to technology, he’s a little behind. Uh…he just learned how to poke on Facebook. JANET Uh, um, Trini is the nav app we were using. It – It’s like a talking map. You’re Gen X. Right.
well, addressing the age difference of it all LOL. i think of dean/jensen as my age but he is technically 1 (2) years older than me. i'm in the no-man's land of 1980 which is claimed by neither gen x or millenial or both, depending who you ask. not for nothing, we had all this new tech stuff come in when we were young and we're not known to be technically unsavvy :P (though the earlier you get things can be different) but also like. since he and i are kind of on that cusp age of generations, i don't think it would be necessarily super obvious to this girl that he is? dear lord. what will i overthink next
SAM So – so what’s a thing? DEAN You know, the truck thing. You honor the deceased by driving their truck. Sam, they wrote a whole country song about it. Why don’t you Google it?
it's such an old, easy, dumb joke but dean being so smug over telling sam to google something made me laugh
Tumblr media
DEAN Alright, so big brother didn’t get along with little brother, was pissed that he was driving his baby. I get it. SAM What are you saying? If you died and I drove your car, you’d kill me? DEAN If you stunk her up with tacquitos, probably.
what do you mean, IF? dean HAS died and you DID drive his car :P
Tumblr media
cackling. didn't they have a lamp cord do this in s1 to sam?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
spn s1e9 home
Tumblr media
SAM So, what? You think we’re dealing with a “Ghost in the Machine”? DEAN Maybe. But if it is the same ghost, I mean, they usually anchor themselves to a place or a thing. How is this one jumping from one machine to the next?
was gonna mention the xfiles episodes (s1e7 ghost in the machine and s5e11 kill switch [the one written by william gibson]), which ghost in the machine i mentioned previously because spn s2e5 had an actor in that episode! and i did i hiky for kill switch when i was rewatching xf. but i'm trying to stop rambling. unsuccessfully 🫠
so this seems more like a kill switch situation vs ghost in the machine (evil building software vs ai on the internet killing people) 🤪
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SAM It doesn’t matter. Now I’m going through her deleted files. DEAN You can do that? SAM Yeah. DEAN Hmm. SAM I mean, nothing ever really gets deleted from the Internet. You knew that, right? DEAN Yeah.
implied embarrassing (porn? tumblr poetry? DATING PROFILES?) dean winchester content out there somewhere. thinking about what could even embarrass dean (who currently is eating more sloppily than my kids do)
DELILAH It’s pretty crazy to obsess over someone you’ve never met. DEAN It’s not that crazy. The truth is, I can relate. DELILAH Really? DEAN I have made more mistakes than I can count. Ones that haunt me day and night. DELILAH So… how do you deal? DEAN Whiskey. Denial. I do my best to make things right, whatever that may be. For you, maybe it’s…maybe it’s coming clean. You know, finding a way to ask for forgiveness. But not breaking the bank at your local florist. I mean…real forgiveness. You can’t just bury stuff like this. You got to deal with it.
that old chestnut of opening up to a rando because their plotline mirrors enough the conflict that the boys are going through and they can't talk to anyone else about it
so, dean, my love. is this what you're doing, dealing?
also gonna skip over that whole shaky concept of the wifi business. keep on suspending that disbelief, nic. wireless speakers and wifi on an antenna tower (??), it's all the same. it's just waves in the air, man. i am a leaf on the wind 🍃
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DEAN Yeah. Looks like. I think I’m gonna follow his lead, too. SAM What do you mean? DEAN My peace is helping people. Working cases. That’s all I want to do. SAM Is this about the Mark? DEAN I’m done trying to find a cure, Sammy. SAM Dean, Cas is so close. DEAN To what? We don’t even know if there is a cure. So far, we’ve got nothing. We have found nothing at the Men of Letters library. Metatron may or may not know something. And maybe Cas is on to something with Cain. SAM Maybe. Yeah, maybe. Nothing is guaranteed, Dean. So what? We can’t just stop fighting. DEAN Yes, we can. SAM So, this is it? Y-you’re just gonna – you’re just gonna give up. DEAN No. No, I’m not just gonna give up. I appreciate the effort, okay? I do. But the answer is not out there. It’s with me. I need to be the one calling the shots here, okay? I can’t keep waking up every morning with this false hope. I got to know where I stand. Otherwise, I’m gonna lose my freakin’ mind. So I’m gonna fight it til I can’t fight it anymore. And when all is said and done… I’ll go down swinging.
sam and i both getting a little panicked i think (seeing sam start breathing fast surely affects me) but hey they got a few tears out of me, feels like an accomplishment (compared to early seasons i was regularly crying my way through the show). nothing like dean being a realist but also accepting that this thing is going to kill him. i get the false hope thing, and why it's untenable. and maybe that is the best plan, to fully accept in his heart of hearts it's not gonna get fixed. and then when they figure out how to fix it, he can run with it. but it's shades of that old passive self destructive dean who doesn't value his own life (or see how him not valuing his life affects sam)

HANNIBAL SPOILER S02E09
That black and white cold open was intense. So does Will on some level think or I guess know that Hannibal loves him in his own way?
Jack back at Hannibal’s dinner table 😂 like the second they arrested Chilton, Jack was already putting a bib on to eat at Hannibal’s again.
That truckers death felt VERY xfiles
BLINDING INTRO
So is Will letting himself be consumed by the killer or is he just playing to fool Hannibal? Cos Hannibal is all in if his Murder Wing Wang Boner during their session is anything to go by.
Ohoho Margot is spicy, and her dress sense is impeccable… I’m wearily liking her.
Excuse me but is Hannibal wearing a pinned trapper hat 😂😂😂
Tumblr media
I can’t take him seriously in that!
Aw I like Will and Animal guy’s interactions. Which probably means animal guy is going to die a horrible death if the history of this show is any indication.
Sooo the killer is a dude wearing a hydraulic wolf bear carcass suit?
Ah serves you horny couple right for being all out in the woods being all horny around a fire and stuff. Oop of course she trips.
Man, Hugh is so freaking pretty… Oop and now he’s got horns and imagining himself covered in blood mauling the chick. Alrighty.
Every conversation will and Hannibal have is so much double talk. And it’s always
H- “hey remember that time you tried to have me killed - how good did that feel hey??”
W- “yup sure did”
Only… sexier with 90% Hugh pout and Mads Francine Lips.
Hannibal going around telling everyone to kill, how many little sleeper agents does he have about town??
Will side eyeing Randall tier - realising Hannibal has been encouraging peeps to kill for decades. And now Margot tells him the same (another fucking bomb ass outfit from her.)
Oh - Will just flat out tells Hannibal he realises there are more and I’m not sure if Will sounds merely surprised but kinda jealous too? If only for Hannibal’s audacity.
Ooh dang Will practically signing Bedelia’s death sentence - even Hannibal reacted to that omission.
What the fuck? When Hannibal said that Will and Randall should discuss if Randall believed in god in person I didn’t think Hannibal would sic Randall on Will’s house?! I swear to god if that ManBearPig asshole harms any of Will’s Dogs, I’m gonna punch Hannibal in the butt.
BUSTER YOU STUPID SON OF A BITCH
BUSTER NOOOO. Welp Hannibal’s getting a punch in the butt 🤷🏻‍♀️
Oh Will is READY to kick ManBearPig’s Ass!
Fuck there’s less than a minute to go of the episode and man bear pig just came through Will’s window.
What? Why are we with Hannibal now? Oh. OH. Jesus, Will defeated ManBearPig with just a shotgun???
Even Steven. Jesus Christ - this show.

anyway this is kind of a sweeping generalization which i don't know if i'm comfortable making because i have watched a lot of crap scifi in my time, but not enough to make huge sweeping generalizations about the genre, however, i am going to do that anyway. ok like i've been thinking about like. Meta Episodes. as a genre.
the non-spn ones i'm thinking of are, to be clear, voyager "worst case scenario" and "muse," xfiles "hollywood ad," sg-1 "wormhole x-treme" and "200," and lucifer "¡diablo!" (although i'm not sure it's necessarily appropriate to include lucifer because lucifer is so dependent on spn for its, well. everything). i'm also tempted to include legends of tomorrow, but i don't think they really have meta episodes so much as a general background radiation of meta jokes spread across many episodes. also i'm not sure if legends has quite the same kind of specific "our lives specifically have been turned into a story" type stuff that i'm looking for. and also i have the same reservations about legends as i do about lucifer.
anyway, i would classify the spn meta episodes as "hollywood babylon," "ghostfacers," "the french mistake," and "fan fiction." and i would classify the spn meta storylines as the s4-5 chuck stuff (this includes later references to the books such as "season seven, time for a wedding!" and "clip show"), the metatron stuff, the s11 chuck stuff, and the s14-15 chuck stuff.
(i think you could make an argument that "clip show" can stand on its own as a meta episode, that "fan fiction" should be folded into the s4-5 chuck stuff, and that the s11 chuck stuff shouldn't be considered meta except for "don't call me shurley," making "don't call me shurley" a standalone meta episode, (and "don't call me shurley" isn't even that meta except in the context of s5 and s15, you could discount s11 entirely if you so chose), but these are judgement calls. i don't think my argument falls apart if they're classified differently, it's just helpful to have distinctions so i don't have to list every goddamn episode in s15 that mentions meta topics as a meta episode. also i think you could call "changing channels" a meta episode, because it's About TV and About Them Being In A TV Show, but it doesn't really fit the specific thread i'm pulling on, which is our main characters' lives which they are already living being turned into a story external to them, so i'm not including it. ditto with "monster movie" and probably some others. maybe even "it's a terrible life." these episodes would fall into the same category as btvs "once more with feeling" or futurama "reincarnation" as episodes which lean on the fourth wall and get meta about the medium and storytelling but aren't explicitly about stories about the main characters. casting the net even wider, you could even call "tall tales" meta, in the same way as xfiles "bad blood" (which it is based on) or fringe "brown betty," since it's about narratives told by the characters and adapted into a story. but again not what i'm looking for.)
anyway generally these episodes have something in common: they're about stories intentionally created based on the "real life" of our main characters. "hollywood ad," "wormhole x-treme," "200," and "¡diablo!" are all explicitly about hollywood productions based on the lives of the main characters of the shows. "worst case scenario" is about a holodeck simulation of possible events involving the voyager crew created by a member of the voyager crew, and "muse" is about an alien civilization taking logs recorded by the voyager crew and broadcast into space, and turning them into a set of religious doctrines, as well as greek-style plays. (it's also clearly a love-letter to galaxy quest, since it came out only six months later, and is essentially a version of galaxy quest not played for comedy).
(of all these episodes, "worst case scenario" is imo the most unique, and i would recommend giving it a watch even if you're not a trekkie or a voy fan. it does something very different with the "meta" premise than other meta episodes, which is interesting because it's also the earliest to air of the ones that i've listed. "muse," as i've said, is copying galaxy quest, and all the others are copying "hollywood ad," which is also probably kind of copying galaxy quest, especially since it aired around the same time as "muse." but "worst case scenario" has its own thing going on. it does something really unique with the meta premise, it turns the main characters of the show into a writers' room and debates over who has ownership of a text, as well as the usual debate over the ethics of turning real people into fictional characters. it's also i think the only meta episode from any show that presents a coherent discourse on not just fandom but fanfiction specifically. even the musical from the spn episode literally entitled "fan fiction" is primarily an adaptation, not taking the story in a new direction except in a few throwaway lines, while "worst case scenario" is literally about an imagining of the story of voyager where things went in a different direction.)
and the early meta stuff in spn is also like that. "hollywood babylon," "ghostfacers," and the s4-5 chuck stuff follow that approximate pattern ("hollywood babylon" is even a very explicit copy of "hollywood ad" in terms of plot, setting, etc). the film in "hollywood babylon" isn't based on the winchesters' lives, per se, but it is based on the supernatural world which they inhabit. "ghostfacers" is about them literally being in a reality tv show which is again based on the supernatural world. and the s4-5 chuck stuff could almost be considered a reverse galaxy quest, with religious doctrine being turned into a pop-culture cult phenomenon instead of the other way 'round. like in all of these cases, the winchesters' lives are something that exist independent of a narrative, and then they are observed by an outsider, and then the outsiders turn these observations of real life into a narrative. but it never casts aspersions on the legitimacy and reality of the winchesters' actual lives. (interestingly, "fan fiction" is also very much this trope. it might actually be the closest spn gets to having a "hollywood ad" of its own, since it's an actual adaptation of the winchesters' lives, which we get to see and comment on.)
the first time this pattern is broken is in "swan song," when chuck disappears. which like, hints, very slightly, that he might have been more than a prophet. like he might have had more agency in the story than a passive observer. and obviously this is confirmed retroactively in "don't call me shurley," but at the time it was just a very slight implication. it was a hint. but it wasn't confirmed or anything and you could say based on textual evidence that it wasn't true.
the first time it's really broken is actually in "the french mistake." like "the french mistake" actually has something really unique going on, because the tv show supernatural that they end up in? that's not a tv show that someone made based on sam and dean's lives. it's just a tv show that independently exists, unrelated to their lives, which happens to be about them. in another universe, sam and dean are just fictional characters. which kind of casts aspersions on their reality in the main universe as well. if they can come into existence literally as fictional characters in another world, what are they in this world. like, the characters played by jared padalecki and jensen ackles in the universe of "the french mistake" aren't adaptations of sam and dean winchester: they are literally that universe's equivalent of sam and dean winchester. and that doesn't seem like a big difference. certainly "the french mistake" doesn't acknowledge it as one, the story beats in "the french mistake" follow the general pattern" of a "hollywood ad" clone, and the characters don't really question their own reality. but i think it's huge, actually, and we should pay more attention to it. "the french mistake" is unique.

ive tried and failed to get into the xfiles twice since I was a teenager, and I guess there are a few reasons why that i haven’t been able to get into it. even though I’ve always thought “rationally I should love this. all the right ingredients are there. why don’t I?” and I guess I’m starting to figure out why I can’t fully get into it
two case of the week procedural style that we recommended to me were the familiar (the mr chuckleteeth one) in the revival series and home from the original
i liked the first and the second was just.. um… alright well we’re going to do “good news first”
so my main thing that I liked with the familiar is how the “creepy thing for kids” trope works better in the post elsagate world, although people weren’t super aware of that happening on youtube. but when kids will be hooked up to their ipads and watching shit like this:
Tumblr media
It’s a lot easier for me to be take it at face value when parents aren’t even surprised anymore when they may have grown up with a sibling who watched the boobahs or whatever and now legitimate kids shows look like this:
Tumblr media
A lot of what holds back the effectiveness “creepy doll” related things is that the supernatural object is usually understood by the characters in the film to be, like, a weird Victorian antique ,and that always makes it by default one of those incomprehensible horror character decisions like “why do u even have that”. vs I’m sure my parents thought the teletubbies were unsettling, but I remember my brother having teletubbies toys when we were young. “this is weird, but my kid likes it. I’ll buy him the creepy doll.”
plus the doll not being a supernatural object either was a fun thing to do with it.
im also a sucker for using the “we’re protective of our own” small town attitude as a parallel for when the police departments do this shit. there’s definitely a similar judge/jury/executioner thing that exists on a social level in small towns. good eye. good shit.
with something like home on the other hand, incidentally also a small town – for one thing, having people in pennsylvania talk & behave like that and have this general aversion to modernization is dead on. I could easily see people in Potter county acting like that in the 90s. If you camp in cherry springs, it’s still basically impossible to get cell service in a lot of the towns that are near the park. and the people there are… they definitely have that conservative flavored redneck thing going on.
but what just absolutely ruins the episode for me is that the dialogue is so clunky lmfao. it’s like the writers watched dukes of hazard episodes and was like “yeah, this is accurate.” and it geographically does not look like rural PA. nor is “War of Northern Aggression” something you’d realistically have someone say there, even though confederate flags aren’t uncommon. these are such little nitpicks but they really take you out of it when you notice them. If you set this a few miles south in West Virginia, you could have at least avoided the last two.
and I guess it’s the thing about it for me. when you don’t have those little goofs, it works incredibly well, but when they’re there, they feel impossible to notice

Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted every Tuesday.
Interview with Rae
Rae has 16 stories at Gossamer. If you like MSR, you should go check them out, including (but not limited to) the fun-titled, banter-filled The Cat, an Espresso and a Bag of Sunflower Seeds. Big thanks to Rae for doing this interview.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
It surprises me that anyone reads my fanfic at all, let alone they are reading it 20 years after I wrote it!
But in the same vein, I am still actively reading xfiles fanfic and I tend to read the older fics, or new fics by authors I recognize or remember from back in the day. I cannot explain this lack of rationale. 🤷
What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience? What did you take away from it?
I had a great experience with the X-Files fandom! I made some fantastic friends - many even attended my wedding! I didn't really get involved in the dramas that went on. I was aware of it, but really, I just wanted to discuss my show with people that loved it like I did and read the fic, so I ignored all the other static.
Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?
Mainly message boards. AOL chat rooms, Yahoo groups, etc. We would all sign on after the episode aired and chat about it. Deconstruct it. And then we started traveling to meet each other and the real fun began!
What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?
It was definitely a growing experience. It forced me to step outside my comfort zone a little bit. Traveling to NYC, LA and Chicago to meet people just to fangirl with. Meeting Gillian and getting a picture with her - it was wild.
Different shared experiences that "real life" family and friends just didn't understand. It was fun and exciting.
What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?
So I came to the show late in the game. I was sick, lying in bed channel surfing and caught the last 5 minutes of Fight the Future and immediately wanted to know why this woman was sitting in the snow holding onto this man. I spent the summer recording episodes on FX during the week and watching them all weekend and was somehow able to pretty much catch up on the first 6 seasons in time for the 7th season premiere.
What got you involved with X-Files fanfic?
In my quest to know all the things that summer before the 7th season, I discovered AOL chat rooms that led me to different discussions on the show in general and at one point, a link was posted to whatever fanfic was hot that minute and I was instantly hooked.
What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom?
I often feel like a wallflower at a party. I'm on the fringe, looking in to see what's going on. I don't bother anyone and most people don't even know I'm there. Every now and then I'll send feedback on a story, or I might even participate in a random discussion, but I feel it's a little more difficult these days without the chatrooms and discussion boards. Following people on tumblr or twitter and trying to engage in those platforms is more awkward since it feels so much more personal. It's like I'm intruding on someone's personal space.  Or having to scroll through non-fandom stuff to find the fic. The message boards were a more even playing field I guess? It's hard to explain.
When I'm hardcore searching for something...anything to read, I'll refer to "The Classics" list. There are still many on there I haven't read.
I miss ephemeral.
Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?
No. No other characters have ever interested me beyond the story we're given within the confines of the show/movie/book like Mulder and Scully did. My friends would dive into Harry Potter or Marvel or (fill in the blank with anything) and I would try to get excited, but there's nothing.
Who are some of your favorite fictional characters? Why?
Well, Scully because she's so bad-ass. She's always so certain of her convictions. We don't see her second-guess herself often.
Anne of Green Gables because against all odds, she still sees the beauty in everything.
Jo in Little Women because she is just so tenacious. She knows what she wants.
Hermione in Harry Potter. She knows the most important thing she'll do is help Harry and there is value in that, so she gives it all she's got.
Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully?
I do. A couple of years after the original run was over, I lost a dear friend (met because of XF) and then later I had my first baby and life just got busy in a very different way so I fell out of the fandom and just dropped all of it.
And then there was the revival. I waited until all episodes aired and then binge-watched them. And I did the same with season 11, but waited about 6 mos after it aired to watch it, rewatching the whole series from the beginning, first.
But now I turn it on a few times a week while I'm folding laundry or making dinner or some other chore. It's nice to have it on in the background because I don't have to pay close attention because I know what's going to happen. I've actually watched the whole series a few times this way.
Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom?
I still read XF fic. It's still my favorite thing to read. I am always looking for the next great fic to lose myself in. Back in the day, I would read any pairing, any genre...I was game for anything, as long as it was XF fic. I'm a little more choosy, now, but only because my free-time is more limited. I only want to read MSR and I'm not at all interested in revival fics.
Do you have any favorite X-Files fanfic stories or authors?
I am partial to the novel-length AU and canon-divergent stories.  I love everything by Prufrock's Love and Bonetree. I have read Paracelsus, A Moment in the Sun and the Goshen/Secret World series countless times. Journal 1999 and Journal 2000 by MD1016, The Mastodon Diaries by akaJake, Blinded by White Light by Dashak, Deliverance From Evil by Char Chaffin and Tess.
I could go on all day.
My absolute favorite story is Arizona Highways by Fialka.
I am partial to Scully angst. And the Emily storyline just kills me, so when authors take those elements and write a kick-ass story, I am there for it.
What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?
How awful is it that I had to look up my fics to answer this question? I don't know that I have a favorite. That's like asking a mother which child she favors. Maybe One of the Damned.
Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?
I won't say never, but I don't think so. I've tried to start one or two with some ideas I've had, but I haven't gotten far with them.
Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work?
No. I don't even have time to read as often as I would like to.
Where do you get ideas for stories?
Usually what if scenarios - I try to work out different ways the story could go in my head. I would usually have the guts of the story written in my head before I typed the first word.
What's the story behind your pen name?
There was already a well-known Rachel posting fic when I got started, so I just decided to go with a nickname - Rae.
Do your friends and family know about your fic and, if so, what have been their reactions?
My husband is crazy supportive and tries to convince me to write again All. The. Time. I never hid my XF obsession from anyone, but I don't think I told many people about my writing.
Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?
I am on tumblr and twitter, but like I said above, I don't really post. All of my stories are at Gossamer.

So you mentioned mylie the mermaid in your last ask and it got me thinking about that episode. I think it was kinda dumb that she would like become mortal after she confessed. Like that’s no fun! She could have had fun H20 style hijinks being like a literal fish out of water!
I think they were gonna do a spin-off based on this episode 🤔 which if so then it would have been ahead of its time.
Mermaid!anon…so I checked the Wiki and apparently not only was there a mermaid show spin-off there was supposed to be a solo Piper spin-off! I feel like that could have been good to use to transition into a next gen show…but then it got me thinking…how would they do a single sister spin-off show when the main shows theme is all about sisterhood??? The CW was one/still is one strange place
tbh tho,,,,,,,,, solo piper spin off kinda woulda blowed. imo. like. like You Know they’re gonna add more unnecessary pleo drama esp because they don’t have any other sisters’ relationship drama to keep it afloat like that would be messy and then like. what’s the gonna do huh? a) she’s a Charmed One that’s the Power of Three baby like. what u gonna bring paige n phoebe in for the final five minutes of every episode gimme a break. and then b) like. the finale ended in such a nice place and demon attacks are at an all time low. what like What Is She Gonna Do. seek out demon attacks? she’s a soon to be mother of three r u kidding me. literally the only reason do so a piper spin off is to do pleo divorce arc 2.0 leading into piper/kyle. like it’s already insane and a bad idea you might as well go balls to the wall. basically knock off the xfiles but instead of gillian anderson it’s piper halliwell milf witch and she fucking hates kyle. only reason.
but yeah in my brain mylie def keeps her mermaid powers like come on now. and it’s like aquamarine!! also like. the seahag made her mortal but then she got vanquished which should theoretically (which, by the way. should be spelled with an h. like rhetoric. i spell this world wrong every time but i think the world is actually wrong and we should all adapt to my way) reverse all of her magic no? like. like just keep her a mermaid dude just like half mermaid. but i think it’s like. like how i think even if the girl’s powers were bound their kids would have still been witches just their powers had never been bound. i think mylie’s mermaid-ness doesn’t get entirely scrubbed with a single mf’s spell. who is this fuckin sea hag anyway? i think their kid would still def be half-mermaid.

Fancy sink.
So moral of the episode- don’t have electronic bathrooms.
Why is their a camera in the bathroom?
Why does he have a shower in the bathroom, does he live there?
Why does he even have his own personal bathroom, is that normal?
Closest xf ever came to having a Halloween episode- this is your episode.
I really don’t understand why she’s jealous/mad here. It makes no sense. Jerry, as far as I’m aware, isn’t a Phoebe or a Diana- why are you angry that he worked with him?
A basement office with no heat or windows- that must be fun all year round. I might write a fic…
Yo she FALLS.
And you’re stuck in a lift.
If a lift started working again after momentarily breaking I think you’d let the dude know.
Okay so the camera isn’t facing the shower but still…why is there a camera in the bathroom?
Privacy didn’t exist in the 90s.
Aw Mulder’s nods.
Scully tidies up Mulder’s desk one day and he gets annoyed because he can’t find anything anymore.
Aw Mulder got his work stolen, that’s sad.
It’s actually really sad how he doesn’t want to say anything about it, too.
Jerry a cnut.
What is with these blazer to skirt ratios?
There’s too much feet out.
What is she actually carrying in that briefcase? Is it necessary?
Miss Scully.
What the fuck is a “scruffy mind”
More stuff just keeps getting added to these reports she writes.
Also why is she still wearing heels? You take that shit off the moment you get in.
Is this actually possible?
The voice is creepy.
Nah I think Mulder’s got and gets it worse.
How did they come to this conclusion by doing that?
Lol drawing on the computer screen. I don’t care if the screens are glass, it’s stupid and unnecessary.
Is this dude’s house necessary?
He’s so hunched over. That’s not good for your back.
What an effective security guard.
What’s with the weird camera angle?
I’m not getting in lifts again.
Well I think he’s dead.
Lol and he actually did go back.
It feels weird when Deep Throat appears in MoW episodes.
Should I do a death toll? Death counter? Is that morbid?
It’s weird seeing a season 3 outfit on a season 1 Scully.
Was Mulder actually allowed to get that laptop into the prison?
Where did he whip that from?
Just another day where Mulder and Scully almost die in a car accident.
She nearly falls up the stairs. Mood.
Mulder just saved Scully’s life.
That would still shock him tho wouldn’t it?
It’s so simple that it’s stupid.
Yo remember that time Mulder shoved Scully up an airduct? I wanna see that conversation.
She also should have went up more airducts. Or more tight Scully sized spaces.
I’m not a fan of these unnecessary weird camera angles.
All the papercuts ew.
Can you imagine crawling all that way just to be blown backwards?
Aside from the murder fan beneath, that looks fun.
Mulder’s backpack.
Surprise, Motherfucker!
Surprise, Motherfucker!
Scully’s had a TIME.
That’s why she was never shoved up another airduct. Mulder tried to and she threatened to walk away.
The voice goes from creepy and plain stupid.
Scully cross chain changes all the time.
Hey remember Jerry? He dead.
That’s a big ass ugly phone.
So what happened to Brad? Is he still in prison complaining that he has to wear shoes?
Final Thoughts: I actually really like this episode. It’s no way a good one but it would probably be at the top of my list of meh episodes.

You made us. Blog eight of Disability in the World of the X-Files Series Eve Discussion
I should probably begin with the fact that I love the episode Eve. It strikes all the scary, horror chords well. We have psychopathic, homicidal twins ten year girls committing patricide. We have cloning and a crazed lunatic plus two identical surburbia homes states away from each other. What is scarier than suburbia? We, also, have an introduction to the infertility/cloning dynamic which would pay such an important part in the series mythology; although it is unlikely that anybody involved with the X-Files would have realized that this early in only the 11th episode of the first season.
Reviewing this episode in a disability focused perspective presents challenges because some of the most disturbing facets of this episode in terms of the portrayal of disability are the things that make the episode one of the pure scariest episode in X-Files history. Perhaps, in a way, that is the point. Our fear of mental illness. and the history of how individuals with mental illness have been treated have such a tangled, twisted chain in our cultural consciousness that public policy and health care implications persist today. It is because of this that the images and stereotypes resonate and scare us so completely.
Where to begin then? I want to address the institutionalization of individuals with mental illness, eugenics, chromosome disorders and the complicated issues of guilt and shame “family” feel when mental illness exists and is inherited. It’s a lot to discuss, but in a disability focused review of The X-Files “Eve” deserves this attention.
Institutions-Viewers might remember that the agents went to a psychiatric facility in the pilot. They might think about other episodes where the agents visit treatment facilities. In Eve, the agents visit a institution for the criminally insane. The institution is a lock down prison type facility. It could not be more dehumanizing. The agents are given panic buttons. We hear the screams of inmates as they walk down the hall. Then, if that is not terrifying enough, they are given flashlights to enter the cell of a woman who apparently has an extreme case of light sensitivity. The woman is shackled and chain because, she discloses, she bit into the eyeball of a guard. She, then, makes biting gestures and noises which makes the viewer think of Hannibal Lecter. Wow, what happened to the love and caring this show demonstrated in the last episode for “delusional schizophrenic” Max Fenig.
“Eve” aired December 1993 which is a significant period in deinstitutionalization for persons with mental illness. (Please note the issues discussed in this section are specific to institutions for persons with mental illness not developmental or cognitive disabilities). Between 1977 - to the mid-late 90’s proponents of humane conditions for persons with mental illness argued for and mostly succeeded in closing down institutions for persons with mental illness in support of community mental health care. In 93, then, the country would have had significantly fewer people institutionalized than even five years earlier but there would have been heated debate about how far to go in these efforts. This show is meant to promote fear and it is not a clear cut case on which side of the debate they might have been. If the thought of walking into a facility like this fills you with dread, it should. We should all be aware of the history- in one facility in California one single doctor lobotomized 200 individuals, shock therapy, hydrotherapy were all “treatments”. However, closing of facilities without adequate community resources clearly was not the answer. It created scores of homeless individuals- individuals who were and continue to be dumped on the streets because they don’t have the resources or wherewithal to care for themselves. Ask yourself who could be more vulnerable to victimization than individuals with mental illness living on the streets. Today, the number one behavioral health provider in most municipalities in this country are the prisons. There are some prisons with behavioral or mental health care facilities. 26 years since this show aired the ramifications of shutting down institutions continue. Yet, people then and now are afraid to have persons with mental illness in the community. The Eve known as Sally Kendrick makes the argument that in a supportive environment and with medication people like her could lead productive, normal lives. It’s a sound argument if she had not experimented on ova then placed said ova into infertile women, kidnapped two young results of that experiment and held a gun to one threatening to shoot and telling Mulder that he knew she was capable. When the Eve in the institution says of the Eve known as Sally that “ I am her and she is me and we are all together” it can be seen as a chilling statement about mental healthcare in the US or about the mental instability of people living in the community who were previously institutionalized.
Eugenics- it is worth noting, however that the XFiles could argue they were not making a statement about mental illness because these were not simply individuals who were mentally ill. These were genetically altered individuals created as a race of super soldiers. This will be another theme throughout the series’ history. Given the importance of this to the show’s mythology and the fact that this is the first episode it plays a major role, it is worth providing a contextual backdrop of eugenics and the United States. I guess most of us think our role was to fight the Nazis becauss extermination camps was an extreme attempt to assure genetic purity. However, we forget that at the turn of the 20th century the eugenics movement was quite strong in the US and, for people with disabilities, this often meant forced sterilization and experimentation. Today Infertility clinics will often ask about and reject donors with a family history of mental illness and some people make abortion decisions strictly around testing to determine if the child might have disabilities (more usually, since you can’t screen for mental illness in fetuses, the screening is for diagnosis relating to chromosomal disorders).
Chromosomal disorders- the Eve’s have extra chromosomes which leads to heighten intelligence, heighten strength and heighten psychosis. They have a tendency to suicide and /or homicide. Chromosomal disorders might also cause Down Syndrome, Angelman Syndrome, Prader-Willie, and Williams syndrome. This show never references those conditions, but it is hard to hear conversations about chromosomal disorders and not think about individuals we know who have chromosomal differences.
The last topic area is the topic of family reaction when mental illness may be genetic and inherited. The reaction of the only living parent of the two girls is telling. She went from loving her daughter and calling her “special” to burning all her pictures and denying any association. Many individuals with mental illness are rejected by family. On the other hand the Eve’s felt some type of responsibility and need to care for the girls. I was struck by the scene where Sally Kendrick is pleading with the girls to remember they are human. However when she asks the girls why they killed their fathers and eventually why they poisoned her the girls response is “You should know. You made us.” I fear this is representative of how many parents feel when their children are diagnosed with mental illness. The stigma is so strong that mental illness is not seen as a disease but a character flaw. Parents are often ashame and blame themselves. This, incidentally, goes back to the eugenics movement discussion and the fact that there were many “scientific articles” at the turn of and the early 20th century arguing that bad genes were part of the problem.
At the beginning of this blog I said I liked this episode. I do. The X-Files was a horror show and under no obligation to create a politically correct, sterile world of perfection in how they portray issues around disability. Instead look at this blog as an analysis of our society as much of as the X-Files. This show had insane asylums for the criminal ill and a discussion of eugenics and those are topics laden with history of horrors. It also had people with mental illness in our community and a discussion of chromosomal differences. Why should the latter two things be equally scary? How does a parent fear of having a child with mental illness factor into why this episode is scary?
I u dertook this analysis of theis series because I thought it could make us think of ourselves and of our society through the lens of our entertainment. It is significant because we the viewers made this show a success. The production company 1013 catch phrase may be “ I made this”, but we the fans kept it on the air and asked for it to return for two more seasons decades after it had ended. It is worth looking critically at why the disability constructs in this episode scared us so deeply. We should ask why. As the little Eves would say “ You should know. You made us.”

please refrain from reb/0gging
as im watching the dark skies shift to blues, the sun is rising on a household with one less kitten in it today. i can see no stars out.
amber died yesterday.
we took her home on friday, neck tube in and accompanied by medicine, after a 9 day stay in the hospital. we were going to try our hardest to help her get get better. we’d been making plans the entire time what we’d do with her when she was healthy again; that we’d definitely let them out next more next summer and make certain the garden had no places for pests, that i’d play with them even more than i did now, that we’d get them all health insurance. we bought her the cat bed we’d been lingering over at the store to make sure she had a very comfy spot to recover in. i’d woken up late on friday but i helped my sister with feeding her, giving her medicine. i was prepared to stay up all day saturday to help.
but she hadn’t closed here eyes since she’d come home, and what my sister thought was her sleeping - nictitating membranes half closed, paws twitching like she was dreaming - maybe have been a seizure in retrospect. though she took everything well, at 7 am she was having breathing problems. she was laying sideways on the floor with her little tongue sticking out, eyes half closed. we woke everyone up. we rushed her back to the hospital immediately. we talked about putting her down, and i’m sad we didn’t in retrospect, but we had never lost a cat before and we were so hopeful she could still turn around - twice while she was at the hospital she’d perked up and looked for all intents and purposes that she was recovering. she was such a strong, healthy cat before all this happened, it was hard to think she could just go like that, but as it happened it was just complication after complication that hit her. so we held off to give her the weekend, said if she didn’t look better, we’d be back to sign the papers.
it was not even 5 hours after we’d left her there that we got the call, around 1:30 pm. she’d nosedived suddenly and they tried to resuscitate her to no success - something my sister had said yes to out of reflex, but was going to phone tomorrow to say not to do, to just let her go. we went back and saw her little body. my sister cradled her in her arms, and every time she shifted in her seat amber’s fuzzy ears swayed just a bit and i kept expecting her to shake it off, wake up, blink up at us with those big, warm, adoring eyes she always had. her head was as cold as the wind outside when i pet her and i feel as if the chill hasn’t left my hand.
now my brain keeps playing that still face against those late night/early morning memories of her jumping up on my bed and my desk, smiling at me with that big wide happy mouth, bumping her head against mine and against the curtain until i’d open it and she could look out and she’d wiggle her big fluffy butt right between me and my monitor. her tail would always be straight up as she watched the shifting shadows beyond the glass and she purred like an orchestra. then she’d sit on my lap and make the cutest face at me, and i’d pet her a little, but because she always seemed to do this when i was absorbed in writing or art i’d pat her butt until she got annoyed and leapt off, skittering out of my room and down the stairs with the noise of a horse. i’d always felt a little guilty after that, and last time, in damn november, i’d made the promise to myself that next time she came to visit i’d let her sit on me and cuddle up as long as she wanted. it’s been barely 15 hours and already i miss seeing that fuzzy face pop up from behind my desk, that fluffy butt jogging out of my room. amber, i’m so sorry i booted you away when you were lonely in the mornings and just wanted to give and receive love from me.
there’s so many things i wish we did in retrospect (in retrospect, in retrospect). i wish i had pushed harder for a vet appointment when i first saw her so listless, but i always differ to my sister and she said she had no money for it. i wish we’d gotten all our cats health insurance so it wouldn’t have been as big of a cost as it was, that we wouldn’t have been so hesitant about a vet appointment in the first place. i wish i had convinced my sis to put her down when we were there in the mornning so she could have passed away in the arms of someone she loved surrounded by people she cared about instead of laying her head against the side of a small metal cage because we were too scared to let go of her. i’m so sorry amber, we did you so wrong.
when we were there in the morning a man came in after us, an old old man who looked to be in his eighties or so. he was there about a cremation for his african grey parrot who’d passed away the night before. he had a south african accent, and i heard him talking about how he’d been with the bird for forty seven years, that he’d found it abandoned by someone else. i saw him and an old woman bawling in the parking lot afterwards. looking back i should have taken it as an omen.
when we got back to the house the first time, around 11:30 in the morning, the cats were going crazy. all three were trying to get into my room. i wanted nora to stay out so she could comfort my sister, but maggie stood on my desk for 15 minutes staring with that kitty love face and headbutting me before she fell asleep on the bed by my feet. sassy, meanwhile, was absolutely losing it, running around the house and yelling with her unique, loud “mryow” sounding vocalization, eyes wide. should have taken it as an omen.
its weird to wake up at 3 am today to three cats. a time in the morning when i know amber would’ve come to visit, given her health back. its weird to walk down and not see her stretch her big fuzzy yellow belly into a croissant shape. i miss running around the house with the knotted shoelace and having her run after me at top speed, catching it and then running along with me as its in her mouth. i miss her closing eyes as you brushed her mane. i miss that little orange spot she wore on her head like a jewel.
i don’t think i can do anything downstairs without getting choked up about how she’d lie across my legs as i did anything. i don’t think i can get back to playing spyro or watching xfiles since she was there like that the whole time for those. i don’t think i can pick up arkham knight or aco again since i’d sit out in the middle of the floor for those and she’d come up behind me and bump my back, sit on my blanket, lay across one of my legs as i played.
i worry about my sister who cannot even lie in her bed without remembering amber there, sleeping on a pillow beside her, hugging her with all her legs. that cat got her through an abusive relationship and countless depressive episodes and the inherent trauma of being trans in a world that really doesn’t want you to live.
but like whether she’s in kitty heaven as my parents would prefer to think, or she’s my sister’s little spirit guardian now, or if there’s a kitten born on this day that might cross our paths again and bump our legs and look up, i hope she’s doing good. she deserves that at least, she was the sweetest cat i ever met and she should have got more than we could give her.
i feel bad for the hospital staff too. in her stay there she charmed everyone who crossed her path and they were all rooting so hard for her to pull through. one of the vets had her out in her office walking around for exercise on one of the days she was very perky, seemingly recovering. the one we interacted with yesterday was too kind, waiving the fees for the resuscitation attempts and refunding us the 700 we put down for the next few days of care that wouldn’t come to pass. i mean, we’d already dropped 9k on her and were fully prepared to spend 1k more for that fighting chance of a weekend - and of all the things we regret that is not one of them, even if i know a thousand people who’d call us fucking idiots for it. no cent spent trying to keep her alive was a waste. between all of us, even if we had to go into debt, it was the least we could do. we put aside those hopeful dreams of actually owning a house for her, and all my daydreams of introducing them to the new place.
but that 9k could have been reduced to 4.5k (over the 8 years, putting into it each month) if we’d had health insurance on her. as much as that is, it’s tiny compared to what we just spent and would have given us the reassurance to take her to the vet the moment she got sick instead of worrying about money. please, if you have pets you care about, get them health insurance. here it’s 50 a month but that is nothing compared to the cost of vet bills even for routine checkups which it will cover 90% of, and it will give you the peace of mind that you can go to the vet whenever. the moment a pet starts acting unusual you should take them. even if its nothing, its better safe than sorry. complications can hit so fast and pile up.
i’ll be watching the other cats much more closely after this and - after i have my energy back, hopefully - i’ll follow through on that promise and pay them even more attention and get them even more toys. we’re gping to get them health insurance in january and we’re gonna spent the spring cleaning up the backyard to make it safer for the cats, just in case. when they get into the backyard in the summer, oh, its gonna be real fuckin strange not to see amber’s cute sandy coloured face under the lilac tree by the little pond. i still have photos of her from last summer and remember vividly making myself stupid in the grass to get those upward shots of her.
goodnight little lion. you had all the colours of the desert in you and all the love of the sweetest little earth angel, eager to share it. i wish we could have given you so many more years of care, eight was not enough and eleven is much too young for a kitty to go, but i hope you are warm and basking in sunlight wherever you are.
i could see no stars out until i looked behind the house. there, despite the heavy cloud cover on this overcast day, there is a single star shining brighter than i’ve ever seen before, right above us, right at the door.

supernatural s8e1 we need to talk about kevin (w. jeremy carver)
new season, new me. *silent wish goes up for smaller sideburns*
of course they had to include "dick is coming" in the recap. we can't let the opportunity for a dick joke slip out of our hands
Tumblr media
very xfiles
Tumblr media
okay i threw this in lightroom real quick to make it less dark because what is going on here? it's very... strike a pose, for feral!dean. and the kids are like from a painting. it's very dramatic. maybe i will paint it some day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
well the infamous benny appears. i also didn't realize purgatory was gonna be a time jump like hell. read something not too long ago that was fairly evocative of the environment of purgatory so i was thinking some of the show happened there (though i suppose flashbacks are also a possibility).
lol i'm already upset, broad strokes know how this goes with their reunion emotionally.
this is so ridiculous. i was just complaining how i felt so blah with the end of s7. well here we go, let's hurt my feelings with brother conflict stress and i'm gonna be upset about it? make up your mind
Tumblr media
okay so some fics i've read are like "sam didn't look for dean while he was in purgatory" but i did not pick up that for all intents and purposes, sam had no reason to assume he wasn't dead.
there's a lot going on in this scene. like the semi dodging the cas questions, how he got out, etc.
SAM Yeah. Yeah, I – you were gone... Dean. Cas was gone, Bobby was dead. I mean, Crowley even shipped off Kevin and Meg to parts unknown. DEAN So you just turned tail on the family business.
are you kidding me right now, dean? like he should carry on hunting because it's the family business??? i'll chalk this up to being mad and fucked up for being hunted for a year.
SAM Nothing says "family" quite like the whole family being dead. DEAN I wasn't dead. In fact, I was knee-deep in God's armpit killing monsters, which, I thought, is what we actually do. SAM Yes, Dean. And far as I knew, what we do is the thing that got every single member of my family killed. I had no one – no one. And for the first time in my life, I was completely alone. And, honestly, I-I didn't exactly have a roadmap. So, yeah, I-I fixed up the Impala, and I just... drove.
💔
DEAN After you looked for me. Did you look for me, Sam? [SAM looks away.] Good. That's good. Now, we – we... always told each other not to look for each other. That's smart. Good for you. Of course, we always ignored that because of our deep, abiding love for each other, but not this time, right, Sammy?
well i can see now why fics harp on this point. so i'm assuming sam thought dean was in heaven. would dean expect sam to try to get him back from there too? tucking 'deep and abiding love' into my pocket
okay right i've talked about this before too, how sam is always the fuckup begging for forgiveness and dean is the righteous man. and i'm tired of it! this thing with the voicemails from kevin tran is just... cruel. i don't like the point they're making.
real life, anyone in sam's situation would be a fucking mess. i still don't really think sam would flake on the phones with kevin like that.
Tumblr media
whoa whole new desktop. so long untitled 1 and 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh we get urls now in the new web browser! and look at that, already an invalid web url http://www.searchtheweb/main missing your tld, friend 😔 1 out of 2, at least
lying about the dog in the car too. all right
okay, purgatory flashback after all. umm. what happens when you die in purgatory? respawn there? or is that the way to the big empty i've heard about
Tumblr media
DEAN Hmm. So what was it, hmm? What could possibly make you stop just like that? A girl? Was there a girl? SAM The girl had nothing to do with it. DEAN There was a girl. SAM Yeah. There was. And then there wasn't. Any more questions?
*heavy sigh*
not getting through this episode tonight. reconvene tomorrow

S2 E7 - The Usual Suspects
Ok I'm gonna continue skipping the recaps bc it's setting up what the episode is going to be abt and uh I'd rather just go in blind.
Still mad about the last episode. So much potential to develop Jo that instead got stuck on weird girl power nonsense, Sam had like 4 lines of dialogue, and Dean went from flippant weird asshole to "IT WAS MY FAULT OKAY" at the end. Uh. Smh.
Anyway.
Police are invading a motel. We're not going to reveal who the police officer is talking to are we.
Oh it's Sam. And it's Dean. Are we going to get a "one week earlier" title card?
Why is Sam not chained to a desk.
The cops need probable cause to hold Sam which they just admitted they don't have. "Are you just that good of an actor" said to Jarp lmao.
Sam's getting read to filth by this lady cop. Why would Sam jump in to this there's literally no way of knowing where this is going.
Sam why are you talking to the cops. Also obviously they gave him the coffee to get his prints you fell right into their trap.
Oh it's a frame where Sam is telling the story to the cops.
s o we had the buffy s6 fan episode and now we have the brothers arguing about which one is scully and which one is mulder can you kids keep it down abt the shows you're ripping off for 5 MINUTES
Also neither of them are either scully or mulder.
I think Jarp is doing a good job in this episode. I guess after he had 3 lines last ep they decided to tell a story from his perspective.
Is Dean being weird because this is being told from Sam's perspective or is he just Like That. If this story is trying to be a ripoff of the s5 vamp xfiles episode.. i guess I'll keep watching.
Dean picked that lock with a hairpin. Nice to know that Sam is lying to the cops.
An all work and no play reference. Also more paper props even if they aren't like, old books and shit.
Shot of Sam with his mouth open that could be edited to mean many things.
Who is Dana Shulps... the question of the day
Dean can't sit still for 2 seconds uhoh i have another screengrab.
Someone was in the house.. but was it Dean?
Uhoh a lady with red eyes who is definitely Dean Winchester.
I feel like if you're being chased around your house by a ghost you should leave your house.
YESSSSS MORE CREEPY PAPER PROPS YESSSSSS
Also who tf has a printer in their bedroom.
Yes Dean break int - oo nice floor detailing. Love me some wood inlays.
No light no light and my bright red eyes
I'm losing it I need to go eatttttttttt
Uhoh Karen's dead.
Why are you touching her Dean.
Oh nooooo don't put Dean in handcuffs oh nooooooooo
Well another guy is going to die while they're in jail
I don't think the actress is doing a good job. Uhoh the cops are into each other.
Maybe it's not a name
Are they going to figure it out simultaneously that would be cool.
An anagram. Nobody can say no to Dean W. Humor him, lawyer boy.
Why would the ghost be talking in anagram ?? no idea. Why is the ghost stalking police lady, no idea.
"My name is Dean Winchester. I'm an aquarius, I enjoy sunsets, long walks on the beach, and frisky women."
He's on camera talking about vengeful spirits.
Oh is it connected to the lead detective that would be fun.
Was Dean no longer handcuffed to the table? I guess not.
Uhoh Sam's gone.
I hope the lady doesn't die. I don't think the actress is amazing but I like her character.
Ah the ghost can't talk. That's fun.
There are almost definitely people watching from the other side of the one way glass.
Sam take your cast off challenge
Sam hacker challenge
It has to be connected to the lead detective. WHAT ARE THE TWO LETTERS THAT ARENT ASHLAND ST there's a p in there it will piss me off so bad if it's not relevant
Ah Ashland Sup cool i'm satisfied now
Let's bust inside a wall
No digging up a corpse is par for the corpse
They aren't Claire's remains. Or they are, and she wants help figuring out who killed her?
Necklace means something. YESSS IT'S ALL PETE'S FAULT.
Pete stole heroin.
Dean shutup challenge.
Oh Pete's going to try to kill Dean that's fun.
Why is Pete homicidal over Dean when literally he could have just... like .. not?
Pete's just .. really into murdering i guess.
Oh I guess that's his reasoning for killing Dean.
Yes kill each other cops kill each other......
Wow very timely spirit.
Why was Diana getting the death omen?
I liked the hell house cop better.
Dean could go for some pea soup? Is that a reference?

Note
those animaniac episodes were written over 2 years ago (hence the inclusion of xfiles and gilmore girls) so i wouldn't worry about them rebooting it with just david.
Yeah, I read about that :) I’m glad! Though I feel like maybe they should have adjusted the theme song 😂

I don’t really post on here, but I just found myself inspired after watching “Plus one” so here are my thoughts on the ep...
Who would have thought hell would freeze over and I would find myself giving Chris Carter credit and literally wanting to thank him for not completely screwing up an episode and finally giving us something that he has been dangling as bait above our heads for literally decades?!? ATTHS!!!! That should be the title of the episode because let’s face it that’s the main thing that I am taking away from this episode 😂 but that’s just me, one track mind and also no tolerance for Chris Carter’s “did they didn’t they” bullshit. Philes have withstood it for ages and I’m glad the game of torture is finally over. Apparently this is going to turn into a love letter ode to Chris Carter because right from the get go it felt like a proper xfile, I got that reminiscent chill way deep in my bloodstream when the doppelgänger appeared, nothing like things that go bump in the night with loud music in the background to raise my Adrenalin level to a high. The first dialogue between far fetched theory Mulder and rational medical doctor Scully  as they battle it out cerebral style is how we like our x files! Or at least how I like mine. It also continues Mulder’s theme of claiming the x-files as “theirs” as states in the last episode “This”. These cases are collectively Mulder and scullys bread and butter, and as much as Scully puts up a fight in trying to discredit Mulders whacky enthusiasm over the idea of doppelgängers Scully is intrigued enough to jump into a car with him hit the I95 south to get to the bottom of this phenomenon wether they are mental illness or else... and Mulder is gracious enough to extend her the first go at discrediting him by allowing her to conduct Arkie’s first interrogation at the jail. Bringing Karin Konoval back is yet another mark in Chris Carter’s favor, her fabulous acting abilities as both male and female deranged and mentally ill just blew my mind!  The whole theme of the episode evil minds evil forces borderline mental illnesses was just the thing that Xfiles has been known for and allowed for the frameworks in which Mulder and scullys mind work to kick into high gear ringing true to my ears. And now let’s talk foreplay! Cause there was so much of that interweaved with comedic splatters that I had to rub my eyes in disbelief that Chris Carter actually possesses these abilities (and why has he not used them more frequently?? They are equally as supportive of the show as the angsty ones if u ask me).- Asking for a couple of rooms and not just one assisted to get these two where we wanted them, together in each other’s arms, and it also ties in with the bureaus policy of agents sharing a room. the scold on scullys face as she tells Mulder she is glad to hear all he wants is some shut eye could be seen as an older prudish version of Scully minus the eye roll and skip in her step. But in the aftermath of the episode it reads to me like a married couple that the man is feeling frisky and the woman is just not feeling it that night so she sternly puts him in his place. Let’s face it right now Scully is leaning towards her medical theories to try and make sense of this case and the subject matter is hitting her, she sees more in Judy than meets the eye, and so I kind of understand this scene and appreciate it. Especially since we get the eyebrow foreplay when Mulder asks if that bed is nice and comfy as he comes through their adjoining rooms making it clear that he is still frisky and would rather be in that bed with Scully rather than chasing the case as needed. That actually says a lot about Mulder, sex with Scully is better than weird ass theories (I wouldn’t argue with that). I kind of got catapulted back to “rain king” when Mulder denied blatantly that he stared at Scully while someone pointed out the sheer attraction to him. And here we have Judy clearly seeing the connection between our two agents from just being in the same room with them for a few minutes. And also her twin brother who asks Mulder if he is “tapping” that tasty red head. Everyone sees it and at least they are not denying it even though they aren’t yet addressing the elephant in the room. I found it quite interesting that Special agent Dana Scully as well as Doctor Dana Scully who has fought men with guns and other social deviants and has conducted multiple surgeries and autopsied dead bodies in the past would get so flustered while dealing with a psych patient and her own mortality and aging. I think this was a critical comment about how society brands women as useless and nothing more than their labels, a woman who hits her 40’s is apparently less worthy bcs her womb is no longer functioning.   The fact that she can turn to Mulder for the cold harsh truth when it comes to insecurities shows just how Dana Scully has progressed from the woman who’s catch phrase was “I’m fine Mulder”. She no longer feels the need to hide from this man, she trusts him in more ways than one. And how endearing is it to hear him say “u have still got it going on”. The man speaks the truth! (Bless). And I don’t know if Chris Carter had “tony Orlando and dawns” song in mind when he wrote knock three times but that completely fits in with the solicitation of one Fox Mulder who tells Scully he is just a door away if she should ever want to get it on 😂 and let’s face it, it’s hard to resist the upper arm and torso muscly built of Mulder in that tank top 👅 Knock three times: Hey girl what ya doin' down thereDancin' alone every night while I live right above youI can hear your music playin'I can feel your body swayin'One floor below me you don't even know meI love youOh my darlingKnock three times on the ceiling if you want meTwice on the pipe if the answer is noOh my sweetnessMeans you'll meet me in the hallwayTwice on the pipe means you ain't gonna showIf you look out your window tonightPull in the string with the note that's attached to my heartRead how many times I saw youHow in my silence I adored youOnly in my dreams did that wall between us come apartOh my darlingKnock three times on the ceiling if you want meTwice on the pipe if the answer is noOh my sweetnessMeans you'll meet me in the hallwayTwice on the pipe means you ain't gonna showI can hear your music playin'I can feel your body swayin'One floor below me you don't even know meI love youOh my darlingKnock three times on the ceiling if you want meTwice on the pipe if the answer is noOh my sweetnessMeans you'll meet me in the hallwayTwice on the pipe means you ain't gonna show Continuing with the progression in scullys character I love the fact that she can come into Mulders room and just ask to be held, it’s a little reminiscent of the bed scene in I want to believe where Mulder offers to take the burden, curse god so that Scully can have a break and sleep peacefully. At that given point in time Scully might be cursing god for the pain that is in human mortality and having the ultimate stop be at heavens door so to speak. Mulder undressing in freak out mode and scullys naked shoulder bobbing from above the sheets is the moment that the fandom will forever be screaming about because we finally got a literal confirmation that our duo are doing it!!! (Enter mental freak out and jumping up and down with ecstatic overtones). And there we have it, the afterglow of sex apparently agrees with Scully as she has become the calm and rational no longer haunted by the ghosts that seeped in to her psyche beforehand. And apparently sex with Scully agrees immensely with Mulder as well who movements before his freak out smiled at himself in the mirror. He’s always been so harsh with himself so it was a touching moment. And that last scene, if you mute it and watch scullys facial expression as she shoots off Mulders invitation of a second round of bed wrestling u can see that she is flirting and contemplating it even as she is saying no. I would put more emphasis on the part where she is shooting him down if it ended with just that, but hey, I just call it a knee jerk reaction which was erased momentarily cause let’s face it Scully will now forever be drawn to that damn afterglow of sex with Mulder!!! And now that I have all of the positives out of the way, it’s inevitable to put aside the truly bad dialogue that was held between Mulder and Scully in bed. Had it been anywhere else I would have shrugged it off but Chris Carter, dude, the spooning was probably hurting your retinas and so u thought u would try to distract us with words that were just plain and simple garbage! (Lucky for us we can hit the mute button and just relish in the intimacy and the love that is Mulder holding Scully close). Here is the 💩 that Chris had to inject (I mean how can u get your characters so spot on in all of the other scenes and then fuck up the scene with the best potential??? This is the mystery of CC himself one which we might never really understand)- insinuating Scully thinks Mulder wants children and with a younger woman! 🤦🏼‍♀️ I mean sheesh! He has stuck by Scully for so long and looks at her like a love sick puppy!!! This whole Scully doubting Mulder when it comes to their personal ship is something that will never ring true to me. - Also the stupid question asked by Scully - are we going to spend time together (when they are retired) - as if the x files is the only thing that keeps them together. Has Chris forgotten he wrote a whole damn movie where Mulder and Scully were living in the same house, sharing a bed and not working at the FBI? I know Scully is talking after retirement but seriously man when would Mulder never be part of scullys life? - What’s stopping u from having another kid??? Like are u fucking kidding me dude?? Mulder knows what Scully went through to actually get pregnant (or try to get pregnant) that is not a line he would ever throw her way! And Scully saying she wouldn’t have anyone to have a kid with even if she wanted to? 😡😡😡 I would like to throw “per manum” in Chris Carter’s face and smash his nose with it! Mulder will never say no to scullys request of fathering her child no matter how uncomfortable it might be for him (which at this point I don’t even think this element even exists between them anymore). - Sorry not even Scully saying “we will think of something” as an answer to Mulders question what will we do if we  lose our jobs, which ultimately leads to sex can salvage this scene!!!  I want to see the original script of this scene because it seems that dialogue was cut form it, it kind of is all over the place near the end which is such a chris Carter move, leave the social criticism dialogue in, super glue it with some sort of Shippy elusive declaration and try to get away with it knowing fully well it’s less than perfect. But he gave us the sex, and as a PHILE I have over the years gotten accustomed to blurring the parts and selectively choosing the strong points of the episodes so I am choosing to focus on the physical closeness on this one rather than the flaky words. Ending with a few comments that I had that don’t fit into any long argument 🤷‍♀️ - let’s face it Scully can even make the words “gestalt gestven syndrome” sound like foreplay and totally sexy (and is anyone else wondering how many takes of that they had to shoot because Gillian just kept messing it up? I’m counting on seeing this scene in the blooper reel 😂- The mature  version of Scully, skeptic as she might be is willing to subscribe to the notion better safe than sorry while popping the bread pills- It was nice to see the actual scene on the road where the bear story happened 🐻🐻🐻- Chris Carter with his sexist dick/sword collection scene at the diner 🤢 - And seriously who has that amount of ammunition in his home???? 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

GENERAL PICARD COMMENTS AND SPOILERS UNCUT BC MOBILE
Okay.
I really expected Picard's problem with the orchids to be that he has a robot heart but I guess not? That would be a cool episode that could have been done.*
Rios and Jurati 4 eva
Keep Narek. He can be the stray for this season to use against whoever is the badguy next season! I do think he loves her, I just think he's so messed up he doesn't know what that means.
I still feel like...like we're setting up? It's literally the finale. But what a fun set up Terry is gonna get next season.
I hope those other synths have differing opinions. Leader lady is creepy af.
Someone on Reddit totally called the Admonition twist. Good job, redditor.
Why is Elnor in this show if they're not going to so anything with him?? He's so fun. Give him an actual story. Stop putting baby in the corner.
I miss the romulan house couple that it would be mighty useful to have around. I hope they come back next ep.
Also: picard is sick. Where the hell is Crusher in all this?? She should be busting through walls yelling about being his doctor like Scully did literally every episode of xfiles.
*Maybe I'll rewatch and fix the episodes they could have had and then get hired for story work or smth.

I get all of you are upset but to slam Gillian now for speaking up about the ridiculous male vs female writers and directors on xfiles which is more than off is just not ok. If someone like Gillian who is in a power position who has many eyes and ears aimed at her shouldn't speak up who should because the bts running of the xfiles is just disgusting. It's not even about men being better writers and directors it's that they get hired based on the fact women are considered to do a shit job.
Oh but I find the fight totally legit. What I dislike is that she did sign for another season of The X-Files. No one forced her. She knew exactly what it would be like, she knows Chris, she knows all the writers, she worships them all, usually. She has played many many roles since the original series ended, pretty much all written by men. She has been plugging other shows (you know which one in particular), written by men. Never she complained about the lack of female writers in The Fall, or American Gods, or even Streetcar. So why now? Why picking XF when she’s about to start filming? She did a pretty bad job so far promoting this season and I’m scared it keeps going this way. I’m also pretty sure Chris would have let her write an episode if she wanted to, but it seems like the less she’s involved in it, the better, and it’s a bummer. XF made who she is now, it made her famous, it made her an icon, she made a lot of money thanks to this show, and even if I don’t have a lot of feelings for Chris Carter, he is the one who pushed for her to be Scully. One of the first strong female character of all time. We owe him that, and so does she.It just seems to me that she’s often unfair and ungrateful towards this show. So I get that it’s not as good as it could be, that the writing doesn’t give her as much material as she would, and that the subject itself don’t interest her much. It’s understandable. But still, I wish she would show a little bit more of enthusiasm for a show who has millions of fans and which will reward her with a few millions dollars. This is a totally personal thing, but I always do have issues with people who publicly and loudly criticize what made them who they are now, as bad as those things are.
In other words, don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
