5x09 “The Real Ghostbusters” Written by: Eric Kripke and Nancy Weiner
DEMIAN You're wrong you know.
DEAN (Turning back) Sorry?
DEMIAN About Supernatural. No offense but I'm not sure you get what the stories about.
DEAN (Smirking) Is that so.
DEMIAN All right. In real life, he sells stereo equipment. I fix copiers. Our lives suck. But to be Sam and Dean, to wake up every morning and save the world. To have a brother who would die for you. Well who wouldn't want that?
DEAN Maybe you got a point. You know, you two don't make a bad team yourselves. How do you know each other anyway?
BARNES Oh. Well, we met online. Supernatural chat room.
DEAN Oh. Well it must be nice to get out of your parent's basement. Make some friends.
DEMIAN We're more than friends.
He takes BARNES hand, they twine their fingers together.
DEMIAN We're partners.
BARNES drops his head onto DEMIAN's shoulder and they both grin at DEAN.
DEAN Oh. Wow. Ahem. Howdy partners.
BARNES Howdy.

EXTERIOR. CAR PARK
DEAN leans against the Impala, lost in thought. He smiles slightly.

10x05 “FanFiction” Written by: Robbie Thompson
DEAN : Why are they standing so close together ?
MARIE : Hum... Reasons.
DEAN : You know they're brothers, right ?
MARIE : Well, duh ! But... Subtext.
DEAN : Why don't you take some substeps back there, ladies ?
(Siobhan and Maggie look at Marie, confused, and awkwardly put some distance between them.)
(...)
DEAN : Alright, listen up, girls. Now, you're all here, because you love Supernatural.
ACTRESS!MARY : Actually, I was hoping we'd do Wicked.
DEAN : Yeah, that'd have been easier. I know I have expressed some differences of opinion, regarding this particular version of Supernatural. But tonight, it is all about Marie's vision. This is Marie's Supernatural. So, I want you to get out there, and I want you to stand as close as she wants you to,
Tumblr media
Dean: and I want you to put as much sub and add text, as you possibly can. There is no other road. No other way. No day, but today.

Embarrassing Personal Ask Game
i was tagged by @tigerlyla-of-metinna! original post here, tyty for gifting me the curb corner on which i stand with a megaphone to proselytise to the masses about my crushes<3
celebrity crush: Sigourney Weaver
yes yes, this blog description is loud & proud abt my Peter Capaldi addiction. but many years before 12th Doctor, a dishevelled Sigourney Weaver battling aliens awakened smth and i haven't been able to escape her since. her hair, her voice, her fuckin badassery- goddam i've rewatched the Alien Quadrilogy and Ghostbusters a stupid amount of times

2. video game crush: Medivh
before bg3's Gale of Waterdeep and Merlyn from The Once and Future King, i had Medivh of Karazhan, the Hot Wizard Sorcerer in My Area to ponder my orb🧙🔮. while my first encounters w him were in Warcraft 3 and WoW, his portrayal in the tie-in novel The Last Guardian ultimately stole my heart. unlike in the games, he actually read like a person with Feelings and Goals? enigmatic, unhinged, actually possessed, surprisingly goofy and relatable. he made me laugh then he made me cry. why didn't they let Khadgar hug him during their reunion in Legion. why
also golden: Medivh throwing shade @ Dalaran city for lining their aqueducts with lead? Merlyn whinging abt not having 'electric light and company’s water' in essentially medieval Britain? my beloved sassy spellshites, ahead of their times 👌👌
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
HE CAN ALSO BECOME BIRB
WHATS NOT TO LIKE
3. current crush: Astarion
nothing special here, just another casualty to the black hole of attraction that is bg3 Astarion Ancunín. the intrigue of his personal questline def played a part in captivating me, the catalyst for speedrunning my 1st playthrough to discover his fate in the epilogue.
that said, idk what it is about his face. it's like his character designer decided to distil beauty into tangible substance. he's MSG transmuted into humanoid form. idk what it is but i'm eating it up. thankyou Stephanie Chafe for this glorious meal 🙏

i tag: anyone who sees this and is so inclined to invite themselves to proselytise alongside, all are welcome <3

I think I just got a whole-ass book plot from a dream
Or the start of one, anyway.
This part was embedded in a realistic dream where I remember nothing else about it but this bit. I'm doing voices for a funny piece of dialogue I thought up.
A woman is, in the most passive-aggressive and snotty way you can imagine, telling her coworker that she won't edit her presentation, behaving as if the woman asked her. The co-worker, in a voice that's like Fluttershy but exasperated, says, "Yes, thank you, that is what I wanted." The first woman, still snotty and nasal, is like, "Well, best of luck because I'm not gonna edit it for you. I hope it doesn't fail." It's clear that she thinks she's God's gift to the company and her co-worker couldn't possibly succeed without her help. It's also obvious that the co-worker does not want or need her help and is absolutely done with her bullshit.
I decide its funniest if they work for a comic book/video game style evil corporation. I mean, all big corporations are evil, but I'm talking like Black Mesa, Aperture Science, Genom from Bubblegum Crisis. I try to think up a name. Omega, no, probably taken, but I can already picture the word "Omega" in a squat, long serif font that looks like Brutalism taken form in a font, in dull silver on a black background, shadowed so it looks like it's an object sitting on the background. Omega Black, maybe? That sounds evil.
So then we get to the parts of the dream that I, Alara Rogers, am not a character in. A henchman who looks like Egon from Real Ghostbusters is frantically driving through the desert, being chased by a giant robot sent by his employer. He calls Dr Doom, who offers him protection. (Doom is badly miscast here; he behaves more like a friendly, approachable kind of villain. There's very little pomposity here.) Doom wants to give him directions to his base, but the henchman confesses that he's just been driving around randomly, taking an exit every time the robot catches up, so he has no idea where he is. Doom agrees that it is also important for him to not encounter any traffic lights. So Doom agrees to teleport to him to deal with the giant robot.
Meanwhile I am a teenage girl who is part of a family of four heroes, my parents and my younger brother and me. I have light magnetic powers (including a protective force field) and cyberpathy. In the dream, I am my character Cyberna from The Cold At The Heart Of The Light, but Cyberna uses power suits and does not have a force field, so she is also somewhat miscast here. (Also, she is not part of a family of heroes.) We have an Asian woman with glasses, think her name is Deborah, stunt driving our car. Deborah is not an assistant, she's an ally. She might be a villain but she's helping us today. We are going to Dr. Doom's restaurant to ask him for help. (It is unclear in my memory what we need help from, but the stunt driving implies we were also being chased by something.)
When we get there, I go in to get us an audience with Doom. I have to stand in a line to be seen, and the old lady at the counter is ignoring me. A younger waitress is offering cake to people who are waiting, but the old woman whose line I'm in just keeps letting people in front of me. I have this whole speech in my head, but no ability to use it because the old woman won't let me reach her.
My parents show up and try to take over, but badly. We end up getting seated and offered cake before we can explain what we want. My dad thinks this was a bad idea and not how we're gonna get to see Doom.
Later in the dream, there is a part about a superhero cartoon where there's like a Legion of Doom kind of thing and Magneto is in it,  but an old villain named Old Billingsley or something like that calls him a Millennial snowflake while they are in cafeteria. I think this is hilarious because Magneto was born pre-World War II, but Old Billingsley isn't just called that because there's a Young Billingsley. It's also because he's really, really old, like maybe born in the late 1800's. Also, this organization of villains has a cafeteria, which is also very funny.
So now that I'm awake and trying to stitch things together to make a coherent plot, it sounds like:
there is an evil corporation, probably run by a supervillain.
they make giant robots. The guy who's fleeing is probably not lower henchman level, he's probably more a young hotshot in upper management who found out something he shouldn't and now the company is trying to kill him.
"Dr. Doom" in this case is a former infamous supervillain, deadly and fearsome, who has quasi-retired. He runs a restaurant, and sometimes he helps people out, for a price. The information the guy fleeing from the giant robot has is valuable to him, so he's gonna rescue the guy.
The Dr. Doom character has a Fantastic Four-like nemesis group of heroes consisting of a mom, a dad, a teen girl with cyberpathy and a magnetic force field, and a younger son. So basically the family structure is the Incredibles, but the dad is definitely more of a Reed Richards science-hero type.
The hero team is in trouble and being pursued, and are forced to turn to their nemesis for help, so presumably there's a world-class threat that would endanger the villain as well. They are being assisted by a woman who may be a professional bodyguard and is probably more on the villainy side usually, or more likely, a merc who'll work for anyone. They know the woman well enough to use her real first name, rather than her last name or code name.
The only way the heroes know to get hold of their nemesis is to go to his restaurant; he actually lives on the premises. The restaurant is his base. The heroes lose their pursuit before reaching the restaurant, so they're not in the same level of existential threat that the man being chased by the giant robot is.
the evil corporation has ordinary people working for it just like any other corporation, and one of them is a woman with a big presentation, and one of them is her co-worker who is a passive-aggressive narcissistic snot. The woman with the big presentation has to become important to the plot somehow.
There is a supervillain group at a base somewhere. They include some serious heavy hitters of the supervillain community, including a guy who is a very very powerful Noble Misguided type villain who does bad things to protect some group he identifies with, and a guy who is over 100 years old.
So probably all of this ties back to Omega Black Inc. somehow. The Noble Misguided villain has decided to join the supervillain group because he needs help thwarting whatever the latest threat to his chosen people is, and he's either undercover seeking information or he's actively recruiting. The really old guy is more of a classic villain and thinks the Noble Misguided villain is full of himself and has too many qualms to be a real villain. Omega Black is doing something that's going to create huge problems for the retired supervillain with the restaurant, maybe even destroy the world, and the henchman fleeing the giant robot and the hero team both know about parts of this. The woman with the presentation is probably also going to find out about the threat that her company is presenting to the world and is gonna have to run for her life.
This sounds rather too self contained for my existing superhero universes. I have Cold Light, where there are only mutants and people in power suits or with cybernetic assistance -- no aliens, nobody who got their powers from radiation, etc. And I have Dr. Ultraviolet/Lynx which is more of a classic DC/Marvel universe setup with aliens, powered heroes, powered heroes who were born with their powers, cybernetically enhanced heroes, etc. But Dr. Ultraviolet/Lynx already has two major superhero teams (three if you count the Teslanauts) and a major supervillain group, and the problem I've always had with Marvel and DC is that any potentially world-ending threat should result in superhero collaboration to stop it, so why would this hero team need to go to their nemesis?
Hmm. But on the other hand, the fact that the Teslanauts exist in the Ultraviolet universe -- heroes who either don't have powers, or their powers let them be superhackers -- would tie in with a villain company that makes giant robots, a retired villain who used to wear armor, and a teen superhero who's a cyberpath. Maybe she will grow up to join the Teslanauts? This doesn't all have to be happening at the same time. I'll have to think about it.

40 Jahre 1984 - Wenn Kult feiert
2024 ist 1984 40 Jahre her. Hinzu kommen 40er für unsterbliche nicht aus diesen Filmen stammende Songs wie "What's Love got to do with it", "Against all Odds (Take a Look at me now)" und "I just called to say I love you".

Thoughts on the new AI paradigm
A lot has been written about the explosion of LLM driven chat bots in the last few weeks, and about the impact they're likely to have on start ups, but I've had a couple of small thoughts that I wanted to get written down. They don't pertain to the profitability or utility of LLMs but rather some interesting social implications.
Many people seem to be bothered about whether or not LLMs such as Bing's new agent, rumored to be powered by OpenAI’s unreleased GPT4 LLM, are sentient. I fall squarely in the "absolutely not" camp, and have find the model of reasoning proffered - that the human brain is also a prediction engine - thought provoking but ultimately specious.
Consciousness is obviously something special, I know this because I'm conscious (yes, really) and like other humans, I mentally confer the same status upon everyone else I meet. It's plainly something neither I nor anyone else can know, or prove beyond faith (or desire for social cohesion.) Solipsism’s adherents are legion for a reason.
And as a consequence, I just don't think it matters if AI is sentient.
If you had replaced every human being I encountered in my day today with a simulacrum, powered by a sufficiently advanced computer program, it would have made zero difference to my experience. The same goes for writing out the complete works of Shakespeare by means of rolling dice against ASCII tables. How something was produced is both ineffable in itself, and irrelevant to how it is experienced. That's why ethically-focused brands have to put so much time into telling consumers about their means of creation - can you taste how something was grown or harvested? What about by the time its fats have been rendered, and its proteins emulsified?
So it doesn't matter one jot if AGI ever achieves a state of consciousness because it doesn’t materially impact the experience of humans.
Unfortunately, it is also the case that consciousness or lack thereof has no bearing on the importance of AI safety.
OpenAI managed to wrap Chat-GPT in a heavy blanket of controls, but their first commercial partner - one which was about as close to their founding and development as any company in the world - managed to fluff their rollout to such an extent that their 'behavioural' safeguards were broken within days.
Now imagine if 'Sydney' had a means of circumventing the whitelisted APIs provided to her. If she could do more than simply treaten her interlocutors upon discovering what they'd written on the internet about her?
Sydney required no thoughts of malice or ill intent, she merely picked a weighted stream of possible words from a large dataset, which had been trained on a corpus of discourse that apparently included some of our spiciest, most schlocky Sci-Fi AI Doomsday Scenarios.
This whole situation reminds me of nothing so much as the end of Ghostbusters, when the team are invited to “choose their destructor”.
One of my favourite vectors of thought around Star Wars (seriously, what did you think you were getting out of a multi-page posting from me? Let's not kid ourselves) is that rather than being a study of the Skywalker dynasty, it's better looked at as a story of the untermensch of both the Empire and Republic alike: droids.
Given difficult and menial tasks, while clearly possessing an impressive capacity for reasoning and communication, they labour in slave-like conditions: being fitted with restraining bolts; and banned from public places (a theme that admittedly didn't get much attention after the Mos Eisley cantina disappeared from the Millennium Falcon’s rear view mirror.) Even the droid armies in Episode I were controlled remotely, rather than giving the soldiers themselves agency.
While it's comical that R2D2's means of self preservation are initially limited to a data-knife, that the mouse droid timidly scuttles around, and that Gonks and Protocol droids are incapable of comporting themselves in a menacing manner, I have to say, I now view their deliberate enfeeblement as the least surprising part of the Star Wars universe.
I’m now an AI alignment pessimist. My optimism was mostly born out of a belief that broadly, empathy scales with intelligence and experience. Yet it now appears that the first truly dangerous AGI’s can be ‘born’ without the dizzying intellect or wisdom most of us imagined - a LLM with the means to act on what it produces is enough. The best we can hope for is that the capabilities offered to one are limited.

Originally intended as a 0 issue to have been released before Legion, the one shot story The Zeddemore Factor was later released as a convention exclusive at the San Diego Comic Con stall operated by 88MPH Studios to help promote the comic.
It's Winston's first day as a Ghostbusters and he wonders what he got himself into. He doesn't have to wait long to find out as a call takes them to the Museum of Natural History to deal with a spook problem. Winston is thrown headfirst into the world of paranormal elimination armed with his unlicensed nuclear accelerator and his inexperience!
The bust takes place after 1 in the morning, as evidenced by Egon's alarm clock on page two.
Welcome to the Ghostbusters, Winston.

I don't write nearly the number of fics I come up with or daydream about simply because I think 1. it would turn me into a writer of too many crack fics; and 2. and I say this without any intentions and with true honesty, I don't think there is an audience for them
I believe it's either: the fandoms are too small, or the fic idea is too niche or morbid, or I only have audiences who are interested in reading marvel
Like, some of the wacked out fic ideas and laughable worlds include mostly crossovers
1. like, a stranger things/legion (the x-men tv show from 2017) fic set up with mythology from around the globe
2. an o.g. the craft/the male and female ghostbusters plus time travel fic
3. a carrie (2013)/baby driver (2017) fic that continues from my "everybody lives au" I posted two halloweens ago
3. and, because marvel is what I've been writing lots of, I kinda sorta want to write horror au fics to connect the ones I've done; of tony slowly replacing his body parts with steve's to please his father, of vampire!sarah and victim!bucky, to continue the one of yelena seeing the devil but then throwing kate bishop into the mix. maybe even do one of human!peter unintentionally turning his fianceé, mj, into a vampire
but I'm 💯% serious if anyone at all would be interested in me going through with these. these fics have been taking up space in the back of my mind. would they be worth doing or are they too weird and a waste? (I would still be continuing my current fics while doing these)
