Hi I just saw ur tags about not being into fandoms. But I’m just curious what are some things that you do like or are into that you’d recommend checking out? :)

I don’t have a problem with fandoms, I just don’t tend to get so passionate and dedicated to one particular thing. I more enjoy things and move along. But I do have a lot of things that I would really recommend!

Gary and His Demons and Year of the Rabbit are two very funny tv shows. Planet Terror and Death Kappa are great if you like cheesy crazy “horror” movies. 

One thing that I’ve been interested in for quite a while that i haven’t really mentioned here is ball jointed dolls and doll customizing. It’s a super cool hobby (I feel) that pretty much incorporates every form of art. People repaint the dolls faces, make and style wigs, sew clothes, make props and miniatures, SCULPT THEIR OWN DOLLS. The list goes on and on. One person who I very much recommend is Dollightful. She does some truly amazing customizations that even my sister who thinks the dolls are creepy admits are impressive.

Other cool art youtube channels I’ve found are HMS2 who makes incredible miniature stuff, Hanabira who makes beautiful little dioramas, and nerdforge who does book binding among other things, but oh my god the book binding is so fucking incredible. 

And I will never get tired of watching Super Best Friends Play. If you enjoy watching dudes playing video games, then I suggest checking out the Shitstorm of scariness videos.

As for music...there’s a lot. Angel Haze, Poppy, Karliene, Borns, Wallows, Khai Dreams, Surfaces, and Forrest. are some that I’ve found lately. And I think my favorite bands will always have to be Blind Melon and The Limousines.

I’ve been wanting to make a Billy miniature kit for years, and I love this colorful Kabuki theater so much.  The kit goes together really smoothly and easily.  While the models are not perfectly in scale (not the point), they delightfully exaggerate details in a fun and rather sort of cartoon way that makes them really appealing.  Starting from just cut wood and MDF, paper, paint, and a few other materials in the kit, assembling this with no knowledge of Japanese was interesting (there are visual diagrams and plenty of measurements noted), but I did find a through video tutorial (from HMS2 on youtube who has a ton of similar videos that are very satisfying to watch) which helped a lot.

Shiro’s channel: GoPro hoverbike footage, sometimes racing with Keith + model building/3D printing tutorials with bonus motivational life advice sprinkled in. He talks openly and frankly and sometimes humorously about seeing a therapist, which he does anyway because he knows he’s not the only person who’s Seen Some Shit in the invasion and the war and he wants people to know it’s okay to get help if they need it.

Curtis’ channel: Diorama building ASMR in the vein of HMS2 + various language lessons + one video he remembers neither shooting nor uploading, in which he is super drunk and overcome with emotion at the Houston rodeo petting zoo. He does remember crying when his sister handed him a baby goat because it was so tiny but he doesn’t remember anyone recording it. He edits all of their videos, and he did not edit this one.

Adam’s channel: Please go watch some of Primitive Technology’s videos and some of Li Ziqi’s videos and then imagine them being done by Gordon Ramsay. Sometimes he does them in the desert, sometimes he does them on his grandparents’ old farm north of Calgary. Sometimes he goes back to the colony to visit (yes, he takes Shiro and Curtis with him, they love it) and he’ll shoot some videos there, of him catching mudshrimp at the lake and picking wild brineapples and cooking in his log cabin and making pottery and stuff. Curtis bleeped out his language in the first few, then he finally just gave up and let the colorful metaphors run wild and free. He also does the occasional musical shitpost, and he composes all the background music for his and Shiro’s videos.
