I sometimes wish I was good at making model kits, because this is a gorgeous take on Hikaru Ichijyo from 1984's "Macross: Do You Remember Love?"
Then I look at the number of figures I already have and thank HEAVEN I'm not good at model kits....

Weekly Anime Comics: Macross - page 2
Just to be clear, I don't mean that in terms of quality of the episode ITSELF, but rather the competence of the characters within it. ...I mean, it's obviously not ENTIRELY this. Roy alone exhibits the competence of, like, four normal men. But still, there is something perversely fascinating about the sheer number of whoopsies that make up the bulk of this episode's runtime. Like, yeah, Hikaru gets the iconic "catching Minmay out of mid-air" sequence near the end, but that's only after spending two thirds of the episode literally trying to figure out how to keep his mecha from falling over. And then there's the first attempt at launching the ship, which is still one of the most brilliant mechanical failures I've ever seen in a SciFi series. It's simultaneously hilarious but also very intelligent, which I'm obviously down with.
And don't forget: there's already plenty MORE Macross comics up on Patreon! If you like what I do, why throw a few bucks around and get yourself even MORE of it?

I love Super Dimension Fortress Macross T.V. 1992 Anime and The movie "Do You Remember Love?" The artwork is so pretty. Hikaru Ichijyo has pretty eyes. Pretty boy.

*looks up the original Macross on Aniwatch so I can avoid relatives at the early christmas party* oh cool seems like they have the uncut ADV dub here instead of Robote-
*sees who voices Hikaru Ichijyo, the main character* -nevermind, not touching that with a ten foot pole
