The body thuds against the wooden floor and everything went silent. Nancy let out a scream, before she clasped her mouth shut with her shaky hands and stepped away from the railing for moment. Robin’s eyes widened and she looked down at the body that had just fallen in front of her eyes, “Oh God.” Eddie, Jonathan, Billy and Steve look down from the top of the stairs, staring at the unmoving body from above. “God no.” Nancy whispered. The blood flowing from the man’s ear and the silence was eerie.

“We need to call an ambulance.” Nancy’s voice was shaky They had come down avoiding the body nervously.

“Why? He’s dead.” Eddie said, almost unnervingly calm. “You killed him Nancy.”

“He was coming at us.” Nancy defended herself.

“Yeah, he was alive till you shoved him over the railing.” Then it became noticeable that Eddie was on the edge, hands shaking, unnecessary sarcasm and nervous chuckles.

“I was protecting Robin!”

“Fine then you both killed him,” Eddie shrugged.

“So did you then.” Immediately Eddie started shaking his head.

“No, no, no I didn’t do anything.”

“Doesn’t matter!” Robin then said. “We were all here. We are all at fault.”

“What?”

“Billy was stealing information of his laptop. That’s a felony. And we were all helping him. Meaning we could all be charged with felony murder.” Robin explained without any pauses, heart thumping against her chest. “Oh, God.”

“No, no, no prosecutor would do that... we were defending ourselves.” Eddie argued stepping forward.

“We broke into this man’s house, he was defending himself!” Robin exclaimed .

Nancy shook her head biting her nails, tears in her eyes. “I was just returning the trophy, I wasn’t part of your plan.”

“There was no plan!” Jonathan jumped slightly at how loud his voice was so he continued to pace. “It was all...” Then everyone looked at Billy.

“I didn’t ask for anyone’s help.” Billy spoke up, he couldn’t even glare at them his mind fuzzy.

“We can thank your boyfriend then.” Eddie suggested pointing at Steve, “Yeah?” Billy bit his bottom lip and stood up, ready to explode but instead he left the room.

“We should call the ambulance.” Nancy tried to get herself together.

“You mean the police?” Eddie almost laughed, but it came out like a sob. “He’s dead!” Billy tried to tune them out.

“Fine! The police but- we should tell someone to take care of-”

“We should leave.” Steve suggested stepping forward.

“Leave?”

“No one saw us come inside.”

“You want to run?” Nancy asked with wide eyes.

“It will look like an accident. He fell from the stairs because he drank too much.” Steve looked at all of them, was he not convincing?

“But my car is right outside, people saw it.” Jonathan said nervously.

“Your car is here all the time.” Steve rebutted. Nancy shook her head.

“We should call the police and tell them everything-” Steve shook his head this time waving his arms around.

“But Billy can’t afford it-”

“I don’t care about Billy right now! I care about my future.” Nancy cut him off.

“You did this!” Steve raised his voice to cut her off. “We all did, he’s dead because of all of us.” The rest went silent at that. “He killed Heather and was going to let Billy take the fall for him! For what he did! So maybe it’s okay that he’s dead now. He’s-” He was cut off by sudden gasps. They all look to the side and gaped. He was still alive.

Billy didn’t know what happened, one moment he was trying to calm himself down and the next he was on the ground with the man he thought they had killed on top of him and strangling him. He tried to push him off with his hands by pushing and then scratching his face, but the man did not flinch. The weight on his legs was crushing. Billy struggled gasping and choking.

Blood splattered on Billy’s face and the hands on his neck weakened. He could breathe again, he watched the man stumbled to floor besides him. His heart was racing loudly as he looked at the dead stare of the man. Then his blue grey eyes moved to five people standing above them, staring down at him with shocked expressions.

This felt like some sick kind of joke to Billy, he the only one with history troubles with police and the only one who wasn’t in college, he was surrounded by five law students at a prestigious college. And one of them, his boyfriend, held the murder weapon. Billy laughed laying on the ground with blood on his face and next to him a dead body.

Hi, I wanted to ask your opinion as a lawyer. I don't know if you have watched the trial or not. If you already said wether you do or not, I'm sorry, but I have been reading quite a few different people and can't really keep straight who said what exactly.

What do you, as somewhat an expert, think about Amber's legal team? There seems to be a lot going around from his fans about how incompetent and unprepared they are, but I have watched quite a bit of the trial (currently on day 7) and I thought they were actually good. They seem to be good at catching out D*pp at lies and inconsistencies. Especially the one doing the cross examination seems to really know the deposition from the UK case.

But I'm a layperson and not from the US, so what do I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i'm not watching the trial, i have only seen the short clips that make their way into my various social media feeds.

the content that i have seen suggests that they're good lawyers doing their job, and there are probably a couple of things influencing the negative comments. first, we're all used to watching "trials" in tv shows and movies. real trials aren't like that. they're not scripted, people trip over their words, objections that you think would be sustained are overruled, objections that you think would be overruled are sustained. it's easy to turn just regular stuff into a meme if you're expecting viola davis in HTGAWM or whatever (i’m assuming she’s great bc she’s viola davis, i’ve actually never seen a full ep of HTGAWM lol).

second, the depp team uses paid content creators to manipulate and post pro-depp stuff including edited videos from the trial (there was a clip going around that made it look like AH was posing for a picture with a tissue. she actually just blew her nose and then the person who posted the clip used a video editing program to slow down the frame and make it look like she was posing, etc.) and if you don't know that a lot of the pro depp content is edited, then maybe you really do think that the depp team is doing amazing and AH's legal team is dropping the ball.

and the depp witnesses testifying and saying things that are inconsistent with the uk trial and the deposition is just BAFFLING to me. all those transcripts are equally available to depp and his team. if depp still had the discipline and/or cognitive ability to sit down and read through his previous statements, he could simply give consistent testimony and avoid hours of being impeached on the stand on cross examination with his previous inconsistent testimony.
